Patient: Female, 65 Final Diagnosis: Adrenocortical insufficiency Symptoms: Anorexia and jaundice Medication: Glucocorticoid replacement Clinical Procedure: — Specialty: Gastroenterology and Hepatology Objective: Challenging differential diagnosis Background: Adrenal insufficiency is mainly due to insufficient adrenal corticosteroid hormones secretion by the adrenal cortex, which leads to clinical manifestations such as weakness, weight loss, hyperpigmentation, hypotension, and vomiting. However, the clinical manifestations of adrenocortical insufficiency may be atypical: anorexia, ascites, impaired liver function, and alacrima have been reported. Jaundice and anorexia presenting together in the same patient as the main symptoms are rare. Case Report: We present a rare case of a 65-year-old woman diagnosed as having adrenocortical insufficiency with chief complaints of anorexia and jaundice. The patient had a history of hiatus hernia and gastroesophageal reflux disease, which can easily lead to a misdiagnosis in clinical practice, which is what happened with this patient at the beginning in our hospital and in the other hospitals that treated her previously. Hiatus hernia was considered the mostly likely cause of her vomiting, and a laparotomy was done to repair the hernia at the local hospital. However, there was no improvement. After regular glucocorticoid replacement, the patient’s symptoms all soon disappeared. Conclusions: Adrenal insufficiency can atypically present as anorexia and jaundice. In order to avoid misdiagnosis, physicians should pay attention to these atypical symptoms.

A parallel hybrid power unit model has been established on Matlab/Simulink platform. A torque control strategy is put forward in this paper and four working conditions which include starting, acceleration, adding load and unloading are studied. The results of simulation indicates that the control strategy is feasible.

A calibration method based on target features circle is proposed, which can determine the camera internal parameters based on the two different CCD images. One CCD image can be obtained in a position, and the other CCD image can be gotten by moving the target or camera to a new position. The principle of the calibration method based on one-step movement is expounded. The geometrical relationship and the criteria that the camera axis is orthogonal to the target plane are proven when the CCD image is circle. Finally, the experiment results verify that the method proposed is effective, and the data of the internal calibration parameters of the camera is given.

This paper considers the problem of selecting representative images to summarize the original dataset. People search images by a keyword in traditional image retrieval system. However, the result shows a lack of diversity in semantic theme. For the problem, we propose a new method of representative image selection. We try to divide images into different categories from the semantic point of view and select canonical images based on an image clustering method. First, we use mutual nearest neighbor consistency to adjust the similarity between feature vectors as the input for the AP clustering. Then we select representative clusters based on cluster ranking and finally take the images of the cluster center from representative clusters as a summary of the image dataset. We evaluate our approach on the image dataset from Google with ten categories. The experiment results showed that the selected images can summarize the content of the original image dataset intuitively and effectively. And the selected images are diverse in semantic meaning as well.

AIM: To evaluate the undifferentiated embryonal sarcoma of liver (UESL) in adults in order to improve its diagnosis and treatment. METHODS: Four primary and one recurrent cases of UESL were clinicopathologically evaluated and immunohistochemically investigated with a panel of antibodies using the EnVision+ system. Relevant literature about UESL in adults was reviewed. RESULTS: Three males and one female were enrolled in this study. Their chief complaints were abdominal pain, weight loss, or fever. Laboratory tests, imaging and pathological features of UESL in adults were similar to those in children. Immunohistochemistry showed evidence of widely divergent differentiation into mesenchymal and epithelial phenotypes. The survival time of patients who underwent complete tumor resection followed by adjuvant transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE) was significantly longer than that of those who underwent surgical treatment alone. CONCLUSION: UESL in adults may undergo pluripotential differentiation and its diagnosis should be made based on its morphological and immunohistochemical features. Complete tumor resection after adjuvant TACE may improve the survival time of such patients.

We have demonstrated a new approach to realize the light extraction enhancement in organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) by using platinum–cobalt (Pt3Co) alloy nanoparticles (ANPs). The current efficiencies of 19.2 cd A−1 and 29.3 cd A−1 at a current density of 20 mA cm−2 are obtained for the device with Pt3Co ANPs unannealed and annealed, respectively, which correspond to a ∼46% and ∼123% enhancement compared to the control device without Pt3Co ANPs. A systematic study on the devices with and without unannealed Pt3Co ANPs shows that the significantly enhanced efficiency is mainly due to the resonance of localized surface plasmon (LSP). The analysis of surface topography, angular-dependent EL spectra and theoretical calculations of the devices with and without annealed Pt3Co ANPs reveals that the annealing treatment of Pt3Co ANPs could result in a further enhancement in light extraction due to the increased light scattering effect, thereby achieving a double-enhancement in light extraction by simultaneously realizing the resonance of LSP and the light scattering effect.
