Widely utilized in the chemical industry and agriculture, hydrazine is easily absorbed by living things and can cause physical harm when in touch for an extended period of time. As a result, a novel cinnamaldehyde chalcone C5 was produced by Friedel Crafts process and aldol condensation reaction. Triphenylamine was used as the raw material for hydrazine determination in both reactions. Chalcone C5 exhibits significant AIE behavior in a mixed mixture of ethanol and water in addition to having great selectivity and a low detection limit (0.119 nm) for hydrazine. The solvent effect test revealed a linear relationship between the Stokes shift of C5 in the solvent and the rise in solvent orientation polarization. It is important to note that C5 is not harmful to MCF-7 cells, mouse kidney cells, or pig kidney cells. Furthermore, research on cell imaging has demonstrated that probe C5 may be utilized to image the fluorescence of hydrazine in active MCF-7 cells. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Two triphenylamine chalcone derivatives 1 and 2 were synthesized through the Vilsmeier-Haack reaction and Claisen-Schmidt condensation reaction. Through ultraviolet absorption spectroscopy and fluorescence emission spectroscopy experiments, it was confirmed that these two compounds exhibited good aggregation-induced emission (AIE) behavior in ethanol/water mixtures. The solvent effect test showed with the increase of the orientation polarizability of the solvent, the Stokes shift in the solvent of compound 1 and compound 2 shows a linear change trend. Through solid state fluorescence test and universal density function theory (DFT), the existence of π-π stacking interaction in the solid state of the compound has been studied, resulting in weak fluorescence emission. pH has no effect on the fluorescence intensity of the aggregate state of excited state intramolecular proton transfer (ESIPT) molecules in an acidic environment, but greatly weakens its fluorescence intensity in an alkaline environment. Cyclic voltammetry (CV) test shows that compound 1 was more prone to oxidation reaction than compound 2. The results of thermal stability test show that the thermal stability of compound 1 was better than that of compound 2, indicating that triphenylamine chalcone derivatives can improve the thermal stability of compounds by increasing the number of branches. Five naphthalene-type chalcone organogelators with different hydrophobic alkyl units, were designed and synthesized. The prepared organogelators demonstrated excellent gel properties in some selected solvents, such as cyclohexane, tert -Butanol, isooctane, and isopropanol etc. The results for thermal stability showed that the alkyl chain length attached to the chalcone also had an important influence on the gelation behavior. Under identical concentrations increasing the length of alkyl chains of the gel molecules and then the gel-to-sol transition temperature value is increased too. It has found that the hydrogen bonding between molecules, the van der Waals force and the π-π stacking provide multiple driving forces for gel self-assembly using various techniques. The morphology of the xerogel was investigated by Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM). As the length of the carbon chain increases, the dry gel tends to form a lamellar network structure. Oil spillage and water pollution are serious environmental disasters, which have a serious impact on the economy and ecosystem. To protect the environment，we have synthesized a new type of chalcone derivative (G1) gel. G1 can form gels in many organic solvents, fuels and edible oils. The FT-IR, SEM and XRD studies show that there are π-π stacking, Van der Waals and intermolecular H bonding force in the G1 gel self-assembly process. 3D networks structure provides a strong basis for the adsorption of dyes and the adsorption efficiency could be as high as 97.2%. The G1 can selectively gel in organic water pollutants, with recyclability. Even in the presence of salt, acid and alkali, it can be successfully used to recover spilled oil from oil-water mixture. • A series noval chalcone derivatives (G b1–6) as gel factors were successfully synthesized. • The gels can be used for the stimulation response of hydrazine hydrate. • The gels can be used to identify fuel adulteration. • The gels can be used to recovery of spilled oil from oil-water mixtures. A series of novel naphthalene-chalcone gelators, G b1–6 , with different alkyl units, were designed and synthesized as potential low molecular weight gelators. The prepared gelators demonstrated gelation behavior in various organic solvents and fuel phases. The results indicated that the alkyl chains played a significant role in the gelation behavior of the gelators. The thermal stability results revealed that, at the same concentration, an increase in the length of the alkyl chains of the gelators led to an increase in the gel-sol transition temperature. The gelators were subjected to FT-IR, SEM, and XRD analysis, which demonstrated the presence of π-π stacking, van der Waals forces, and hydrogen bonding during the self-assembly process of the gel. UV–visible absorption and emission spectroscopy of the gelators were also studied, and it was discovered that gelators G b2 and G b5 exhibited a minimum detection limit of 0.28 μM and 0.16 μM, respectively, for hydrazine hydrate.
