The article examines the reason behind the demise of the Liberal Party (LP) in South Africa in the 1960s. Topics discussed include the connection between the history of the African Resistance Movement (ARM) and the formation of the LP in 1953 to use parliamentary means to change South African politics, damage caused by a suitcase with explosives placed by ARM member John Harris on a whites only concourse of Johannesburg Park station, and role of the ARM association of LP in its demise.
