Abstract

The rearrangement of the dibutyl mercaptols of diethyl ketone and dipropyl ketone under the influence of tert-butyl peroxide proceeds with a 1,2-migration of the butylthio group and leads to the respective formation of 2,3-bis(n-butylthio)pentane and 3,4-bis(n-butylthio)heptane.
