Abstract: A new artificial receptor 1 was developed, and its chromogenic and fluorogenic behaviors toward various metal ions were investigated. Receptor 1 shows exclusively responses toward Hg2+ and Cu2+ ions. It selectively senses Hg2+ and Cu2+ ions through two different color changes in aqueous solution (DMSO/H2O=4/1) and also distinguishes them from other metal ions. In addition, receptor 1 also exhibits pronounced enhancements of the fluorescence, which can visually be discernible by an orchid fluorescence in the presence of Hg2+ ions and a strong blue fluorescence in the presence of Cu2+ ions. Abstract: Three new chemosensors 1–3 were prepared, and their chromogenic and fluorogenic behaviors toward various anions were investigated. Among them, receptor 1 shows exclusive response toward pyrophosphate ion and also distinguishes pyrophosphate from other anions by different color and fluorescent changes in CH3CN/DMSO/H2O (85/10/5, v/v/v) solution. Thus, the receptor 1 can be used as a colorimetric and fluorescent chemosensor for the determination of pyrophosphate ion. The use of test strip of the receptor 1 to detect pyrophosphate was also reported. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

Abstract: Three new chemodosimeters 1–3 were prepared, and their chromogenic and fluorogenic behaviors toward various metal cations were investigated. Receptors 1–3 show exclusive response toward Hg2+ ion and also distinguish Hg2+from other metal cations by different color changes in DMSO aqueous solution (DMSO/H2O=9/1). Among them, receptor 1 also exhibits a pronounced Hg2+-induced fluorescence enhancement. Thus, the receptor 1 can be used as a colorimetric and fluorescent chemodosimeter for the determination of Hg2+ ion. The use of the test strip of the receptor 1 to detect Hg2+ was also reported.
