A product design and development process has been adopted to study and improve the performance of unit cleaner system. A hair trimmer with liquid detergent in cartridge is fixed as a cleaner system to design and analyse. The 3D model of the system is designed with NX CAD software. The modification is cartridge unit is made on counter face to increase the turbulence of the fluid in the wash zone. The file has been extracted and imported in LS Dyna for meshing the model for detergent liquid flow analysis. The velocity vector and pressure magnitude of the fluid flow is analysed through a StarCCM+ higher fluid analysis software. The input process condition of the pump in cartridge assemble unit has a speed 2000 rpm and velocity of the liquid as 1 m/s. From the analysis, the suction pressure noticed at the pump zone is 950 Pa and the discharge of fluid in the pump is 850 – 900 Pa at wash zone. Difference in fluid velocity found decreased and it is in the range of 0.8 to 0.95 m/s. The predominant factor in the design is alternate openings in case baffle has increased the turbulence in pressure and the velocity of the fluid found same.

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is the group of diseases where the patient suffers from higher levels of sugar in blood over a prolonged time. Machine learning classifier helps to predict the disease based on the condition of the symptom suffered by the patient. The aim of this paper is to compare the performance of the machine learning tree classifiers in predicting Diabetes Mellitus (DM). Machine learning tree classifiers such as Random Forest, C4.5, Random Tree, REPTree, and Logistic Model Tree (LMT) were analyzed based on their accuracy and True Positive Rate (TPR). In this analysis of predicting diabetes mellitus Logistic Model Tree (LMT) machine learning tree classifier achieved higher accuracy of 79.31%, True Positive Rate (TPR) of 0.739 and an execution time of 1.09 sec than other classifiers under study.

Background: Women with triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) have a more aggressive clinical course, with a higher propensity to metastasize and a worse outcome due to a lack of effective therapies and significant intratumoral and intertumoral heterogeneity. Development of novel therapeutic strategies represents a clear unmet need. We have developed a first-in-class compound, an oligobenzamide, ERX-41, that has anti-proliferative activity against all six molecular subtypes of TNBC. Methods: In vitro activity of ERX-41 on TNBC cell lines was tested using CellTiter glo, MTT, and apoptosis assays. Efficacy of ERX-41 was tested using TNBC patient derived explants (PDEs) ex vivo, cell line-derived xenografts (CDXs), and patient derived xenografts (PDX) in vivo. To examine the mechanism, we conducted mass spec analyses using total lysates of TNBC cells treated with vehicle or ERX-41. Results: ERX-41 demonstrated potent activity in both blocking proliferation and inducing apoptosis in 30 distinct cell line models of TNBC, (representing all six molecular subtypes of TNBC), with an IC50 that ranges from 50-250nM. Incubation of ERX-41 with PDEs from primary TNBC patient tumors ex vivo caused a significant reduction in proliferation indices, as measured by Ki67 staining. ERX-41 also decreased proliferation and increased apoptosis in explants from TNBC CDX and PDX tumors cultured ex vivo. Oral administration of ERX-41 (10 mg/kg/daily) was shown to be non-toxic and dramatically limited the growth of CDX tumors derived from MDA-MB-231, SUM-159 or D2A1 syngeneic tumors. Importantly, ERX-41 treatment also significantly reduced tumor progression in four TNBC PDX (PDX-1, PDX-89, PDX-96 and PDX-98) models compared to the vehicle treated control group. Our ultrastructural and molecular studies indicate that ERX-41 induces significant endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress within TNBC cells but not in primary epithelial cells. Global mass spectrometry studies indicated that ERX-41 treatment resulted in the alteration [down regulation (265 proteins) or upregulation (218 proteins)] of 483 proteins out of ~4000 proteins quantified with two or more peptides. Reactome pathway analysis indicated that the top pathways modulated by ERX-41 included Intra-Golgi and retrograde Golgi-to-ER traffic, membrane trafficking and TP53 mediated apoptosis. ER stress induced by ERX-41 blocks de novo protein synthesis, and triggers ER-assisted degradation (ERAD) pathways, causing TNBC apoptotic cell death. Conclusions: ERX-41 is orally bioavailable, non-toxic, and demonstrated activity in primary PDEs, CDXs and PDXs. The ability of ERX-41 to induce ER stress and apoptotic cell death in multiple types of TNBC suggests that this drug targets a fundamental weakness in TNBC cells (the high basal level of ER stress) and can effectively overcome the heterogeneity of TNBC. These studies strongly support the further clinical translation of ERX-41. Climate change has become unequivocal with its implications in every aspects of life and livelhood options, including agriculture. The present paper analyzes the agrarian households’ perception on climate change, identify the major agricultural practices adopted to minimize the effects of climate change and their determinants in Rasuwa district of Nepal. Nepal's agricultural production system being rain-fed in nature, the impact of climate change on productivity and production has already been experienced. During the study, the purposive sampling technique was adopted while selecting the VDCs located within the buffer zone of Langtang National Park. Four VDCs namely Laharepauwa, Dhaibung, Dhunche and Syaphru were purposively selected representing paddy, wheat, maize, and potato production area of the district. Thirty households from each VDC were interviewed by using the structured questionnaire totaling a sample size of 120 households. In addition, the present study also used Focus Group Discussions with local government officials, buffer zone communities and other stakeholders about the climate change knowledge and adaptation, and to assess perception on different climate change related threats and strategies adapted to cope the impact. Information with regard to the experience of the respondent in cultivating the crop in question, changes in rainfall amount and time, seasonal change in temperature and their effect on the time of planting and yield, and the adaptation strategy were collected. The factors influencing whether to adopt climate adaptation practices in agriculture was analyzed using binary logit model. The education level of household head, household size, food self-sufficiency from their own production and inadequacy of current knowledge on agricultural adaptation influenced the adoption. In the Nepalese context, where agricultural occupation is the dominant means of living, climate adaptation seems to be the most efficient and friendly way for farmers to neutralize the potential adverse effects. The farmer’s knowledge and skills on techniques of adaptation need to be enhanced and support in availing such practices and technologies which may result for better adoption. The awareness raising campaigns need to be organized and indigenous knowledge and practices should be documented and verified for further replication.

The chapter assesses the impact of climate change on agricultural production, food security, livelihoods, and economy. It reviews the ongoing and planned policies, plans, programs and projects to respond to the impacts of climate change. It also identifies policy responses and technology needs to help smallholders adapt to climate change impacts. The mainstreaming of climate resilience at the policies, plans and programs, developing and strengthening institutions for better service delivery, and ensuring and increasing the finance for research and development activities should be prioritized.

One of the major policies in response to global climate change is reduction of green house gases emission. Community forests of Nepal are acting as major sources and sink of green house gases, in spite of providing socio-economic benefits to the user groups. There is a lack of information on whether community forests address the socio-economic disparity of user groups, and how it affects opportunity cost and willingness to pay to the forest users groups. Focusing on how the socio-economic conditions of forest users affect forest management, opportunity cost and willingness to pay; and effect of carbon trading mechanism and discounting on the cost benefit ratio, this study was carried out in one CF in western Nepal. The data collection methods included carbon stock measurement, household survey, focus group discussion and key informant interview. Study has shown that most of the forest users are in medium and poor economic classes and female involvement in forest conservation and management was remarkable. Poor people had high dependency on forest product and are most likely affected in terms of opportunity cost. Rich people were willing to pay more to sustain forest ecosystem services. Benefit cost ratio measured directly with and without discounting was 3.91 and 2.97, respectively. The findings of the present study indicate that the community forests users groups are benefitted from the current state of management. The objective of this paper is to investigate experimentally the optimum process parameters (cutting speed, feed rate and depth of cut) resulting in an optimization of material removal rate (MRR) and tool wear while turning of hardened AISI 52100 steel under dry cutting conditions using Taguchi method. A L9 orthogonal array, signal-to-noise(S/N) ratio and analysis of variances (ANOVA) are applied with the help of Minitab.v.16.2.0 software to study performance characteristics of process parameters with consideration of Material Removal Rate (MRR) and Tool wear. The results obtained from the experiments are changed into signal-to-noise ratio(S/N) ratio and used to optimize the value of MRR and tool wear The ANOVA is performed to identify the importance of parameters. The conclusions arrived at are considerably discussed at the end.

In this paper, a PVT compensated, 10 MHz oscillator in 0.11 µm BCD9S (Bipolar CMOS DMOS) technology for embedded phase change memories (PCM) is reported. The proposed oscillator produces a frequency deviation of ±0.4% for typical corner, ±2% for slow corner and ±1.5% for fast corner around 10 MHz across −40 °C to 150 °C at a regulated supply of 1.8 V. It is a significant advancement in the existing state-of-the-art for frequency references.

This retrospective study reports the 1-year outcome in women who underwent mesh-augmented Prolift surgery performed from 2006 to 2008. There were a total of 254 patients, with 128, 106 and 20 patients receiving total, anterior and posterior Prolift, respectively.Incidence of thigh pain was lower in 2008 compared to 2006 and 2007 (p0.0001). The percentage of patients requiring blood transfusions (p = 0.09), duration of IDC ≥ 7 days (p = 0.27), wound dehiscence and re-operation rate were lower in 2008 in contrast to 2006 and 2007 (p = 0.43). Only 209 patients (82.3%) were available for review at 1 year. There were two (1.0%) cases of recurrent vault prolapse.The subjective and objective cure rates at 1 year after this mesh implant surgery in 2006, 2007 and 2008 were 92.1% and 92.1%; 97.0% and 92.4% and 100% and 97%, respectively. The mesh erosion rate was remarkably lower in 2008 as compared to 2007 and 2006 (p0.001).This synthetic mesh-augmented implant surgery is effective and safe, and surgical outcome appears related to the learning curve of the surgeon.

Multiple stab wounds are very common features of homicidal stabbing. The common findings differentiating homicidal and suicidal stabbing are well described in the medical literature. Among the features mentioned are location, shape, and direction of the wounds. These features are vital in differentiating suicide from homicide. However, this case has an unusual presentation. We discuss the importance of interpretation and differentiation of the stab wounds to determine the manner of death and facilitate the investigation. A 29-year-old male presented with multiple stab wounds. There was no witness at the time of the incident. The body was discovered in his room with pools of blood. A knife was present on his body. No tentative cuts were present on the body. Scene investigation and postmortem examination determined the cause and manner of death.

A serological study to know the antibody titer against rabies virus in human beings, who are at occupational risk, was conducted in Nepal in 2014. A total 44 serum samples were collected out of which 21 samples were collected from medical professionals (working at Sukraraj Tropical Hospital) and 23 were collected from veterinary professionals (working at Central Veterinary Hospital, Central Veterinary Laboratory and Rabies Vaccine Production Laboratory) in Kathmandu. Among the 44 samples, 4 were collected from unvaccinated persons. The other 40 people sampled were vaccinated with inactivated rabies vaccine. All samples were subjected to the Rabies Fluorescent Focus Inhibition Test (RFFIT) test at Centre for Disease Control and Prevention, Atlanta, USA. The antibody level of 7 persons was found to be less than the WHO recommended titer of 0.5 IU/ml. Six medical professionals and one veterinary professional had a low rabies virus neutralizing antibody titer. The 4 samples collected from unvaccinated persons, and 3 collected from vaccinated persons had a titer below 0.5 IU/ml. This study shows that medical and veterinary professionals who are responsible to nurse or handle rabies patients, rabid animals or rabies virus are still at high risk. This underscores the importance of recommendations for regular serological testing of occupationally exposed individuals and vaccinating booster dose when necessary.

J2ME services play an important role in the field of Communication industry. In this paper, we discuss and analyze the consumptive behaviour and a detailed analysis of Ant Colony Algorithm for implementation of object pool optimization. We also discuss some of the wireless technologies like CLDC, MIDP and RMS so that our comprehensive study can achieve the goal of implementation of Object Pool. The goal is to discover knowledge that is not only accurate but also comprehensible based on Ant Colony algorithm.

Today the concept of Data Mining services is not alone sufficient. Data mining services play an important role in the field of Communication industry. Data mining is also called knowledge discovery in several database including mobile databases and for heterogeneous environment. In this paper, we discuss and analyze the consumptive behavior based on data mining technology. We discuss and analyze different aspects of data mining techniques and their behavior in mobile devices. We also analyze the better method or rule of data mining services which is more suitable for mobile devices. In this paper, we propose a novel DAM (Define Analyze Miner) Based data mining approach for mobile computing environments. In DAM approach, we first propose about the environment according to the requirement and need of the user where we define several different data sets, then DAM analyzer accept and analyze the data set and finally apply the appropriate mining by the DAM miner on the accepted dataset. It is achieved by CLDC and MIDP component of J2ME.

One major Disadvantage of OFDM is the high peak-to average Power ratio (PAPR). One investigated technique Selected Mapping (SLM) is PAPR reduction techniques for Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM). In this paper we proposed a Modernize SLM (MSLM) scheme to reduce the PAPR by using the complex signal separate into real & imaginary parts and individually phase sequence multiple real as well as imaginary part of complex signal then select minimum PAPR signal of real & imaginary and these are combine. The simulation show achieves good PAPR., which is one of the strong candidate for Future wireless communication.

Japanese encephalitis (JE) is an emerging disease of animals and humans in Nepal. A serological study for antibody to JE virus was conducted in Nepal from September 2003 to August 2004 by collecting 280 sera from pigs, ducks, and horses covering 10 districts of the country. These sera were tested by performing competitive enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for the detection of antibodies against JE virus. The total number of tested sera was 280, of which 43.92% were found positive for the presence of antibodies against JE virus infection in Nepal. Sero-prevalence of JE in pigs, ducks, and horses was 48.11%, 26.79%, and 50.0%, respectively.

The paper recognizes Non Timber Forest Products (NTFPs) as contributing factor for improving livelihoods of the rural people. Existing trend of NTFPs in Rolpa district reveals high level of its potential where a single Malagiri tree in the one of the VDC of the district has yielded profit of 15, 000 NRs. in gross. The study supports idea that the quality of life can be secured through the promotion of NTFP as an additional crop for safety net. Major outlet clusters for NTFP trade and marketing of the Rolpa district are Sulichaur and Holeri regions where mostly NTFP species were found to be traded. Malagiri, Timur, Ritha and Allo are major local species that have a high level of demand in the market. As a result, people have started cultivating a few species in their farmland too. Lack of knowledge and skill in the production of standard commodity has compelled district people towards traditional NTFP farming approach where they are not reaping optimum benefit. Realizing the potential of NTFPs in the district, it is important to consider modernizing the processing of raw material, development of transportation network and undertake facility for the producers. Such intervention could be a major breakthrough in the poverty reduction of the district and securing quality of life.
