The article shows some results about establishes types of environmental conflicts in mineral activities base on applying a combination of analytical methods, document synthesis, investigation methods, statistics, community interviews and expert opinion. In Lao Cai province, there are many mineral resources such as copper, iron, apatite, kaolines - felsspat, limestone, clay, sand, gravel, etc., being exploited. Mining projects often use large amount of land areas. The process of mining and processing are polluting more and more seriously day by day. This is the main cause leading to environmental conflicts in study areas. The research results have evaluated and identified the types of environmental conflicts relating to mineral exploitation activities in Lao Cai province. They consist of conflict between mineral exploitation and natural environment (water, air); conflict between mineral exploitation and other natural resources (land, forest, etc.); conflict among social interest groups. Besides, we have proposed general and specific solutions to prevent and minimize the harmful effects of environmental conflics for sustainable development suitable to the socio - economic conditions of Lao Cai province.

The paper represents the hypothesis test method that can determine the instability control points of the reference network in the displacement of construction. Regarding data processing in displacement monitoring, the detection and modification for instability points is an important task because this affects the computation of the displacement of monitoring points. This method has been applied in many countries over the world but not in Vietnam, and it is processed through two steps including the global statistics test and local statistics test. The global statistics test is to identify whether a control point is stable or not. The local statistics test based on the division of groups is to find the unstable control points exactly. Experimental computation is carried out in two monitoring cycles at Hoa Binh hydroelectric plant. In this experiment, this algorithm detected two unstable points among six control points. This result is in agreement with the result that is solved by Vietnam’s construction standard of TCVN 9399:2012. In conclusion, the hypothesis test method completely can apply in real geodetic production in Vietnam.

Land cover/land use classification using high spatial resolution remote sensing data has the biggest challenge is how to distinguish object classes from different spectral values based on structures, shapes, and spatial elements. This paper focuses on the object-oriented classification method to extract artificial surface at industrial area by Worldview-2 data with a spatial resolution of 1.8 m. Extraction of 05 types of land cover/land use using object-oriented classification method based on reflectance spectral characteristics, shape index, location of objects, brightness, NDVI index, and density objects are archive efficiency to the quality of classification results. The overall accuracy of classification result for land cover/land use of Thang Long industrial area is about 0.85 and Kappa index is about 0.81.

Blasting is considered as one of the most effective methods for rock fragmentation in open - pit mines. However, its side effects are significant, especially blast - induced ground vibration. Therefore, this study aims to develop and apply artificial intelligence in predicting blast - induced ground vibration in open - pit mines. Indeed, the k - nearest neighbors (KNN) algorithm was taken into account and developed for predicting blast - induced ground vibration at the Deo Nai open - pit coal mine (Vietnam) as a case study. An empirical model (i.e., USBM) was also developed to compare with the developed KNN model aiming to highlight the advantage of the KNN model. Accordingly, 194 blasting events were collected and analyzed for this aim. This database was then divided into two parts, 80% for training and 20% for testing. The MinMax scale and 10 - fold cross - validation techniques were applied to improve the accuracy, as well as avoid overfitting of the KNN model. Root - mean - squared error (RMSE) and determination coefficient (R2) were used as the performance metrics for models’ evaluation and comparison purposes. The results indicated that the KNN model yielded better superior performance than those of the USBM empirical model with an RMSE of 1.157 and R2 of 0.967. In contrast, the USBM model only provided a weak performance with an RMSE of 4.205 and R2 of 0.416. With the obtained results, the KNN can be introduced as a potential artificial intelligence model for predicting and controlling blast - induced ground vibration in practical engineering, especially at the Deo Nai open - pit coal mine.

For the purpose of ensuring sustainable development, one of the important factors is to increase labor productivity and minimize the number of workers directly working in the mine. In the context of increasing requirements for underground coal mining, the number of workers tends to decline due to shifting to other types of economy. Therefore, the mechanization investment in coal mining is the inevitable destination, which guarantees the long - term strategic development of the coal mining industry. Although the mechanized mining has obtained several achievements, the annual coal mining output is still not high, specifically reaching 73.8%; 51.3%; 61.4% according to the plan respectively for the years of 2013, 2014 and 2015. A total of mechanized lines has been invested and applied in Vietnam National Coal - Mineral Industries Holding Corporation Limited, but there are only six lines in operation until at this time. For five recent years, when the mining industry has accumulated a lot of experience in using mechanization technology, it is found that the potential factors causing production interruption have resulted in the effectiveness of these longwalls not achieved as expected. Summary of advantages, difficulties, and unsuccessful implementation of mechanization technology in the condition of Quang Ninh mine area has shown a big gap in production organization that should be specifically studying. In this study, the author wants to build a basic background in determining the impact of potential factors conscious of the longwall mechanized.

The article points out the shortcomings in the labor arrangement at the 11th long wall. The analysis results have shown: (i) The actual number of employees assigned to use is often much higher than expected. It is because Ha Lam Coal Joint Stock Company only designs for good conditions, but actually, the company faces many obstacles due to the characteristic production conditions; (ii) the actual productivity is much lower than the designed labor productivity because the calculation of the number of employees is not consistent with the production conditions of the long wall; at the same time, the number of manual workers for ancillary work is too much arranged according to actual needs; (iii) The current level of direct labor productivity at the 11th long wall is still low compared to the actual capacity, not motivating workers to increase labor productivity. The solutions to overcome the problems are (i) Complete the calculation of the number of employees considering the specific production conditions and the number of auxiliary workers; (ii)Re-arrange labor in manual auxiliary production to reduce labours; (iii) Recalculate the direct labor productivity assigned to the 11th long wall. With these solutions, the company will increase the initiative in production, improve labor productivity and lower product costs.

The article uses Dupont analysis to determine the factors affecting profitability (ROE) of Vietnam coal mining enterprises and the regression method to examine the impact of production capacity of short-term assets, production capacity of long-term assets, production capacity of costs and capital structure on the profitability of firms. The article uses financial data collected from 19 coal mining companies of Vietnam National Coal-Mineral Industries Holding Corporation during the period of 2015 - 2018. The results show that production capacity of short-term assets, production capacity of long-term assets, production capacity of costs and capital structure positively impact profitability. The paper suggests 2 ways to improve profitability: firstly, borrowing to invest in technology will help coal mining enterprises improve their profitability; secondly, improving production processes appropriately to take full advantage of existing equipment capacity, thereby increasing profitability.

Oi and Gas exploration and production are highly international and strategic in terms of national energy security and sovereignty over the islands. Thus it forces PVEP to always review the structure to not only improve or restructure but also to adapt and develop in the context of international integration. The author has applied the corporate restructuring theory model as the basis of restructuring orientation for PetroVietnam Exploration and Production Corporation (PVEP). Restructuring PVEP is carried out in 5 phases from researching PVEP’s external context, indentifying internal factors of PVEP, implementing restructuring strategies, making options and evaluating result. The application of this theoretical model will help PVEP’s managers to develop a scientific, rigorous, completed and effective restructuring project.

Currently, the number of mining workers quitting their jobs is increasing, while coal mining enterprises are facing many difficulties in labor recruitment. To reach current production requirements and future development, coal enterprises need to retain workers for their operation. In this study, we tested 7 factors affecting the job satisfaction of coal workers, the study showed that 4 factors including relationship, income, job and corporation culture affect positively employee satisfaction while job opportunities and working conditions reduce the level of job satisfaction. The research results may be a suggestion to help coal enterprises to devise appropriate solutions to improve job satisfaction of workers, so that they can ensure the maintenance of human resources for production.

Investor sentiment is a sentimental factor, so in existing empirical studies there exist many different methods to measure the depiction of investor sentiment. The methods of designing indicators to measure investor sentiment for the whole stock market, there are no separate studies for investors according to specific industries of the business. Existing empirical studies in other countries show that investor sentiment affects investment activities of enterprises by two ways: The path of The catering theory and the theoretical path Theory of optimism”. The research results are still different. Most scholars argue that the relationship between investor sentiment and firm's investment level is a positive relationship, but some scholars prove that investor sentiment is inversely related to investment activities of the business. Therefore, the article proposes more research directions for the research articles on investment activities of enterprises participating in the stock market of Vietnam.

This article will brief through the current practices of collecting and utilizing the environmental protection fees at the localities, point out the results, and highlight the remaining aspects along with their root causes. From there, the article will suggest recommendations in order to emphasize effective management over the collection of the environmental fee in Vietnam.

On the basis of components and products of Fintech ecosystem, the article mentioned Fintech market in Vietnam, clarifying positive and negative impacts of Fintech on operations of finance-banking industry, from there to issue some recommendations for activities of Vietnam’s Finance-Banking industry to meet new trends.

Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) are widely used for establishing large scale topological maps. Recently, drones have been integrated with high-quality GNSS receivers which allows real time kinematic positioning (RTK), so are called UAV/RTK. This technology is beneficial to surveyors as they do not need to establish many ground control points in mapping such a complex terrain as open-pit mines. DJI Phantom 4 RTK (P4K) is a UAV/RTK which is of much interest due to its small size and low cost. For open-pit mines, the takeoff position of P4K needs to be seriously considered because of its influence on the accuracy of the digital surface model (DSM) and safety of survey flights. This article presents the method of determining the optimal takeoff positions for UAV in large scale mapping for open pit mines. To evaluate this method, a site of steep and rugged terrain with an area of 80 hectares at the Coc Sau coal mine was chosen as the study area. The results indicate that two optimal locations with altitudes of +50 m and +160 m could be used for taking off the P4K. The accuracy of DSM generated from UAV images using the optimal positions satisfied the accuracy requirement of large scale topological maps at the deepest area of the mine (the altitude of -60 m).

As one of the two largest coal production and trading units in Vietnam, Vietnam National Coal - Mineral Industries Holding Corporation Limited (Vinacomin) is still operating both under the planning mechanism and the market mechanism. Additionally, in recent years, the group's coal price is also being built under these mechanisms. In the context of increasingly deep integration, fluctuating coal price and market, the competition of imported coal is getting more and more fierce, while coal mining conditions are increasingly difficult, the coal production and trading still have many shortcomings, so it is necessary to have a coal price determination mechanism accordance with the actual conditions of the Vietnamese coal market. Therefore, in order to determine the coal price scientifically and in association with practice, the reference to the coal pricing mechanism in some countries around the world to draw lessons for Vinacomin plays an important role. The content of this article mentions the coal pricing mechanism in some countries with a large amount of coal mining and consumption such as China, Australia, Russia, Indonesia,... thereby giving a comprehensive view of the coal price management, operation and construction mechanism of some coal markets in the world and as a reference basis for Vinacomin.

Planification is the first function of management process. It has important role to guide and coordinate the other works of enterprise. Coal mining companies in Vinacomin are big ones, operating in the parent companies – subsidiary companies model, so the planification is more important. But these companies have operated from planification mechanism to market mechanism, so planification of them also has some weakness which be effected by habit or experience from old mechanism. Furthermore now Vietnamese Coal Market have had lots changes. The Government is also having the guide to establish and develop Vietnamese Coal Market. So it is essential to innovate planification of coal mining companies in Vinacomin to be suitable with the current context. The paper use some research methods such as theoretical research method; statistical method,… to clarifi necessity of innovating planification of coal mining companies in Vinacomin; establishing theoretical frame work about innovation planification of companies; guiding to innovate planification of coal mining companies in Vinacomin in the current context.

The mechanizetion of Ha Lam coal seam 11 was designed with mining output of 600.000 tous per year. In fact, due to the negative impact of geological conditions as well as the irrationality of the initial production organization, the mining output of the longwall is not reached according to the designed capacity. The paper proposes a method to determine the effective working time of the actual longwall based on each component stage. For specific conditions at coal seam 11 in Ha Lam coal mine. The mean flow rate of the mining stream is considered as a directional factor of the linear function describing the relation between the daily output and the effective mining in the longwall face. This relation is also considered as motivation in particular for supervisory personnel, as it shows advantages resulting from elongation of this time, as well as it shows possible losses of the daily output in a case when the effective working time is given longwall face was shortened.

This article presents a technical solution of displacement and deformation monitoring in real-time based on GNSS CORS technology. The components and principles of operation of the monitoring system for displacement and deformation have been designed and established. The continuous operation reference station (CORS) with Net S8+ receiver was used to correct position for monitoring station in the RTCM format. A device for receiving and transmitting data from the monitoring station to the server has been designed and developed. NMEA messages have been decoded and filtered through three steps using our self-developed software which improves the accuracy of the monitoring results. The results of monitoring of displacement and deformation of An Binh high-rise building (in Hanoi) show that the developed equipment system can monitor displacement horizontally to 3 mm and vertical displacement to 5 mm.

In the world, the coal fines usually are upgraded in flotation columns (Jameson, Pneufloat, Microcell,...). The reflux flotation cell is a novel type of flotation column that uses a system of inclined channels to enhance bubble - liquid segregation in flotation. Additionally, in this type of device, it is used a special froth washing mechanism with pressurized water to ameliorate the quality of cleaned coals. This type of device has a simple structure, high capacity and allows to receive cleaned coals of high quality. This paper presents the test results of coal fines samples -0,3mm from Vang Danh Mine by flotation in a laboratory Reflux flotation cell. In the test works, some process parameters are investigated and optimized: flotation time, pulp density, feed rate, froth height, wash water, and flotation reagents regime.

In this paper, we proposed a novel approach for estimating preliminary values of parameters of the Asadi profiling function (APF), then the least-squares principle was used with these preliminary values and ground subsidence monitoring data at the Thong Nhat underground mine to determine to the final parameters of the APF. This function was employed to predict ground subsidence at the Mong Duong mine where there are geological and rock geomachenial conditions well as seams’ inclination similar to those of Thong Nhat mine. The results show that the Rood Mean Square Error (RMSE) and Mean Absolute Error (MAE) equal to 0.081 m and 0.055 m or 9.9% and 6.7% of maximum subsidence, respectively, and a correlation coefficient of 0.973. These results prove that the APF with calculated parameters can be used to predict ground subsidence due to underground mining in the areas that have the similar conditions to Thong Nhat mine.

This paper presents results of investigating, designing, and building a monitoring system in real-time based on GNSS CORS technology in order to monitor landslides at Xekaman 3 hydropower plant in the Lao people’s Democratic Republic. A system with 18 monitoring stations and a CORS station has been designed to ensure the operation of system 24/7. The connection diagram for data transmission from the monitoring stations to the data processing center, as well as the connection diagram of the devices at a monitoring station has been designed. A simulation experiment has shown that the designed system can be applied for real-time monitoring of landslide.

Using photo data of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) for building 3D models has been widely used in recent years. However, building a 3D model for deep open - pit coal mines with the mean height difference between surface and bottom of mines to over 500 m, there has not been researched mentioned. The paper deals with the assessment possibility of developing 3D models for deep open - pit mines from UAV image data. To accomplish this goal, DJI's Inspire 2 flying device is used to take the photo at Coc Sau coal mine. The flying area is 4 km2, the flight altitude compared to the takeoff point on the mine surface is 250 m, the overlaying coverage is both horizontal and vertical is 70%. The average errors of the horizontal and height elements of the reference points photo correlates are 0.011 m, 0.017 m, 0.016 m, 0.049 m, and 0.051 m. The maximum error on the X-axis is - 0,025 m, and the Y-axis is 0.028 m, the maximum horizontal error is 0.034 m, the maximum error on the Z-axis is 0.095 m, and the position error is 0.095 m. These results show that the 3D model established from photographic data by Inspire 2 device has satisfied the requirements of the accuracy of establishing the mining terrain map 1: 1000 scale.

Geological condition of 6# at Nam Mau coal mines is very complicated for mechanism longwall method, specialy was cause of is the cause of difficulties in moving hydraulic support, so it is necessary to have appropriate reform solutions for the support equipment to operate effectively. The result of dynamic field measurements at the site shows that the maximum support pressure is from 5 to 10 m in front of the mechanism longwall. The coal seam area is located close to the working face due to the influence of the support pressure and beyond the durable limit which was in an unconsolidated state, so it is possible to cause the mirror landslide and topping out. Calculation results show that the distance of 15 m against advance reinforcement at the junction of the furnace head and foot furnace as designed. The results of the study of the distribution of surrounding longwall face pressure, length of longwall need longer 40 meters.

Asia has been the region with the world’s fastest growing economies in decades, and it continues to lead global growth in the future. The rapid economic growth has led to a huge demand for energy. However, this problem faces enormous environmental problems, climate change and global warming, in particular. Therefore, the transition energy from traditional energy to clean energy sources, renewable energy is imperative and to be inevitable trend in the future. With cleaner properties than oil and coal, natural gas can be seen as an important bridge in the transition energy process towards a low-carbon economy in Asia. Despite the fact that there are a lot of controversies and uncertainties about the development of natural gas in Asia, there are many reasons for us to believe that natural gas will play an important role in the energy mix in Asia in the future, such as the development of unconventional gas, the development of natural gas and LNG markets, environmental and climate policies, or the decline in energy prices. This paper will show the favorable condition to explain why natural gas can play an important role in the energy transition in Asia.
