An analytical method was developed for the determination of glyphosate and AMPA in water. This method involves derivatization in situ with NBD-Cl reagent at 60 °C. The quantification is performed using liquid chromatography with fluores- cence detection after a separation on an amino column. The limit of quantification was estimated at 1 µg/L level for glyphosate and at 0.1 µg/L level for AMPA.

An analytical method has been developed for the determination of glyphosate herbicide and its metabolite aminomethylphosphonic acid (AMPA) in natural waters to a level of 0.10 µg/L with a good linearity in the range 0.10-2.00 µg/L and coefficients of variation under 20 % for each spiked level. The procedure involves a precolumn derivatization step with 9-fluorenylmethylchloroformate (FMOC-Cl) yielding highly fluorescent derivatives of the analytes which then can be determined by HPLC with fluorescence detection. The method is used for analysis of natural (surface and ground) and treated waters. Matric e effects have been pointed out, particularly the effects of hard ionic content and the effects of chlorine residues into treated waters.

In order to combine the biological properties of oligonucleotides, a synthetic chemical modelized reaction was performed and the procedure then applied to the preparation of an alendronate-deoxyoligonucleotide conjugate through a carbamate linker.

Structural study using X-ray cristallography of the complexes of the title has been done. Alendronate is already known to be a very good chelator of divalent cations and supramolecular species obtained with alendronate and these cations are very stable and make them able to be used in biological systems. Our study points out that the size of the cation strongly modifies the structure of the complex. With Cu(II) and Zn(II) which are two cations with proximate ionic radii one cation is put in the centre of the coordination system and structures are isomorphous. On the other hand, with Cd(II), a binuclear complex is obtained. Results are discussed on the basis of these structures.

This preparation requires the phosphonylation of diethyl but-3-enyl-1-phosphonate which is obtained by the Michaelis-Becker reaction. Various methods of vic-diamination are studied to obtain tetraethyl 3,4-diaminobutylidene-1,1-bisphosphonate 11. The best approach consists in preparing the diazide by action of sodium azide, in the presence of manganese (III) acetate, and by reducing it in solution in tetrahydrofurane by triphenylphosphine in the presence of water. Hydrolysis by concentrated hydrochloric acid produces 3,4-diaminobutylidenel, 1-bisphosphonic acid 3.
