The present work was carried out in 26 clinical cases of cattle with traumatic pericarditis. The animals were divided into four groups. Selection, anaesthetic preparation and position of cattle during thoracotomy in cattle with traumatic pericarditis under general anaesthesia with IPPV is reported. The results of the study revealed that body weight and age of the cattle had no influence on the anaesthetic protocol. Right lateral recumbency during anaesthesia was found convenient to perform left fifth rib resection thoracotomy in all the animals. The present work was designed to study the electrocardiography in cattle with traumatic pericarditis. In electrocardiography reading the PR and QRS complex duration in all the groups were normal when compared to healthy cows.
