The article discusses a study which investigated the impact of adjudication on identifying hospitals with possible deficiencies in the quality of percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) care. To predict patient-specific in-hospital mortality, logistic regression models were used. Results showed that 12.4% of patients who died after PCI had a lower predicted mortality with adjudicated than with unadjudicated data. In addition, risk-standardized mortality rates were similar using unadjudicated and adjudicated data.
