Abstract

The EC has decided to lift the antitrust immunity of 16 container shipping lines belonging to the Trans-Atlantic Conference Agreement (TACA). EC competition commissioner Karel Van Miert stated that the decision clearly showed that the commission does not approve of TACA. He added that sanctions could be imposed should the conference continue to refuse to follow EC policy.
