The article provides an overview of recent policy developments and enforcement actions in Taiwan's digital economy. It focuses on two specific cases: the competition between delivery platforms and the mergers of online banks. In the case of delivery platforms, the article explains how Foodpanda's practices can harm competition and give it an advantage. In the case of online bank mergers, the Taiwan Fair Trade Commission (TFTC) considered factors like data access and protection. The TFTC found that data was not a barrier to entry and that the mergers did not restrict competition in terms of data protection. The article concludes by stating that the TFTC's enforcement decisions consider the unique characteristics of the digital economy. [Extracted from the article]
