Improving the rate of development of process control technologies or a structural adaptation of the firm to the lag in process control technologies are the only viable alternatives to address the shortfall in process control systems. The structural adaptation is the only viable method to address the shortfall since accelerating the development of process control technologies are dependent on many uncontrollable factors. Some of the structural adaptation that can be utilized are tailored along establishing operating values for several process parameters or minimizing process parameters departures from normative values.
