Background and Objective: Cutaneous leishmaniasis is a parasitic disease and a health problem in different parts of Iran, especially two cities of Mashhad and Chabahar. Due to morphological similarities of most Leishmania species and difference in reservoirs of L. major and L. tropica, it is necessary to determine the parasite specie to combat the disease. Thus, this study used gene sequencing and genotyping of 70-kDa heat shock protein (HSP70) to differentiate the two species of Leishmania. Methods: In this descriptive-analytical study, microscope slides and cultures were prepared from 43 patients suspected of cutaneous leishmaniasis in Chabahar and Mashhad. PCR was performed after genomic DNA extraction and then PCR products were sequenced and analyzed. Results: Of the 43 patients studied, 32 direct smear and culture (74.4%) were positive and 11 (25.6%) showed negative results, and were therefore excluded from the study. Using HSP70-specific primers, 1962 bp and 1152bp bands were observed for HSP70 of L. major in Chabahar and L. tropica in Mashhad, respectively. Based on the results, there were 18 nucleotide differences between HSP70 of L. major in Chabahar and L. tropica in Mashhad. Conclusion: Due to the morphological similarities between Leishmania species and inability to differentiate species through parasitological methods, the HSP70 gene can be used for identification of the species, and prevention and treatment of the disease.

Background: An understanding of the factors that affect the abundance of 'Anopheline' species provides an opportunity to better understand the dynamics of malaria transmission in different regions. Chabahar, located south east of Iran, is the most malarious region in the country. Objective: The main aim of this study was to quantify the spatiotemporal Anopheles population dynamics, response to climatic conditions in Chabahar. Methods: Satellite-based and land-based climatic data were used as explanatory variables. Monthly caught mosquitoes in 6 village sites of Chabahar were used as dependent variable. The spatiotemporal associations were first investigated by inspection of scatter plots and single variable regression analysis. A multivariate linear regression model was developed to reveal the association between environmental variables and the monthly mosquito abundance at a 95% confidence level ('P' ≤ 0.5). Findings: Results indicated that Anopheles mosquitoes can be found all year in Chabahar with 2 significant seasonal peaks from March to June (primary peak) and September to November (secondary peak). Results of the present study showed that 0.77 of yearly mosquito abundance emerges in the thermal range of 24°C to 30°C and the humidity range of 0.70 to 0.80 in Chabahar. Conclusion: According to the developed multivariate linear model, 0.88 of temporal variance of mosquito abundance, nighttime land surface temperature, and relative humidity of 15 Universal Time Coordinated (18.30 Iran) are the main drivers of mosquito population dynamics in Chabahar.

Black Mouth Croaker (Atrobucca nibe) is of significant value from the economics point of view. In the following study, the genetic diversity of Atrobucca nibe has been investigated using the PCR-sequencing method from three different regions of the Persian gulf and Oman Sea, namely Chabahar in the Sistan and Baluchestan and Jask in Hormozgan Province of Iran and Fujairah in the Fujairah Emirate of the United Arab of Emirates. The purpose of the following exploration has essentially beencoined to further the study of Atrobucca nibe genetic diversity and its population structure in the Persian Gulf and Oman Sea. For this purpose, a number of 54 fish have been collected from the aforementioned regions. The DNA of the fish had been extracted through the Ammonium Acetate method and the quality of the DNAs were analyzed via the spectrophotometry and furthermore the quantity of the extracted DNA were assessed viaelectrophoresis. Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) was conducted on the targeted DNAs and thenceforth DNA sequencing was carried out. Subsequently, through sequencing it was discovered that the D-loop region in the mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) of Black Mouth Croaker,contained 270 base pairs (bp). For the purpose of analyzing the genetic diversity of Atrobucca nibe and its population structure in the Persian Gulf and Oman Sea, the following softwares have been conducted, namely theBioEdit, Arlequin, Dnasp and Mega5 software. Furthermore, the Kimura 2-parameter was used for the purpose of genetic distance analysis. Through observations of average levels of FST between the regions, it can be summed up that genetic differences do exist among the present populations. On the grounds of the obtained results from the Persian Gulf and Oman Sea, it can be concluded that there currently are three different populations of Atrobucca nibe residing in the waters of Sistan & Baluchestan, Hormozgan and Fujairah.

The antioxidant activities of Ulva faciata, Nizimuddinia zanardinii and Gracilaria corticata were investigated in Chabahar, Iran. Methanol extract and n-hexane, dichloromethane and ethylacetate fractions used for antioxidative properties test by the total antioxidative activity, 2,2-diphenyl-1-picryl-hydrazylhydrate (DPPH) free radical scavenging activity, reduction power, metal chelating activity and inhibition of lipid peroxidation methods. The methanolic extracts of three seaweed species showed lower antioxidative properties. The most effective antioxidant properties were observed from the EA fractions of G. corticata and U. faciata. dichloromethane (DCM), fraction of N. zanardinii showed significantly higher total antioxidative activity, DPPH radical scavenging and power reduction in comparison to its n-hexane, EA fractions and crude MeOH extract. There was a strong correlation between the reduction power (r^2=0.94) and the total phenolic content of the seaweeds extracts and fractions. The results indicate U. faciata and G. corticata can be potential sources of natural antioxidants and may be efficiently used as nutraceuticals.

Squids belong to the cephalopod family, which composes more than 5% of the total annual fishing volume of southern Iran as by-products; however, these do not have significant usage in Iran. This product was studied to extract the high-value products, i.e. marine oils rich in unsaturated multiple-band fatty acids from 50kg squid (Loligo loligo) obtained from Chabahar fishing port and transferred to Urmia Research Center for further action. Extracting oil from squid was done by using the Dyer and Bligh standard method. The results indicated that 13±5% of wet weight of squid was oil; the percentage and profile of the extracted oils were made by using the G.C. method. The results showed that squid oil had 29.40% saturated fatty acids and 23.70% single-band unsaturated fatty acids, and the total value of the unsaturated multiple-band fatty acids of the same was 40.20%. Also the contents of arachidonic acid was 2.78%, linolenic acid was 3.10%, linoleic acid was 5.20%, docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) was 15.40%, and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) was 9.60% of the total fatty acids. The results demonstrate that squid is considered for the first time as the new and rich source of Omega-3 and Omega-6.

In order to studing and determination of Seaweed biomass in the Oman Sea coast (Sistan & Baluchestan Province), according to obtained reasults and experiments and observations on seaweed studies in 15 years ego, Beris, Chabahar, Pozm and Tang were high density zones and Jood and Lipar were low density zones in west and east of chabahar respectively that were selected for study stations. Total length of sistan and balochistan coasts from Gwatr area with geografical position 25˚ 10′ N & 61˚ 30′ E to Mydani with geografical position 25˚ 24′ N & 59˚ 5′ E were 354.3 Km. Among this length, 54.6 Km were rocky coast and 299.7 Km were sandy coast. Among this, 18.2 Km were high density zone and 281.5 Km were low density zone. Washout Seaweeds area in intertidial zones determind by measuring and recording of geographic positions by meter and GPS, then were obtained 2 transects determind with equal distance in high density area and 1 transects in low density for monthly sampling. The length of these transects were 100 meter and cross of Each transects were seaweed washed out average. The transects divided to 10 bluck and sampling were done randomly monthly from 5 bluck or 50 persent. The samples were transfered to the lab and the weight of each species was obtained after being cleaned, and separating. The biomass of each species per area unit and in the total area was obtained after determing the average weight of species and also determind geografical position by GPS. In relation to this project were done water sampling for recording of fisical chemistry factors. Total data for analysis recorded in this computer. During this research 9 species were collected. Among these seaweeds, 2 species green algea (composed of 2 families and 2 orders), 6 species brown algae (composed of 3 families and 3 orders) and 1 species red algae were identified. Wet biomass of Sargassum in the total area of Sistan & Baluchestan coasts were 445.9 ton in 2012. Among this biomas, 269.1 ton (%60.35) high density area (Beris 112 ton or %25.11, Pozm 83.7 ton or %18.76, Chabahar 59 ton or %13.22 and Tang 14.5 ton or %3.26) and low density zone 176.8 ton (%39.65). Monthly average were estimated about 74.3 ton (high density zone 44.9 and low density zone 29.5 ton). The maximum biomass was obtained 270.4 ton (high density zone 155.5 and low density zone 114.9 ton) in Azar and minimum biomass was obtained 3.5 ton in Esfand. At last, were suggested, This project were done in persian gulf coasts nessesery.

The widespread uses of antibiotics have been resulted in resistant strains of microorganisms and increasing of worldwide antibiotic resistance. Thus the investigations on new natural antibacterial agents as new drugs are important. According to the previous researches, some multicellular marine algae have significant antibacterial properties. In the present study, antibacterial effects of organic and aqueous extracts of Sargassum glaucescens (collected from Chabahar’s coast, Oman Sea, Iran) were tested on three strains of Gram-negative bacteria: E. coli, Proteus vulgaris, Vibrio cholerae and two strains of Gram-positive bacteria: Listeria monocytogenes and Staphylococcus aureus. Extractions were obtained by immersion method after 48 hours. Antibacterial effects were investigated by the disk diffusion method and serial dilutions in tube to determine the minimum inhibitory concentration. The ethanolic extract showed the largest impact on the L. monocytogenes with significant difference than that by the neomycin. Yet, the aqueous extract showed no effects. Ethanolic extract of algae had no effects on the Proteus vulgaris. The results of present study demonstrated that Ethanolic extract of S. glaucescens had reliable antibacterial effects against L. monocytogenes, Vibrio cholerae, E. coli and Staphylococcus aureus.

A series of research cruises were carried out in intertidal zones of Sistan-o- Baluchestan province in 1998. Four region of Gwatr, Chabahar, Tang and Galak were selected as sampling stations to collect samples from brown algae consist of: Sargassum glaucescens, Cystoseira indica and Nizamuddinia zanardini. This study was done monthly in one year period and recorded parameters were density, frequency and biomass. The results showed that the mean relative density of Sargassum in Gwatr, Chabahar, Tang and Galak were estimated 22.17, 8.48, 6.74 and 7.74 %, and for Cystoseira indica were 43.18, 11.95, 22.37 and 37.71%, respectively. The algae of Nizamuddin zanardinii was found only in two regions of Chabahar and Tang with 32.85 and 50.48% of relative density. The minimum frequency of Sargassum was found from May to August and for Cystoseira Was from June to August with 12. 5q and for Nizamuddinia was in August-September with 0.0%. On the other hand, the maximum frequency for three species were recognized from October to February with 100.0% frequency for Sargassum and Cystoseira, and 50.0% for Nizamuddinia. Also, the annual wet biomass in regions or Gwatr, Chabahar, Tang and Galak were estimated separately for each species consist of: - Sargassum glaucescens with 626.9, 117.8, 183.4 and 42.5 g/m2 - Cystoseira indica with 739.9, 95.2, 504.5 and 436.7 g/m2 - Nizamuddinia zanardini with 1352.2 and 1208.5 g/m2 in two regions of Chabahar and Tang.

This study was determined some important extracted materials, Such as : Alginates of sodium & calcium and alginic acid in three species of brown seaweeds (Sargassum illicifolium , Cystoseira indica and Nizimuddinia zanardinii) during in different season in 1387 in coastal erea of Sistan and Baluochestan Provience. At First seaweeds sample were colected from sea beach and transferd to lab, so washed in fresh water and dried in the sun. So were under Alkaloid extraction with sodium carbonate (5 Persent), that were obtined fluid after filteration. The sodium alginate fibers extracted from fluid were combined by Alcohol. The calacium alginate fibers were deposited by calacium chlorids (5%) and Alginic acid resulted with chloridric acid (1N). If the Alginic acid become more than 20 present, it can be economical, that it can be showed more than 20 present in Autumn and Winter. This research aimed to study the process of long and location changes of sea star (Astropecten hemprichi) and sea urchin (Diadema setosum) in the coast of Chabahar Gulf in the Oman Sea, IR. during November 2008 to September 2009. The area of study was at the farthest end of south east of Iran in province of Sistan and Balouchestan. Sampling was done bimonthly during low tide from 5 stations, using 1m×1m quadrating randomly. 1885 samples of Echinodermata were collected and studied. Results showed that 32 of them(1.6%) belong to A.hemprichi species and 28(1.4%) samples belong to D. setosum species. The samples then were counted and identified. Then the samples’ abundance, distribution and stability were investigated. The results show that the maximum abundance of A. hemprichi was occurred in September 2009 (1/92±0/76ind.m^-2) and The maximum value for D. setosum was shown in November 2008 (3ind.m-2). Investigation of distribution and stability indicators may reveal that A. hemprichi and D. setosum were dispersed more randomly and they may be considered as the rare species.

The silver pomfret, Pampus argenteus, is distributed in Indo-western pacific ocean, especially in Persian Gulf and Oman sea, and although is widely commercially exploited, the genetics structure of this species is not clear completely. In the present study, the genetic diversity and population structure of Pampus argentus in the Persian Gulf and Oman Sea were investigated using microsatellite DNA markers. Genomic DNA from 125 specimens was extracted and PCR amplification performed. Seven loci with reasonable polymorphism were amplified. The results showed that average of observed heterozygosity was ranged from 0.54 while expected heterozygosity was 0.67. After applying the Hardy-Weinberg Equilibrium (HWE) test, some loci were found to be significantly deviated from HWE in some populations in which deficiency of heterozygotes was apparent. Monthly sampling of red algae was carried out from April 2005 to March 2006 in Chabahar coasts (southestern of Iran) along Sistan & Baluchistan province coastal waters. We considered monthly periods of maximum tide according to tide tables. Then seaweed growth area in intertidal zones was determind through GPS, GIS and satellite imagery. Monthly sampling was conducted on a number of transects with equal distance and in randomly chosen 50×50cm quadrates. The samples were transfered to Offshore Waters Research Center’s lab and after cleaning and separating, the weight of each species recognized was measuerd according to the present references. The biomass of each species was obtained per area unit and in the total area after determing the average weight of species. During this research, 13 species of medicinal red algae were recognized, and the most important families included: Gelidiaceae, Gracilariaceae, Hypneaceae and Rhodomelaceae. Total biomass in the area of Chabahar Coasts were 865.2 tons and the monthly average was 72.1 tons. The maximum biomass was obtained in February as 149.8 tons (828g/m2) and the minimum biomass was seen in May as 16.3 tons (90.2g/m2 ). The maximum biomass belonged to Gracilaria corticata (%33.1) and the minimum biomass to Hypnea pannosa (%1).

Population structure of 2 species in the Caspian Sea (Rutilus frissi kutum and Rutilus rutilus) and 2 species in the Persian Gulf and Oman sea (Rachycentron canadum and Polynemus Plebeius) were studid by using Microsatellite and RAPD. For this 210 specimens of kutum (Khoshkrud, Tonekabon, Gorganrud, Anzali Lagoon and Kura River mouth), 90 (Gorgan Bay, Anzali Lagoon and Volga), 184 of cobia (Bushehr, daier, Bandarabass, bazm, lengeh) and 235 of (Khozestan, Bushehr, Bandarabass and chabahar) were sampled. Genomic DNA was extracted of fin using the phenol-chloroform .The quantity and quality of DNA from samples were assessed by spectrophptometer and 1% agarose gel electro-phoresis. PCR was carried out using microsatellite and RAPD primers. PCR products were separated on 8% polyacrylamide gels that were stained using silver nitrate. Result showed that in kutum the average of expected and observed heterozygosity was 0.54 and 0.49 respectively. Significant deviations from Hardy-Weinberg expectations were observed almost in all of location (P≤0.01, (P≤0.05). Using Fst and Rst there was significant difference between locations (P≤0.01). In study of Rutilus rutiluscaspicu the average of expected and observed heterozygosity was 0.5 and 0.7 respectively. Fst didn t show significant difference between iranian locations (P≥ 0.01) but it was Significant between Iranian populations and Russian populations (P≤ 0.05). In cobia the average of expected and observed heterozygosity was 0.655 and 0.874 respectively. Research project was conducted on some biological aspects of lobster in Oman Sea in the years1385-86. During the project some parameters such as length distribution, spawning peak, length (Carapace) at first maturity, the length at which 50% of the lobsters were found to be mature sexually, sex ratio, relative frequency index and population dynamics parameters were examined. Quantitative factors and catch composition of lobster including the amount of catch in terms of weight and number of ovigerous-female, under-sized specimens and so were compared by monthly. According to the results of present study caught specimens were male with carapace length of 22 and 110 mm respectively. The smallest ovigerous female was taken as 46mm CL when length at first maturity was estimated to be 69-70mm. the male: female ratio was 0.7: 1.3 for the whole year. A closed fishing season for the species is proposed during spring and September and October in Oman Sea. A large amount of the catches for the all sampling months came from the under-sized specimens, consist of 50 to 85% of the total catch. Therefore, presence of these small length groups have direct effects on time of closing season. Population dynamics parameters were calculated as follows: K=0.57 year, L∞= 103mm and Ǿ = 8.69. Total mortality (Z), natural mortality (M) and fishing mortality (F) coefficients were calculated as 2.73, 0.87 and 1.86, respectively. Exploitation ratio for the whole population was 0.681, indicating an overexploitation of the species. Based on the available data, the recruitment pattern for lobster was obtained for two season including spring (major) and autumn (minor). Catch per unite effort (CPUE) was calculated as 0.908 kg/Cage/day which was higher in comparison with two other areas including Ramin and Chabahar. Examination of CPUE for a 10-year period showed a decreased trend and the reduction for the year 1386 was about 30% when compared to the data from the year 1375. Moreover, the mean length during 1369-70 to 1385-86 (present study) decreased for the three areas including Pozm, Ramin and Chabahar, so that the carapas length decreased up to 10 mm in length. This sudden decrease in mean length during the 10-year period should be considered as a serious precariousness for sustainable exploitation of lobster in Oman Sea along Sistan and Baluchistan province.

Culture of Gracilaria was carried out in two 0.25 ha earthen ponds from October 2000 to September 2001. Data were acquired for 4 seasons. Culture system was fixed bottom line method. We could culture 500 grams of Gracilaria on each line in about 9 weeks. The seaweed reached a maximum growth in 6 to 7 weeks with its biomass being 2.3 times of the initial biomass in Autumn, 2.6 times in Winter, 2.7 times in Spring and 2.4 times in Summer. One way ANOVA showed that average weight was not similar in various seasons. The avearage daily growth rate in different seasons was between 43 to 34.3 grams.

The brown algae of Sargassum glaucescens is found all along the coastal waters of Sistan and Balouchestan province in the Oman Sea. This species as a raw material can be used in different industries and is considered as an economical marine resources. In order to determine the distribution pattern and biomass of this species eleven growing regions were surveyed from Gwatr area in east and Miedany in west. The sampling were carried out monthly in inter-tidal zone and seasonally in subtidal zone. After sampling, the wet-and dry weight, mean length of taIls and number of branches were measured. Also, some physical and chemical parameters were measured. The results showed that brown algae is distributed all along the studied area in the second half of the year, meanwhile in the Gwatr area is found all seasons. The mean biomass of S. glaucescen,y in Gwatr, Chabahar, Tang and Galak was estimated 629.9, 235.5,314.4 and 127.5 g/m2, respectively.

Population density, distribution and biomass of macrobenthic fauna in Chabahar Bay were investigated from May 1995 to Match 1996 on a bimonthly basis. The most abundant groups were Amphipods (21.0%), Polychaetes (19.0%), Gastropods (15.7%) and Bivalves (10.6%). Maximum (13000 individuals/m^2) and minimum (4600 individuals/m2) were observed in May and July, respectively. The changes in density were influenced by monsoon season of the Indian Ocean. Spatial and temporal variation in biomass were recorded for all groups separately. The lowest biomass was observed during monsoon period (July-September) with a mean of 51.5g dry wt/m^2 and the highest in premonsoon period (March-May) with an average 164.8gr dry wt/m^2. Furthermore, the average biomass of total macrofauna in the survey area estimated as 109.3 g dry wt/m^2 (corresponding to 481.0 wet wt/m^2) Having these figures, the annual production of Macrobenthic fauna was estimated for the whole studied area. The potential yield of demersal fishery resources (fish and crustacean) was then estimated to be 15390 tons/year. Accordingly the annual exploitable demersal fishery resources for the entire Chabahar Bay was estimated to be 7700 to 8500) tons/year.
