Surface acoustic wave (SAW) can be used as passive wireless sensors in high temperature environments. For such applications, protective layers are crucial and important for the SAW sensors. In this paper, ultra-thin Al2O3 layers prepared by atomic layer deposition (ALD) and RF magnetron sputtering were used to protect SAW devices with platinum (Pt) electrodes and their temperature stability was studied systematically. The devices were thermally treated up to 1150 °C in air, the real-time resistance of Pt resistive tracks with a sputtering Al2O3 protective layer showed much better and improved thermal stability than those without or with an ALD Al2O3 protective layer. Microstructure characterizations showed that the superior temperature stability is attributed to its mixture of amorphous and nano-crystalline nature of the Al2O3 layer deposited by sputtering and full recrystallization at high temperatures. SAW devices with a sputtering Al2O3 protective layer after 1150 °C treatment maintained almost unchanged properties, while those with an ALD Al2O3 protective layer failed to work. Investigation also indicated there exists an optimal thickness for the sputtering Al2O3 layer to achieve best performance and thermal-stability for the SAW devices. Besides, the deposition rate of Al2O3 layer by sputtering is 10 times faster than that by ALD. All the results demonstrate that the sputtering Al2O3 protective layer is more suitable for high temperature SAW device applications owing to its lower cost, higher deposition rate and temperature stability.

Background The quadrivalent human papillomavirus (qHPV; HPV6/11/16/18) vaccine was approved for use in Chinese women aged 20–45 years in 2017. This Phase 3, open-label study (NCT03493542) aimed to assess immunogenicity and safety of the qHPV vaccine in Chinese girls aged 9–19 years versus Chinese young women aged 20–26 years; we report results from Day 1 through Month 7. The study will continue through Month 60 to assess antibody persistence in Chinese girls aged 9–19 years. Methods Participants aged 9–26 years received three doses of the qHPV vaccine (Day 1, Month 2, Month 6). Geometric mean titers (GMTs) and seroconversion percentages for anti-HPV6/11/16/18 antibodies were determined by competitive Luminex immunoassay (cLIA) in serum samples obtained on Day 1 and at Month 7. Injection-site adverse events (AEs) and systemic AEs within 30 days post-vaccination, and serious AEs (SAEs) occurring at any time during the study, were recorded. Results In total, 766 participants (383 aged 9–19 years; 383 aged 20–26 years) were enrolled and received ≥1 vaccine dose. All participants in the per-protocol immunogenicity population of both age groups seroconverted to each of the vaccine HPV types at Month 7. Anti-HPV6/11/16/18 antibody GMTs at Month 7 in participants aged 9–19 years were non-inferior to those in participants aged 20–26 years. Injection-site AEs and systemic AEs were reported by 36.6% and 49.3% of 9–19-year-olds, and 40.7% and 54.8% of 20–26-year-olds, respectively. There were no vaccine-related SAEs. No participants discontinued the vaccine due to an AE and no deaths were reported. Conclusion Antibody responses induced by the 3-dose qHPV vaccination regimen in Chinese girls aged 9–19 years were non-inferior to those in Chinese young women aged 20–26 years. As a high-sensitivity magnetic sensor, the magnetic head has been gradually applied to non-destructive testing. Compared with the single coil and the coil with an iron core, the magnetic core can converge the weak leakage magnetic field because it can form a magnetic circuit to transmit the leakage field to the coil wound thereon. So that it has a higher sensitivity. However, in practical applications, it’s found that the pose error of the head affects its sensitivity. Therefore, this paper analyzes the influence of the tilt of the head on the magnetic core’s ability to sense leakage magnetic field, and then the influence is verified by simulations and experiments. The study finds that, when tilted around two horizontal axes, the larger the tilt angle is, the larger the signal is. When tilted around the vertical axis, the larger the tilt angle is, the smaller the signal is.

To control seasonal influenza epidemics in elders, a quadrivalent, inactivated, split-virion influenza vaccine (IIV4) comprising A and B lineages is produced for young individuals and adults aged ≥60 years. In this phase III, randomized, double-blind, active-controlled trial, we compared safety and immunogenicity of IIV4 with a licensed quadrivalent inactivated vaccine (IIV4-HL) produced by Hualan Biological Engineering during the 2019 influenza season. Participants were randomly assigned to receive IIV4 (n = 959) or IIV4-HL (n = 959). Compared to IIV4-HL, geometric mean titers (GMT) of hemagglutination inhibition (HAI) titers and seroconversion rate (SCR) of IIV4 demonstrated better antibody responses in A lineages (H1N1 and H3N2) (P .01) in both age groups. After immunization, IIV4 provided a satisfactory SCR and seroprotection rate (SPR) in elders. No discernible variation in immunogenicity was observed between the two age cohorts. In both age groups, IIV4 and IIV4-HL recipients experienced similar levels of solicited and unsolicited adverse events (AEs), and the incidence of AEs was low in both vaccine groups. Most AEs were of mild-to-moderate severity and no grade 3 AEs in IIV4 group, but AEs in adults aged 60-65 were little higher than in adults over 65 years in IIV4 and IIV4-HL groups (IIV4: 14.66% vs. 10.36%; IIV4-HL:14.67% vs. 11.43%). Totally, IIV4 was generally well tolerated and induced high antibody titers against all four influenza strains in elderly, making it a compelling alternative for the elderly aged ≥60 years.Trial registration: Clinical Trials.gov: 2015L00649-2.

Background This study tested the hypothesis that the immunogenicity and safety of the simultaneous administration of enterovirus 71 (EV71) vaccine (dose 1) with recombinant hepatitis B vaccine (HepB) on day 1 and EV71 vaccine (dose 2) with group A meningococcal polysaccharide vaccine (MenA) on day 30 is not inferior to separate administration of each vaccine. Methods The study was designed as a randomized, open-label, noninferiority trial. A total of 775 healthy infants aged 6 months were randomly assigned in a ratio of 1:1:1 to receive simultaneous administration of EV71 vaccine (dose 1) and HepB on day 1 and EV71 vaccine (dose 2) and MenA on day 30 (the SI group); administration of doses 1 and 2 of EV71 vaccine on days 1 and 30, respectively (the SE1 group); or administration of HepB and MenA on days 1 and 30, respectively (the SE2 group). Results According to the per protocol set, antibody responses against EV71, hepatitis B virus (HBV), and group A meningococcal polysaccharide were similar regardless of administration schedule. With the non-inferiority margin setting at 10%, the seroconversion rates of the three pathogens in the SI group (100% [98.25, 100], 44.84% [38.20, 51.63] and 27.83% [21.91, 34.38]) were not inferior to those in SE1 or SE2 group (100% [98.31, 100], 44.35% [37.82, 51.02] and 29.17% [23.20, 35.72], respectively). Frequencies of adverse reactions to each vaccination regimen were comparable (60.62% in the SI group vs 52.33% in the SE1 group and 56.98% in the SE2 group; P = .16). Conclusions Simultaneous administration of combined EV71 vaccine with HepB and MenA has noninferior immunogenicity and safety, compared with separate administration of these vaccines. Safe and effective vaccines are still urgently needed to cope with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Recently, we developed a recombinant COVID-19 vaccine (V-01) containing fusion protein (IFN-PADRE-RBD-Fc dimer) as antigen verified to induce protective immunity against SARS-CoV-2 challenge in pre-clinical study, which supported progression to Phase I clinical trials in humans. A Randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled Phase I clinical trial was initiated at the Guangdong Provincial Center for Disease Control and Prevention (Gaozhou, China) in February 2021. Healthy adults aged between 18 and 59 years and over 60 years were sequentially enrolled and randomly allocated into three subgroups (1:1:1) either to receive the vaccine (10, 25, and 50 μg) or placebo (V-01: Placebo = 4:1) intramuscularly with a 21-day interval by a sentinel and dose escalation design. The data showed a promising safety profile with approximately 25% vaccine-related overall adverse events (AEs) within 30 days and no grade 3 or worse AEs. Besides, V-01 provoked rapid and strong immune responses, elicited substantially high-titre neutralizing antibodies and anti-RBD IgG peaked at day 35 or 49 after first dose, presented with encouraging immunogenicity at low dose (10 μg) subgroup and elderly participants, which showed great promise to be used as all-aged (18 and above) vaccine against COVID-19. Taken together, our preliminary findings indicate that V-01 is safe and well tolerated, capable of inducing rapid and strong immune responses, and warrants further testing in Phase II/III clinical trials.

Low-voltage-triggered silicon-controlled rectifier (LVTSCR) is expected to provide an electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection for a low-voltage integrated circuit. However, it is normally vulnerable to the latch-up effect due to its extremely low holding voltage. In this paper, a novel LVTSCR embedded with an extra p-type MOSFET called EP-LVTSCR has been proposed and verified in a 28-nm CMOS technology. The proposed device possesses a lower trigger voltage of ~ 6.2 V and a significantly higher holding voltage of ~ 5.5 V with only 23% degradation of the failure current under the transmission line pulse test. It is also shown that the EP-LVTSCR operates with a lower turn-on resistance of ~ 1.8 Ω as well as a reliable leakage current of ~ 1.8 nA measured at 3.63 V, making it suitable for ESD protections in 2.5 V/3.3 V CMOS processes. Moreover, the triggering mechanism and conduction characteristics of the proposed device were explored and demonstrated with TCAD simulation.

Background: Peripheral artery disease (PAD) is underrecognized, undertreated, and understudied: each of these endeavors requires efficient and accurate identification of patients with PAD. Currently, PAD patient identification relies on diagnosis/procedure codes or lists of patients diagnosed or treated by specific providers in specific locations and ways. The goal of this research was to leverage natural language processing to more accurately identify patients with PAD in an electronic health record system compared with a structured data–based approach. Methods: The clinical notes from a cohort of 6861 patients in our health system whose PAD status had previously been adjudicated were used to train, test, and validate a natural language processing model using 10-fold cross-validation. The performance of this model was described using the area under the receiver operating characteristic and average precision curves; its performance was quantitatively compared with an administrative data–based least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) approach using the DeLong test. Results: The median (SD) of the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve for the natural language processing model was 0.888 (0.009) versus 0.801 (0.017) for the LASSO-based approach alone (DeLong P Conclusions: Using a natural language processing approach in addition to partial cohort preprocessing with a LASSO-based model, we were able to meaningfully improve our ability to identify patients with PAD compared with an approach using structured data alone. This model has potential applications to both interventions targeted at improving patient care as well as efficient, large-scale PAD research. The mechanism of widely applied magnetizing-based eddy current testing (MB-ECT) sensor for ferromagnetic materials is simply emphasized by “the magnetization eliminates the non-uniformity of the permeability and increases the penetration depth”, resulting in rough application for non-destructive testing (NDT). Hence, the neglected permeability distortion around the surface crack is pointed out and analyzed at different magnetization states. In this paper, the multi-source effect of MB-ECT method is analyzed using the equivalent source method. The disturbed magnetic field source is actually composed of the primary magnetic leakage field, secondary disturbed magnetic field caused by the crack itself and the permeability distortion around the crack. Furthermore, the influence of the magnetizing current and the probe lift-off are investigated by finite element analysis (FEA). The simulation result shows “concave” feature as a consequence of the permeability distortion. A series of experiments are designed to analyze the dominant signal components under different conditions. The magnetizing current selection in MB-ECT method corresponds to a unique shape while plotting the signal amplitude as a function of the magnetizing current and lift-off of the probe. This study reveals the multi-source effect in the mechanism of MB-ECT sensors and provides the basic theory or analysis principles for the precision crack evaluation.

Motivation Modern bioinformatics tools for analyzing large-scale NGS datasets often need to include fast implementations of core sequence alignment algorithms in order to achieve reasonable execution times. We address this need by presenting the BGSA toolkit for optimized implementations of popular bit-parallel global pairwise alignment algorithms on modern microprocessors. Results BGSA outperforms Edlib, SeqAn and BitPAl for pairwise edit distance computations and Parasail, SeqAn and BitPAl when using more general scoring schemes for pairwise alignments of a batch of sequence reads on both standard multi-core CPUs and Xeon Phi many-core CPUs. Furthermore, banded edit distance performance of BGSA on a Xeon Phi-7210 outperforms the highly optimized NVBio implementation on a Titan X GPU for the seed verification stage of a read mapper by a factor of 4.4. In this study, we used three popular data mining techniques (decision trees, artificial neural networks and support vector machine) to analyze the risk factors of medical expense of patients with hepatitis A in Guangdong Province in 2008. We compared the three methods to find out an effective method to predict medical expense and extract main influence factors of the medical expense. The results showed that support vector machine is the most accurate predictor.

Double-layered surface textures of ITO/AZO (In 2 O 3 :Sn/ZnO:Al) and AZO/AZO transparent conductive films are conducted with a process of deposition, first-etching, re-deposition and re-etching. Light trapping ability can be greatly reinforced by the induced double broad feature distributions. For the re-etching process, stronger etching pits with 400–600 nm feature sizes and ~68 nm Root Mean Square (RMS) roughness are obtained in AZO/AZO films compared to that of the first-etching samples. The use of Fe(III) catalyst can greatly increase the etching rate. Diffuse transmittance with the largest value (56.97%) is observed for the double-layered AZO–HCl/AZO–HCl+FeCl 3 sample due to the formation of crater-like morphology in the mezzanine and the surface of the films. The double-textured AZO samples exhibit higher haze values (50.73% and 55.50%) at 550 nm, corresponding to the AZO/AZO samples using HCl+FeCl 3 or HCl alternately. For ITO related samples, the resistivity keeps the order of 10 −4 Ω cm after the re-deposition. While, for AZO/AZO films, a slight increment of resistivity and carrier concentration is observed due to the chemical etching. These double-textured structures imply that the films have potential application in thin film silicon (TFS) solar cells for light trapping.

The purpose of this paper is to analyze theoretical distance resolution of signal intensity values from routers, and to give the accuracy of indoor positioning based on Wi Fi under the condition of fingerprint algorithm. This paper firstly carried out single point experiment (Experiment 1) and distance experiment (Experiment 2) to acquire theoretical distance resolution of signal intensity values from routers. Based on plenty of experimental data, this paper proposed "twice standard deviation data elimination algorithm" to eliminate gross error. Finally, carried on Experiment 3 to measure the accuracy of indoor positioning based on Wi Fi under the condition of fingerprint algorithm. Figure 4 and figure 5 shows the conclusion of theoretical distance resolution of signal intensity values from routers. The chapter of "CONCLUSION" summarizes all conclusions.

Herpes zoster (HZ) exists widely in China and most cases occur among old people, but no epidemiology information of HZ was available. We aimed to investigate the epidemiology characteristics of HZ among adults aged 50 and over in Guangdong, China. A total of 34 counties/districts were randomly selected in Guangdong, and 7149 residents aged 50 and over were investigated by local CDC professionals using accidental sampling method. There were 247 respondents having had HZ before; the lifetime prevalence of HZ among people aged 50 and above in study area was 3.46%. The prevalence in females was higher than that in males. Pearl River Delta had the highest prevalence (5.29%), while Northern Guangdong had the lowest (1.87%). The annual incidence in the year 2013, 2012 and 2011 was 5.8, 3.4 and 4.1 per 1000 person-years, respectively. Detailed investigation of HZ cases showed that all cases meted the definition of HZ and had at least 1 typical symptom. 40% cases had suffered post-herpetic neuralgia. 75.9% cases had sought aid from hospital and 9.1% of them had been hospitalized. People who sought aid from hospital had more serious level of neuralgia. The epidemiology features of HZ in Guangdong were consistent with the current findings in other countries. The results of this study can provide baseline epidemiology information of HZ for further studies.
