This paper proposes a human motion recognition method based on hybrid Convolutional Neural Network-Hidden Markov Model (CNN-HMM). The main idea is to embed the posterior probability of CNN into the observation probability matrix of HMM. In order to verify the effectiveness of this method, a motion library including one standard motion posture and five non-standard motion postures is established. The experimental data are obtained by combining with the wearable motion capture suit Perception Neuron 2.0 (PN 2.0). The accuracy of leg-lifting is identified and verified by data preprocessing and data segmentation. The results show that the proposed hybrid CNN-HMM method can distinguish the non-standard motion posture from the standard motion postures with a high recognition rate of 97%.

By using the optimal stopping theory and introducing the notions of sequentially weak and strong rational expectation equilibria, we show that the time inconsistency problem may be solved with trigger reputation strategies not only for stochastic but also for non-stochastic settings even with a finite horizon. We show the existence of stationary sequentially strong rational expectation equilibrium under some condition, and there always exists a stationary sequentially weak rational expectation equilibrium. Moreover, we investigate the robustness of the sequentially strong rational expectation equilibrium behavior solution by showing that the imposed assumption is reasonable. Two efficient methods for time-dependent fatigue reliability analysis are proposed in this paper based on a random process representation of material fatigue properties and a nonlinear damage accumulation rule. The first method is developed by matching the first two central moments of the accumulated damage to a well-known probability distribution, thus facilitating a direct analytical solution of the time-dependent fatigue reliability. The second method uses the first-order reliability method to calculate the reliability index based on a time-dependent limit state function. These two methods represent different tradeoffs between accuracy and computational efficiency. The proposed methods include the covariance structure of the stochastic damage accumulation process under variable amplitude loading. A wide range of fatigue data available in the literature is used to validate the proposed methods, covering several different types of metallic and composite materials under different variable amplitude loading.

Cows affected with retained placenta are at a higher risk of developing puerperal metritis. Herbal remedies bear a high potential to treat postpartum uterine diseases in cows. The aim of this randomized clinical trial was to compare an herbal powder and ceftiofur hydrochloride in the treatment of cows affected with retained placenta and for puerperal metritis prevention. The herbal powder was prepared from a combination of Leonurus artemisia ( Laur. ) S.Y. Hu F , Angelica sinensis (OLIV.) DIELS (radix), Ligusticum chuanxiong HORT (radix), Sparganiumstoloniferum ( Graebn. ) Buch.-Ham.exJuz (radix), Curcuma zedoaria ( Christm. ) ROSC (radix), Cyperu srotundus Linn. (radix), and Glycyrrhiza uralensis FISCH (radix). A total of 157 cows diagnosed with retained placenta were randomly divided into 2 treatment groups. Cows in the herbal group ( n =85) were treated with an oral dose of 0.5 g crude herb/kg bw once daily for 1–3 day(s), and cows in the control group ( n =72) were treated with ceftiofur hydrochloride (2.2 mg/kg bw, i.m.) twice daily for 3 consecutive days. Seventy-three cows had total expulsion of the placenta within 72 h following initial herbal treatment, yet no cows in the control group expelled the placenta during the same time period, and 50 out of 73 cows achieved total expulsion of the placenta following only one herbal treatment. The median time of retained placenta shedding (20.0 vs. 101.5 h; P P =0.057, OR 5.771) within 21 days after parturition. Additionally, fewer cows in the herbal group required additional therapeutic antibiotics compared to the controls (8.2% vs. 26.4%, P =0.003). Evidence from this randomized controlled clinical trial suggested that the herbal powder is a clinically effective treatment for retained placenta and the prevention of puerperal metritis and, thus, might have great potential for the medical management of retained placenta in dairy cows.

Puerperal metritis is an important disorders usually within 21 days postpartum in dairy cattle that occurs within 21 days postpartum, and herbal remedies are believed to be beneficial for postpartum female livestock. Sheng Hua Tang is a prime example of herbal formula used as a therapeutic aid in prevention or control of postpartum disease for centuries in China. In the present study, we were to evaluate the efficacy of Sheng Hua Tang as a prophylactic strategy for lowering puerperal metritis risks and improving reproductive performance in dairy cows under field conditions. A total of 311 clinically healthy cows were randomly allocated to the intervention group or the control group 2–4 h after delivery. Treated cows ( n =158) received Sheng Hua Tang with an oral dose of 0.36 g crude herb/kg bw once daily for three consecutive days, whereas the controls ( n =153) received no treatment. The logistic regression and survival analysis were used to analyze the incidence of puerperal metritis and reproduction parameters of cows between the two groups, respectively. The results showed that there was a significant reduction in the incidence of puerperal metritis (12.1% vs. 33.3%, P =0.01, odd ratio [OR] 2.392) between Sheng Hua Tang group and the control group. The calving-to-first-service interval (68.9±17.7 days vs. 80.5±26.6 days, P P Sheng Hua Tang group than the controls. Additionally, Sheng Hua Tang treatment effectively elevated the first AI conception proportion (61.1% vs. 51.3%, P P Sheng Hua Tang immediately after delivery as a prophylactic strategy for lowering puerperal metritis risk and improving the overall reproductive efficiency of dairy herds under these study circumstances. Thus, Sheng Hua Tang treatment could represent an effective prophylactic strategy for bovine postpartum care.

Diarrhea is the leading cause of death in neonatal lambs. Herbal remedies are believed to address the conditions. We tested whether an herbal granule had a beneficial efficacy on neonatal lamb diarrhea in this study. The herbal granule was extracted from a combination of Coptis chinensi , Magnolia officinalis , Atractylodes lancea , Prunus mume and Poria cocos with a concentration of 1.0 g crude herb/g. Two hundred and sixty-six 3–10 day old lambs within 24 h from their first onset of diarrhea were randomly divided into one of two treatment groups (A and B), with animals receiving either herbal granule orally in group A ( n =117) or oxytetracycline and pepsin orally in group B ( n =109) two times daily for a maximum of 5 days at which time lambs were eligible for exit. Thirty lambs with no clinically visible pathological conditions and with no diarrhea diagnosis were availed as the normal controls (group C) to evaluate the growth performance of lamb herds during the 45-days following the treatment. Although statistically non-significant ( P =0.063), more lambs (103/117) recovered from diarrhea in group A than in group B (85/109). We found that lambs treated with the herbal granule experienced reduced days to recovery from diarrhea (3.1±0.8 vs. 3.5±0.6 days, P P P P P P P >0.05) following the treatment were higher in group A than in group C. Herbal granule used in this study might have a beneficial clinical effect under these study circumstances. Thus, herbal granule could represent a potential effective treatment strategy for neonatal lamb diarrhea.

In order to remove irrelevant data and increase classification accuracy in feature selection, this paper proposed a new Embedded feature selection method with gathering Minimal Redundancy Maximal Relevance (MRMR) criteria, Sequential Forward Selection (SFS) and Improved Binary Ant Lion Optimizer (IBALO) together. Totally, we use three different feature selection methods namely MRMR mixed with Sequential Forward Selection (MS), MS mixed with Binary Ant Lion Optimizer (MS-BALO), an improvement of MS-BALO. Experiments prove that the MS-IBALO method proposed by this paper is efficient compared to MS and MS-BALO methods.

Background: Diarrhea is a big problem in piglets. Cangpo Oral Liquid (COL) is a compound of Chinese herbal medicine. The preparation was fed to piglets had diarrheal disease in order to determine its anti-diarrhea activity and potential applications in vivo.Materials and Methods: The contents of Berberine hydrochloride, Magnolol and Honokiol in COL were performed on HPLC analysis. Organ bath was used to investigate the effect of COL on peristaltic reflexes and peristaltic waves in vitro. And anti-diarrhea activity of COL was evaluated in clinical. Results: Thin layer chromatography (TLC) and HPLC analyses showed that the contents of Berberine hydrochloride, Magnolol and Honokiol in COL were 970μg/mL, 130μg/mL and 300μg/mL, respectively. Administration of the COL to the organ bath caused a concentration-dependent inhibition of intestinal peristalsis. When the COL concentration in the bath was cumulatively increased, the amplitude and frequency of the peristaltic waves was lowered. The result of clinical efficacy of COL was very effective to diarrheic piglets. COL can possibly inhibit the curve of peristaltic waves in vitro; and clinical trial showed a statistically significant therapeutic effect in vivo. Conclusion: In conclusion, COL can be used as an effective therapeutic agent. However, the ingredients, pharmacokinetics and specific signaling pathways of COL need to be further studied.Key words: Cangpo Oral Liquid, therapeutic effect, peristalsis, herbal

Israel's Likud group is softening its stand on the Palestinian problem, and the Israeli troops withdrew from 80% of the West Bank city, Hebron on Jan 17, 1997. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has realized that the Israelis want stable peace, and the Likud policy also changed accordingly. However, withdrawal of troops is hardly a solution to the Hebron issue, while speculations are on regarding Israel's withdrawal of troops from the countryside. Peace in the Middle East is still a long way off.
