Abstract

The relationship between the type of high school science course taken and the grade earned is examined by modeling the students' later performance in college course. A common practice of adding bonus points for advanced placement (AP) and honors courses taken in high school is found and evidence is provided for high schools to calculate weighted grade point averages.
