Karcinom prostate je drugi uzrok smrtnosti među karcinomima. To je trenutno najčešći karcinom među muškom populacijom i svake godine se dijagnosticira 2,6 milijuna novih slučajeva. Prostata je neparan organ smješten u zdjelici ispod mokraćnog mjehura. To je žljezdani organ građen od tubuloalveolarnih žlijezda kojima se odvodni kanali otvaraju u prostatični dio mokraćne cijevi. Za patohistološku dijagnostiku koristimo dvije metode klasifikacije tumora prostate, to su Gleasonova skala i TNM klasifikacija. Najčešće je riječ o adenokarcinomu epitelnih stanica perifernog tkiva prostate. Gleasonovom skalom određuje se stupanj mikroskopski promijenjenih stanica raka prostate u odnosu na normalno tkivo prostate. Klinička klasifikacija odnosno TNM predstavlja staging karcinom to jest zahvaćenost tkiva i okolnih struktura karcinomom. Osnovni dijagnostički postupci za postavljanje dijagnoze karcinoma prostate su DRP, PSA, TRUS i biopsija prostate. U ovoj retrospektivnoj studiji provedena je analiza medicinske dokumentacije 489 pacijenata dijagnosticiranih i liječenih zbog karcinoma prostate na Klinici za urologiju, Kliničkog bolničkog centra Rijeka u vremenskom razdoblju od 2013. do 2018. godine. Broj pacijenata je u porastu iz godine u godinu. Dijagnostički kriteriji poput dobi pacijenta, PSA i Gleason zbroja slijede očekivane vrijednosti. Među stadijima operiranih pacijenata prevladavaju niži stadiji što je dobar pokazatelj kliničkog rada., Prostate cancer is the second leading cause of death among cancers. In this retrospective study, an analysis of the medical records of 489 patients diagnosed and treated for prostate cancer at the Clinic of Urology, Clinical Hospital Center Rijeka in the period from 2013 to 2018 was conducted.
