SUMMARY OBJECTIVE: To analyze abdominal drain on the first postoperative day and evaluate its predictive nature for the diagnosis of Pancreatic Fistula exclusion, seeking to establish a cutoff point from which lower values demonstrate safety in excluding the possibility of this complication. METHODS: From August 2017 to June 2020, data from 48 patients undergoing pancreatic resection were collected and analyzed from a prospective cohort. The patients were divided into two groups, one group consisting of patients who did not develop PF (Group A), and the other composed of patients who developed PF (Group B). The receiver operation characteristic curve was constructed, and cutoff points were evaluated by calculating sensitivity and specificity. RESULTS: Group A brought 30 patients together (62.5%) and Group B brought 18 patients together (37.5%). The 444 U/L value was the most satisfactory cutoff point for the receiver operation characteristic curve (CI 0.690–0.941), with a sensitivity of 94.4% and a specificity of 60%, thus being able to select 18 of 30 patients who did not succumb to PF. CONCLUSIONS: Abdominal drain on the first postoperative day can be used as a predictive factor in the diagnosis of PF exclusion (CI 0.690–0.941), with the value of 444 U/L being the best performance cutoff point.

Gastrointestinal Stromal tumors (GIST) are uncommon primary mesenchymal tumors arising from the gastrointestinal tract. The duodenum location is unusual. The authors present a case of duodenal GIST, mimicking a pancreatic tumor. Preoperatively computed tomography (CT) revealed a hypervascular mass of 10 cm in diameter, in the pancreatic head. Endoscopic examination showed erosion in duodenal mucosal with local bleeding. The patient underwent sucessfully pylorus-preserving pancreaticoduodenectomy.

Background and study aims Eosinophilic pancreatitis (EP) is a rare etiology of chronic pancreatitis, and few cases have been reported. It is characterized by eosinophilic infiltration of the pancreas and elevated IgE levels. EP is difficult to distinguish from pancreatic cancer based on clinical symptoms and auxiliary exams. We present a case of EP and debate the routine performance of endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspiration (EUS-FNA) for resectable pancreatic mass.

PURPOSE: To investigate if the ethyl-pyruvate solution could reduce mortality in AP and/or diminish the acute lung injury. METHODS: Forty male rats, weighing between 270 to 330 grams were operated. An experimental model of severe AP by injection of 0.1ml/100g of 2.5% sodium taurocholate into the bilio-pancreatic duct was utilized. The rats were divided into two groups of ten animals each: CT - control (treatment with 50ml/kg of Ringer's solution, intraperitoneal) and EP (treatment with 50ml/kg of Ringer ethyl- pyruvate solution, intra-peritoneal), three hours following AP induction. After six hours, a new infusion of the treatment solution was performed in each group. Two hours later, the animals were killed and the pulmonary parenchyma was resected for biomolecular analysis, consisting of: interleukin, myeloperoxidase, MDA, nitric oxide, metalloproteinases and heat shock protein. In the second part of the experiment, another, 20 rats were randomly divided into EP and CT groups, in order to evaluate a survival comparison between the two groups. RESULTS: There were no significant differences in IL-1B,IL-10, MMP-9, HSP70, nitric oxide, MPO, MDA (lipidic peroxidation) concerning both groups. Objective: To determine the expression of p53, p16 and Ki-67 and its relevance in survival and cell differentiation. Methods: Fifteen duodenopancreatectomized patients were included. Immunohistochemical expression of p53, p16 and Ki-67 was determined in paraffin embedded tumor blocks. The relation of these expressions with different variables was studied. Results: Ninety-three per cent of tumors showed expression of p53 and p16. Ki-67 was expressed in 86.66% of tumors (labeling index – LI 11.91 ± 9.47). The presence of combined alterations was not related to significant differences in tumor type, stage or survival; similar results were obtained analyzing isolated expressions. When groups of p16 and Ki-67 expressions where created, the median survival was not significant. However, there was a slightly better survival in patients with focal expression of p16 (median survival 20.75 versus 14.34), when compared to patients with diffuse expression. Conclusion: The overexpression of p53, p16 and Ki-67 was not related to survival or tumor grade, when comparing isolated or combined expressions. RESUMO Objetivo: Determinar a expressão de p53, p16 e Ki-67 e sua relevância na sobrevida e diferenciação celular. Métodos: Foram incluídos 15 pacientes submetidos a duodenopancreatectomia. A expressão imunohistoquímica de p53, p16 e Ki-67 foi determinada em blocos tumorais embebidos em parafina. Foi estudada a relação dessas expressões com as variáveis. Resultados: Noventa e três por cento dos tumores apresentaram expressão de p53 e p16. Ki-67 estava expresso em 86,66% dos tumores (índice proliferativo – IP 11,91 ± 9,47). A presença de alterações combinadas não estava relacionada a diferenças significativas no tipo tumoral, no estágio ou na sobrevida; resultados semelhantes foram obtidos com a análise de expressões isoladas. Quando foram criados os grupos de expressões de p16 e Ki-67, a sobrevida mediana não era significativa. Entretanto, havia uma sobrevida discretamente melhor nos pacientes com expressão focal do p16 (sobrevida mediana 20,75 versus 14,34) em comparação com pacientes com expressão difusa. Conclusão: A superexpressão das proteínas p53, p16 e Ki-67 não estava relacionada à sobrevida ou ao grau tumoral quando se compararam as expressões isoladas ou combinadas.

Resumen El insulinoma es la neoplasia mas frecuente del grupo de tumores neuroendocrinos de pancreas. En el presente estudio se evaluaron los resultados clinicos e inmunohistoquimicos de 20 casos de pacientes tratados quirurgicamente desde enero de 1986 hasta diciembre de 2004. Se describio el cuadro clinico, los examenes de laboratorio e imageneologicos, y se hizo enfasis en los aspectos quirurgicos, las complicaciones y el seguimiento a medio y largo plazo. La cirugia se indico sobre la base de las evidencias clinicas y analiticas de hipoglucemia e hiperinsulinemia. En 15 pacientes se logro la localizacion previa de la lesion, en 5, su localizacion fue identificada durante la cirugia mediante la palpacion y a traves del ultrasonido intraoperatorio. Los procedimientos quirurgicos realizados con mas frecuencia fueron la reseccion pancreatica en la mitad de los pacientes y la enucleacion por laparotomia en la otra mitad. En 2 pacientes se utilizo la via laparoscopica. Dos presentaron tardiamente diabetes mellitus. La complicacion quirurgica mas frecuente fue la fistula pancreatica en 13 de los casos. No hubo mortalidad en la presente serie. En la totalidad de los pacientes se obtuvo la reversion clinica de los sintomas, caracterizada por la desaparicion de la triada de Whipple, ademas de la normalizacion o el aumento de los valores de glucemia, comparados con los valores del preoperatorio.

To test the use of diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging (DW-MRI) to differentiate between different degrees of severity of acute pancreatitis (AP). Thirty-six patients who underwent DW-MRI and magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography were divided into patients with mild AP (mAP, n = 15), patients with necrotizing AP (nAP, n = 8), and patients with a normal pancreas (nP, n = 15; controls). The pancreas was divided into head, body, and tail, and each segment was classified according to image features: pattern 1, normal; pattern 2, mild inflammation; and pattern 3, necrosis. Apparent diffusion coefficients (ADCs) were measured in each segment and correlated with clinical diagnoses. A total of 108 segments was assessed (three segments per patient). Segments classified as pattern 1 in the nP and mAP groups showed similar ADC values (P = 0.29). OBJETIVO: Avaliar os resultados do Protocolo de Atendimento de pacientes com diagnóstico de pancreatite aguda grave. MÉTODOS: Foram analisados, consecutivamente, a partir de janeiro de 2002, idade, sexo, etiologia, tempo de internação, tipo de tratamento e mortalidade de 37 pacientes portadores de pancreatite aguda grave. RESULTADOS: A idade dos pacientes variou de 20 a 88 anos (média de 50 anos); 27% foram do sexo feminino e 73% do masculino. O tempo médio global de internação foi 47 dias. Treze pacientes foram tratados cirurgicamente; a média de operações realizadas foi duas por paciente. Ocorreram seis óbitos dentre os pacientes submetidos ao tratamento cirúrgico (46%) e dois óbitos no grupo submetido somente ao tratamento clínico (8,3%). A mortalidade global foi 21% CONCLUSÃO: Após a modificação na forma de abordagem dos pacientes com pancreatite aguda grave, houve diminuição da mortalidade e uma tendência para a conduta expectante. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the results of the Protocol for treatment of patients with severe acute pancreatitis. METHODS: We consecutively analyzed age, gender, etiology, length of hospital stay, type of treatment and mortality of 37 patients with severe acute pancreatitis from January 2002. RESULTS: The patients' ages ranged from 20 to 88 years (average 50 years), 27% were female and 73% male. Mean overall hospital stay was 47 days. Thirteen patients were treated surgically, the average operations per patient was two. There were six deaths among patients undergoing surgical treatment (46%) and two deaths in the group submitted to medical treatment alone (8.3%). The overall mortality was 21%. CONCLUSION: After modification in the form of management of patients with severe acute pancreatitis, there was a decrease in mortality and a trend for conservative management. Las técnicas convencionales de resección pancreática para el tratamiento de enfermedades neoplásicas, en la mayoría de las veces implican la extirpación de segmentos extensos del parénquima pancreático, existiendo como eventuales complicaciones a largo plazo, el surgimiento de insuficiencia pancreática endocrina o exocrina. La pancreatectomía central se constituye en una alternativa de resección pancreática, que limita esta resección solamente al sector comprometido, especialmente en las neoplasias benignas o de bajo grado de malignidad. Presentamos las características clínicas, de imagen y la técnica empleada en dos pacientes, para el tratamiento quirúrgico de un tumor endocrino no funcionante y de un cistoadenoma seroso, localizados en el cuello del páncreas, mediante la pancreatectomía central.

To evaluate the effects of iodine contrast media and gadoteric acid in acute necrotizing pancreatitis.Fifty rabbits were distributed in 5 groups: 10 rabbits were assigned in the control group (group 5) and 40 rabbits were assigned in the pancreatitis group, wherein acute necrotizing pancreatitis was induced through retrograde injection of 5% sodium taurocholate (1 mL/kg weight) in the main pancreatic duct. After 3 hours, they were randomized to receive endovenous iodinized nonionic contrast medium (group 1), iodinized ionic contrast medium (group 2), gadoteric acid (group 3), and physiological serum at 0.9% (group 4). Six hours after induction of pancreatitis, these animals were reoperated. During surgery, pancreatic tissue flow through laser Doppler, hematometric values, biochemistry, and histopathology analysis by hematoxylin and eosin were done. Statistical analysis using Kruskal-Wallis, Fisher-Freeman-Halton, and parametric t tests was performed.There was statistical significance when comparing tissue flow before and after induction of pancreatitis (P0.0001). Ionic and nonionic contrast media and gadoteric acid did not increase the grade of pancreatic necrosis (P0.05).Ionic and nonionic contrast media and gadoteric acid did not produce adverse effects in the present model of acute necrotizing pancreatitis.

RACIONAL: O insulinoma é uma neoplasia que pertence ao grupo de tumores neuroendócrinos do pâncreas; embora raro, é o mais freqüente entre eles. OBJETIVO: Avaliar os resultados clínico e imunohistoquímico de doentes com insulinoma de pâncreas submetidos a tratamento cirúrgico. PACIENTES E MÉTODOS: Foram detalhados o quadro clínico, exames laboratoriais e de imagem, dando ênfase aos aspectos cirúrgicos, complicações e acompanhamento, a médio e longo prazos, de 12 doentes portadores de insulinoma. A cirurgia foi indicada para todos, com base nas evidências clínicas e laboratoriais de hipoglicemia e hiperinsulinemia. RESULTADOS: Em sete doentes conseguiu-se a localização prévia da lesão; em cinco, sua localização foi identificada durante a cirurgia mediante palpação e através do ultra-som intra-operatório. O procedimento mais freqüentemente utilizado foi a ressecção pancreática em oito doentes. A complicação cirúrgica mais freqüente foi a fístula pancreática, observada em sete doentes. Dois apresentaram tardiamente diabetes mellitus. Não houve mortes na presente casuística. CONCLUSÃO: Na totalidade dos doentes obteve-se a reversão clínica dos sintomas, caracterizada pelo desaparecimento da tríade de Whipple, além de normalização ou aumento dos níveis de glicemia, quando comparados aos valores do pré-operatório. BACKGROUND: Despite its rarity, the insulinoma is the most common pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor. OBJECTIVE: Analyze clinical and immunohistochemical data from surgical resection of the pancreas insulinoma. METHOD: Twelve cases are described, concerning surgical aspects, complications and medium-long term outcome of patients. They underwent surgical treatment due to clinical suspicion and biochemical diagnosis of hypoglycemia and hyperinsulinism. RESULTS: The insulinoma was identified preoperatively in seven patients, while intraoperative ultrasonography and palpation were necessary for diagnosis in the other cases. Eight patients underwent pancreatic resection and pancreatic leak was observed in seven cases. Two patients developed diabetes mellitus and no mortality occurred in the current series. CONCLUSION: All patients presented satisfactory outcome and remained asymptomatic with normal glicemia levels.

Intestinal complications after laparoscopic cholecystectomy are rare and usually caused by direct injury sustained on trocar insertion. However, intestinal ischaemia has been reported as an unusual complication of the pneumoperitoneum. We describe a 55-years-old patient who underwent an uneventful laparoscopic cholecystectomy after an episode of acute cholecystitis. Initial recovery was complicated by development of increasing abdominal pain which led to open laparotomy on day 2. Gangrene of the distal ileum and right-sided colon was detected and small bowel resection with right colectomy and primary anastomosis was performed. Histological examination of the resected ileum showed features of venous hemorragic infarction and trombosis. In view of the proximity of the operation it is assumed that ileal ischaemia was precipitated by carbon dioxide pneumoperitoneum. Some studies have been demonstrated that, within 30 minutes of establishing a pneumoperitoneum at an intraabdominal pressure of 16 mmHg, cardiac output, blood flow in the superior mesenteric artery and portal vein decrease progressively. Carbon dioxide pneumoperitoneum may lead to mechanical compression of the splanchnic veins and mesenteric vasoconstriction as a result of carbon dioxide absortion. The distribution of the ischaemic segment of intestine is also unusual as the most precarious blood supply is traditionally at the splenic flexure of the colon. It has been suggested that intermittent decompression of the abdomen reduces the risk of mesenteric ischaemia during penumoperitoneum especially in patients with predisposing clinical features for arteriosclerosis intestinal. In present patient was observed intestinal venous infarction what remains unclear but we think the carbon dioxide pneumoperitoneum have been related to it.

INTRODUÇÃO: A lesão de isquemia/reperfusão hepática ocorre durante cirurgias hepáticas de grande porte, transplante de fígado e no trauma abdominal. A lesão de isquemia/reperfusão hepática ocasiona lesões no fígado e pode desencadear uma síndrome inflamatória sistêmica com lesões de órgãos a distância. Estudos anteriores demonstraram que o diazóxido protege outros órgãos (coração, rins, cérebro) da lesão de isquemia/reperfusão destes órgãos. OBJETIVO: Investigar o efeito da administração do diazóxido na lesão de isquemia/reperfusão hepática. MÉTODOS: Ratos Wistar machos foram divididos em 3 grupos. Em 2 grupos, os animais foram submetidos à isquemia hepática parcial realizada por clampeamento do pedículo dos lobos mediano e lateral anterior esquerdo durante uma hora sob ventilação mecânica. Grupo Salina (n=26): ratos receberam solução salina e Grupo Diazóxido (n=26): ratos receberam diazóxido EV ( 3.5mg/kg ) 15 minutos antes da reperfusão hepática. No terceiro grupo, Grupo Controle (n = 22 ), os ratos foram submetidos apenas à anestesia e manipulação cirúrgica. Quatro e 24 horas após os procedimentos, amostras de sangue foram recolhidas para determinações de AST, ALT, TNF-alfa, IL-6, IL-10, de nitrito/nitrato, creatinina. Amostras teciduais do fígado foram analisadas para dosagem do malondialdeído (MDA), para o estudo das funções oxidativas e fosforilativas mitocondriais, e para a análise histológica. Pela coleta de tecido pulomonar, a permeabilidade vascular pulmonar e a atividade da mieloperoxidade (MPO) também foram determinados. RESULTADOS: Quatro horas após, a reperfusão o Grupo Diazóxido apresentou elevações de AST, ALT, TNF-alfa, IL-6, IL-10 e níveis séricos de nitrito/nitrato significativamente menores que o Grupo Controle (p < 0,05). Observou-se uma redução significativa da disfunção mitocondrial hepática no Grupo Diazóxido em comparação com o Grupo Controle (p < 0,05). Não foram observadas diferenças no conteúdo de MDA fígado, na creatinina sérica e na permeabilidade vascular pulmonar, e na atividade da MPO entre os grupos. Vinte e quatro horas após, a reperfusão o Grupo Diazóxido registrou uma redução de AST, ALT quando comparado ao Grupo Controle (p < 0,05). CONCLUSÃO: O Diazóxido mantém a função mitocondrial do fígado, aumenta a tolerância fígado à lesão de Isquemia/Reperfusão e reduz a resposta inflamatória sistêmica. Esses efeitos requerem comprovações adicionais para o uso na prática clínica INTRODUCTION: Significant liver ischemia/reperfusion injury can occur during hepatic surgeries, liver transplantation and abdominal trauma. Hepatic ischemia/reperfusion can trigger a local and systemic inflammatory syndrome. Previous studies have shown that diazoxide protects other organs (heart, kidneys, brain) from ischemia/reperfusion injury. AIM: To investigate the effect of diazoxide administration on liver ischemic/reperfusion injury. METHODS: Wistar male rats were divided into 3 groups. In two groups the rats underwent partial liver ischemia performed by clamping the pedicle from medium and left anterior lateral segments during an hour under mechanical ventilation. Saline Group (n=26): rats received saline and Diazoxide Group (n=26): rats received IV diazoxide (3.5mg/kg) 15 minutes before liver reperfusion. The third group, the Control Group (n=22) the rats underwent only anesthesia and surgical manipulation. Four and 24 hours after the procedure blood were collected for determinations of AST, ALT, TNF-alfa, IL-6, IL-10, nitrite/nitrate, creatinine. Liver tissues were assembled for mitochondrial oxidation and phosphorylation, malondialdehyde (MDA) content, and histologic analysis. Pulmonary vascular permeability and myeloperoxidade (MPO) were also determined. RESULTS: Four hours after reperfusion Diazoxide Group presented elevation of AST, ALT, TNF-alfa, IL-6, IL-10 and nitrite/nitrate serum levels significantly lower than Control Group (p < 0.05). A significant reduction on liver mitochondrial dysfunction were observed in Diazoxide Group compared to Control Group (p < 0.05). No differences in liver MDA content,serum creatinine and in pulmonary vascular permeability and MPO activity were observed between groups. Twenty four hours after reperfusion Diazoxide Group showed a reduction of AST, ALT and TGF?1 serum levels when compared to Control group (p < 0.05). CONCLUSION: Diazoxide maintains liver mitochondrial function, increases liver tolerance to I/R injury, and reduces systemic inflammatory response. These effects require further evaluations for using in a clinical setting

INTRODUÇÃO: O câncer do pâncreas apresenta taxas anuais de mortalidade e incidência muito semelhantes, sendo uma das principais causas de morte por câncer no mundo. A agressividade do tumor e o retardo no seu diagnóstico são considerados responsáveis pela sua alta letalidade. O tratamento adjuvante convencional aumenta pouco a sobrevida a longo prazo e a terapia-alvo pode ser uma alternativa ao tratamento deste tipo de tumor. OBJETIVO: O objetivo do presente estudo é avaliar a expressão do receptor do fator de crescimento epitelial e seu eventual valor prognóstico em pacientes portadores de adenocarcinoma pancreático submetidos à ressecção cirúrgica. MÉTODO: Foram estudados retrospectivamente 88 pacientes portadores de adenocarcinoma pancreático operados no Serviço de Cirurgia de Vias Biliares e Pâncreas do HC-FMUSP e no Departamento de Cirurgia Abdominal Hospital A.C. Camargo no período de 1990 a 2006. RESULTADOS: Quarenta e sete (53,4%) pacientes do sexo feminino e 41 (46,6%) do masculino com idade mediana de 60 anos. As cirurgias realizadas foram duodenopancreatectomia com preservação do piloro (55,1%), gastroduodenopancreatectomia (34,8%), pancreatectomia corpo-caudal (6,8%) e gastroduodenopancreatectomia total (2,3%). A ressecção venosa portal foi realizada em 12 pacientes (13,5%). O tamanho tumoral médio foi de 3,75cm. Invasão vascular esteve presente em 31% dos casos e neural em 88,5%. A margem de ressecção estava comprometida em 33 pacientes (37,5%). Cinco (5,7%) pacientes eram do estádio IA, 15(17%) do IB, 19(21,6%) do IIA, 47(53,4) do IIB e dois (2,3%) do III.Observou-se diferença na expressão de EGFR na membrana celular entre o tecido tumoral e o tecido não tumoral (p=0,004); entre o tecido metastático linfonodal e o tecido não tumoral (p=0,02) mas não houve diferença quanto à sua expressão quando comparamos o tecido tumoral e o tecido metastático linfonodal (p=0,28). Dentre as variáveis clínicas e patológicas estudadas, observou-se diferença de expressão do EGFR entre os gêneros feminino e masculino (p=0,03), não havendo diferenças entre as outras variáveis. A sobrevida mediana global foi de 22,9 meses. A sobrevida cumulativa global em 1 ano, 3 anos e 5 anos foi de 48%, 20% e 18%, respectivamente. As sobrevidas cumulativas em 1 ano, 3 anos e 5 anos foram 77%, 30% e 8% no grupo sem expressão do EGFR na membrana tumoral versus 46%, 8% e 0% respectivamente no grupo com expressão do EGFR na membrana celular do tumor. Na análise univariada, as seguintes variáveis estiveram associadas a menor sobrevida: sexo masculino, ressecção venosa portal, invasão peri-neural, e vascular, invasão do tecido peri-pancreático, acometimento da margem de ressecção pancreática e expressão positiva de EGFR no tecido tumoral. Na análise multivariada, os fatores associados à sobrevida menor foram: gênero masculino, ressecção venosa portal, invasão vascular e invasão peri-neural. CONCLUSÃO: A expressão do EGFR na membrana celular é significativamente maior no tecido tumoral que no tecido pancreático não tumoral. A expressão do EGFR na membrana celular do tecido tumoral está associada a pior prognóstico (menor sobrevida). INTRODUCTION: Pancreatic cancer is one of the main cancer related deaths in the world and its incidence is similar to its mortality. Biological aggressiveness and delayed diagnosis are a major concern. Adjuvant treatment has little impact on survival and the expression of potential target molecules has been undertaken in order to increase survival. OBJECTIVE: The aim of the present study is to study the expression of EGFR and its potential prognostic role in tumor, non-tumor and metastatic lymph node tissues of patient with pancreatic adenocarcinoma treated with surgical resection. MATHERIAL AND METHODS: Eighty eight patients with pancreatic adenocarcinoma operated at Serviço de Cirurgia de Vias Biliares e Pâncreas do HC-FMUSP and Departamento de Cirurgia Abdominal do Hospital A.C.Camargo were retrospectively studied between 1990 and 2003. RESULTS: Forty seven females (53,4%) and 41 males (46,6%) with median age of 60 years were studied. Pylorus preserving duodenopancreatectomy was performed in 55%, classical duodenopancreatectomy in 34,8%, distal pancreatectomy in 6,8% and total pancreatectomy in 2,3%. Portal vein resection was performed in 12 patients (13,5%). Mean tumor size was 3,75cm. Vascular and neural invasion were present in 31% and 88,5%, respectively. Positive surgical margin was present in 33 (37,5%) patients. Five (5,7%) patients were stage IA, 15(17%) stages IB, 19(21,6%) stages IIA, 47(53,4%) stages IIB and two (2,3%) stages III. There were difference in the membrane expression of EGFR between tumor and non tumor pancreatic tissue (p=0,004); between metastatic lymph node and non tumor pancreatic tissue (p=0,02); but there were no difference between tumor and metastatic lymph node tissue (p=0,28). Median survival time was 22,9 months. Cumulative one, three and five years survival were 48%, 20% and 18%. Cumulative survival at 1, 3 and 5 years were 77%, 30% and 8% in patients with negative expression of EGFR in tumor membrane and 46%, 8% and 0%, respectively in patients with positive EGFR expression in tumoral membrane. Univariate analysis showed that male gender, portal vein resection, neural, vascular and peri-pancreatic invasion invasion, positive surgical margin and positive membrane EGFR expression in tumoral tissue were correlated with poor survival. Multivariate analysis showed that male gender, portal vein resection, vascular invasion and peri-neural invasion are associated with lower survival after resection. CONCLUSION: EGFR membrane expression is different between tumor tissue and non tumor pancreatic tissue. EGFR membrane expression in tumoral tissue was associated with worst survival.
