Aberrant T cell activation is a major cause of aplastic anemia (AA) pathogenesis. Recent studies have shown that miRNAs regulate T cell activation and are involved in AA. A previous study found that miR-214 was significantly up-regulated upon T cell activation in a CD28-dependent fashion by targeting PTEN. However, the expression characteristics of miR-214 and its target genes in AA have not been defined. In this study, target genes for miR-214 were predicted and confirmed by bioinformatics and luciferase reporter assays. The expression levels of miR-214 and target genes were detected in 36 healthy individuals and 35 patients with AA in peripheral blood mononuclear cells by real-time quantitative reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction. Bioinformatics and luciferase reporter assays identified that miR-214 could bind to the A20 3′ untranslated regions. Significantly increased miR-214 and the decreased A20 expression level were detected in the AA patients compared with the healthy group. In addition, significantly increased miR-214 was found in non-severe aplastic anemia compared with severe aplastic anemia patients. These results suggested that the A20 gene was a potential target of miR-214, and elevated miR-214 might medicate T cell activation at least in part by regulating A20 expression in AA. We firstly confirmed that miR-214 regulated A20 expression, and aberrant miR-214/A20 expression might contribute to immunopathology in AA. The miR-214 expression might be used as a potential biomarker that assisted in diagnosing AA severity.

Ordos Basin, a huge intracontinental depression, influenced by Pacific structural domain together with Tethya, is formed during Mesozoic Era. Evolutional process of the depression can be divided into four epoches Early Jurassic to early period of Middle Jurassic, Middle Jurassic, Late Jurassic and Early Cretaceous, of which, Early Jurassic to early period of Middle Jurassic is an important coal – accumulating period Coal-accumulating area, as a ring is distributed round subsidence centre of the basin, and in which numbers, thickness and change regularity of seam vary with different position of the basin. It is showed by tectonics and depositional analysis that the east boundary of the basin is situated to the east of Datong to Yima, and that perfect match of tectonic turning period with palaeoclimate in favour of formation for plant remains to a great extent is an essential factor controlling formation of the seam.

In this paper, face liveness detection method which is based on very short video is proposed. Firstly, spatial and temporal video processing is performed by using Eulerian video magnification. Next, the matching pairs between frames are extracted from the original video. Then, the paper constructs the feature histogram from the color difference between two pixels according to SIFT matching pairs. Finally, we use SVM classifier to determine the liveness of the subject. The experimental results show that the detection accuracy is 95% and the liveness detection can be completed in less than one second without any specific user action.

The bag of visual words (BOW) model has been widely applied in the field of image recognition and image classification. However, all scale-invariant feature transform (SIFT) features are clustered to construct the visual words which result in a substantial loss of discriminative power for the visual words. The corresponding visual phrases will further render the generated BOW histogram sparse. In this study, the authors aim to improve the classification accuracy by extracting high discriminative SIFT features and feature pairs. First, high discriminative SIFT features are extracted with the within- and between-class correlation coefficients. Second, the high discriminative SIFT feature pairs are selected by using minimum spanning tree and its total cost. Next, high discriminative SIFT features and feature pairs are exploited to construct the visual word dictionary and visual phrase dictionary, respectively, which are concatenated to a joint histogram with different weights. Compared with the state-of-the-art BOW-based methods, the experimental results on Caltech 101 dataset show that the proposed method has higher classification accuracy.

The traditional SIFT method is capable of extracting distinctive feature for image matching. However, it is extremely time consuming in the SIFT matching due to the use of Euclidean distance measure. Recently, several binary SIFT (BSIFT) methods have been developed to improve the matching efficiency, whereas merely image brightness information is involved in these algorithms. The matching performance will drop because of the lack of the color information of the image. This paper presents a binary SIFT matching method combined with the color and exposure information. First, three components, including luminance, color offset and exposure offset are combined together to express the image pixel. Then, 128-D SIFT descriptor is converted into 256-bit binarized SIFT descriptor. Finally, the improved Hamming distance is proposed in the matching procedure. Experimental results on UKBench dataset show that the proposed method not only ensures the matching speed, but also improves matching accuracy.

The traditional scale invariant feature transform (SIFT) method can extract distinctive features for image matching. However, it is extremely time-consuming in SIFT matching because of the use of the Euclidean distance measure. Recently, many binary SIFT (BSIFT) methods have been developed to improve matching efficiency; however, none of them is invariant to mirror reflection. To address these problems, in this paper, we present a horizontal or vertical mirror reflection invariant binary descriptor named MBR-SIFT, in addition to a novel image matching approach. First, 16 cells in the local region around the SIFT keypoint are reorganized, and then the 128-dimensional vector of the SIFT descriptor is transformed into a reconstructed vector according to eight directions. Finally, the MBR-SIFT descriptor is obtained after binarization and reverse coding. To improve the matching speed and accuracy, a fast matching algorithm that includes a coarse-to-fine two-step matching strategy in addition to two similarity measures for the MBR-SIFT descriptor are proposed. Experimental results on the UKBench dataset show that the proposed method not only solves the problem of mirror reflection, but also ensures desirable matching accuracy and speed.

Objective: Reaching women in rural China is one of the major public health problem today and even though various methodologies were introduced they had limited or no success. The goal of our study was to investigate the usefulness of DNA quantitative assessment (ploidy) in comparison with conventional cytology (LBC) and HPV testing and its possible role in the clinical practice for rural women. Methods: In collaboration with Shanxi Women and Children Health Center we finished a study in Shanxi Province (3300 women) using Image cytometer. Each women underwent HPV testing, liquid based cytology screening (LBC) using manual and semi-automated analysis based on DNA ploidy and EA50 staining (on the same slide). All positive cases by any method were invited for colposcopy and biopsy. Results: Our results showed that DNA ploidy in combination with EA50 have superior performance in comparison with LBC or HPV method. Conclusion: Automated combined qualitative and quantitative image cytometry is a very good candidate for screening in low resource settings in China where the conventional cytology or LBC reading cannot be performed due to the lack of adequate infrastructure and trained cytotechnologists or cytopathologists. Furthermore digitalization of images open a door for data transfer and cloud computing which in turn can improve access to proper medical care in rural China.

Over the past decade the development of AI stimulated many application domains including robotics which combines multiple subjects and techniques. Humanoid robot becomes one of the research focuses because of its difficulty such as the limitation of cognition on environment and itself, the large number DOFs and the under-actuation. In fact there is still a long distance from its theoretical research to practical application. With regard of this, a state of the art autonomous soccer humanoid robot CU-legendary was designed and developed in this paper with the consideration of its mechanical optimal design, electrical system design, sensor configuration and software architecture design. The proposed robot team has taken first place on 2018 RoboCup China Open Competition, the goal of which is humanoid robots being able to win against the official human World Soccer Champion team by year of 2050.

When the mine disaster or other emergency occurs, how to inform the rescue center on ground quickly in order to it take measures to emergency rescue, is one of the hot issues of the research of communication technology in coal mine. The transmission characteristics of ZigBee technology are used to design the emergency communication system based on ZigBee technology in coal mine. It is the reference for the design of emergency communication system in coal mine.

In pulse compression radar system, the Keystone transform is often employed to correct the range migration, which is induced by the fact that the coherent integration time is relatively long or target echo speed is relatively high. In absence of Doppler ambiguity, the above method can be performed well, however, if the Doppler ambiguity occurs, it is usually required to resolve the ambiguous number. Instead of it, in this paper, the calibrating while estimating (CWE) approach is proposed by using the relationship, which the more accurate the ambiguous number is estimated, the value of mean square error smaller, and the range migration is corrected more accurately. The proposed method can be operated iteratively without the prior knowledge of ambiguous number. However, it cost a large amount of computation resulted from the Keystone transform. Finally, several numerical simulations are designed to verify its effectiveness.
