This study was aimed to evaluate the utilization of hydrolyzed Indigofera zolingeriana by celullase enzyme as the feed ingredient of gourami fish. This study used a completely randomized design which contained three steps, whereas each step contained four treatments and four replications. The first step performed by evaluating the Indigofera leaf meal (ILM) added with cellulase enzyme of 0 g/kg (control), 0.4 g/kg, 0.8 g/kg, and 1.2 g/kg. The second step was the digestibility test of ILM on gourami seeds. The third step was feed evaluation added with ILM as much as 0% (control), 15%, 30%, and 45% against the growth performance on gourami seeds. The gourami seeds used in the second and third steps with a weight of 13.65 ± 0.39 g/seed and 5.95 ± 0.15 g/seed, respectively. The addition of 0.8 g/kg and 1.2 g/kg cellulase enzyme could significantly decrease the crude fiber of ILM with 43.33%, besides having the best value of total, ingredient, protein, lipid, and energy digestibility. The growth performance of gourami seeds given 15% ILM added feed had the best value and insignificantly different from the control feed without ILM addition based on the specific growth rate (SGR), protein retention (PR), and feed efficiency (FE). ABSTRAK Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengevaluasi pemanfaatan daun Indigofera zolingeriana yang dihidrolisis enzim selulase sebagai bahan baku pada pakan benih ikan gurami. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap yang terdiri atas tiga tahap, dimana masing-masing tahap terdiri dari empat perlakuan dan empat ulangan. Pada tahap pertama dilakukan evaluasi tepung daun Indigofera (TDI) yang ditambahkan enzim selulase sebesar 0 g/kg (kontrol), 0.4 g/kg, 0.8 g/kg, dan 1.2 g/kg. Pada tahap kedua dilakukan uji kecernaan bahan TDI pada benih ikan gurami. Pada tahap ketiga dilakukan evaluasi pakan yang ditambahkan TDI sebesar 0% (kontrol), 15%, 30% dan 45% terhadap kinerja pertumbuhan pada benih ikan gurami. Benih ikan gurami yang digunakan pada penilitian tahap kedua dengan bobot 13.65 ± 0.39 g/ekor dan 5.95 ± 0.15 g/ekor. Penambahan enzim selulase pada dosis 0.8 g/kg dan 1.2 g/kg secara signifikan mampu menurunkan serat kasar TDI sebesar 43.33 % dan memberikan nilai terbaik terhadap nilai kecernaan total, kecernaan bahan, kecernaan protein, kecernaan lemak dan kecernaan energi. Kinerja pertumbuhan benih ikan gurami yang diberikan pakan yang ditambahkan TDI sebesar 15% memilki nilai terbaik dan tidak berbeda nyata terhadap pakan kontrol tanpa TDI dari aspek laju pertumbuhan spesifik (LPS), retensi protein (RP) dan efisiensi pakan (EP). This study aimed to evaluate the effect of dietary supplementation with cinnamon products on the growth, meat quality, liver structure, and blood composition of striped catfish. All diets were developed using intact protein and formulated to have similar protein (25.5–25.7%) and lipid (7.3–7.9%) contents. The control diet was formulated without cinnamon products (C), while dietary treatments were formulated by adding 1% cinnamon powder (CM), 0.1% cinnamon extract (CE), and 0.1% cinnamaldehyde (CN). Each treatment contained four replications. Striped catfish (n=25, average size of 11.97±0.55 g) were stocked in 2 × 1 × 1.5 m3 cages on 20 × 10 m2 pond and fed until apparent satiation twice a day for 72 days. The results demonstrated the differences among CM, CE, and CN diets compared to C diet based on protein retention (27.77% vs 32.62, 34.39, 34.96%, respectively), lipid retention (71.10% vs 60.96, 52.83, 52.93%, respectively), meat hardness (197.07 gf vs 278.37, 283.87, 248.27 gf), lightness (48.37 vs 52.73, 49.93, 48.62, respectively), muscle lipid (7.74% vs 2.61, 2.72, 3.80%, respectively), muscle protein (13.17% vs 18.75, 18.66, 16.35%, respectively), malondialdehyde (0.13 μmol/L vs 0.07, 0.06, 0.06 μmol/L, respectively), and superoxide dismutase enzyme (3.52 U/g protein vs 7.70, 8.71, 7.92 U/g protein, respectively). The CM, CE, and CN diets also improved the fish liver tissue followed by decreased low-density lipoprotein level in blood plasma (1226.27 mg/dL vs 839.77, 811.52, 849.40 mg/dL, respectively). Therefore, cinnamon products can improve the growth, meat quality, liver structure, and blood composition of striped catfish.

This study was aimed to evaluate the use of corn steep powder (CSP) as a plant protein source in Oreochromis niloticus diet. A commercial feed with 28% protein content and 368 kcal/g energy was used as reference diet, while the test feed consisting of various CSP content, namely 0%, 10%, 20%, and 30% and feed containing soybean meal (SBM) at the level of 20% and 30%. Tilapia were used in the trial with the initial body weight of 6.44 ± 0.29 g, and reared for thirty days in the aquarium at the density of fifteen and fed 3 times daily at a satiation level. All diets were supplied by 0.5% of Cr2O3 as an indicator for digestibility measurement. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of dietary supplementation of α-lipoic acid (LA) in the growth, blood chemistry, and liver antioxidant status of African catfish Clarias gariepinus. This study applied a completely randomised experimental design consisting of five experimental diets (30% protein and 4% lipid) with graded levels of LA, i.e. LA0.0 as the control (0.0 g LA kg−1 feed), LA0.5 (0.5g LA kg−1 feed), LA1.0 (1.0 g LA kg−1 feed), LA1.5 (1.5 g LA kg−1 feed), and LA2.0 (2.0 g kg−1 feed) with three replications. An orthogonal polynomial regression analysis was used to determine the optimum dose of LA for fish growth. Seventy-five catfish juveniles (14.65±0.05 g) were randomly distributed into each fibre tank (600 L in capacity) and maintained in zero water exchange condition for 60 days. The fish were fed twice a day to apparent satiation at 08.00 AM and 05.00 PM (GMT+7). Fish survival was at a range of 93.78–97.78% and was not significantly different amongst the treatments (P>0.05). The final body weight, biomass and specific growth rate of the fish fed with LA supplemented diets were generally higher than those of the control. Higher feed intake and feed protein retention were also higher in LA treatment groups compared to that of the control, but there were no significant differences in the feed conversion ratio. In the present study, visual observation on the liver colour was used to indicate the liver condition. Abnormal coloured fish liver (pale coloured) was found to be higher in lipid and malondialdehyde, and lower in superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity than those of normal coloured (red coloured) liver. The percentage of normal coloured liver (red coloured liver) in the control (28.8 %) was lower than that of the LA treatment groups (46.7–70 %). Antioxidant status of the fish in LA treatment groups was superior than that of the control as indicated by the lower levels of MDA and the higher SOD activities. This study aimed to evaluate sago pulp fermentation method and its effect on crude fiber content, digestibility, and utilization of sago pulp as a feed raw material for Nile tilapia. Fermentation was done using three different fermenters, i.e. yeast tapai and baker’s yeast with five doses of 10 g/kg, 20 g/kg, 50 g/kg,70 g/kg,100 g/kg, respectively, and sheep rumen liquid with five doses of 100 mL/kg, 200 mL/kg, 300 mL/kg, 500 mL/kg and 1000 mL/kg. The incubation time was 0, 24, 72, and 96 hours. In the digestibility test, tilapia (25 g) was stocked at a density of 7 fish/aquarium. Three different diets were applied in quadruplicate, i.e. reference diet (100% reference diet), unfermented sago pulp (AS), and fermented sago pulp (ASF). Three different dietary treatments (in quadruplicate) containing different carbohydrate sources were tested, i.e. cassava flour as a comparion (G), unfermented sago pulp (AS), and fermented sago pulp (ASF). Fermentation of sago pulp with tapai yeast at a dose of 50 g/kg at 72 hours incubation time could reduce crude fiber by 35.76%, neutral detergent fiber (NDF) by 32.68%, and hemicellulose by 60.39%. Fermentation with yeast tapai could significantly increase sago pulp dry matter digestibility by 34% and carbohydrate digestibility by 21%, as well as increase glucose absorption. The growth experiment showed that the use of ASF diets resulted in higher specific growth rate (3.31 ± 0.12%/ day), protein retention (47.34 ± 5.23%) and fat retention (85.58 ± 5.44%) than those of AS dietary. In conclusion, fermentation of sago pulp using yeast tapai at a dose of 50 g/kg at 72 hours incubation could reduce crude fiber content and increase dry matter and carbohydrate digestibilities, so that it can be used as a source of carbohydrates in tilapia diet. Fermentasi dilakukan dengan penambahan tiga perlakuan bahan fermentor yaitu ragi tape dan ragi roti ditambahkan dengan dosis masing-masing sebanyak 10 g/kg, 20 g/kg, 50 g/kg, 70 g/kg, 100 g/kg, dan cairan rumen domba yang ditambahkan dengan dosis 100 mL/kg, 200 mL/kg, 300 mL/kg, 500 mL/kg, dan 1000 mL/kg. Percobaan dilakukan dengan tiga perlakuan pakan (4 ulangan) dengan tiga sumber karbohidrat yang berbeda yaitu gaplek (G) sebagai pembanding, ampas sagu (AS), dan ampas sagu fermentasi (ASF). Fermentasi ampas sagu dengan menggunakan ragi tape sebanyak 50 g/kg dengan lama inkubasi 72 jam dapat menurunkan serat kasar tertinggi sebanyak 35.76%, dan menurunkan fraksi serat neutral detergent fiber (NDF) dan hemisellulosa masing-masing sebanyak 32.68% dan 60.39%. Perlakuan fermentasi ampas sagu dapat meningkatkan nilai kecernaan bahan sebesar 34%, kecernaan karbohidrat sebesar 21%, serta penyerapan glukosa. The present study aims to evaluate the effect of dietary fulvic acid supplementation on the accumulation of Pb and Cd and the growth performance of Nile tilapia Oreochromis niloticus fed with diets containing green mussel with high Cd and Pb content. Nile tilapia juveniles with a mean body weight of 8.9 ± 0.6 g were randomly distributed into 15 aquarium units (100 L, 17 fish per aquarium). Five experimental diets were formulated to contain 10% mussel meal with high Pb and Cd concentrations, and five levels of fulvic acid, i.e. 0, 100, 200, 400 and 800 mg kg−1 and fed to the fish to the satiation level for 60 days of culture. The consumption of diets containing Pb and Cd resulted in the accumulation of these heavy metals in the fish, however, fulvic acid dietary supplementation could reduce the accumulation of the heavy metals. Furthermore, the dietary supplementation of fulvic acid up to 400 mg kg−1 had significantly improved the fish growth performance and feed utilization. In conclusion, the dietary supplementation of fulvic acid of 200 mg kg−1 could be recommended to prevent Pb and Cd accumulation and to enhance the growth of Nile tilapia fed with diet containing heavy metals.

A study was conducted to determine the effect of essential fatty acid in striped catfish (Pangasianodon hypophthalmus) broodstock diets on a level of oestradiol‐17β and vitellogenin, reproductive performance and larval quality in out‐of‐spawning season. Five female and five male broodstock were stocked into a net cage (3 × 5 × 1.5 m³) and fed with pelleted diets containing 1.5% fish oil and different amounts of corn oil (CO) in diet formulation, that is 0%, 1%, 2% and 3% respectively. Gonadal development, oestradiol‐17s and vitellogenin concentrations were examined every 2 weeks. Oestradiol‐17s and vitellogenin concentrations showed an increase during the maturation process. The significantly highest percentage of female mature, fecundity, hatching rate, larval production and larval survival rate were obtained from fish fed with 2% corn oil in the diet. This result revealed that the administration of 2% corn oil in the diet as a source of n‐6 (linoleic acid) and 1.5% fish oil as a source of n‐3 (linolenic acid) can improve the reproductive performance of striped catfish broodstock in out‐of‐spawning season.

Rubber seed oil has a high potency to be used as a new lipid source within red tilapia diet. However, the rubber seed oil contains antinutritional factor such as hydrogen cyanide (HCN). HCN is classified into heat‐labile; therefore, heating effectively reduces the HCN content. Based on this fact, this research evaluated the use of rubber seed oil with and without heating as lipid source in red tilapia diet. Carotenoids were known as pigment sources, the precursor of vitamin A, potential antioxidant and can improve the health status of fish. Furthermore, there are also studies that reveal the role of carotenoids in bone formation and metabolism. This study was conducted to determine the effect of different carotenoids at two different doses in the feed on growth, pigmentation, vitamin A conversion, blood profile, antioxidant activity, and calcium bone of the rainbow fish. Twenty-one aquariums with a volume of 20 L each stocked with 20 fish (1.08 ± 0.03 g of body weight and 4.56 ± 0.07 cm of body length). The experiment applied seven experimental diets (in triplicates) consisted of three types of carotenoids were astaxanthin (AS), canthaxanthin (CS), and lutein (LS) and two doses (130 and 260 mg/kg), i.e. AS-130, AS-260, CS-130, CS-260, LS-130, LS-260 and basal (without carotenoids) as the control. The fish were fed for 56 days of experimental period. The results showed that carotenoid diets were able to increase growth, total carotenoids, percentages of chromatophores, vitamin A conversion, erythrocyte, leukocytes, packed cell volume (PCV), neutrophils, and hemoglobin (Hb) compared to the control. Fish fed dietary astaxanthin at a level of 260 mg/kg was superior compared to other diets. Dietary carotenoids were also capable of decreasing the endogenous antioxidant activity of superoxide dismutase (SOD) and malonyl dialdehyde (MDA) and increased the calcium level in fish bone than basal diet. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengevaluasi pengaruh jenis dan dosis karotenoid yang berbeda terhadap pertumbuhan, pigmentasi, konversi vitamin A, gambaran darah, aktifitas antioksidan dan kalsium tulang ikan rainbow Kurumoi. Sebanyak 20 ekor ikan (bobot tubuh rata-rata 1,08 ± 0,03 g dan panjang total rata-rata 4,56 ± 0,07 cm) dan diberi makan pakan yang mengandung karotenoid. Pakan uji terdiri atas tiga jenis karotenoid dengan tiga ulangan yaitu astaksantin (AS), cantaksantin (CS), dan lutein (LS) dan dua dosis (130 dan 260 mg/kg) dikodekan dengan AS-130, AS-260, CS-130, CS-260, LS-130, LS-260 dan basal (tanpa karotenoid) sebagai kontrol. Ikan diberi makan selama 56 hari pemeliharaan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa karotenoid dapat meningkatkan pertumbuhan, total karotenoid, persentase kromatofora, konversi vitamin A, eritrosit, leukosit, hematokrit, neutrofil, dan hemoglobin dibandingkan dengan kontrol. Ikan yang diberi pakan mengandung astaksantin 200 mg/kg lebih baik dibandingkan denga pakan uji lainnya. Pakan yang mengandung karotenoid juga mampu menurunkan antioksidan endogenus superoxide dismutase (SOD) dan malonyl dialdehyde (MDA), serta meningkatkan kalsium tulang ikan dibandingkan pakan kontrol. The study proposed to discover the optimum protein content and energy-protein ratio in practical diet for snakehead, Channa striata. The experiment applied complete randomized design, consisted of six treatments with four replications on each treatment. The treatments were: A (32.5%; 11.82 kcal GE/g), B (32.5%; 13.32 kcal GE/g), C (37.17%; 10.64 kcal GE/g), D (37.33%; 12.07 kcal GE/g), E (43.08%; 10.02 kcal GE/g), and F (42.88%; 10.66 kcal GE/g). Snakehead with average weight of 6.21 ± 0.03 g were reared for 8 weeks. The treatments showed significant results. Increased protein dietary level had increased the growth rate and treatment with high energy-protein ratio at the same protein dietary level provided better growth performance. However, increased energy-protein ratio at E and F treatments caused a decline in growth performance. The improvement of energy-protein dietary ratio had positive correlation with the level of lipid and protein content in fish body. Similar finding was found in liver and muscle glycogen. The results also showed that the increament of energy-protein dietary ratio was significantly and positively correlated with cholesterol, triglyceride, HDL, glucose, and albumin, yet it had no significant effect on LDL. It can be concluded that excellent growth performance was achieved by protein dietary level of 37.33% and energy-protein ratio of 12.07 kcal GE/g.Keywords: energy-protein ratio, growth, snakehead ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk memperoleh kadar protein dan rasio energi-protein pakan buatan yang optimum bagi performa pertumbuhan ikan gabus. Penelitian ini mengaplikasikan rancangan acak lengkap dengan 6 perlakuan, yaitu: A (32,78%;11,82 kkal GE/g), B (32,56%;13,32 kkal GE/g), C (37,17%:10,64 kkal GE/g), D (37,33%:12,07 kkal GE/g), E (43,08%:10,02 kkal GE/g), dan F (42,88%:10,66 kkal GE/g) dan masing-masing terdiri 4 ulangan. Bobot rata-rata ikan gabus yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu 6,21 ± 0,03 g dan dipelihara selama 8 minggu. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa peningkatan kadar protein pakan meningkatkan laju pertumbuhan, dan perlakuan dengan rasio energi-protein tinggi pada level protein pakan yang sama memberikan kinerja pertumbuhan yang lebih baik. Namun demikian, pada perlakuan E dan F, peningkatan rasio energi-protein menyebabkan penurunan kinerja pertumbuhan. Peningkatan rasio energi-protein pakan berkorelasi positif terhadap kadar lemak dan protein tubuh ikan. Hal yang sama juga terjadi pada glikogen hati dan otot. Hasil penelitian juga menunjukkan bahwa peningkatan rasio energi-protein pakan berpengaruh nyata (P0.05). Kesimpulan yang didapat adalah kinerja pertumbuhan optimal dihasilkan oleh kadar protein pakan 37,33% dan rasio energi protein pakan 12,07 kkal GE/g.Kata kunci: albumin, energi, ikan gabus, pertumbuhan, protein

Upaya mereduksi dampak peningkatan limbah terhadap penurunan kualitas air dapat dialihkan dengan cara memanfaatkan limbah anoganik sebagai sumber nutrisi rumput laut. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menentukan tingkat pertumbuhan dan kandungan protein Ulva prolifera yang dipelihara dengan debit air yang berbeda pada sistem budidaya terpadu. Ikan Yellowtail sebanyak 9 ekor dengan biomassa 5,095 g dan berat rata-rata 566,11 ± 81,51 g dipelihara dalam tangki kapasitas 540 L selama 24 hari, dan diberi air mengalir dengan debit 10 L min-1. Air dari tangki budidaya ikan didistribusikan ke dalam tangki sedimentasi kemudian dialirkan ke dalam 6 tangki pemeliharaan Ulva pada debit 0,5, 1,0 dan 1,5 L min-1, masing-masing 2 ulangan. Parameter uji yang diukur adalah kinerja pertumbuhan ikan Yellowtail, biomass Ulva prolifera, kandungan protein Ulva prolifera, dan total ammonia nitrogen. Hasil pengukuran menunjukakan bahwa biomass ikan meningkat menjadi 5,408 g, sedangkan biomassa Ulva meningkat menjadi 42 g, 156 g dan 155 g untuk masing-masing laju aliran 0,5 L, 1,0 L dan 1,5 L min-1. Kadar protein dari Ulva di semua perlakuan sama (P>0,05). Total ammonia pada tangki outlet (0,0202 – 0,1137 mg N L-1) Ulva lebih kecil dari inletnya (0,0286 – 0,1394 mg N L-1). This study was aimed to perform depuration of Pb contained in tilapia body. The experiments were conducted in aquarium using compost of Gliricidia sepium leaf at a concentration of 10g/L, 20 g/L, 30 g/L, 40 g/L, and 0 g/L (control). Supplemental enzyme in artificial diets with difference doses for African catfish Clarias gariepinus (initial weight of 0.0048±0.0001 g and total length 0.7633±0.0392 cm) were examined for 12 days feeding trial. Clown loach both nature and cultured have some problems when reared in aquaria that is the decrease of color quality. An innovation technology to improve color quality through diet formulates is needed. The aims of this research were to increase the color quality using astaxanthin in diet and to find out the role of astaxanthin as antioxidant in clown loach. The study consists of four treatments of astaxanthin dosages in the diet with isoprotein and isoenergy, namely 0, 50, 100 and 150 mg kg-1 with four replications. The fish juveniles with size of 3.44±0.51 cm and 0.56±0.02 g of weight with density of one fish per littre were used. The test diet was given three times a day during 60 days. High in nutrients, green mussel Perna viridis can be used for fish meal replacement in fish diet, yet they contain heavy metals. The addition of Humic Acid (HA) in animals feed brings many advantages, one of which it can chelate heavy metals. HA addition in feed formulation is needed to prevent the accumulation of heavy metals in fish body. An experiment was designed to evaluate the response of HA addition in the diets made of green mussels which contains heavy metals on the growth performance and feed efficiency of Asian seabass, Lates calcarifer juveniles. The experiment was designed by Completely Random Design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 3 replications. A total of five experimental diets were formulated with difference dosage of HA addition (0, 400, 800, 1200, and 1600) mg Kg -1 of feed in the experimental diets (A, B, C, D and E), respectively. The experimental diets were fed to triplicate group of 15 Asian seabass juveniles with initial body weight of 4.30 ± 0.60 g in a 70 days cultivation by feeding at satiation. The result shows feed comsumption, feed digestibility, protein retention, growth performance and feed eficiency were significantly affected by the HA addition in the fish diet (P< 0.05). Treatment E with HA addition 1600 mg Kg -1 diet proved to give best biological response among all treatments. This indicates that the humic acid addition in the diet formulation can improve the utilization of feed for fish growth. The heavy metal Cd in flesh of Asian seabass is still under the limit set in the food safety standard, so the fish in this experiment are still considered safe for human consumption. The present study concluded that green mussel meal as alternative source protein with HA addition can be considered as potential feed additive for the diets of Asian seabass juveniles.

African catfish (Clarias gariepinus) is one of the economically valuable aquaculture fish species in Indonesia. This research was aimed to produce F0 transgenic catfish carrying masou salmon Δ6-desaturase-like (OmΔ6FAD) gene. The Δ6-desaturase enzyme is involved in highly unsaturated fatty acid biosynthesis. Transgenic catfish was produced by sperm-mediated gene transfer using electroporation method. In this study, as the first step, sperms were electroporated with three different OmΔ6FAD concentration (25, 50, and 100 µg mL-1) to have the highest sperm viability after electroporation (125 V/cm, pulse frequency 5 times, pulse length 30 millisecond, pulse interval 0.1 second). The highest sperm viability and sperm carrying OmΔ6FAD were obtain at 100 µg mL-1. This concentration was then used to produce F0 transgenic catfish in the second step. Sperm motility, sperm viability, fertilization rate, hatching rate, and larval survival at 14 days after hatching were the same as the controls (p>0.05). Genomic DNA was extracted from caudal fin and then used as template to identify transgenic F0 by PCR method using specific primer for OmΔ6FAD gene. The PCR result showed that 53.84% of F0 carried OmΔ6FAD gene. The result of fatty acid analysis showed that EPA and DHA contents of F0 transgenic fish and non-transgenic fish were similar. A triplicate experiment was conducted to evaluate the supplementation of monosodium glutamate into the diet on physiological responses, growth performances, and feed efficiency of north African catfish Clarias gariepinus cul-tured in high ammonia environment. A hundred fish with an initial body weight of 11.9±0.3 g was rearing for 60 days without any water exchange in nine plastic tanks (1x1x1 m3) at experimental pond of Department of Aquaculture, Bogor Agricultural University. During rearing period, fish were fed on the diet supplemented with 0%, 0.87%, or 1.74 % of monosodium glutamate, two times a day at satiation. Result shows that the supplementation of monoso-dium glutamate in feed stimulates change in fish physiological responses such as lower Alanin Transaminase mono-sodium glutamate enzyme activity, lower blood ammonia, and higher intestinal glutamine. Feeding using monoso-dium glutamate-supplemented feed at three different doses results in the same growth rate. However, the highest feed efficiency of North African catfish was recorded in the treatment of feed supplemented with 0.87% monosodium glutamate. Thus, it can be inferred that the usage of monosodium glutamate may improve physiological response and feed efficiency but does not affect fish growth rate.

This study was conducted to evaluate stress responses of transportation on red tilapia Oreochromis sp. which given feed containing chromium. Three isonitrogenous and isocaloric experimental feeds were prepared, these diets were control (without chromium), CrPic 1 mg/kg, and CrYst 2 mg/kg supplementation in feed, all group were arranged triplicate. Satiation feeding was done three times a day. After a 60-day feeding experiment, the experimental fishes were fasted and distributed in polyethylene bags (N=60 fish/bag) containing 3 L of water, subjected to condition of transport simulation for 13 hours. Survival rate, levels of plasma cortisol, blood glucose, superoxide dismutase (SOD), and malondialdehyde (MDA) enzyme were observed at before transportation, after transportation, one day, and two days after transportation. The result showed that chromium supplementation reduced the levels of plasma cortisol before and after transportation, one day, and two days after transportation. Also, it decreased blood glucose compared with control significantly before transportation and one day after transportation. The SOD enzyme concentration increased significantly after fish was fed with feed containing chromium for 30 days, while the MDA enzyme concentration increased significantly after two days of transportation. However, there was no significant difference in the survival of red tilapia between treatments. The best result was obtained in the treatment of fish which fed with feed containing chromium. CrPic supplementation 1 mg/kg and CrYst 2 mg/kg increased the body resistance in red tilapia by decreasing the negative effect of stress while transportation. Pemberian pakan sebanyak tiga kali sehari dan dilakukan secara at satiation. Setelah 30 hari pemeliharaan, ikan uji dipuasakan dan didistribusikan dalam plastik polietilen (N=60 ekor ikan/kantong plastik) yang berisi 3 L air, dilakukan dengan simulasi transportasi selama 13 jam. Parameter yang diamati pada penelitian ini adalah kelangsungan hidup, kortisol, glukosa darah, enzim superoksida dismustase (SOD), dan malondialdehida (MDA) saat sebelum transportasi, sesaat setelah transportasi, sehari, dan dua hari setelah transportasi. Hasil yang didapatkan adalah suplementasi kromium menurunkan konsentrasi kortisol secara signifikan sebelum transportasi, sesaat, sehari, dan dua hari setelah transportasi. Suplementasi kromium menurunkan glukosa darah secara signifikan pada saat sebelum transportasi dan sehari setelah transportasi. Konsentrasi enzim SOD meningkat secara signifikan setelah pemberian pakan bersuplementasi kromium selama 30 hari, sedangkan konsentrasi enzim MDA meningkat secara signifikan setelah dua hari transportasi pada ikan yang diberi pakan bersuplementasi kromium. Namun, tidak ada perbedaan yang signifikan pada kelangsungan hidup ikan nila merah antarperlakuan. Hasil terbaik diperoleh pada perlakuan ikan dengan suplementasi kromium. Suplementasi 1 mg/kg CrPic dan 2 mg/kg CrYst dapat meningkatkan daya tahan tubuh pada budidaya ikan nila merah dengan menurunkan pengaruh negatif stres akibat transportasi. h is experiment was conducted to evaluate the eff ect of phytase supplemented to the diet on phosphorus (P) digestibility and growth performance of the green catfi sh Hemibagrus nemurus . Five kinds of experimental diets were used in this experiment, namely diets A, B, C, D and E. Diet A, as a control, was supplemented with inorganic P, without phytase supplementation. Diet B, C, D and E were supplemented with 0, 20, 40 and 60 mg phytase/100 g soybean meal (SBM), respectively, without inorganic P supplementation. Fifteen fi sh with initial body weight of 6.9 + 0.2 g were stocked into each 60-l aquarium. Fish were fed on the diets for 60 days. Results indicated that P digestibility increased from 64.5% to 87.0% as phytase supplement increased from 0 mg in diet B to 60 mg phytase/100 g SBM in diet E. P digestibility in diet E was higher than that in diet A (77.6%). h e daily growth rate and feed conversion ratio followed similar trend. P, Ca and Zn concentration in the whole body and bone of fi sh fed diet E were higher than the fi sh fed diet B, C and D, but were insignifi cant compared to the fi sh fed diet A. Nitrogen (N) and P loading by fi sh fed diet E were, respectively, 76% and 20% lower than those in fi sh fed the control diet. It is concluded that the inclusion of 60 mg phytase/100 g SBM in the diet of the green catfi sh could replace the utilization of inorganic P increase the digestibility of the diet thereby resulting in increased growth rate and reduced excretion of P and N into the waters.

The objective of the present experiment was to study the most optimum taurine enrichment concentration of rotifers in improving Pacific white shrimp larva Litopenaeus vannamei survival and development. White shrimp larvae at sixth naupliar stage were reared in 12 units of 500 L fibre glass tanks with a stocking density of 125 ind/L. Starting from zoea two stage (Z-2), the larva was provided with rotifers with different taurine enrichment concentration according to the treatments, i.e. 0 mg/L enrichment medium (A), 25 mg/L (B), 50 mg/L(C), and 100 mg/L (D). The results show that different taurine concentration in the enrichment media increased taurine level in rotifers. Furthermore, the administration of taurine enriched rotifers up to 50 mg/L significantly improved larval survival and may accelerate larval development. The experimental results also concluded that a concentration of 50 mg/L is the most optimum taurine enrichment concentration of rotifers for the improvement of white shrimp larval survival and developmental stage.Keywords: taurine, rotifer, white shrimp, enrichmentABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji konsentrasi optimum taurin melalui pengayaan pada rotifera terhadap tingkat kelangsungan hidup dan perkembangan stadia larva udang vaname Litopenaeus vannamei. Larva udang vaname stadia naupli-6 dipelihara dalam 12 tangki fiberglass volume 500 L dengan kepadatan 125 ind/L. Dimulai sejak stadia zoea 2 (Z-2) larva diberi rotifera yang diperkaya dengan taurin dengan konsentrasi yang berbeda sesuai dengan perlakuan, yaitu 0 mg/L media pengkaya (A), 25 mg/L (B), 50mg/L (C), dan 100mg/L (D). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan pengayaan taurin pada konsentrasi yang berbeda menyebabkan peningkatan kandungan taurin rotifera. Sementara pemberian rotifera yang diperkaya taurin hingga 50 mg/L meningkatkan kelangsungan hidup dan mempercepat perkembangan stadia larva udang. Two experiments were conducted to evaluate the hydrolysis of fiber content in palm kernel meal (PKM) by sheep rumen liquor enzyme and to know the apparent digestibility coefficient of hydrolyzed PKM for catfish Pangasius hypophthalmus. The first trial examined effectivity of sheep rumen liquor enzyme to decrease crude fiber content of PKM. The added volume of sheep rumen liquor enzyme was 0, 20, 40, 60, 80, and 100 mL/kg PKM and then it was incubated for 0, 12, and 24 hours. A factorial completely randomized experimental design consisted of 2 variables and triplicates were selected. The second trial was conducted to evaluate the apparent digestibility coefficients of hydrolized PKM for catfish. Apparent digestibility coefficients were determined using chromic oxide indicator added to both reference and test diets. The feed ingredients used in the trial were hydrolyzed PKM (PKMe) and unhydrolyzed PKM (PKM). Ten fishes with weighing around 20 g were used in the trial and held in 80 l tanks. Feces were collected from three replicate groups of fish using a fecal collection column attached to fish rearing tank.
