Abstract

The article presents a study which attempts to determine the mechanism of chromosomal packaging based on the unique centromere region of Saccharomyces cerevisiae. It states that the study isolated the HCH6 mutant and that the efficiencies of recombinations in chromosomal target points were monitored. It reveals that site-specific recombination was decreased by the introduction of the SSD1 gene in HCH6 cells and increased by the disruption of SSD1 in wild-type cells.
