Background The mismanagement of missing data in large clinical databases may lead to inaccurate findings. The purpose of this study was to demonstrate the effects of missing data on hand surgery research findings using an analysis of postoperative morbidity in patients undergoing hospital-based hand surgery. Methods The National Surgical Quality Improvement Program database was queried for patients undergoing common hand and upper extremity surgery between 2011 and 2016. Major and minor postoperative complications were identified. Demographics, comorbidity, and preoperative laboratory values were identified, and the percentage missing of each was tabulated. To demonstrate how missing data can alter analysis results, these variables were evaluated for an association with major complications using multivariable regression on 3 separate cohorts: (1) all patients; (2) all patients after exclusion of any patient entry with >10% of missing data; and (3) after removal of any patient entry with any missing data. Results Groups 1, 2, and 3 had 48 370, 23 118, and 6280 patients, respectively. There were 14 variables associated with increased odds of major complications in group 1, yet only 10 and 9 variables for groups 2 and 3, respectively. Six variables were associated with increased major complications across all 3 groups, whereas only 1 was associated with decreased odds of major complications across all groups. Conclusions Filtering patient cohorts according to the amount of missing patient information affected analyses of predictors for major complications associated with hospital-based hand surgery. These findings highlight the importance of considering and addressing missing data in large database studies.

The growing use of imaging examinations has led to increased detection of spontaneous coronary artery dissection (SCAD) as a non-atherosclerotic cause of acute coronary syndrome (ACS). Since a greater awareness of pathophysiologic mechanisms has relevant implications in clinical practice, we aim to provide an update to current knowledge of SCAD pathophysiology. We discuss the most common conditions associated with SCAD, including predisposing factors and triggers, and focus on potential mechanisms leading to SCAD development. Furthermore, we report the main genetic research findings that have shed further light on SCAD pathophysiology. Finally, we summarize practical considerations in SCAD management based on pathophysiologic insights.

Background: The pathophysiology of necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) is not clear, but increasing information suggests that the risk and severity of NEC may be influenced by abnormalities in the enteric nervous system (ENS). Objective: The purpose of this review was to scope and examine the research related to ENS-associated abnormalities that have either been identified in NEC or have been noted in other inflammatory bowel disorders (IBDs) with histopathological abnormalities similar to NEC. The aim was to summarize the research findings, identify research gaps in existing literature, and disseminate them to key knowledge end-users to collaborate and address the same in future studies. Methods: Articles that met the objectives of the study were identified through an extensive literature search in the databases PubMed, EMBASE, and Scopus. Results: The sources identified through the literature search revealed that: (1) ENS may be involved in NEC development and post-NEC complications, (2) NEC development is associated with changes in the ENS, and (3) NEC-associated changes could be modulated by the ENS. Conclusions: The findings from this review identify the enteric nervous as a target in the development and progression of NEC. Thus, factors that can protect the ENS can potentially prevent and treat NEC and post-NEC complications. This review serves to summarize the existing literature and highlights a need for further research on the involvement of ENS in NEC.

In some fields, research findings are rigorously curated in a common language and made available to enable future use and large-scale, robust insights. Organizational researchers have begun such efforts [e.g., metaBUS ( http://metabus.org/ )] but are far from the efficient, comprehensive curation seen in areas such as cognitive neuroscience or genetics. This review provides a sample of insights from research curation efforts in organizational research, psychology, and beyond—insights not possible by even large-scale, substantive meta-analyses. Efforts are classified as either science-of-science research or large-scale, substantive research. The various methods used for information extraction (e.g., from PDF files) and classification (e.g., using consensus ontologies) is reviewed. The review concludes with a series of recommendations for developing and leveraging the available corpus of organizational research to speed scientific progress.

Indian plastic industry is one of the fastest-growing industries in the country and maintained a CAGR of more than 10 per cent in the last five years. The industry has even bigger potential to perform provided their challenges are addressed appropriately. Indian plastic processing units are mostly tiny units and classified under micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs). The plastic processing industry is undergoing a challenging phase that has been restricting its growth. The growth of the plastic processing industry is not uniform across the country and is mostly dependent upon various factors including geographical factors. Plastic is a versatile material but still considered an environmental pollutant and at the same time, heavy environmental costs are associated with its production and disposal. This has exerted an additional burden on the plastic processing industry. An empirical study was undertaken in the state of Punjab, India to suggest the remedial measures to overcome the challenges faced by the plastic processing industry. Literature review suggests that no such study was carried out in Punjab, India. The survey technique was adopted as the research strategy to collect the primary responses using a structured questionnaire. Quantitative data were gathered to attain statistical conclusions. A total of 207 valid responses were obtained mostly from the owner’s perspective. Secondary data were collected from various resources such as reliable websites, published literature, research papers, reference books, internet articles, industry bulletins and journals. The study has identified a total of 24 possible remedial measures to overcome the challenges faced by the plastic processing industry in Punjab. The current research has practical implications that are noteworthy to the professionals, industry people and policymakers as they can translate the research findings into practice that leads to improvement in business efficiency, social life and the environment.

Interest in patient-related outcome information is a prerequisite for patient-centered care, which has increasingly been recognized as an ethical imperative in modern health care. Patient-reported outcomes assess aspects of a patient's health status coming directly from the patient. Patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) intent to profoundly change the face of modern health-care delivery. PROMs are increasingly used by clinicians to guide and audit routine care and are already firmly embedded in clinical research. These important patient-centered measures are likely to have a growing impact on physiotherapists all over the world. Patient-reported outcome research findings will increasingly guide policymakers and clinicians in providing evidence-based treatment. In addition, the routine clinical use of PROMs may allow physiotherapists to more effectively track treatment impact, thus aiding the development of optimal management strategies. The Chartered Society of Physiotherapy encourages as well as promotes at every level that physiotherapists must demonstrate measurable improvements in the clinical outcomes of their patients as part of daily practice. The use of PROMs to measure health status in routine practice has some distinct advantages over the traditional research-based outcome measures, as they may directly facilitate change behavior for patients, clinicians, managers, and policymakers. Widespread adoption of PROMs across physiotherapy is, therefore, something for the profession to embrace as it has the potential to empower patients, support clinical decision-making, and drive forward quality improvement. Thus, this article aim towards highlighting the importance and usage of PROMs in clinical physiotherapy practice.

Orthopedic trauma is a major cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide. Although many fractures tend to heal if treated appropriately either by non-operative or operative methods, delayed or failed healing, as well as infections, can lead to devastating complications. Tissue engineering is an exciting, emerging field with much scientific and clinical relevance in potentially overcoming the current limitations in the treatment of orthopedic injuries. While direct translation of bone tissue engineering technologies to clinical use remains challenging, considerable research has been done in studying how cells, scaffolds, and signals may be used to enhance acute fracture healing and to address the problematic scenarios of nonunion and critical-sized bone defects. Taken together, the research findings suggest that tissue engineering may be considered to stimulate angiogenesis and osteogenesis, to modulate the immune response to fractures, to improve the biocompatibility of implants, to prevent or combat infection, and to fill large gaps created by traumatic bone loss. The abundance of preclinical data supports the high potential of bone tissue engineering for clinical application, although a number of barriers to translation must first be overcome. This review focuses on the current and potential applications of bone tissue engineering approaches in orthopedic trauma with specific attention paid to acute fracture healing, nonunion, and critical-sized bone defects.

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh secara parsial dan simultan dari variabel kedisiplinan dan kompensasi terhadap kinerja karyawan. Populasi di penelitian ini adalah karyawan di sebuah travel and tours yang ada di kota Surabaya yang berjumlah 29 orang dan digunakan keseluruhan sebagai responden. Alat analisis adalah regresi linier berganda. Temuan penelitian menyebutkan bahwa kedisiplinan memiliki pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap kinerja karyawan. Kompensasi juga memiliki pengaruh signifikan terhadap kinerja karyawan. Keduanya secara simultan berpengaruh terhadap variabel terikat.

This article provides clinicians and researchers with a summary of recent research over the past 5 years for exercise-based rehabilitation for neurogenic dysphagia. Research that utilized rehabilitation paradigms in the neurogenic population is emphasized. Numerous studies utilizing exercise-based rehabilitation in both non-neurogenic and neurogenic populations provide positive findings following treatment. Recruitment criteria and outcome measures were variable across studies and generally focused on signs and symptoms of dysphagia rather than underlying swallowing impairment. Dosing regimens frequently varied across exercises and studies. Recent research in exercise-based dysphagia rehabilitation has added valuable information to the field. The differences across studies regarding recruitment criteria, outcome measures, and dosing, however, make it difficult to synthesize results. Future research should focus on underlying swallowing impairment for recruitment criteria and outcome measures as well as developing optimal dosing and maintenance programs. Improvement in these areas would increase robustness of results and facilitate improved translation of research findings to clinical practice.

During COVID‐19, misinformation on social media has affected people's adoption of appropriate prevention behaviors. Although an array of approaches have been proposed to suppress misinformation, few have investigated the role of disseminating factual information during crises. None has examined its effect on suppressing misinformation quantitatively using longitudinal social media data. Therefore, this study investigates the temporal correlations between factual information and misinformation, and intends to answer whether previously predominant factual information can suppress misinformation. It focuses on two prevention measures, that is, wearing masks and social distancing, using tweets collected from April 3 to June 30, 2020, in the United States. We trained support vector machine classifiers to retrieve relevant tweets and classify tweets containing factual information and misinformation for each topic concerning the prevention measures’ effects. Based on cross‐correlation analyses of factual and misinformation time series for both topics, we find that the previously predominant factual information leads the decrease of misinformation (i.e., suppression) with a time lag. The research findings provide empirical understandings of dynamic relations between misinformation and factual information in complex online environments and suggest practical strategies for future misinformation management during crises and emergencies.

PurposeThe present study compares the use of web citations as references in leading scholarly journals in Library and Information Science (LIS) and Communication and Media Studies (CMS). A total of 20 journals (each 10 from LIS and CMS) were selected based on the publishing history and reputation published between 2008 and 2017.Design/methodology/approachThe present study compares the use of web citations as references in leading scholarly journals in LIS and CMS. A PHP script was used to crawl the Uniform Resource Locators (URLs) collected from the reference list. A total of 12,251 articles were downloaded and 555,428 references were extracted. Of the 555,428 references, 102,718 web citations were checked for their accessibility.FindingsThe research findings indicated that 76.90% URLs from LIS journals and 84.32% URLs from Communication and Media Studies journals were accessible and others were rotten. The majority of errors were due to HTTP 404 error code (not found) in both the disciplines. The study also tried to retrieve the rotten URLs through Time Travel, which revived 61.76% rotten URLs in LIS journal articles and 65.46% in CMS journal articles.Originality/valueThis is an in-depth and comprehensive comparative study on the availability of web citations in LIS and CMS journals articles spanning a period of 10 years. The findings of the study will be helpful to authors, publishers, and editorial staff to ensure that web citations will be accessible in the future.

Время стремительного развития информационных технологий влияет на особенности формирования направлений научных исследований, толчком для совершенствования которых стают: развитие биотехнологий, нанотехнологий, молекулярной генетики; достижения в области биоинформатики, системной биологии; нанобиотехнологии; протеомика; постгеномные исследования; клеточные технологии. Использование цифрового здравоохранения (Digital Health) как системы информационных и коммуникационных технологий, в частности, технологии блокчейн, позволяет надежно сохранить, детализировать медицинскую информацию, на основе доказательных исследований эффективно влиять на качество медикаментозных назначений и качество оказания медицинской помощи в целом. Инновационной технологией в медицине стал 3D-биопринтинг, с использованием которого теперь печатают импланты, протезы, части органов и ткани. Трехмерные модели человеческих органов, а также некоторые искусственные ткани, полученные путем 3D-принта, используют для исследований и тестирования лекарств. Динамичность развития медицинской науки в мире, смена приоритетов в пользу биомедицинских исследований и биотехнологий, генной инженерии, персонализированной высокотехнологичной медицины, побуждает отечественных исследователей к поиску новых направлений научных разработок, по которым ожидаемые результаты имели бы научную новизну и инновационность не только для стран Европейского региона, но и во всем мире. Актуальным остается поиск путей эффективной координации планирования научных работ, оценки документов (запросов) планирования и результативности выполнения запланированного. Целью нашего исследования стал анализ реализации признанных в мире приоритетных направлений развития науки, обоснования подходов к усовершенствованию их планирования на будущее с учетом определенных приоритетов, отечественных особенностей и реалий. Материалы и методы. В ходе исследования были использованные методы семантического оценивания научных документов, результатов диссертационных и научно-исследовательских работ, методы библиосемантического, структурного и логического анализа контента, описательно-аналитического моделирования. Использованы материалы планирования и выполнения фундаментальных научных исследований в НАМН Украины по приоритетным направлениям развития отечественной медицинской науки за последние пять лет, результаты собственных научных исследований, посвященных оценке материалов планирования и выполнения научно-исследовательских работ. Результаты. В статье приведен обзор реализованных приоритетов развития отечественных фундаментальных медицинских научных исследований, особенно в части их научной новизны, теоретического и практического значения, обоснована целесообразность продолжения современного научного поиска в этом направлении. Показана целесообразность применения экспертного подхода к оценке материалов планирования и выполнения научных исследований в мировой практике с внедрением научно-обоснованных индикаторов оценки. Выводы. Развитие приоритетных направлений отечественных фундаментальных научных исследований, как и обеспечение надлежащего эффективного планирования, с оценкой запросов на их финансирование и результатов выполнения научных исследований с учетом лучшего мирового опыта, является требованием нынешнего времени. Обеспечение внедрения современных эффективных механизмов координации выполнения научных работ в отечественной медицинской отрасли даст возможность дальнейшего достойного продолжения, развития и реализации фундаментальных медицинских научных направлений с учетом уникальных демографических, социально-гигиенических и социально-экономических факторов, которые имеют комплексное влияние на формирование здоровья нации.

One in 12 children is born before 37 completed weeks of gestation and during the last decades survival rates and developmental outcomes of even very premature children have significantly improved. As a result, mental health sequelae of preterm birth are more frequently addressed. The manifestation of a distinct psychopathological profile with co-occurrence of symptoms associated with attention deficit/hyperactivity, autism spectrum and anxiety disorders has been recognized and discussed as "preterm behavioral phenotype", mainly affecting high-risk children with very low birth weights. Current research findings on parental psychological distress and early childhood developmental conditions after preterm birth indicate contextual factors that are of relevance, also for clinicians in psychotherapeutic practice.

The intensive spread and the growth of the sharing economy challenge the sharing platforms to attract and retain consumers. Thus, a comprehensive understanding of consumers’ perceived value and marketing strategy oriented to value growth is becoming essential both from the scientific and practical point of view. However, in the scientific literature, the construct structure of consumer perceived value from sharing economy and the factors that determine it are not sufficiently explored. To fill this gap, this study aims to investigate consumer perceived value from sharing economy and explore how it is influenced by consumer environmental consciousness and consumer attitude towards sharing platforms. Based on the quantitative research findings, it was found that consumer environmental consciousness has a significant direct effect on attitude towards sharing economy platforms and directly influences consumer perceived social value. The results of this study confirm the mediating effect of the consumer attitude toward sharing platforms in the relationship between consumer environmental consciousness and consumer perceived economic, functional, emotional value from sharing economy.

Homeschooling is a form of education in which parents do not send their children to school. This phenomenon has been researched extensively from the perspective of parents. The studies that have examined homeschooling from the viewpoint of children have not, for the most part, included consideration of their future orientation. The purpose of the present research was to examine the future orientation of adolescents who were homeschooled in Israel. For this purpose, 15 homeschooled adolescents, aged 16–21, were interviewed. The interviews included questions regarding the future orientation of the respondents. The research findings indicate that most of the participants had a well-developed future orientation regarding three main spheres of what they expected their life to be: higher education, work and career, and family (future family and contact with family of origin). In addition, most of them were able to define future success from their point of view and the majority were also currently taking action to promote the future they desired.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to systematically review extant studies on what makes a country fully, partially or not adopt international financial reporting standards (IFRS) and categorize these factors into meaningful categories. In so doing, this study facilitates policy-making for accounting and economic standard setters and also points out conflicting viewpoints in the current literature, thus, opportunities for future research. Design/methodology/approach This paper is a literature review on academic studies that examine factors influencing national adoption of IFRS. The reviewed articles are limited to published, peer-reviewed papers only. Findings Overall, the review suggests that although a wide range of determinants on national adoption of IFRS has been identified, prior literature consists of conflicting viewpoints on what influence national accounting policies toward IFRS, thus, highlighting areas in which there are needs for future research. Research limitations/implications First, this study focuses only on the de jure adoption of IFRS. Second, the study focuses mainly on research findings, not theory use in the extant literature. Originality/value To the best of the author’s knowledge, this is the first study, which provides a comprehensive review of studies on de jure IFRS adoption.

PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to highlight a precise investigation of the relationship between information technology (IT) capability and organizational agility along with the moderating impact of environmental factors on this association.Design/methodology/approachPre-tested structured questionnaires were administered during a matched-pair field survey to collect primary responses from 300 business and IT personnel working in various public and privately owned banking groups functioning in India. The structural equation modeling approach has been used for data analysis.FindingsThe two-folded research findings are first, IT capability enables organizational agility (studied as business process and market responsive agility), while IT capability has more effect on market responsive agility. Second, the environmental factors (studied as environmental diversity and hostility) possess a significant effect on the IT-agility relationship and, thereby, suggest that a more diverse and less hostile environment is required for the firms to build up superior IT capability for realizing enhanced agility.Originality/valueThe authors have studied IT capability as a first-order factor, organizational agility and environmental factors as second-order factors and by meticulously examining their critical dimensions this study greatly contributes to the existing IT-agility literature. The derived inferences provide various implications for the bank and IT managers to emphasize on superior IT capability for generating enhanced organizational agility.

BackgroundHealth systems need constant changes and reforms in their structure to adapt to changing conditions and meet the needs of society. One of the fundamental changes in the health system of Iran is the health transformation plan (HTP), the effects of which must be examined from different aspects. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of HTP on the performance indicators of public hospitals in Yazd city, Iran.MethodsThis cross-sectional study was carried out in all public hospitals in city of Yazd. Six performance indicators were examined monthly and in two time periods of 12 months before and 12 months after the implementation of Health Transformation Plan (HTP). The data was analyzed by SPSS software program version 22, using the paired T-test, and the Interrupted Time Series (ITS) model.FindingsFindings showed that the performance indicators of the studied hospitals have improved after the implementation of the HTP. According to the ITS model, the implementation of HTP did not have a significant effect on the level and trend of the bed rotation distance, average length of stay and the ratio of surgical operations to bed indicators. However, it had a statistically significant effect on the level and trend of mortality and hospitalization rates. Moreover, the implementation of HTP had a significant effect on the level of the bed occupancy rate, but did not have a significant effect on the trend of this indicator.ConclusionBased on the research findings, all the selected indicators changed to some extent after the implementation of HTP, which showed the effect of this plan on the performance of hospitals. However, not all indicators were statistically significant as the findings sub-section revealed.

The practical ability is an important skill of college students majoring in physical education (PE). It can be subdivided into general practical ability and professional practical ability. This paper summarizes the current state of PE teaching practice in colleges, and applies classification and clustering algorithm to the comprehensive evaluation of the practical ability of PE teaching. The results show that the practical ability of PE majors is empirical, contextual, developmental, and personal. During the self-evaluation of practical ability, communication ability won the highest satisfaction among PE majors. In terms of social PE coaching ability, interpersonal communication ability won the highest satisfaction among PE majors. The research findings of this paper lay a basis for the curriculum reform of PE major, and the comprehensive evaluation of education practical ability.

Translating research findings to routine clinical practice is fraught with obstacles. The gap between the end of a research project and the implementation of its results is often termed the "valley of death." In this perspective, we highlight the barriers and potential solutions in translating research on diabetic retinopathy care pathways to implementation in the clinic. This gap analysis applies to all countries around the world, though it predominantly applies to low- and middle-income countries.

Partnerships between academic investigators and industry can accelerate the translation of research findings into life-saving products. The healthcare industry has witnessed heightened interest from universities in capitalizing on the discoveries made by faculty to create intellectual property, form new companies and seek investments. However, academic investigators and even Biotechnology start-ups may be unfamiliar with how industry sources and evaluates these opportunities. In this Comment, we share the approaches and principles by which a large healthcare company sources innovation and assesses opportunities to serve as a guide to better deal making with the goal of improving health for humanity.

Chronic wounds remain a significant public problem and the development of wound treatments has been a research focus for the past few decades. Despite advances in the products derived from endogenous substances involved in a wound healing process (e.g., growth factors, stem cells, and extracellular matrix), effective and safe wound therapeutics are still limited. There is an unmet need to develop new therapeutics. Various new pathways and targets have been identified and could become a molecular target in designing novel wound agents. Importantly, many existing drugs that target these newly identified pathways could be repositioned for wound therapy, which will facilitate fast translation of research findings to clinical applications. This review discusses the newly identified pathways/targets and their potential uses in the development of wound therapeutics. Some herbs and amphibian skins have been traditionally used for wound repairs and their active ingredients have been found to act in these new pathways. Hence, screening these natural products for novel wound therapeutics remains a viable approach. The outcomes of wound care using natural wound therapeutics could be improved if we can better understand their cellular and molecular mechanisms and fabricate them in appropriate formulations, such as using novel wound dressings and nano-engineered materials. Therefore, we also provide an update on the advances in wound therapeutics from natural sources. Overall, this review offers new insights into novel wound therapeutics.

This research is mainly concerned with identifying the mediating role of customer engagement (CE) between marketer and user-generated content and repurchase intentions in online airline service communities. Additionally, this research explores the significance of differences between the customers' perceptions towards the generated content evaluation according to content generator (marketer/user) and identifies the relatively importance of both marketer and user-generated content influence on CE in online airline service communities. To accomplish these objectives, a random cluster sample of 351 valid internet users was selected. The research findings indicated that user-generated content (UGC) is more influential than marketer-generated content (MGC) on CE and its dimensions. The findings also reveal that CE significantly mediates the relationship between both marketer and user-generated content and repurchase intentions. The findings improve both academicians' studies and marketers' practices within the online airline service community.

Background The impact of research findings on clinical practice usually remains uncertain and unmeasured. To address this problem, we examined the long-term clinical and economic impact of the Initiating Dialysis Early and Late (IDEAL) trial using data from the Australia and New Zealand Dialysis and Transplant Registry. Methods We performed a registry-based study including all incident adult dialysis patients in Australia and New Zealand from July 2000 to June 2018. A piecewise linear regression model was used to examine differences in mean estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) at dialysis commencement for the years prior to (2000–2010) and following (2010–2018) publication of the IDEAL trial results. The return on investment (ROI) was calculated using the total cost of performing the IDEAL trial and the cost or savings accruing in Australia and New Zealand from changes in dialysis initiation practice. Results From July 2000 to June 2010, mean eGFR at dialysis commencement increased at a rate of 0.21 mL/min/1.73 m2/year [95% confidence interval (CI) 0.19–0.23]. After the IDEAL trial results were published, mean eGFR at dialysis commencement did not show any temporal change [−0.01 mL/min/1.73 m2/year (95% CI −0.03–0.01)]. The ROI of the IDEAL trial was AU$35.70/AU$1 spent, an estimated savings to the Australian and New Zealand health systems of up to AU$84 million/year. Conclusions The previous trend to higher eGFR at dialysis commencement changed following publication of the IDEAL trial results to a steady eGFR that has continued for a decade, avoiding unnecessary dialysis treatments and accruing savings to the Australian and New Zealand health systems.

Introduction: Given the recent constraints imposed due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and the importance of the daily light-dark cycle for entraining the human circadian system, it is possible to state that the elderly are likely to be at serious risk of experiencing sleep-related problems. Whilst reduced or limited time outdoors, and thus, exposure to diurnal bright light appear to be detrimental to sleep and emotional well-being in old age, further research is required to confirm this relationship. Materials and Method: To build on earlier work, a two-week study was conducted in a sample of 79 community-dwelling older adults recruited by using snowball sampling method. Throughout the study, the participants were allowed to be outdoors from 10.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. on weekdays. Whilst the participants were performing their daily habitual activities, they were asked to keep an activity diary and report on their sleep quality and emotional wellbeing using two questionnaires. Stylistic changes in academic psychology writing were examined in a corpus of 790,520 psychology journal article abstracts published between 1970 and 2016. We anticipated that changing linguistic norms of scientific writing and rising pressures to publish and promote research findings would be evident in increasing levels of personal pronoun use and expressive confidence (“clout”) over the study period. These predictions were tested using indices generated by Linguistic Inquiry and Word Count software. Consistent with expectations, personal pronouns (especially first-person plural) became markedly more common over time, as did average levels of clout. Indices of analytical thinking, authenticity, and emotional tone did not show comparable shifts, suggesting that the primary changes are relatively circumscribed. Implications of these changes are discussed.

Uvod: Rekonstrukcija sprednje križne vezi kolena spada med uveljavljene metode zdravljenja po pretrganju sprednjega križnega ligamenta. Pomembno je oceniti celoten vpliv posega na zdravje posameznika, ki se lahko odraža v kakovosti življenja. Namen raziskave je bil ugotoviti, kakšna je kakovost življenja pacientov po rekonstrukciji sprednje križne vezi.Metode: Uporabljen je bil integrativni pregled literature na podlagi metodologije PRISMA. Vključene so bile raziskave iz obdobja od 2009 do 2019. Iskanje literature je potekalo v podatkovnih bazah PubMed, MEDLINE, CINAHL, ScienceDirect, Web of Science in COBISS. Izvedena je bila vsebinska analiza spoznanj raziskav.Rezultati: Izmed 1.141 identificiranih zadetkov je bilo v končno analizo vključenih 21 raziskav. Ugotovljeno je bilo, da se lahko po rekonstrukciji sprednje križne vezi uporabljajo vprašalniki in lestvice, ki ocenjujejo dva vidika: kakovost življenja, povezano s kolenom, in kakovost življenja, povezano z zdravjem. V večini raziskav so poročali o dobri kakovosti življenja. Boljši rezultati se navajajo pri merjenju kakovosti življenja, povezani z zdravjem. Na rezultate in izide kakovosti življenja po posegu lahko vpliva več različnih dejavnikov.Diskusija in zaključek: Rekonstrukcija sprednje križne vezi lahko vpliva na kakovost življenja pacientov. Ugotovitve raziskav lahko koristijo na področju predoperativne zdravstvene vzgoje pacientov glede kratkoročnih in dolgoročnih izidov po posegu ter pri razvoju strategij izboljšanja pooperativne kakovosti življenja.

This research aims to explore how social media use improves higher level education in Ghana. Emphatically, it attempts to investigate the effect of social media use and active collaborative learning on student engagement, satisfaction and learning performance. A close-ended questionnaire was administered through online survey to collect data from 429 higher education students. The relationship between variables were tested using partial least square structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM). The research findings involve the significant effect of social media usage and active collaborative learning on student engagement, satisfaction, and learning performance. As per result development, student engagement positively affected satisfaction, which in turn influences learning performance. Moreover, this study concludes that effective use of social media, active collaborative and student engagement via social media enhances learning and satisfaction. The present study also offers several theoretical and practical implications for educational institutions and research directions for upcoming scholars. Andrographolide, is a chemical compound obtained from the Andrographis paniculata (Family- Acanthaceae), maybe a diterpene lactone ring is responsible for various biological activities like anti-inflammation, anti-microbial anti-cancer, anti-obesity, anti-diabetes, anti-oxidant immunomodulatory, antiseptic, hypolipidemic, cardioprotective, hepatoprotective, neuroprotective effects and other biological activities. In Current research activities worldwide to exhibit the beneficial role of Andrographolide are continuously enriching the therapeutic arsenal of this important Phyto molecule. For this purpose, several databases were accustomed explore for the anticancer/cytotoxic effects of the andrographolide in pre-clinical and clinical studies. During this report, an attempt has been given to spotlight the research findings, related to therapeutic potentials and up-to-date development within the pharmacological activities of andrographolide. Andrographolide is often one of the potential agents within the treatment of cancer.

Social media influencers (SMIs) are increasingly involving in influencer marketing to promote products. However, there are both opportunities and issues with influencer marketing. SMIs’ narrative strategies can be of great value as high-quality eWOM content is vital to maintain influencer marketing effectiveness. This paper adopts the stimulus-organism-response (S-O-R) framework to explore the value of SMIs’ narrative strategies to overcome potential influencer marketing issues within the context of China’s luxury market. A qualitative approach is applied to explore Chinese consumer perceptions toward capabilities of three SMIs’ narrative strategies (brand attribute evaluation, brand love inspiration, self-identity construction) to deal with the issues of cultural barriers, commercial–personal tension, and sponsorship disclosure in SMIs’ eWOM. Based on the research findings, this paper develops a conceptual model to illustrate how SMIs’ narrative strategies benefit the cultivation of influencer marketing on social media.

This research aims to identify quality in VLEs (Virtual Learning Environments), describes the development of a model, based on original research, describing the characteristics associated with the successful deployment of technology evidenced in the Egyptian higher education, and the alliance factors related to such implementation of quality in VLE. Research findings clarify the importance of quality for the accreditation of VLEs and demonstrate the proposed model that, based on the motivations arising from the challenges: improving the quality of learning, identify the possible stakeholders in determining the quality of VLEs, improving access to teaching and learning, and reducing the costs for providers. The suggested model incorporates: stakeholders' satisfaction; learning outcomes; environment facilities; and evaluation during development. The findings also revealed groups of Recommendations for VLEs' participants, designers, and administration to accomplish quality in VLEs. E-leaning has become every day and commonplace in higher education across the world. In some institutions, opportunities and finances of technology have yet to be fully utilised. To better enable the initial exploitation of e-learning, this paper describes the development of a theoretical construct, based on original research, describing the characteristics associated with the successful deployment of technology evidenced in Egyptian higher education supported by the concepts of a technology acceptance model. The theoretical construct is designed to both, reflect the research findings and, support developments in e-learning. indispensable success features based around the quadrant of curriculum, tutors, learners and technology. Findings illustrate the importance of curriculum content specifications (theoretical, practical); tutors' features (attitude towards e-learning, proficiency of the technology, and support); Learners' features (computer competency, English language proficiency, and learning style); and Technological feature (usability, affordances and infrastructure) for successful e-learning implementation. It is concluded that by systematically considering these features the implementation of e-learning and blended learning can be more effective and efficient. Recent advances in genomic technology and widespread adoption of electronic health records (EHRs) have accelerated the development of genomic medicine, bringing promising research findings from genome science into clinical practice. Genomic and phenomic data, accrued across large populations through biobanks linked to EHRs, have enabled the study of genetic variation at a phenome-wide scale. Through new quantitative techniques, pleiotropy can be explored with phenome-wide association studies, the occurrence of common complex diseases can be predicted using the cumulative influence of many genetic variants (polygenic risk scores), and undiagnosed Mendelian syndromes can be identified using EHR-based phenotypic signatures (phenotype risk scores). In this review, we trace the role of EHRs from the development of genome-wide analytic techniques to translational efforts to test these new interventions to the clinic. Throughout, we describe the challenges that remain when combining EHRs with genetics to improve clinical care.

The role and place of science libraries during the transfer to digital science information and online user services is examined. The authors argue that in these circumstances of transfer to digital communication and Internet-based services and facilities, the peer-reviewed journals still maintain their role as a key publication format and promptly deliver research findings to researchers and experts. Open access has not been widely adopted in fundamental sciences: the scholarly information awareness system has to be financed by the government. The network of academic and research libraries make the part of this system. Based on the experience of the centralized library network (CLN) of the Russian Academy of Sciences Library for Natural Sciences (RAS LNS), the possibilities of the vast academic library network are explored. The structure of full-text collection of CLN RAS LNS is analyzed. This collection core is made primarily of the National Electronic Subscription materials comprising the world most established academic journals. With the Internet, these resources can be delivered directly to researcher’s workplace via the two channels under the National Electronic Subscription program, i. e. via his/her organizational subscription or via the library providing services to his/her organization. Both channels should be integrated in the system where the core resources are provided directly to the organization, and individual components demanded by individual researcher – via the library network. This system of science information provision has been for several years efficiently functioning at CLN RAS LNS. The need for similar system for the outside of National Electronic Subscription program is substantiated.

Purpose of review Chronic kidney disease (CKD) significantly impacts many aspects of life, health, and wellbeing. People with CKD have individual priorities for their care which may differ from those valued by clinicians and policy makers. The patient experience is broadly captured by the concept of quality of life (QoL) which is increasing assessed in research and used to guide clinical and policy decision making. Appropriate selection and application of QoL assessment tools are essential for high-quality research and patient care. This article summarises the current approaches to QoL assessment in CKD and outlines aspirations for future improvement. Recent findings Commonly used tools for assessment of QoL in CKD include the Short Form-36 and -12 and extended versions adapted for specific use in kidney patients (KD-QoL), and the EQ-5D. However, a wide range of other instruments are also reported, making comparisons between research findings challenging. Few of the tools are adequately validated for use in CKD, and relevance to patient values are unclear. Instruments suitable for use in a routine clinical setting are lacking. Summary QoL instruments developed and validated with meaningful CKD stakeholder input are required. The Standardised Outcomes in Nephrology initiative is working to address this need.

Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk melihat preferensi mahasiswa-pekerja area Tangerang Raya dalam menentukan 3 lokapasar (marketplace), yaitu: Lazada, Shopee dan Tokopedia, yang dinilainya lebih baik. Tinjauan literatur pada penelitian ini bersumber dari Svobodová dan Rajchlová (2020) tentang identifikasi perilaku pembelian secara daring (online shopping) yang terdiri atas 13 komponen yaitu: ulasan dan keluhan, sertifikasi dan keamanan, iklan dan komunikasi, harga produk, situs web (website), faktor organisasi, deskripsi produk, metode pembayaran, jaringan toko, transportasi, dan diskon. Ini merupakan sebuah penelitian survei deskriptif yang menggunakan 55 mahasiswa-pekerja sebagai responden dalam menjawab kuesioner yang diajukan oleh peneliti. Persentase sederhana digunakan untuk analisis data. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Tokopedia memiliki rata-rata penilaian jawaban responden yang tertinggi. Sehingga dapat diasumsikan bahwa Tokopedia lebih unggul dalam memenuhi 13 komponen untuk mengidentifikasi perilaku pembelian secara daring. Selain itu, terungkap juga bahwa komponen ulasan dan keluhan serta transportasi menjadi prioritas bagi konsumen dalam melakukan pembelian secara daring.

Perfectionism is a personality characteristic that has been explored for its implications in mental health; reviews and meta-analyses were conducted to synthesize research findings. This study systemically synthesizes the perfectionism literature using a text-mining approach. Co-word analysis and Dirichlet Multinomial Regression topic modeling were performed on a total of 1,529 perfectionism abstracts published from 1990 to 2019. Analysis revealed that perfectionism research is closely connected with “disorder,” with “symptom” being the most frequently addressed issue. Topic-modeling results found a total of 15 topics represented perfectionism research of the past three decades. Most articles were published in psychology journals, with social and clinical psychology subdisciplines publishing perfectionism articles most frequently. There were overlaps in research topics by journal subdisciplines, while differences were also observed. This study provides a panoramic view of perfectionism literature and highlights frequently and infrequently explored areas that could be considered in future research endeavors.

Over the last twenty years, with the development of gene-driven therapies, numerous new drugs have entered clinical use. Very few of these new drugs are suitable for a large number of patients, and all require molecular genetic testing. In lung cancer, gene-targeted therapy has evolved rapidly and has placed demands on the development of diagnostics and tissue sample preparation and logistics. Rapid diagnosis and prevalence assessment are necessary to determine the prognosis of a lung cancer patient based on the latest research findings. Therefore, the molecular-genetic diagnostic pathway must also be accelerated and matured to do the necessary analyses on small samples. Because lung cancer rebiopsy can be difficult, liquid biopsy techniques should be developed to cover more of the treatable mutations. There are obstacles related to tissue sampling, new genomic techniques and access to gene-driven cancer drugs, including their affordability. With this review and case study, we go into the obstacles faced by our clinic and discuss how to tackle these obstacles in lung cancer. We use lung cancer as an example due to its complexity, though these same obstacles are found in different cancers on a minor scale.

To compare social media attention and citation rates between infographics (visual abstracts) and original research articles.All infographics in 2019 from electronic versions of Arthroscopy were matched by topic to articles in the "Original Research" section of the journal in a 4:1 ratio within the same year. The primary outcome was the Altmetric Attention Score (AAS), a cumulative measure of social media attention from various platforms such as Twitter and Facebook. Secondary outcomes included citation rates, article characteristics, and number of shares on social media platforms. Independent t tests and χA total of 60 matched research articles (n = 48, 80.0%) and infographics (n = 12, 20.0%) published in 2019 in Arthroscopy were included. The mean AAS among all infographics was 29.75 ± 32.84 (range, 3-118), whereas the mean AAS among all control research articles was 5.75 ± 8.90 (range, 0-41), representing a statistically significant difference (P.001). Infographics had significantly more Twitter mentions (100% vs 70.8%, P.001) and Facebook mentions (75% vs. 6.2%, P.001) compared with original articles. Multivariate linear regression analysis demonstrated a statistically significant and positive association between AAS and article type, with an additional mean increase in the AAS of 33.7 (95% confidence interval 11.6-50.6; P = .003) for every infographic article compared with an original research article. The mean citation rate among all infographics was 2.4 ± 2.4 (range, 0-7), whereas the mean citation rate among all control research articles was 2.2 ± 4.0 (range, 0-27), which was not a significant difference (P = .69).Infographics resulted in significantly greater AAS and social media attention in comparison with original research articles of similar topics. We recommend the routine creation of infographics by journals to increase the social media attention that their research and chosen topics of interest receive. However, viewers of infographics should read them out of interest but turn their attention toward the original article or a source of more detailed information before making changes in clinical decision-making or practice, as they can be oversimplified.Infographics are an increasingly used by journals as a form of depicting research findings from select studies. By producing infographics, journals may increase the amount of social media attention received for a particular study or topic of interest.

The 2015 Magnetic Resonance Imaging in Multiple Sclerosis and 2016 Consortium of Multiple Sclerosis Centres guidelines on the use of MRI in diagnosis and monitoring of multiple sclerosis made an important step towards appropriate use of MRI in routine clinical practice. Since their promulgation, there have been substantial relevant advances in knowledge, including the 2017 revisions of the McDonald diagnostic criteria, renewed safety concerns regarding intravenous gadolinium-based contrast agents, and the value of spinal cord MRI for diagnostic, prognostic, and monitoring purposes. These developments suggest a changing role of MRI for the management of patients with multiple sclerosis. This 2021 revision of the previous guidelines on MRI use for patients with multiple sclerosis merges recommendations from the Magnetic Resonance Imaging in Multiple Sclerosis study group, Consortium of Multiple Sclerosis Centres, and North American Imaging in Multiple Sclerosis Cooperative, and translates research findings into clinical practice to improve the use of MRI for diagnosis, prognosis, and monitoring of individuals with multiple sclerosis. We recommend changes in MRI acquisition protocols, such as emphasising the value of three dimensional-fluid-attenuated inversion recovery as the core brain pulse sequence to improve diagnostic accuracy and ability to identify new lesions to monitor treatment effectiveness, and we provide recommendations for the judicious use of gadolinium-based contrast agents for specific clinical purposes. Additionally, we extend the recommendations to the use of MRI in patients with multiple sclerosis in childhood, during pregnancy, and in the post-partum period. Finally, we discuss promising MRI approaches that might deserve introduction into clinical practice in the near future.

Background Variations in clinical practice contribute to negative outcomes for children with cancer. Research in this area is imperative to standardise practice, yet such research is challenging to undertake, and a significant proportion of studies fail. A common reason for failure is poor recruitment, yet little information is available to support researchers and clinicians planning such research. Methods Our primary aim was to describe the recruitment strategies and outcomes in a tertiary children’s hospital across multiple observational supportive care studies. Secondary aims were to establish principles to improve both recruitment strategies and the reporting of recruitment. We undertook a retrospective descriptive analysis of the recruitment logs and data from three studies in pediatric oncology. The mean time to recruit one participant was calculated. Common reasons for not approaching eligible participants and reasons potential participants declined are described. Results Of the 235 potential candidates across all studies, 186 (79%) were approached and of these 125 (67%) provided consent, with 117 (63%) completing baseline measures. We estimated recruitment per participant required an average 98 min of experienced research nurse time. Four factors are described that influence recruitment and six principles are outlined to maximise recruitment and the generalisability of research findings. Conclusions We highlight the recruitment experiences across three different projects in children’s cancer supportive care research and provide a roadmap for other researchers planning to undertake clinical research in pediatrics.

A stratified medicine approach for the treatment of psoriasis promises greater certainty of clinical decision making through prediction of response on the basis of clinical, pharmacological, and -omics data from an individual patient. As yet, there is no predictive model for treatment response in routine clinical use for psoriasis. The Psoriasis Stratification to Optimise Relevant Therapy (PSORT) Consortium is a United Kingdom Medical Research Council‒funded, academic‒industrial stratified medicine consortium established with the objective of discovering the predictors and stratifiers of response of psoriasis to biologic therapies. A showcase meeting was convened and attended by 80 stakeholders at the Royal College of Physicians, London, United Kingdom on 18 November 2019. The purpose was to disseminate the research findings from the PSORT consortium discovered thus far. This report summarizes the presentations made on the day and the significant advances made by PSORT toward a stratified medicine approach to the management of psoriasis.

In today’s competitive world, organizations are in a constant struggle to retain their current customers while attracting new customers through various methods. Customer churn is a major challenge in different industries and companies. Despite their initial successful attempts at attracting customers, organizations soon face the fact that their current customers may turn away towards their rivals. By identifying churn candidates, organizations will be able to guarantee their future success by revising their customer relationship management policy. Analyzing the data of the telecommunications industries, this study provided an effective early-churn-detection solution using modern techniques by stacking data mining algorithms. Research findings indicate that integrating support vector machines (SVMs) with the chi-square automatic interaction detection (CHAID) decision tree can yield the best outcome. The results show the proper accuracy of the proposed churn prediction solution. In addition, stacking contributed to improved customer churn detection results.

Background In 2010, 240 billion US dollars was invested worldwide to conduct research for health; unfortunately, 200 billion was misused in the production and reporting of the evidence researched. Universities could facilitate students to acquire leadership competencies to move well-conducted research findings into practical use; this could be an essential move to reduce the misuse of investment. Methods A literature review was done based on the Equator Network and Cochrane guidelines, followed by three Delphi rounds to select competencies. Results Eleven papers were analysed out of 1121 items and 39/78 identified competencies were prioritized to be presented in the Delphi. Four out of 12 participants accepted to be involved in this project, and 22 competencies reached consensus and stability after three rounds. This framework conceptualizes competencies as the knowledge, skills, attitudes and values. The competencies were framed in four domains: knowledge management, engage diverse others in public health initiatives, training and capacity building/change management and communication. Conclusion This framework offers guidance to universities when instructing students with leadership competencies for KT. This project emphasizes that effective leadership should include personal conscience and self-determination values.

BACKGROUND: Despite positive effects of research utilization on improving the quality of care, nurses meet numerous obstacles when trying to bridge the gap between the theory and utilization of research findings in nursing practice. AIM: The study was conducted to identify barriers to research utilization in daily nursing practice among registered nurses in University Hospital Center Osijek, Croatia. PARTICIPANTS AND METHODS: A cross-sectional study was conducted in University Hospital Center Osijek, Croatia in 2014. The study included 415 registered nurses, randomly selected. The BARRIERS Scale and a demographic data questionnaire were used to collect data. RESULTS: The study identified organizational barriers as major obstacles to implementing research findings. The items rated highest were “there is insufficient time on the job to implement new ideas” (78.2%), “nurse does not feel she/he has enough authority to change patient care procedures” (77.5%), “relevant literature is not compiled in one place” (72.1%), “physicians will not cooperate with implementation” (70.5%), and “nurse does not have time to read research” (70.4%). The item “relevant literature is not compiled in one place” belongs to communication subscale, while the other items belong to organizational barriers subscale. CONCLUSION: Registered nurses employed in University Hospital Center Osijek, Croatia perceived organizational barriers as major obstacles to research utilization.

Research aims : This study examines the direct and indirect effects of eWOM and environmental concerns on second-hand clothing purchase intention. However, on the intervening variable, this study used customer engagement. Design/Methodology/Approach : This quantitative research distributed questionnaires to 222 college students aged 18-24 years who were interested in and were familiar with the concept of using second-hand clothes, who were also lived in Yogyakarta. The questionnaire results were then processed utilizing the structural equation modeling-partial least square (SEM-PLS) technique. Research findings : This study’s findings showed that consumer engagement had a full mediating impact between eWOM and intention in buying second-hand clothes. However, it only partially affected the relationship between environmental concern and the intention to purchase used clothes. Theoretical contribution/Originality : Previous studies have investigated the relationship between eWOM and purchase intention through customer engagement as a mediating variable, but little literature involves environmental concerns in the model. Another contribution is the findings that revealed that eWOM could not influence students' purchase intention in second-hand clothes without the involvement of customer engagement. Practitioner/Policy implication : The author suggests that second-hand clothes sellers and non-profit organizations could increase young people's involvement in making environmentally friendly consumption in the form of buying used clothes by increasing consumer engagement. Research limitation/Implication : This research's limitations include the limited variables studied and the characteristics of respondents who only focused on generation Z, especially students in Yogyakarta.

Objectives A cross-sectional analysis of orthopedic trauma randomized controlled trial (RCT) abstracts to assess the frequency and manifestations of spin, the misrepresentation or distortion of research findings, in orthopedic trauma clinical trials. Methods The top 5 orthopedic trauma journals were searched from January 1, 2012, to December 31, 2017. RCTs with nonsignificant endpoints (p > .05) were analyzed for spin in the abstract. The primary endpoint of our investigation was the frequency and type of spin. The secondary endpoint was to assess whether funding source was associated with the presence of spin. Due to the low reporting of funding sources no statistics were able to be computed for this outcome. Results Our PubMed search yielded 517 articles. Primary screening excluded 303 articles, and full text evaluation excluded an additional 161. Overall, 53 articles were included. Spin was identified in 35 of the 53 (66.0%) abstracts analyzed. Evidence of spin was found in 21 (39.6%) abstract results sections and 22 (41.5%) abstract conclusion sections. Of the 21 RCTs reporting a clinical trial registry, 3 (14.3%) had evidence of selective reporting bias. Conclusions Orthopedic trauma RCTs from highly ranked journals with nonsignificant endpoints published from 2012 to 2017 frequently have spin in their abstracts. Abstracts with evidence of spin may influence a reader's perception of new drugs or procedures. In orthopedic trauma, the implications of spin may affect the treatment of patients with orthopedic trauma, so efforts to mitigate spin in RCT abstracts must be prioritized.

Postgraduate research supervision and its impact on students’ completion of postgraduate studies continue to pose significant challenges to higher education managers, postgraduate students, university dons, funders of postgraduate education, and all stake holders. This literature review based article summaries the research findings across six dimensions of postgraduate research supervision: Student-supervisor relationship, Gender and research supervision, Allocating and matching students with supervisors, Pedagogy of research supervision, Roles and responsibilities of postgraduate students and supervisors and Effective supervision. Student- supervisor relationship is noted to have direct and indirect influence on all other dimensions of research supervision and consequently to timely students’ completion of postgraduate studies. It was found out that the reaction and impact of the other six dimensions would be driven by the student-supervisor relationship. Students perceived that good working relationships with their research supervisors have an impact on their research progress. Studies concerning gender and research supervision are limited but the few available indicated that female candidates were largely affected in their progress due to gender-related challenges. It was revealed that effective supervision has a positive impact on timely students’ completion of postgraduate studies. Implications for postgraduate students and supervisors, schools, faculties, and departments of postgraduate education were identified.

Grounded within academic emotion and transactional reading theory, the present study investigates the understudied struggling readers’ academic emotions after taking part in three blended literature circles in an English class at tertiary education. Thirteen Physics Education students partook in the research. Data were garnered by open-ended questionnaires and semi-structured interviews, the results of which were analyzed by directed content analysis bound to Academic emotion theory. The research findings explicate that blended literature circles pave the path to propelling reading-to-learn endeavors. Despite sub-optimal reading proficiency, the students’ academic emotions depict the efforts towards achievement goals, primarily laden with a mastery approach, and social goals through dialogic reading in blended literature circles.
