This work deals with the question of whether an addition and an accompanying conversion of the old stock of a Wilhelminian style residential building in Vienna can be carried out in a sustainable way, assuming technical and aesthetic equivalence. The elaboration is based on a comprehensive research and analysis of past and present conditions. On the basis of a design plan for a concrete example object in Schlachthausgasse, a solution for this question is searched. This is developed on the basis of a detailed development study in compliance with the building regulations for the building site in question. Comprehensive planning measures optimize the design from an ecological and building biological point of view as far as possible. All approaches taken are explained with appropriate justifications and proofs. The result of the present work is supported by a klimaaktiv building evaluation. The findings from the developed work should contribute to more sustainable building for future expansions. vorgelegt von: Rene Stol Auch als Printexemplar verfügbar Masterarbeit Wien, FH Campus Wien 2021

Subject: friction piles are calculated by the first and second group of limit states. The article describes a new method for friction pile design by the second group (by settlement) of limit state in relation to the pile foundations of buildings and structures in the urban area and in the design of extensions to existing buildings in which the value of settlement is limited or unacceptable. A new method of piles settlement calculation is different from existing method by the Building Code SP 24.13330.2011. The method is based on a new approach of the pile behavior in soil base, which is different from the existing regulations and science papers. Research objectives: the new method of pile settlement calculation is presented with the purpose of clarifying the calculation of pile bearing capacity unlike an existing method in the Building Code (SP 24.13330.2011). The basis of the design is a new idea of the pile behavior in the soil base, which differs from the existing approaches. Materials and methods: the method consists in the formation of the pile settlement only as a result of pile shortening from the compressive force by the deformation of the pile material. Results: the design equation is presented for calculation the pile settlement caused by the pile material deformation. The condition for determining the pile length is presented, which provides the pile settlement only due to the pile material deformation. Conclusion: such approach of the pile settlement calculation is necessary for the design of extensions to existing buildings, as well as new structures near existing buildings, in which the settlement value is already close to the ultimate value of settlement. The article presents the examples of pile settlement calculations obtained by various methods (including the method of the Building Code SP 24.13330.2011) for comparison of the results. The article can be used in the piles design and in the formation of new design standards for pile foundations of structures and machines.

This thesis is focused on the conceptual design of the renovation and extension of a single family house located in Tirol. In an effort to create additional residential space the property is rebuild into 7 seperate housing units. The design criteria for this project are the local, historical building characteristics of the area as well as sustainable optimization efforts. With a focus on the region and the existing building, traditional characteristics, regional materials, climatical requirements and energy efficiency are the core elements of this project. Sustainable building and the redevelopment of existing buildings play a vital role in modern architecture. Both these aspects are combined into one concept in this project.

The topic of the bachelor thesis is the feasibility study of building modifications and extensions of the firehouse in Borovany, which is used by the local firemen society and volunteer fire brigade. The thesis is divided into three parts. The first part contains a literature search, which deals with the background of organizations operating in the field of fire protection and their historical development in the Czech Republic depending on the period legislation. In connection with this development, the present and history of fire equipment and fire objects are described. The second part deals with the description of the area of interest and the gradual development of the observed object from the original building, through a number of modifications to the current state. Furthermore, it justifies the proposed modifications to the object in relation to the activities to which it is currently being used. The third part is focused on the actual design of the new modifications and new layouts including approximate ground plans.

Design and construction of masonry building extension in seismic active regions, based on fundamental principles is considered in this paper. Basic principles of modeling, design and construction of elements, as well as the principal methods of foundations, vertical and horizontal elements strengthening is presented. It is concluded that masonry buildings extension issues are not entirely covered by technical norms. It is essential to comprehend and analyze existing structural system and building condition before reaching the structure extension decision, and to apply engineering principles in design and construction procedures.

geodetic supervision ,geodetic control ,building extension ,deformation monitoring - Abstract
In order to increase the workspace, the owner of the Euroherc building in Zagreb, had decided to extend building from the existing eight floors to the thirteen floors and to reconstruct entire building. It was specificied in the project, that new floors will be build on the four pillar blocks with three pillars in a block, they should be almost "invisible" and the building must be in function for all time during construction works. Geodetic works of supervision and control of constructing works, as well as establishing up a geodetic control for purpose of building extension and reconstruction, have been done by employees of the Chair of Engineering Geodesy, Faculty of Geodesy, University of Zagreb. The geodetic control has been established as a local control with the origin of the coordinate system below Earth surface (underground garage). In addition, the new geodetic control had to be incorporated in the local geodetic control which was used for the project design. The origin of this coordinate system were in the underground garage too. Due to a bad construction site condition, the biggest problem was to "take out" the local control from the garage and to stabilize local control points. From these points were precisly staked out pillar axises from the ground floor to the last floor of the building. Besides geodetic control establisment and supervision of all geodetic works, actual situation was carried out, deformation monitoring and geodetic report for building registration has been made. The most interesting geodetic works will be described in this paper.
