Field screening methods involving the use of an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay system are fast, relatively cheap and with significantly low false-positives. This technology relies on the lock-and-key theory of coupling between enzyme and substrate. An immunoassay method has been developed using antibody reagents which bind with a color-producing detection system which then discover toxic chemicals in both solid and liquid waste samples. The system makes use of an anti-body and an enzyme conjugate reagent.
