The application of large-capacity ultra-high voltage direct current (UHVDC) transmission greatly improves the large-scale resource allocation capability, while also increases the complexity of security and stability control of the power grid. With the wide application of cross-region DC control strategies such as DC frequency control and power emergency support, the determination of DC control strategies must consider the influence of DC power changes on the stability of the sending and receiving end power grids. After analyzing the defects of existing control strategies for high power loss accidents, a coordinated control strategy is proposed that utilizes a variety of control resources in the entire power grid after the DC blocking happened, as well as considering the dynamic coupling characteristics of the DC sending and receiving end power grids. The actual power grid simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed control strategy.

The novel coronavirus (2019‐nCoV) was first detected in patients with pneumonia of an unknown cause in Wuhan, China in December 2019. It has since been confirmed as the pathogen for the new coronavirus pneumonia, recently named “coronavirus disease 2019” (COVID‐19) by the World Health Organization. Although the general population is commonly susceptible to the disease, infected elderly people show fast progression and severe manifestations with a high proportion in critical condition as a result of compromised immunity and underlying diseases. In order to improve the quality of nursing, reduce complications, and decrease mortality of critically ill elderly patients, we assembled a national expert group with expertise in critical nursing to write this consensus, based on a literature review and a subsequent panel discussion. The consensus covers the assessment, clinical nursing, discharge care, and other aspects of care for critically ill elderly patients with COVID‐19, aiming to share insights and provide guidance for clinical practice.

Atmospheric ducts are horizontal layers that occur under certain weather conditions in the lower atmosphere. Radio signals guided in atmospheric ducts tend to experience less attenuation and spread much farther, i.e, hundreds of kilometers. In a large-scale deployed TD-LTE (Time Division Long Term Evolution) network, atmospheric ducts cause faraway downlink wireless signals to propagate beyond the designed protection distance and interfere with local uplink signals, thus resulting in a large outage probability. In this paper, we analyze the characteristics of ADI atmospheric duct interference (Atmospheric Duct Interference) by the use of real network-side big data from the current operated TD-LTE network owned by China Mobile. The analysis results yield the time varying and directional characteristics of ADI. In addition, we proposed an SVM (Support Vector Machine)-classifier based spacial prediction method of ADI by machine learning over combination of real network-side big data and real meteorological data. Furthermore, an implementation of ADMM (Alternating Direction Methods of Multipliers) framework is proposed to implement a distributed SVM prediction scheme, which reduces data exchange among different regions/cities, maintains similar prediction accuracy and is thus of a more practical use to operators.

This paper presents the results of an experimental investigation of L-shaped columns composed of concrete-filled steel tubes (LCFST columns) connected by steel linking plates. As a new kind of composite column, the fundamental structural behavior of LCFST columns connected by steel linking plates is discussed in this paper. Eight large-scale LCFST columns were constructed and loaded under either concentric axial compression or biaxial eccentric compression up to failure. Slenderness ratio, thickness of the steel linking plates and load eccentricities were all studied within the experimental program. The relationships of load versus longitudinal displacement, lateral deflection at mid-height, longitudinal strain at mid-height etc. are presented. It is demonstrated that specimens with larger slenderness ratios or eccentricities have lower ultimate load capacities, as expected. It is also demonstrated that the steel connection plates, also as expected, have a considerable influence on confining lateral deflections of the mono CFST columns and that they significantly contribute to the columns' ultimate carrying capacity. Predictive formulas for calculating the ultimate loads of LCFST columns connected by steel linking plates are proposed based on modifications of the ANSI/AISC 360-05 guidelines.

Offshore wind power has become the focus of the world's renewable energy development. In Taiwan, several demonstration offshore wind turbines will be scheduled to be established by 2015, and more than 300MW capacity of offshore wind farm to be installed by 2020. As the penetration level of wind energy increases, more reliable protection systems for offshore wind farms are required. The wind farm protection system is usually divided into different protection zones including the wind farm area, wind farm collection system, wind farm interconnection system and the utility area. Different protective zones have different protection schemes and relay settings. This project has proposed an adaptive distance relay that protects submarine cables between an offshore wind farm and an AC grid. The double-circuit submarine cables that connect offshore wind farm in Penghu and Taiwan grid will be utilized as an example. First, the apparent impedance of the relay is mathematically derived using a detailed equivalent circuit model, and the characteristic trip boundaries of the relay in various scenarios are obtained. The nonlinear characteristics of the trip boundaries that are used in a typical distance relay with four protection zones will be discussed. Furthermore, the effects of the uncontrollable factors on the performance of a distance relay have been considered into the simulations. These system disturbances include wind speed variation, system short circuit faults, or system component failures. These case studies have been presented using the simulation package to evaluate the feasibility of the distance relay setting that is developed in this project.

ZnO/ZnS/CdS/CuInS2 core–shell nanowire arrays with enhanced photoelectrochemical activity under visible light were successfully prepared via ion exchange and hydrothermal methods. The samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, UV–vis absorption, X-ray photoemission spectroscopy, and photoelectrochemical response. As a p–n junction photoanode, ZnO/ZnS/CdS/CuInS2 heterostructure shows much higher visible light photoelectrocatalytic activity toward water splitting than ZnO/ZnS/CdS and ZnO/ZnS films. The ZnO/ZnS/CdS/CuInS2 film with optimal constitution exhibits the highest photocurrent of 10.5 mA/cm2 and the highest IPCE of approximately 57.7% at 480 nm and a bias potential of 0 V versus Ag/AgCl. The critical roles of CdS and ZnS in ZnO/ZnS/CdS/CuInS2 heterostructure were investigated. ZnS, as a passivation layer, suppresses the recombination of the photogenerated charge carriers at the interface of the oxide and CuInS2. CdS enhances the a...

Position and Orientation System (POS) is a technology widely used for motional error compensation of airborne InSAR. The measurement errors of inertial sensor (accelerometers and gyros) are the chief influencing factors to the precision of POS. In order to enhance the accuracy of POS, an improved SINS error model should be used in POS. In this paper, a more precise error model for SINS is developed by augmenting random walks error, first-order Markov process error, scale factor error and installation error. To validate the accuracy of the improved error model, semi physical flight simulation based on the imitation of imaging-flight route of InSAR is made to compare with the traditional SINS error model which only considering the random constant error. The simulation results show that the accuracy of the improved SINS error model is one order higher than the traditional SINS error model.

PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to build a theoretical framework that identifies the important skills for successful export from different business areas and make an empirical ranking of their importance.Design/methodology/approachA survey containing 88 practical export skills, selected from the existing literature, was sent to 800 Chinese exporting companies in major Eastern regions of China. With the factor analysis, eight skill categories were identified and 56 skills were found more important.FindingsThe results of the study show that in the higher export stage, skills in international marketing and international trade logistics were viewed as being more important. However, a firm in an early export stage showed more concerns on international trade policy and regulations, international finance and international trade research. Firms with rich export experience viewed strategic management in international trade as being more important than those with less export experience. International payment terms were considered to be very important by firms across all export stages. However, only these firms which were exploring the availability of export business viewed international trade practice as being somewhat important.Research limitations/implicationsFirst, the export skills pool should be extended and examined according to the firms' characteristics. Second, the study is cross‐sectional and there should be specific analysis of different exporting firms. Third, supplement of the study with more samples from other regions should provide more generalizable implications. Finally, another future work should be to examine how export skills affect financial performance of those Chinese exporting firms.Practical implicationsThis paper can serve as useful information for the exporting firms to improve their existing skill training programs. The skills importance rankings can also be used to guide the resource allocations.Originality/valueThis study builds a theoretical framework that identifies the important skills for successful export from different business areas and makes an empirical ranking of their importance based on the data of Chinese exporting firms.

A 60-year-old man presented with a 3-year history of painless soybean-like lump in the left hemiscrotum. Physical examination revealed a 2.5 cm tender, nonreducible, firm-to-hard lump palpable over the left spermatic cord. Ultrasonography showed that a well circumscribed 2.4 cm×2.2 cm solid lesion of with scattered blood flow signal was separate from the left testis and epididymis. Intraoperative frozen pathology indicated sarcoma, and thus left transinguinal radical orchidectomy and high ligation of the spermatic cord was performed. Definitive pathological diagnosis of this patient was the leiomyosarcoma of left spermatic cord and negative surgical margins. Due to no positive surgical margins, no lymphatic and distant metastasis, radiotherapy and chemotherapy was not recommended in this case. Based on the characteristics of guaranteed handover (GH) algorithm, the finite capacity in one system makes the blocking probability (PB) of GH algorithm increase rapidly in the case of high traffic load. So, when large amounts of multimedia services are transmitted via a single low earth orbit (LEO) satellite system, the PB of it is much higher. In order to solve the problem, a novel handover scheme defined by multi-tier optimal layer selection is proposed. The scheme sufficiently takes into account the characteristics of double-tier satellite network, which is constituted by LEO satellites combined with medium earth orbit (MEO) satellites, and the multimedia transmitted by such network, so it can augment this systematic capacity and effectively reduces the traffic load in the LEO which performs GH algorithm. The detailed processes are also presented. The simulation and numerical results show that the approach integrated with GH algorithm achieves a significant improvement in the PB and practicability, as compared to the single LEO layer network.

As an empirical study based on multiple linear regression analysis of the investigation data, this paper studies the communication between teachers and students in universities. It reveals that the interaction between university teachers and students promotes the personal development of college students. For some reason, however, a rather low level of communication is maintained between university teachers and students. Further, this paper indicates that male and female students gain differently from such limited interaction with their university teachers.

Proper orthogonal decomposition (POD) is proposed to decompose and reconstruct multidimensional electroencephalo-graph (EEG) signal. With this method, EEG signal can be represented by orthonomal basis, eigenfuction mode and main coordinate component. The eigenfuction mode is deterministic functions of spatial information, and the main coordinate component is the random function of real time information. In this modal decomposition way, EEG signal can not only be compressed in a certain least squares optimal sense, but also be predicted for any random scalp position.

This research aimed at observing the effects of different combinations of prescription ofinvigorate blood and diffuse Bi formula (IBDB) on resisting myocardial ischemic injury and adjusting blood lipid to seek for the best combination for IBDB. The research used the model of hyperlipidemia rats with isoproterenol-induced myocardial ischemic injury and treated by gavage with 8 different combinations of IBDB using orthogonal design to observe the effects of different combinations on electrocardiogram (ECG), heart function, Superoxide dismutase (SOD), malondialdehyde (MDA) and total antioxidation capacity (T-AOC) of serum and myocardium and blood lipid of acute ischemia and thus find out the best combination with mathematical method. The result indicated that different combinations of IBDB could protect ischemic myocardium and the heart function of rats and directly work against myocardial injury and adjust blood lipid at different levels. Comparison between all treated groups suggests that the 7th, 6th and 3rd combinations are superior than the 4th and 5th in improving ECG (P

Based on China's A-share listed manufacturing companies' data for 2002–2007, used marketization indexes of various regions of China compiled by Fan Gang etc. to construct corporate governance environment, we study the relationship between governance environment, cash holdings and performance empirically. We find that cash holdings have a positive influence on performance, which seems more apparent in the poor governance environment regions. In the good governance environment regions, cash held by non-state companies has a greater impact on performance relative to the state-owned companies.

In the replacing market, diffusion of information product is influenced by users' interaction and cooperating function between the complementary software and hardware. Therefore, this paper creates the direct network effect function which is based on the interpersonal relationship, and the indirect network effect function which is composed by the utility of the software and hardware. Based on the scale-free social network and the economic analysis of network effect, as well as the decision-making transfer function, this paper simulates the microcosmic diffusion process upon the user's utility. The simulation result demonstrates: Due to the network effect, it will appear the phenomenon that old and new product will coexist in the replacing market. The number of initial subscribers and the interaction plays important part in the takeoff time and amount of diffusion. After the takeoff threshold, the indirect network effect determines the market share of the new product.

Bearing capacity of concrete-filled steel tubular (CFT) column under axial loading is studied by ANSYS procedures. Firstly, ultimately bearing capacity of CFT column is calculated using model of solid element. In order to expedite computed speed, model of beam-link element is proposed. Then the load-bearing capacity obtained from model of solid element and the model of beam-link element is well consistent with that of the test, which verifies the feasibility of the model of beam-link element. Parameter analysis of special-shaped column composed of concrete filled square steel tube (SCFT) is studied using model of beam-link element. Then the difficulty of parameter analysis of SCFT is resolved. Finally, one SCFT column is simulated by model of beam-link element and MIDAS model, good agreement is obtained.

Primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT) is characterized by inappropriate secretion of parathyroid hormone (PTH). The proportion of PHPT with asymptomatic or nontypical symptoms is continuously increasing. PHPT typically affects elderly women, and it is characterized by few symptoms or complications. We explored a case of a 77-year-old woman with previously undiagnosed PHPT who presented first with palpitation and chest distress, and then had the symptoms of intractable nausea and vomiting. The initial laboratory investigations revealed normal calcium levels. Further examination showed serum calcium and PTH were elevated. In order to attach importance to PHPT in asymptomatic patients or patients with nontypical symptoms, related literature was reviewed. Finally the methods of treatment of PHPT in elderly patients were discussed.

Keloids and hypertrophic scars are significant symptomatic clinical problems characterized by the excessive and abnormal deposition of collagen-based extracellular matrix (ECM) components. However, the molecular basis of keloid and hypertrophic scar formation has not been fully elucidated. Here, we demonstrated that down-regulation of the transcription factor Smad interacting protein 1 (SIP1) could be relevant to keloid and hypertrophic scar formation. The results of the present study show that the level of SIP1 mRNA is significantly decreased in pathological scar tissues and in normal skin and pathological scar fibroblasts treated with transforming growth factor β1 (TGF-β1). In contrast, the expression of SIP1 mRNA is not decreased in normotrophic scar samples. The SIP1 mRNA level inversely correlates with the mRNA level of type I collagen (COL1A2) and directly correlates with the mRNA level of matrix metalloproteinase-1 (MMP1). Overexpression of SIP1 in keloid and hypertrophic scar fibroblasts represses TGF-β1-stimulated COL1A2 expression and induces MMP1 expression. Alternatively, knockdown of SIP1 in normal skin fibroblasts enhance TGF-β1-induced COL1A2 levels. These findings suggest that SIP1 could be a regulator of skin fibrosis, and depletion of SIP1 in pathological scar tissues could result in an up-regulation of collagen and down-regulation of matrix metalloproteinase, leading to an abnormal accumulation of ECM along with fibrosis and pathological scar formation.

Malware is becoming a worldwide epidemic. Artificial Immune System is a self-adaptive method for malware detection. However the scalability and coverage problems reduced the detection efficiency of an Artificial Immune System. In order to solve these problems, this paper proposed a model called Collaborative Artificial Immune System. In this model, independent immune bodies in different computers were organized by a virtual structure called Immune Collaborative Body. Immune bodies could share detectors with each other, in order to improve the detection efficiency. A collaborative module was added in every immune body for communication and coordination. The architecture of Immune Collaborative Body and collaborative module were expressed as pseudocode in this paper.

In today's ultra-competitive and complicated business environment, sponsorship is a significant marketing communications strategy for building brands. And an increasing number of sponsors and sport entities refer to one another as partners. Modern sponsors now recognize the strategic role of sponsorship and the great potential for creating value from a longer-term relationship. In this study, text mining was adopted to dig the marketing-related competencies required for the success of sponsor-sport entity relationship. Source texts were collected from 2147 documents, and the models 'text extraction' and 'association analysis' were conducted to understand the relationships. The findings indicated that there is an imbalance between sponsors' motives for investment and sport entities' expectations about sponsors' performance. So collaborative capabilities should be developed to manage the relationships, meanwhile, these two partners should try to marry their two brands in the mind of their target markets. The results also emphasized sport entities' proactive role in sponsorship relationships.

In today's ultra-competitive and complicated business environment, sponsorship is a significant marketing communications strategy for building brands. An increasing number of companies seek to enter the Olympic marketing platform through sponsorship. However, little is known about the evaluation and measurement criteria for selecting Olympic sponsors. In this study, we found 1091 relevant documents through Internet. Based on text mining, we finally extracted and summarized five key criteria. And then we used a case (Coca-Cola Company) to verify the results we got by using text mining and to help us better understand the criteria applied in the process of selecting Olympic sponsors. The findings indicated that companies should develop some marketing-related competencies and formulate correct marketing strategy so as to enter the Olympic markets effectively and achieve favorable publicity for their brands.

The idea behind Lempel-Ziv (LZ) data compression algorithm and Yacobi fast exponentiation algorithm is investigated. Also based on the fulfillment of the fast cascade exponentiation algorithm, a novel method is proposed to obtain rational tradeoff between memory size and fast computing speed by modifying the process of creating compression tree in Yacobi algorithm. The analysis shows that this new algorithm is suitable for fast computation in embedded encryption systems.
