The known data on the morphology of paratellurite single crystals grown from melt by the Czochralski method are analyzed. The structure of faces is studied by scanning electron microscopy and interference profilometry, and their inclination angles to the pulling axis are measured. Based on calculations, the found faces are indexed as {113}.

Aim. A comparative analysis of mertoplasty results for treatment of uterine scar leak by different approaches. Materials and methods. A retrospective analysis of hospital records of 51 patients was made, which were divided into three groups depending on the surgical approach used: group 1 – laparotomy access, group 2 – laparoscopic access, group 3 – transvaginal access. All patients had hysteroscopic and ultrasound signs of uterine scar leak after cesarean section (thickness of the myometrium in the scar area less than 4 mm, discontinuity of the scar). Aim. To reduce incidence of mesh-related complications by comparative analysis of the results of vaginal extraperitoneal mesh-vaginopexy with use of trocar and anchoring systems.Materials and methods. A retrospective analysis of outpatient and hospital charts of 160 patients was performed, who underwent operative treatment of genital prolapse by vaginal extraperitoneal vaginopexy with Prolift, Johnson & Johnson, USA, Pelvix (Lintex, RF), Elevate (AMS, USA) and the Calistar system (Promedon, Argentina). The duration of postoperative follow-up was 3 years. In the 1st group, the patients were operated on using trocar techniques (Prolift, Pelvix). The second group consisted of patients operated on with the use of anchor technologies using the Elevate and Calistar methods. The article presents the remote results (time-period more than 1 year) of application of percutaneous laser destruction in treatment of nodular goiter in 164 patients. The reliable decreasing of dimensions and size of nodular formations of thyroid gland in early time-periods with continuation of regression during a year is established. In the following, slight regression was marked during 3,5-5 years. The morphological analysis established that in remote time-periods after percutaneous laser destruction of nodular proliferating colloid goiter the destroyed follicular epithelium and colloid are replaced by connective tissue structures with large amount of collagen guaranteeing long-term predictive result.

Parameters of insulin resistance and lipid transport were studied in nonobese subjects and in obese subjects with different body fat distribution, and the results were compared with current concepts of the physiological and biochemical mechanisms of abdominal (android) and gluteofemoral (gynoid) types of obesity, concomitant dyslipoproteinemias, and the roles of insulin and insulin resistance in these conditions. Disturbances of the hormonal regulation of lipid metabolism, which manifest themselves as hyperinsulinemia, insulin resistance, and a decreased serum level of the insulin antagonist somatotropin, were associated only with abdominal obesity and were considered to be one of the main causes of atherogenic dyslipoproteinemia in this type of obesity.

Purpose: To define of efficacy of a laser ablation of subcentimetric thyroid nodules. Material and methods: 130 patients (age – 43.9+15.1 years) with nodular goiter in the sizes less than 1 cm (infracentimetric nodules was treated. Laser ablation (power 3.5 W) was performed with ultrasound guidance (Medison Pico, linear 7.5 – 15 MHz probes) of conducting a 0.4 mm optical fiber. Control US studies are performed on 1, 3, 6 and more months after destruction. US studied change of the sizes, volume, echoic, echostructure, vascularity of nodules. Results: Positive effects of laser destruction in treatment of infrabcentimetric thyroid nodules was achieved in most cases. US criteria for destruction efficacy are as follows: nodule size reduction more than 50%, nodule fragmentation, change in echostructure, indistinct margins, hypo- or avascularity in CDI. In 107 cases (90%) infracentimetric nodules have decreased in volume, including at 19 cases (14.6%) disappearance of focuses. The relative quantity hypoechoic (> 0.05), isoechoic (p < 0.01), anecogenic (p < 0.01) nodules has decreased, hyperechoic nodules (p < 0.01) was enlarged. As a result of destruction the blood stream has not been defined in 55.9% of nodules and has been considerably relaxed in 41.4%. Appearance of hyperechoic focuses (12.6%) and points of calcination (8.1%) was noted. In most cases (83.8%) nodules had indistinct borders. Conclusion: Results of laser destruction at patients with thyroid nodules less than 10 mm in diameter authentically are better, than at focuses of the larger sizes (χ2 = 6.218, p < 0.05). That allows to recommend laser destruction at treatment of small thyroid nodules.
