A study conducted in Japan compared the risk of major bleeding among Japanese patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) and coronary artery disease (CAD) who were prescribed different oral anticoagulants. The study found that non-vitamin K antagonist oral anticoagulants (NOACs) dabigatran and rivaroxaban were associated with a lower risk of major bleeding compared to warfarin. Dabigatran had a lower risk of major bleeding than rivaroxaban. The study suggests that NOACs may have better clinical outcomes for Japanese patients with AF and CAD compared to warfarin.
