A comparison is made between the land administration systems in Spain and Colombia, examining the various organizations that have responsibilities in cartography, cadastre, and property registration. A brief introduction to each organization is provided. Subsequently, to facilitate a general comparison of the main differences and similarities, aspects such as the ministry affiliation, primary purpose, management type, age of legislation, basic management unit, type of registration, scales, continuity of geographic information, data protection policy, valuation, etc., are studied. In the case of Spain, the key national organizations involved are the National Geographic Institute (IGN), the Directorate General for Cadastre (DGC), and the Spanish Land and Trade Registrars Association (CORPME). In Colombia, the Agustín Codazzi Geographic Institute (IGAC) and the National Land Agency (ANT) and the Superintendencia de Notariao y Registro (SNR), as well as the group of more than 45 cadastral managers authorized at the sub-national level, etc. Finally, the lack of land security in Colombia is explained by the lack of a good cadastre.
