Absorption spectra -- Research ,Chemistry - Abstract
The two-photon absorption (TPA) spectrum of a single crystal of CsUO2(NO3)3 was studied. This compound consists of equatorial ligands which surround the linear uranyl ion to form a trigonal array, unlike the chloride ions of Cs2UO2Cl4 which reside in a near-tetragonal environment. TPA spectroscopy complements one-photon absorption spectroscopy for electronic excitations which are parity conserving, although the chromophore is noncentric. These two types of experiments have established the location and symmetry of eight excited states and the determination of the site of the ninth.
