AIM When intravenous thrombolysis cannot be performed for cerebral infarction, antiplatelet drugs can be used before endovascular thrombectomy (EVT) to prevent procedural thromboembolism. We retrospectively compared an antiplatelet-preparation group with a no-preparation group to evaluate the effect of the antiplatelet preparation on procedural thromboembolism during EVT with diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI). MATERIAL AND METHODS From January 2017 to April 2020, EVT was performed in 60 patients with cerebral infarction. Patients were categorized into the antiplatelet-preparation group (n = 25) or the no-preparation group (n = 35). Procedural thromboembolism was defined as new DWI-positive lesions in other areas of the occluded artery after EVT. RESULTS The antiplatelet-preparation and no-preparation groups did not differ in the rate of procedural thromboembolism occurrence (6/25 [24.0%] vs. 6/35 [17.1%]; P = 0.532). Procedural thromboembolism was associated with age (74.4 ± 6.95 years vs. 65.7 ± 12.9 years; P = 0.028), atherosclerotic occlusion (66.7% vs. 29.2%; P = 0.022), and procedural time (97.4 ± 45.7 min vs. 60.1 ± 28.8 min; P = 0.001). Multivariable logistic regression analysis showed that factors affecting procedural thromboembolism during EVT for cerebral infarction were old age (odds ratio [OR], 1.133; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.009-1.273; P = 0.035), atherosclerotic occlusion (OR, 7.434; 95% CI, 1.272-43.431; P = 0.026), and longer procedural time (OR, 1.023; 95% CI, 1.001 - 1.046; P = 0.006). CONCLUSION The antiplatelet preparation had no significant protective effect on procedural thromboembolism during EVT for cerebral infarction. Old age, atherosclerotic occlusion, and longer procedural time were independent risk factors for procedural thromboembolism during EVT for cerebral infarction.

이 연구는 치과내원 환자의 진료특성에 따른 주관적 구강건강상태, 구강관리용품에 대한 인지 및 사용, 주관적 구강건강상태와 구강관리용품에 대한 인지 및 사용의 관련성을 조사하였다. 자료는 2013년 12월 2일에서 12월 31일까지 약 한 달 동안 대구시 일부 치과의원에 내원하는 592명 환자를 대상으로 자기기입식 설문지조사를 하였다. 환자특성별에 따른 주관적 구강건강상태는 정기구강검진환자가 가장 높았으며, 구강관리용품 인지와 사용은 교정환자가 가장 높았다. 주관적 구강건강상태와 구강관리용품 인지 및 사용의 관련성은 주관적 구강건강상태가 높을 수록 구강관리용품에 대한 인지는 높게 나타났으나 사용은 유의한 관련성이 없는 것으로 나타났으며, 구강관리용품에 대한 인지가 높을수록 구강관리용품 사용이 높게 나타났다. 따라서 주관적 구강건강상태가 높은 환자는 구강관리용품 사용의 필요성을 못 느끼고 있는 반면, 치과를 자주 방문하거나 치과의료진으로부터 적극적인 구강관리용품 교육을 받은 교정환자나 임플란트 환자는 구강관리용품에 대한 인지나 사용이 높았다. 또한 구강관리용품에 대한 인지가 높은 환자일수록 사용이 높기 때문에 구강건강상태가 건강한 환자를 비롯하여 건강하지 못한 환자까지 치과를 방문하는 모든 환자에게 구강상태에 알맞은 구강관리용품의 홍보와 교육이 이루어져야 한다.

A 13 MHz Radio Frequency (RF) cavity for an RF implanter has been designed and fabricated at the Proton Engineering Frontier Project (PEFP). It consists of a coil having a circular cross-section, accelerating electrodes that are directly coupled to the beginning and the end of the coil, and a ground electrode for the inductor. The purpose of this paper is to explain the design concept and the measurement results for the RF properties of this cavity. A resonant frequency of 12.69 MHz with critical coupling and an unloaded quality factor of 1066 were achieved, agreeing well with the simulation results. The field distribution in the cavity was measured by using the bead-pull method. The field flatness is 6.5%, which satisfies the control requirements for the field in the cavity.

The red emitting OLEDs using :Rubrene-GDI4234 phosphors have been fabricated and characterized . In the device fabrication, 2- TNATA [4,4`,4` - tris (2- naphthylphenyl - phenylamino ) - tripheny lamine] as the hole injection material and NPB [N,N`-bis (1-naphthyl)-N,N`-diphenyl-1,1`-biphenyl-4,4`-diamine] as the hole transport material were deposited on the ITO(indium tin oxide)/glass substrate by vacuum evaporation. And then, red color emissive layer was deposited using as the host material and Rubrene(5,6,11,12-tetraphenylnaphthacene)-GDI4234 as the dopants. finally, small molecule OLEDs with structure of ITO/2-TNATA/NPB/:Rubrene-GDI4234//LiF/Al were obtained by in-situ deposition of , LiF and Al as the electron transport material, electron injection material and cathode, respectively. Red OLEDs fabricated in our experiments showed the color coordinate of CIE(0.65, 0.35) and the maximum power efficiency of 2.1 lm/W at 7 V with the peak emission wavelength of 632 nm.

Each country in the world considers supercomputers as a key element to be globally competitive and thus politically supports them. Korea also enacted related acts to support supercomputing, and endeavors to secure supercomputer resources globally recognized. In this context, a cost analysis was made to illustrate using supercomputers is more economically efficient than using commercial cloud services to secure supercomputer resources. For this analysis, KISTI Supercomputer No.4 was compared with overseas commercial supercomputer cloud services. The analysis revealed using supercomputers is more economically efficient than using overseas commercial cloud services.

Today, most companies think company-wide collaboration is essential for enforcing their strategies, and actually work collaboratively. However, they recklessly work collaboratively in most cases not to fall behind in competition in their industry without considering the accurate definition and goal of collaboration. To address this issue, it is necessary to evaluate the opportunity of collaboration, and suggest a solution after identifying barriers to collaboration. In this study, an analysis is made of barriers to collaboration in the R&D team through a questionnaire survey for researchers in the KISTI National Institute of Supercomputing and Networking (NISN), based on knowledge about collaboration and barriers to collaboration.

The purpose of this study is to explore factors which influence adoption, implementation and continued use of tele-healthcare systems. Methods: Qualitative research was conducted by in-depth interviews with 17 professionals from various fields of organizations involved in developing and implementing tele-healthcare systems. Data were analysed thematically, using a conceptual model of diffusion of innovations. Results: The system users were reacted positively to the 3 attributes out of 9 which decided the adoption of innovation. In addition, it is required to redesign the tele-health care system simpler and easier so that the system users can access to the system much more easily regardless of space and time limitations. From the design stage on an individual level, it is necessary to conduct detailed needs analysis and listen to users who are at the center of innovation diffusion. On an organizational level, it is necessary to actively prepare for possible problems during system implementation, educate the users and build communication channels continuously. Conclusion: This study has identified the factors affecting the innovation of tele-health care systems and contributed to the understanding of the operation of tele-health care systems by the diffusion of innovation theory in community health posts.

There has been a significant effort to create spiral sensors by changing either the periodic d-spacing of the structure or the dielectric constants of the materials by combining the multi-faceted environmental responsiveness of polymer hydrogels with dielectrical structures.1 Reversible spiral switches with dimensional functionalities that respond to chemical environment were constructed. When the spiral photonic actuator was swollen in hydrophilic acetic acid, right-handed spiral structures are formed, while the spiral photonic actuator was swollen in hydrophobic hexane, left-handed spiral structures are formed. All actuators returned back to the transparent planar state after deswelling processes. These reversible spiral photonic actuators can be applied in the application of mechanical actuators, electrical devices, and optical components.

This case report presents surgical endodontic management outcomes of maxillary incisors that were infected via the lateral canals. Two cases are presented in which endodontically-treated maxillary central incisors had sustained lateral canal infections. A surgical endodontic treatment was performed on both teeth. Flap elevation revealed vertical bone destruction along the root surface and infected lateral canals, and microscopy revealed that the lateral canals were the origin of the lesions. After the infected lateral canals were surgically managed, both teeth were asymptomatic and labial fistulas were resolved. There were no clinical or radiographic signs of surgical endodontic management failure at follow-up visits. This case report highlights the clinical significance and surgical endodontic management of infected lateral canal of maxillary incisor. It is important to be aware of root canal anatomy variability in maxillary incisors. Maxillary central incisors infected via the lateral canal can be successfully managed by surgical endodontic treatment.

Bacterial infection is an important cause of death in patients with liver cirrhosis. The aim of this study was to investigate the clinical characteristics and prognostic impact of bacterial infection in hospitalized patients with alcoholic liver disease (ALD). We retrospectively analyzed data from 409 patients consecutively admitted to a tertiary referral center with ALD diagnosis. Of a total of 544 admissions, 133 (24.4%) cases presented with bacterial infection, of which 116 were community-acquired whereas 17 were hospital-acquired. In dentistry, the term 'fusion' is used to describe a developmental disorder of dental hard tissues. In the permanent dentition, fusion of a normal tooth and a supernumerary tooth usually involves the incisors or canines. However, a few cases of fusion involving premolars have also been reported to date. We present a rare case in which fusion of the maxillary left second premolar and a supernumerary tooth in a 13-year-old girl was diagnosed using cone beam computed tomography (CBCT, Alphard-3030, Asahi Roentgen Ind. Co., Ltd.). The tooth was bicuspidized after routine nonsurgical root canal treatment, and the separated teeth underwent appropriate restoration procedures. The second premolar and supernumerary tooth remained asymptomatic without any signs of inflammation after a follow-up period of 9 years. Identification of anatomical anomalies is important for treatment in cases involving fusion with supernumerary tooth, and therefore the microscopic examinations and CBCT are essential for the diagnosis. Fused teeth can be effectively managed by the comprehensive treatment which includes both endodontic and periodontal procedures.

We report on a 45-year-old man with a confirmed diagnosis of acute myopericarditis associated with Mycoplasma pneumoniae. He visited our emergency department due to high fever (39℃) via a primary clinic. We made a diagnosis of myopericarditis based on symptoms, cardiac enzymes, electrocardiography, and transthoracic echocardiography. Serology (particle agglutination) testing for M. pneumoniae IgG antibody was also performed. The IgG antibody titer was 1:80 on the second day of admission, and increased to 1:2,560 by the 12th day of admission. Therefore, we confirmed the diagnosis of acute myopericarditis associated with M. pneumoniae and subsequently treated him with azithromycin. The symptoms and laboratory findings improved, and he recovered uneventfully.

Chemical sensors have been essential components in recent years due to the gathering attention in environmental monitoring and healthcare. In this review, the authors comprehensively highlight recent progresses on the 1D chemiresistive-type sensors based on semiconductor metal oxides (SMOs) and optical-type sensors, which are prepared by electrospinning technique. In the part of chemiresistive-type sensors, diverse synthesis techniques for 1D SMO nanofibrous structure are presented with controlled microstructure and surface morphology. In addition, unique functionalization routes of emerging nanocatalysts encapsulated by bio-inspired templates are described for the next generation catalyst on the 1D SMO nanofibers (NFs). For the optical-type sensors, new classes of 1D NFs employing specific absorption and emission properties are introduced. In particular, diverse 1D NF-based colorimetric and fluorescence sensors as well as Raman and surface-enhanced Raman scattering sensors are covered in the view point of material preparation and optical sensing properties. Finally, the authors prospect future research directions to overcome current limitations and challenges to achieve high performance chemical sensors.
