The studies results influence of the growth regulator Vermiyodis and sowing norms on wintering of winter oilseed rape plants and Mercedes hybrid on sod podzolic soils of the experimental field of Prykarpattia of the State Agricultural Experimental Station of the NASG region are presented. Studies have shown that the variants with the pre-sowing treatment off the winter variety Cheremosh seeds was carried out, on average over the years of research, at the sowing rate of 0600000 / ha plant death during overwintering was 4.7-5.7 pcs / m2 or 9, 5-10 , 8%, at a sowing rate of 0800000 / ha of germinating seeds - 5.7- 6.2 pieces / m2 or 8.5-9.3%, at a sowing rate of 1.0 million / ha of similar seeds - 8.7-9 , 3 pcs / m2 or 10.1- 10.9%. In the variants where the pre-sowing treatment of seeds was carried out with the Vermiyodis regulator at a dose of 5 l / t at a sowing rate of 08mln / ha, the plant death was 4.6-5.6%, which is 2.8-3.0% less than the norm sowing 1.0 million / ha of germinating seeds. In the variants where the pre-sowing treatment of seeds of the winter hybrid Mercedes was carried out with the growth regulator "Vermiodis" 5 l / t, the percentage of dead plants was 4.8-5.6% at the sowing rate of 0600000 / ha of germinating seeds, at the sowing rate of 0.8 million / ha - 6.1-7.3%, with a sowing rate of 1.0 million / ha of germinating seeds 8.1-8.6%, which is significantly less than the control and options, where presowing seed treatment was carried out with the growth regulator "Vermijodis". Studies have shown that the best overwintering, on average over the years of research, was in the rapeseed variety of winter hybrid Mercedes at a sowing rate of 0600000 / ha of germinating seeds, in the variety Cheremosh at a sowing rate of 0800000 / ha of germinating seeds for pre-sowing seed treatment.

У сучасних умовах для збільшення врожайності культурних рослин використовують передпосівний обробіток насіння з використанням хімічних і біологічних препаратів. У зв’язку з орієнтацією передових країн світу на екологічно безпечні технології виробництва сільськогосподарської продукції все більше уваги приділяється розвитку електротехнологічним методам обробки. Головна перевага електромагнітної технології по передпосівній обробці насіння низькоенергетичним випромінюванням КВЧ діапазону полягає в можливості поліпшення їх зростання і розвитку за рахунок мобілізації внутрішніх резервів самого насіння, пришвидшення дифузії молекул через клітинну мембрану, швидкості хімічних реакцій та викликає збільшення волого поглинання, що в свою чергу прискорює розвиток рослини і сприяє підвищенню врожайності без хімічних або біологічних препаратів або методів генної інженерії. Технологія обробки насіння ЕМП КВЧ дозволяє зберегти в насінні всі поживні речовини, вітаміни та мінерали, що при обробці іншими методами домогтися досить складно. Дослідження спирається на аналіз літературних джерел та експериментальні дослідження енергетичних і спектральних характеристик діодного генератора в КВЧ діапазоні довжин хвиль, судячи з яких можна зробити висновок, що підвищення врожайності рослин можливо на основі застосування інформаційного електромагнітного випромінювання міліметрового діапазону для передпосівної обробки насіння. У статті пропонується методика дослідження енергетичних характеристик напівпровідникового шестидіодного генератора на лавинно-пролітних діодах для передпосівної обробки насіння культурних рослин.Результатом розробленої методики слідує висновок, що одним з основних елементів установки для передпосівної обробки насіння є випромінювач ЕМ енергії, який повинен сформувати необхідну діаграму спрямованості і забезпечити достатній рівень щільності потоку потужності на зерні.

Microbial communities are essential for soil health, but fungicide application may have significant effects on their structure. It is difficult to predict whether nontarget pathogens of applied fungicides in the soil will cause crop damage. Tebuconazole is a triazole fungicide that can be used as a seed treatment and, thereby, introduced to the soil. However, seed-applied tebuconazole has a potential risk of causing poor emergence of corn (Zea mays) seedlings. Using soil with a history of poor corn seedling emergence, we demonstrate through TA cloning and isolation that the poor emergence of corn seedlings from tebuconazole-coated corn seeds was primarily because of infection by surviving soil pathogens, specifically Pythium species that are not targeted by tebuconazole, rather than the phytotoxic effects of tebuconazole. Bioassay tests on tebuconazole-amended media showed that tebuconazole can suppress soil fungi while allowing Pythium to grow. Pythium species primarily contributing to the corn seed rot were more pathogenic at cooler temperatures. Furthermore, the nontarget biocontrol agent of Trichoderma spp. was strongly inhibited by tebuconazole. Taken together, the nontarget effects of tebuconazole are likely not significant under favorable plant growing conditions but are considerable because of low-temperature stress.

BACKGROUND The highly polyphagous and invasive fall armyworm (FAW, Spodoptera frugiperda) can feed on different plant parts of host crops, damaging whorls and stalks in early maize growth stages. Systemic insecticide seed treatment (IST) could minimize this damage, although the residual efficacy may vary with the plant tissue damaged. Using damage rating scales and artificial infestation in controlled conditions, we determined the potential of IST against FAW attacking maize whorl leaves or the stalk base. RESULTS Chlorantraniliprole, cyantraniliprole, or thiodicarb+imidacloprid IST similarly killed >80% FAWs for one or two weeks after plant emergence depending on the plant tissue attacked. The residual efficacy (i.e., time after plant emergence sustaining >80% larval mortality) lasted from the first to the eleventh day (VE-V3 maize growth stages), while for cutworm on the maize stalk base, it lasted 3-7 days after plant emergence (V1-V2 stages). In terms of damage, the ISTs lasted 15 days after emergence (V4 stage) for FAW on whorl leaves and 10 days (V3 stage) for FAW feeding on the stalk base. The larvae surviving on the seed-treated plants underwent sublethal effects in growth and development, reducing insect fitness. CONCLUSION Diamide or carbamate+neonicotinoid seed treatments kill FAW larvae on maize whorls or stalks in favorable edaphoclimatic and insecticide-susceptibility conditions. The cumulative impacts of systemic IST on above-ground insect pests go beyond mortality. The ISTs studied can be valuable against FAW in maize, for instance, to help protect varieties that may not express sufficient insect resistance in maize early growth stages. Poor competitive ability and limited herbicide options make weed management of Brassica crops difficult. Growers often adopt the use of transplants, which is less efficient in terms of time, material, and labor when compared with direct seeding, resulting in higher prices per unit. Seed treatment with protective compounds could decrease crop injury from preemergent (PRE) herbicides making it profitable to direct-seed Brassica plants for production. Research was conducted to evaluate the ability of three candidate safeners [24-epibrassinolide, melatonin, and ascorbic acid (AsA)] to reduce injury caused by four herbicides (S-metolachlor, pyroxasulfone, halosulfuron, and mesotrione) applied PRE on the collard green cultivar Top Bunch and turnip cultivar Purple Top White Globe. Two independent greenhouse trials were conducted at the Clemson University Coastal Research and Education Center in Charleston, SC. Visual injury of the treated plants was evaluated weekly and dry mass was collected 21 days after treatment. Seed treatment did not reduce injury efficiently caused by pyroxasulfone, halosulfuron, and mesotrione; all doses were lethal for both crops. However, collard seeds treated using melatonin and AsA had 66% and 54% less injury caused by S-metolachlor at 514 g⋅ha–1 a.i., respectively. On turnips, melatonin was the only treatment that reduced the S-metolachlor damage on seedlings, with 43% less injury than untreated seedlings. Plant injury and plant weight correlated significantly for both Brassica crops. The reduction in injury caused by S-metolachlor when seeds were treated with melatonin and AsA validated those compounds’ protective ability. Seed treatment with melatonin could be combined with PRE applications of S-metolachlor to overcome the low weed competitive ability of these species early in the season.

Effets des traitements des semences d’Aeschynomene histrix Poir. sur la germination Description du sujet. La levee et la croissance d’Aeschynomene histrix Poir. peut etre reduite a cause d’une dormance tegumentaire. Objectifs. Evaluer les effets du temps de retention des graines dans le tube digestif des bovins Lagunaires ou d’autres traitements pre-semis sur l’aptitude germinative des graines d’A. histrix. Methode. Premierement, trois jeunes taureaux et trois genisses ont recu individuellement 1 000 graines qui ont ete recherchees dans les excrements. Deuxiemement, la germination des graines excretees par les bovins a ete comparee a sept autres traitements pre-semis : controle (graines intactes non traitees) ; graines scarifiees au papier a scarifier et graines immergees dans de l’eau chaude (80 °C) pendant 2, 4, 6, 8 et 10 min. Troisiemement, nous avons compare le nombre de plantules qui ont emerge de feces intactes et emiettees. Resultats. Les bovins Lagunaires peuvent potentiellement favoriser la dispersion des graines d’A. histrix avec une recuperation maximale le deuxieme jour apres l’ingestion. Sur le nombre de graines ingerees, 13,42 % ont ete recuperees. Le pourcentage de germination etait le plus eleve pour les graines scarifiees au papier a scarifier (96 %) et pour les graines prechauffees pendant 2 min (86 %), et le moins eleve pour celles issues du tractus digestif (4,27 %). La decomposition des excrements a double la levee des plantules. Conclusions. Pour la levee de dormance des graines d’A. histrix, l’utilisation d’une scarification mecanique a l’aide du papier a scarifier ou le trempage des graines dans de l’eau chaude pendant 2 min peuvent etre plus benefiques que l’ingestion par les bovins.

Complex diseases caused by Meloidogyne incognita and Fusarium fungus in cucumber is the most destructive disease under polyhouses. The experiment was conducted in the polyhouse of the Department of Horticulture, CCS HAU, Hisar, Haryana, India during summer season (2015–16) to evaluate the potential of bacterial and fungal biocontrol agents against Meloidogyne incognita and Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cucumerinum in cucumber. Bioagents - Trichoderma viride (Tv), Pseudomonas fluorescence (Pf), Purpureocillium lilacinum (Pl) were taken 10 and 20 g kg−1 seed and bioagents liquid formulation, 10- and 15-ml kg−1 seed, were mixed with the potted soil. Chemical as well as untreated check were also maintained. All the treatments significantly improved the plant growth parameter, viz., shoot length (SL), root length (RL), fresh shoot weight (FSW), fresh root weight (FRW), dry shoot weight (DSW) and dry root weight (DRW) as compared to untreated check. However, significant reduction in nematode population and maximum improvement in plant growth parameter was recorded with carbofuran followed by higher dose of bioagents liquid formulation. Among the bioagents, bioagents liquid formulation was most effective in suppressing root knot nematode galling (43 / root system) and final population in soil (131 J2s / 200 cc soil) and fungus wilt incidence (25 %) at 30th day of after germination and significantly improved the plant growth parameters - shoot length (147.3 cm), fresh shoot weight (55.6 g), dry shoot weight (22.51 g) and dry root weight (4.50 g) from other bioagents. Bioagents liquid formulation was effective in suppression of root-knot nematode and fungus complex disease than the powder formulations of bioagents. More studies should be needed in future to evaluate the efficacy of bioagents as seed treatments and soil applications under field conditions.

The current study was carried out for managing paddy seed discolouration using ecofriendly method with native biocontrol strains and their effects on growth and seed quality parameters as seed discolouration is now an emerging complex problem in rice. In dual culture assay, maximum per cent inhibition was recorded in Trichoderma viride (66.62(%)) followed T. harzianum (65.93(%)) whereas, minimum in Talaromyces flavus (33.68 (%)) on the 7th day of incubation. Under field conditions, combination of seed treatment, seedling dip and the spray of T. viride performed better with all plant growth and seed quality parameters. In cultivars PS-5 and P-44 there were healthy seeds (67.32 and 64.39(%), respectively), discoloured seeds (22.10 and 23.03(%)), filled seeds (78.07 and 77.25(%)), unfilled seeds (22.10 and 23.03(%)) and yield (55.20 and 58.28 q/ha), respectively. Whereas, lower performance was observed in control (T10) of PS-5 and P-44 these were healthy seeds (%) (52.98 and 52.09), discoloured seeds (%) (16.51 and 17.98), filled seeds (%) (69.54 and 69.90), unfilled seeds (%) (30.46 and 29.89) and yield (43.43 and 50.72 q/ha) respectively. Similarly, T-7 performed better with respect to seed quality parameters of PS-5 and P-44 these were germination (%) (96 and 94(%)), dry weight (0.0970 and 0.0690 g), seedling length (26.03 and 27.03 cm), SVI-I was maximum in T-7 (2554.19 and 1885.07) SVI-II (9.30 and 6.59) and test weight (24.54 and 16.57 g). Whereas the least performance was seen in T-10 for seed quality parameters germination (%) (68 and 66), seedling dry weight (0.0860 and 0.0600 g) seedling length (19.87 and 22.50 cm), SVI-I (1445.67 and 1473.64), SVI-II (5.86 and 4.07) and test weight (24.04 and 16.22 g) respectively. Our results clearly show that grain discolouration can be efficiently managed using the native Trichoderma viride strain.

BACKGROUND Exposure of Apis mellifera to neonicotinoid insecticides is one of the factors attributed to the recent decline in A. mellifera populations resulting in economic and ecological losses due to loss of pollination services. Honey bees can get exposed to neonicotinoids like imidacloprid directly in the field at the time of application as well as during consumption of pollen and nectar from treated plants. So, the fate of imidacloprid in commodities to which honey bees get exposed needs to be overhauled. RESULTS Residue of imidacloprid was investigated following imidacloprid application as seed treatment (2.4 and 4.8 g a.i. kg-1 seed) at the time of sowing and as foliar spray (17.8 and 35.6 g a.i. ha-1 ) at 70 days after sowing when the crop was at full bloom stage. The imidacloprid residue was below limit of quantification (LOQ) in flowers, necatariferous tissue, pollen from seed-treated cotton plants and honey collected from hives kept in plots with seed-treated cotton plants. However, average initial imidacloprid residue (2 h after spray) was 1.84 and 1.95 mg kg-1 in flowers; 0.22 and 0.24 mg kg-1 in nectariferous tissue; 0.88 and 0.96 mg kg-1 in pollen collected from plants sprayed with imidacloprid @ 17.8 g a.i. ha-1 at locations Faridkot and Bathinda, respectively. The average initial imidacloprid residue (21 days after spray) in honey collected from hives was 0.01 mg kg-1 . CONCLUSION The residue in different substrates sampled from seed treated cotton plants was below LOQ. However, its foliar spray at bloom time resulted in imidacloprid residue in flower, nectariferous tissue, pollen and honey sampled from hives placed in plots.

They are given results of researches on studying of influence of planting methods and seeding rates on the background of pre-sowing seed treatment and foliar feeding of cannabis seed varieties Nadezhda with HCS HUMATE+7 to improve the technology of cultivation of culture. The positive influence of the studied agricultural practices on the field germination and the safety of plants for harvesting, growth processes and the assimilation surface of leaves, plant resistance to diseases and the yield of stems and seeds was established. The best indicators were noted against the background of pre-sowing treatment with wide-row sowing with a seeding rate of 1.5 million/ha, with ordinary sowing with a seeding rate of 2.5 million/ha, followed by foliar fertilization.

The field experiment entitled “Pre sowing seed treatment of bio inoculants and micronutrients on growth, yield and yield attributing traits of lentil (Lens culinaris L.)” var. Shekhar Masoor-2 was conducted during rabi at central reseach field of the Department of Genetics and Plant Breeding, Sam Higginbottom University of Agriculture, Technology & Sciences, Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, India during 2020 - 2021. The experiment consisted of 13 treatments which was laid in Randomized Block Design (RBD). Results revealed that seeds treated with T12 (Rhizobium + PSB + KMB + ZnSO4 + Ammonium molybdate) recorded maximum values in growth parameters viz., field emergence (%) 88.72%, plant height at 30, 60, 90 DAS with 6.97, 23.33, 45.2 cm Days to 50% flowering (72.67days), number of branches 5.07 branches per plant, number of pods per plant with 64.07 pods per plant, number of seeds per pod 1.85 seeds per pod. Similar results are observed in yield paramters where highest seed yield per plant was observed in T12 (Rhizobium + PSB + KMB + ZnSO4 + Ammonium molybdate) with 3.79 g and seed yield per plot 107.4 g.

The aim of this work is to investigate the composition of pathogenic mycoflora on seeds of grain sorghum in the Samara region and to study the effectiveness of dressing agents against pathogens in laboratory conditions. Research methodology and methods. The research was carried out on the basis of the laboratory of innovative technologies in breeding, seed production and seed science of the Volga NIISS, a branch of the SamSC RAS. The objects of research were two varieties of grain sorghum Ros’ and Kinel’skoe 63. Determination of the population of seeds by pathogenic organisms was carried out by the method of a wet chamber with their preliminary placement on corrugated filter paper in boxes with natural ventilation using the technique according to GOST 12044-93 and subsequent microscopy. To study the effect of plant protection chemicals, the seeds were treated with moisture (at the rate of 10 l/tons) with preparations of contact-systemic action Celeste Maks and Vitaros; contact – TMTD and Maksim; and systemic action - Armor. Untreated seeds were used as a control. The repetition is fourfold. Results. Correct diagnosis and knowledge of the causes of the onset of the disease, the peculiarities of the development of a particular pathogen will be the basis for the successful implementation of protective and preventive measures. Phytopathological examination of grain sorghum seeds, carried out by us in 2019–2020, shows that the most common fungi found on grain sorghum seeds are Cladosporium sp., Trichothecium roseum, Mucor sp., Penicillium sp. It has been established that dressing agents with varying efficiency – from 75.8 to 97.6 % reduce the contamination of seed material. Scientific novelty. A phytopathological assessment of grain sorghum seeds was carried out in relation to the conditions of the Samara region and the most effective preparations for pre-sowing treatment of grain sorghum were determined to reduce the damage to plants by diseases.

Цель работы: подбор регуляторов роста растений и биологических препаратов фунгицидного действия, оказывающих положительное влияние на энергию прорастания, всхожесть, рост и развитие растений томата сорта Транс Рио. Влияние регуляторов роста растений и микробиологических препаратов на энергию прорастания, всхожесть, рост и развитие растений было определено в лабораторных условиях на базе ФГБНУ ФНЦБЗР путем помещения обработанных семян во влажную камеру. Объектами исследования выступали регуляторы роста растений: Биодукс, Ж, ОберегЪ, Р, Иммуноцитофит, ТАБ; Рибав-Экстра, Р; биологические фунгициды на основе живых культур микроорганизмов: Гамаир, СП, Триходерма Вериде 471, СП, Псевдобактерин-2, Ж, Споробактерин, СП, а также штаммы В. velezensis BZR 517, В. velezensis BZR 336g. В работе был использован краситель Sapphire Seed Coat, разрешенный к применению в ЕС в органическом земледелии. Совместимость биопрепаратов была определена методом диффузии в агар. Исследование методом диффузии в арар показало, что краситель Sapphire Seed Coat не оказывает ингибирующего действия на микробиологические препараты Гамаир, СП; Триходерма 471, СП; Псевдобактерин-2, Ж; Споробактерин, СП и штаммы В. velezensis BZR 517, В. velezensis BZR 336g. Отмечено положительное влияние на рост и развитие томата препарата Гамаир, СП и штамма В. velezensis BZR 336g: увеличение массы корня на 23,5–52,9% и массы побега на 36,5–70,3%. Отмечено статистически значимое увеличение всех биометрических показателей при использовании смеси Иммуноцитофит, ТАБ и Sapphire Seed Coat: прибавка массы корня на 36,4%, длины и массы побега на 7,9 и 1,5% соответственно. Отобраны биопрепараты, которые будут задействованы в дальнейших этапах работы в качестве экологически безопасных средств для обработки семян томата с целью долгосрочного хранения (Гамаир, СП и штамм В. velezensisBZR 336g). Purpose of this work is to select plant growth regulators and biological preparations of fungicidal action that have a positive effect on the germination energy, germination, growth and development of tomato plants of the Trans Rio variety. The effect of plant growth regulators and microbiological preparations on germination energy, germination, growth and development of plants was determined in laboratory conditions at the base FSBSI FRCBPP by placing treated seeds in a humid chamber. The objects of the study were plant growth regulators: Biodux, F, Obereg, P, Immunocytophyte, TAB; Ribav-Extra, P; biological fungicides based on live cultures of microorganisms: Gamair, SP; Trichoderma Veride 471, SP, Pseudobacterin-2, F, Sporobacterin, SP, as well as strains of B. velezensisBZR 517, B. velezensis BZR 336g. The dye Sapphire Seed Coat, approved for use in the EU in organic farming, was used in the work. The compatibility of biological products was determined by the method of diffusion into agar. The method of diffusion into agar showed that the Sapphire Seed Coat does not have an inhibitory effect on the microbiological preparations Gamair, SP; Trichoderma 471, SP; Pseudobacterin-2, W; Sporobacterin, SP and the strains B. velezensis BZR 517, B. velezensis BZR 336g. A positive effect on the growth and development of tomato preparation Gamair, SP and strain B. velezensis BZR 336g was noted: an increase in root weight by 23.5–52.9% and shoot weight by 36.5–70.3%. There was a statistically significant increase in all biometric indicators when using a mixture of Immunocytophit, TAB and Sapphire Seed Coat: an increase in root weight by 36.4%, length and weight of the shoot by 7.9 and 1.5%, respectively. Biological products have been selected that will be used in the further stages of work as environmentally safe means for processing tomato seeds for long-term storage (Gamair, SP and B. velezensis strain BZR 336g).

Insufficient water supply is one of the main factors that significantly reduce the activity of nitrogen fixation by legume-rhizobial symbiotic systems. That is why comprehensive research on aspects of their resistance to water stress and the search for scientifically substantiated ways to improve the existing ones and develop modern, competitive technologies of growing legumes in arid conditions are becoming especially relevant. The aim of the work was to investigate the processes of formation and functioning of soybean-rhizobial symbiotic systems developed under conditions of different water supply and influence of nanocarboxylates of cobalt, ferum, germanium, chromium, сuprum and molybdenum. The nanoparticles of specified metal nanocarboxylates were used as components of the inoculation suspension of rhizobia of Tn5 mutant B1-20 for soybean seed treatment. A model drought lasting 14 days was created by controlled irrigation. Microbiological and physiological research methods were used in the study. We determined that insufficient water supply caused a significant decrease in the nodulation potential of rhizobia and the intensity of molecular nitrogen fixation by symbiotic systems formed with the participation of soybean plants and nodule bacteria without adding these metal nanocarboxylates to the inoculation suspension. Application of most of the metal nanocarboxylates used as components of the inoculation suspension mitigated the negative impact of stress on the investigated parameters. The study revealed the stimulating effect of cobaltnanocarboxylate on the activity of molecular nitrogen fixation, which was more pronounced in the conditions of insufficient water supply. Symbiotic soybean systems formed with the participation of nodule bacteria containing germaniumcarboxylate nanoparticles were proved to be the least sensitive to the negative impact of insufficient water supply. This was indicated by high rates of nodulation and nitrogen-fixing activity compared with other studied symbiotic systems. We confirmed that the addition of chromium nanocarboxylate to the inoculation suspension of rhizobia provided the highest rates of nodulation and nitrogen-fixing activity of soybean root nodules under optimal growing conditions and, at the same time, had no noticeable positive effect under water stress. We determined that сuprum and molybdenum nanocarboxylates, as components of the inoculation suspension, regardless of the water supply level, had a less notable positive effect on the processes of nodule formation and nitrogen fixation, and in some cases even led to a decrease in the investigated values for control plants. Thus, the study demonstrated that the use of germanium, cobalt and ferum nanocarboxylates as components of the bacterial suspension helped to increase the adaptation of the formed legume-rhizobial symbiotic systems to water stress, as evidenced by the maximum indexes of nodulation and molecular nitrogen fixation in the context of insufficient water supply and recovery of their level to optimal after the stress influence had ended. Based on the results, it was concluded that inoculation of seeds by the complex bacterial preparations made on the basis of Bradyrhizobium japonicum B1-20 with a content of germanium, cobalt and ferum nanocarboxylates in the concentration of 1:1000 can become one of the important means in soybean growing technologies of increasing the nitrogen-fixing potential and resistance of plants to insufficient water supply.

This study aimed to evaluate the effect of biostimulant positioning on common bean cultivars in the southwestern Goiás conditions. The experiment was conducted in the municipality of Mineiros-GO. The experimental design was a randomized block in factorial 6x3, corresponding to the positioning of the Triplus® biostimulator (R5, R5 + R8 and water) in six common bean cultivars (BRS Campeiro, BRS Esteio, BRS Estilo, BRS Marfim, BRS Notavel and BRS Perola) in 4 replicates. The following productive attributes were evaluated: number of pod, number total of grains, number of commercial grains, number of non-commercial grains, mass of commercial grains, thousand grains mass. There was a significant interaction between cultivar x biostimulant as well as the factors alone. At the end of the experiment, it was concluded that the positioning of the biostimulant via foliar in the R5 phenological phase provided the highest yields for all common bean cultivars, especially BRS Estilo (43.87 sc ha-1) and BRS Notavel (43.02 sc ha-1). Biostimulant applications at stage R5 promoted the best results for number of non-commercial grains, mass of commercial grains, thousand grains mass. In the three stratifications used in the dendrogram, it was possible to form two groups of genotypes. Number total of grains, number of commercial grains and number of pod positively correlate with yield.

The experiment was conducted in the central research field at the department of Genetics and Plant Breeding, Sam Higginbottom University Of Agriculture, Technology & Sciences and college, Prayagraj (U.P) during Rabi season 2020-2021. In order to standardize the suitable pre-sowing seed treatment of Mustard (Variety-Sulabh-3777) laid by Randomized block design(RBD). Influence of different seed treatment on growth, yield and seed quality parameters of mustard were evaluated by Viz T0- Control, T1-Hydropriming(-0.3Mpa) for 3Hrs, T2-KNO3 1% for 12Hrs, T3-Nacl - 1% for 12Hrs, T4-KH2PO4 -1% for 12Hrs, T5- Electromagnetic (200Guass) for 30Mins, T6-PEG6000 (0.15 Mol.) for 3Hrs, T7- Neem leaf Extract- 5% for 12Hrs, T8-Tulasi Leaf Extract-5% for 12Hrs , T9- Recommended NPK, 10-Recommended NPK+FYM, T11-Azotobacter, T12-Azotobacter + 50% NPK+ FYM. To find out influence of different seed treatment on growth, yield and seed quality parameters of mustard showed that significant treatment field emergence (%), plant height (30,60,90 DAS), days to 50% flowering, number of branches per plant, number of siliquae per plant, number of seeds per siliquae, seed yield per plant (g), seed yield per plot (g), biological yield (g), harvest index. The study helps to improve the quality to improve seed with help of seed various botanicals, chemicals and biofertilizers priming treatment which are cost effective and economic, non- toxic, ecofriendly sources.

Chitosan is a biodegradable natural compound that has a great potentiality in agriculture for controlling plant diseases. An attempt was made to control Fusarium wilt caused by Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. melongenae under inoculated field condition and increase the growth and yield of brinjal by chitosan. Before setting the experiments in the field, preliminary laboratory experiments were carried out to select virulent isolate and effective dose of chitosan against the mycelial growth of the selected pathogen. F. oxysporum f. sp. melongenae isolate F-1 was found to be the most virulent on brinjal in pathogenicity test. Chitosan @ 1.0% concentration was appeared to be the highest inhibitory to the test pathogen at in vitro condition. Additionally, seed treatment with 1.0% chitosan for 12 hrs resulted in the highest increased in germination and seedling growth of brinjal. The field experiment was conducted following Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with four treatments. No treatment was given in T1, the pathogen was inoculated in T2 and seed treatment and soil amendment with 1.0% chitosan was done in T3 and T4, respectively, in test pathogen inoculated condition. Application of 1.0% chitosan as a seed treatment (T3) or soil amendment (T4) significantly reduced pre- and post-emergence seedling mortality, incidence and severity of Fusarium wilt as well as enhanced germination percentage, plant growth and yield of brinjal. On the contrary, pre-emergence and post-emergence seedling mortality, disease incidence and severity of Fusarium wilt were highest in treatment T2 where the soil was inoculated with pathogen without chitosan. Therefore, chitosan could be used against this vascular disease as an alternative to inorganic fungicides and augment yield.

A study was made to evaluate the effectiveness of seed treatment (4 g/kg seed) and soil application (4 g/kg soil) of Trichoderma atroviride, T. auroviride, T. hamatum, T. harzianum, T. koningii, T. longibrachiatum, T. virens, and T. viride for managing white mould caused by Sclerotinia sclerotiorum (2 g/kg soil) in pea (Pisum sativum) under pot condition. The pea cv. Vasundhara was found highly susceptible to the white mould fungus, exhibiting irregular water-soaked lesions on stems, branches and leaves. Application of Trichoderma spp. reduced the severity of mould by 27–29% and significantly enhanced the plant growth (19–22%) and yield of pea (11–16%) over control. The treatments with T. harzianum provided maximum enhancement in the plant growth (14–32%) and yield (9–13%). The root nodulation was promoted by 14–21% (T. harzianum) and 11–17% (T. virens) over control. Overall, seed treatment with Trichoderma spp. on seeds provided relatively greater control of Sclerotinia mould of pea and subsequent enhancement in the yield in comparison to soil application.

Sunflower is the main oilseed crop in Russia, at the same time it is widely used in the feed production. The purpose of the research was to improve the technology of sunflower cultivation in the zone of Southern chernozems in the Volgograd region by conducting a comprehensive presowing seed treatment in an electric field with subsequent seed treatment with a growth regulator in order to increase the yield and quality of oilseeds studied sunflower hybrids. According to the chosen experimental plan, three types of experiments have been carried out. During the first experiment, seeds of sunflower hybrids NK Neoma, LG 5550, EC Petunia have been treated in the alternate current electric field, in the second experiment the seeds have been treated with a growth regulator (the drug “Zerebra Agro”), in the third experiment the seeds have been subjected to a complex effect of electrophysical and biological factors. The level of profitability on sunflower hybrids NK Neoma, LG 5550 and EC Petunia in the control (without treatment) varied in the range of 147–200 %. Processing of sunflower seeds with the drug “Zerebra Agro” contributed to the increase in the level of profitability. On the sunflower hybrid of NK Neoma the profitability level was 178 %, on the sunflower hybrid LG 5550 it was 232 % and on the sunflower hybrid EC Petunia it was 171 %. When processing seeds in the alternate current electric field, the level of profitability was higher than when processing with the drug “Zerebra Agro”. On the sunflower hybrid of NK Neoma, the profitability level was 190 %, on the sunflower hybrid LG 5550 it was 252 % and on the sunflower hybrid EC Petunia it was 184 %. When using complex pre-sowing treatment, the maximum profitability value was achieved for sunflower hybrids NK Neoma, LG 5550 and EC Petunia 230 %, 271 and 201 %, respectively.

Aim: The present investigation was conducted to validate the various moisture regimes in transplanted rice and to study the effect of different moisture conservation techniques on performance of rice and soil after harvest of crop. Study Design: Experiment was laid out in split plot design (SPD). Place and duration of Study: The present investigation was conducted during the kharif season of 2018 and 2019 at the Crop Research Centre of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel University of Agriculture & Technology, Meerut (U.P.), India. Methodology: The main factor consists of the moisture regimes viz. irrigation as CF (I1), at FC (I2) and at 25%DASM (I3), the sub factors consist of six moisture conservation techniques viz. control, application of wheat residues @ 5t/ha, Pusa hydrogel @7.5 kg/ha, seed treatment with PF-6, PF-2 and IRRI-1 @ 4g/kg seed. Observation on plant growth attributes viz., plant height and leaf area index were recorded at 30, 60 DAT and at harvest stage of the crop, while chlorophyll content was recorded at 30 and 60 DAT. The harvest index was calculated on the net plot area basis. Observation on soil dynamics viz., available NPK and OC were recorded both before and after harvesting of crop. Results: Among different moisture regimes, the highest plant height, LAI and chlorophyll content was found under CF (I1) followed by FC (I2) during both the years. Among MCTs, the highest values of growth attributes and harvest index of rice were found with application of wheat residue @ 5 t/ha followed by Pusa hydrogel @ 7.5 kg/ha during both the years. Maximum value of harvest index was recorded under CF during first year, while it was highest under FC during 2019. Slight improvement in available nutrients were observed at 25% DASM treatment of moisture regimes and wheat residues @ 5 t/ha treatment of moisture conservation techniques over their other counterparts during both the years of experimentation. Conclusion: On the basis of study, it may be concluded that irrigation should be scheduled at FC (2-3 days after disappearance of water on surface) in transplanted rice and application of wheat residues @ 5 t/ha in rice is an appropriate moisture conservation technique for improving the physiological growth and productivity, besides enhancing the soil fertility.

Objects of study: plants Apiaceae family – Coriandrum sativum L. (variety Jubilar), Anethum graveolens L. (variety Rusich), Apium graveolens L. (variety Aeliksir); flavonoid glycoside linarozid from plants Linaria vulgaris Mill. L., steroid glycoside moldstim from seeds Capsicum annuum L.. Methods of study: seed treatment with 0,001% water solutions of glycosides, cultivation of plants Apiaceae family at the multi circle hydroponic construction.Results. First experiment by cultivation of plants Apiaceae family at multi circle hydroponic construction was successful and show, that plants Apiaceae family can cultivate at vertical installations Plenty-type. Reaction on the seed treatment with water solutions of glycosides is depended on the species of plants. Seed treatment with glycosides increased height of plants and weight of leaves of Coriandrum sativum L. Anethum graveolens L. increased germination of seeds after seed treatment with water solution of linarozide. Apium graveolens L. increased germination of seeds, height of plants and weight of leaves after seed treatment with water solutions of glycosides. But water solution of moldstim was more effective in 2020, and water solution of linarozide was more effective in 2021.

The effects of a commercial Ascophyllum seaweed extract (ASWE) on the growth parameters of sweet pepper plants were studied under grow box home garden conditions in the Caribbean. Grow box cultivation of vegetables in the backyard is very popular in Trinidad and Tobago and the wider Caribbean region. The use of synthetic chemicals should be avoided under home conditions due to the underlying hazards and for biosafety reasons. The application of ASWE at the rate of 0.5% as a foliar spray in sweet pepper plants under grow box home garden conditions improved the plant growth parameters, increased the fruit number, and also enhanced the shelf life of the harvested sweet pepper fruits. Soil drenching of ASWE to plants was less effective compared to foliar application. ASWE foliar spray also reduced the intensity of diseases and pests in plants and further promoted the prevalence of natural enemies. The spraying of ASWE significantly increased the biochemical constituents such as chlorophyll content, reducing sugars, phenol, and amino acids compared to the water control. The activity of the defense-related enzymes (chitinase, β-1,3 glucanase, peroxidase, polyphenol oxidase, phenylalanine ammonia-lyase), and phenolic content was significantly greater in sweet pepper plants treated with ASWE treatment compared to the control. Seed treatment by priming in 0.5% ASWE significantly increased the germination percentage, shoot, and root length of seedlings. The positive effects of ASWE might be attributed to the chemical makeup, native to the seaweed extract, which is believed to contain several organic components, including dissolved nutrients and growth-promoting and diverse functional organic molecules that can induce multiple growth effects in plants. This study demonstrates that ASWE can be readily used under home garden conditions as this would be very conservative to the environment as well as promote the system of organic cultivation.

Aim. The elaboration of efficient legume-rhizobial symbiosis systems, involving active strains of nodule bacteria, in the combination with fungicide seed treatment may be an alternative method of providing ecologically friendly nitrogen sources to plants and promoting their tolerance to the external factors, which is relevant for preservation and restoration of envi- ronmental quality. Therefore, the aim of our study was to determine the impact of pre-sowing seed treatment with fungi- cides, which differ in the action spectrum of active substances – Standak Top (fipronil, 250 g/l, thiophanate-methyl, 225 g/l, pyraclostrobin, 25 g/l) and Maxim XL (fludioxonyl, 25 g/l, metalaxyl, 10 g/l), on the intensity of the development of lipid peroxidation processes, the activity of antioxidant enzyme ascorbate peroxidase and nitrogen fixation activity in soybeans on the early stages of forming legume-rhizobial symbiosis. Methods. Microbiological (cultivation of a bacterial culture, seed inoculation), physiological (vegetative experiment), biochemical (spectrophotometric determination of the content of lipid peroxidation products and the activity of ascorbate peroxidase; measuring the nitrogen-fixation activity using a gas chro- matography). Results. It was found that pre-sowing fungicide treatment of soybean seeds and subsequent inoculation with active rhizobia of strain 634b did not result in the change in the content of TBA-active products in roots and root nodules (the values of indices were within the experiment deviation). At the same time, after seed inoculation using rhizobia and treat- ment with Maxim XL, there was an increase in the activity of ascorbate peroxidase in the roots from 20.3 to 30.8 %, and with Standak Top – from 20.0 to 29.8 % during the early stages of ontogenesis till the formation of the third ternate leaf. Here, the activity of the enzyme in root nodules increased by 24.7–40.3 % at the fungicidal effect. Our data demonstrate that the combination of fungicide seed treatment and inoculation with active rhizobia does not induce lipid peroxidation processes, but promotes the initiation of protective antioxidant properties in soybeans. It is accompanied with efficient functioning of the symbiotic apparatus, which is manifested in the increase in nitrogen-fixing activity of nodule bacteria, formed by active rhizobia of strain 634b after the seed treatment with Standak Top – by 98.3 and 78.1 % and after Maxim XL – by 78.6 and 196.2 % respectively, during the stages of the second and third ternate leaves. Conclusions. The pre-sowing soybean seed treatment with fungicides Standak Top and Maxim XL and the subsequent inoculation with active rhizobia of strain 634b does not induce the development of lipid peroxidation processes, but increases the activity of the antioxidant enzyme, ascor- bate peroxidase, in the roots and root nodules, which is accompanied with the efficient work of the symbiotic apparatus on the early stages of determining legume-rhizobial symbiosis. This method of seed treatment may be a novel measure, to use in the technologies of cultivating soybeans to enhance the realization of the symbiotic potential and meet the needs of plants in ecologically friendly nitrogen, and to promote the formation of their tolerance to the corresponding cultivation conditions.

Sorghum bicolor L. Moench (Poaceae) is a cereal crop grown worldwide and playing an important role in human nutrition as well as feed for livestock. Lepidopteran stem borers are the most economically important insect pests that affect sorghum production and their management relies on the use of insecticide chemicals that have adverse effects on humans and biodiversity. The objective of this study was to investigate the endophytytic and pathogenic properties of Beauveria bassiana (Balsamo) Vuillemin as environmentally friendly, ecologically sound and sustainable bioncontrol method against Chilo partellus Swinhoe, one of the key stemborer of Sorghum in South Africa. In this study, 20 strains of Beauveria bassiana (Balsamo) Vuillemin were tested on sorghum cultivars Sugargraze AS 18, AS 79, AS 71 and PAN 8816 initially infested with Chilo partellus Swinhoe at 3rd instar larval stage. For the purpose, various strains of B. bassiana were inoculated in sorghum cultivars as foliar spray or seed treatment inoculum. At 30 and 60 days after the inoculation, the roots, stems and leaves of the cultivars were sampled to evaluate the endophytic property of each B. bassiana strain. Moreover, the 3rd instar larvae of C. partellus were fed with harvested stems previously colonized by the five best strains of B. bassiana to test their pathogenicity. Some 3rd instar larvae were fed with untreated stems (check). On both treated and untreated plants, number of dead larva was counted and recorded every seven days for 28 days interval. Results showed good endophytic ability of five B. bassiana strains (Bb3, Bb4, Bb10, Bb21 and Bb35) in the sorghum plants with varying degree of colonization and persistence in plant tissues, regardless the inoculation methods. An efficient and eco-friendly bioefficacy of potent Tricho-fusant (Fu21) and its green nanosilver formulation against stem rot (Sclerotium rolfsii) in groundnut was established. Fu21 demonstrated higher in-vitro growth inhibition of pathogen with better fungicide tolerance than the parental strains. The green nanosilver particles were synthesized from the extracellular metabolites of Fu21 and characterized for shape (spherical, 59.34 nm in scanning electron microscope), purity (3.00 KeV, energy dispersive X-ray analysis), size (54.3 nm in particle size analyzer), and stability (53.7 mv, zeta). The field efficacy study exhibited that the seedling emergence was high in seeds treated with green nanosilver (minimum inhibitory concentration-[MIC] 20 µg Ag/ml), and a low disease severity index of stem rot during the crop growth was followed by the live antagonist (Fu21) in addition to seed treatment with a fungicide mix under pathogen infestation. The seed quality analysis of harvested pods revealed a high oil content with balanced fatty acid composition (3.10 oleic/linoleic acid ratio) in green nanosilver treatment under pathogen infestation. The residual analysis suggested that green nanosilver applied at the MIC level as seed treatment yielded similar effects as the control for silver residue in the harvested groundnut seeds. The green nanosilver at MIC has a high pod-yield under S. rolfsii infestation, demonstrating green chemistry and sustainability of the nanoproduct.

Rice false smut, caused by the pathogen Ustilaginoidea virens, is a severe emerging disease in China. It affects not only the quality of rice but also yields of rice production. To make clear the effect of chemical seed treatment on the rice false smut control in fields, during 2014 to 2017, four fungicides with different modes of action were used to treat rice seeds contaminated by false smut balls. In rice-growing seasons, samples of rice tissues were taken for detection of U. virens by using a specific nested PCR method at different rice-growing stages. In addition, the occurrence of rice false smut was investigated at maturation stage. Results showed that U. virens in plant tissues decreased significantly at the seedling stage upon chemical seed treatment. Four chemical treatments decreased the detection rate significantly (P < 0.01) compared with the water treatment, but no significant difference was observed among four chemical treatments. However, the detection rate did not decease significantly at the tillering and booting stages. Similarly, the final occurrence of rice false smut did not show significant difference between each chemical and water treatment. These results suggested that chemical seed treatment had only limited efficacy in preventing occurrence of rice false smut; application of fungicides at the booting stage or integrated use of fungicides and agricultural practices might give a better control for this disease.

Groundnut and sesame are the economic commercial crops of India and need special attention for extended storage life due to its high demand and lesser multiplication ratio. The storage of oil seed is most critical both due to the presence of glycerides and amenability to fungal infections. The freshly harvested seeds of groundnut cv. TMV 13 obtained from Oilseeds Research Station, Tindivanam formed the base material for the study. The experiment was conducted at Oilseeds Research Station, Tindivanam during 2016-2017. The groundnut pods with initial moisture content of 8.0 per cent were conditioned to various treatments viz., T1- Control; T2 – Seeds treated with Halogen Vapour @3g/kg of seed; T3 – Seeds treated with Halo Polymer @3ml/kg of seed. After treating the seeds, the seeds were dried to the moisture content of eight per cent and packed in Super Grain Bag. Seeds were evaluated at bimonthly interval upto 6 six months of storage and from seventh month onwards it has been evaluated at monthly basis for its quality parameters viz., Germination Percentage, Root length (cm), Shoot length (cm), Dry matter production (g 10 seedling -1), Vigour index, Electrical Conductivity (dsm-1), Oil Content (Per cent) and Field Emergence (%). The groundnut as well as sesame seed treated with Halo polymer @3 ml/kg of seeds stored in super grain bag maintained better vigour and viability upto 10 months compared to other treatments under ambient condition. The groundnut maintained 53% and sesame maintained 85% at the end of ten months of storage.

The Field experiment was conducted in a Randomized block Design (RBD) with three replications during Rabi, 2020-2021 at Naini Agricultural Institute, Sam Higginbottom University of Agriculture Technology and Sciences, Prayagraj. The genetically pure seeds of Mustard variety Pusa-21 were used for the study. The mustard seeds primed with botanicals and chemicals( Vermiwash, Panchagavya, Azatobactor, NaCl , KNO3, Neem leaf, Parthenium leaf and FYM) were subjected to study in field experiment of growth and yield parameters were recorded. Objectives of the topic are to evaluate the Influence of bio fertilizer and organic seed treatment on growth, yield and yield attributing traits of mustard crop and to find out the suitable pre-sowing seed treatment for mustard crop. Analysis of variance revealed significant mean sum of squares due to seed priming treatments. The highest germination percent (88.89),plant height (132.53 cm), number of branches(12.60 per plant), yield attributing parameters in mustard as number of silique per plant (292.87), number of seeds per silique (18.73), seed yield per plant (17.73 gm/plant), seed yield per plot (214.33 gm/ plot), biological yield per plot (443.15/ plot), seed yield per hectare (2143.33 kg/ ha), biological yield per hectare (5140 kg/ ha) and harvest index (41.69) showing better result when treated with treatment vermiwash 5 % for 12 hours. Remaining treatments i.e, treatment with panchgavya 5 % & 3 %, azotobactor 3 % & 2 %, NaCl 0.5 % & 0.1 %, KNO3 0.5 % & 0.1 %, neem leaf extract, parthenium leaf extract for and fym 2 % for 12 hours recorded the second most effective treatments and observed significantly superior. It concluded that T8 (vermiwash 5% solution) found superior in all the growth and yield parameters.

Rice is the most important food crop and directly feeding more people than any other crop in the world.The blast disease caused by Pyricularia oryzae is a major and foremost constraint in rice production.Use of tricyclazole fungicide is one of the best and cost effective ways to quickly manage the disease. Considering the extensive use of fungicide has adverse effects for environment, the present study has been conducted to know the effect of Tricyclazole and Pseudomonas fluorescens alone and various combinations during rabi 2015-2016 and 2016-2017. From the two years data, the results indicated that a spray schedule consisting of tricyclazole followed by an alternate spray of Pseudomonas fluorescens (T + P + T + P), as well as either seed treatment with tricyclazole at 0.1 percent or root dipping with P. fluorescens at 1%, effectively reduced both leaf blast and neck blast with increasing grain yield.

Priming method is a presowing seed treatment which regulates the metabolic events in seed necessary for germination. Thus, the seed priming is a promising approach for improving seed germination and growth performances under diverse environmental conditions. This study was conducted in order to examine the effect of different priming agents (10−3 gibberellic acid—GA3, 10−3 indole-3-acetic acid—IAA, 2.5% KNO3, 1% MgSO4, 1% H2O2, 0.01% ascorbic acid (AA) and H2O) on germination, growth, vigor, relative water content, concentration of photosynthetic pigments, and protein content in wheat (Triticum aestivum L.), barley (Hordeum vulgare L.), and oat (Avena sativa L.). The obtained results showed an improved performance of wheat, barley, and oat due to seed priming compared to non-primed seed, but the effects depended on the tested cereal and the applied treatment. Overall, ascorbic acid can be regarded as a priming agent with the poorest performance. Treatments with GA3 and KNO3 exhibited the most significant effects on wheat and oat seed germination, growth and vigor, whereas GA3 and IAA were the most effective priming agents for barley. Priming seeds with GA3 significantly increased the values of the vigor index in all tested types of cereals. However, different priming treatments were effective for improvement of physiological performance of tested cereals. H2O2, and H2O contributed to the higher leaf water content, concentration of photosynthetic pigments, and protein content in wheat and barley, while these parameters were improved in oat by priming with MgSO4. In terms of tested parameters and diverse priming agents, oat can be regarded as the most responsive crop to priming compared to wheat and barley. It was concluded that the germination, growth, and physiological performance of wheat, barley, and oat could be improved by the priming method, but only by using the appropriate priming agent.

The field experiment entitled “Pre-sowing seed treatment with organic and inorganic treatments on growth, yield and yield attributes of desi chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.)”variety (Pusa-362) was conducted during rabi at Field Experimentation Centre of the Department of Genetics and Plant Breeding, Sam Higginbottom University of Agriculture, Technology & Sciences, Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, India during 2020 - 2021. The experiment consisted of 13 treatments which was laid in Randomized Block Design (RBD). Results revealed that seeds treated with T9 (vermiwash 6% solution) recorded maximum values in growth parameters viz., germination percentage at 4,7,14 DAS with 10.833%, 44.17, 74.17%, plant height at 30, 60, 90 DAS with 16.60, 41.00, 53.80 cm Days to flowering (74.67 days), number of branches 6.93 branches per plant, number of pods per plant with 36.10 pods per plant, number of seeds 52.30 seeds per plant and pod weight per plant with 24.49 gm. Similar results were observed in yield parameters where highest seed yield per plant was observed in T9 (vermiwash 6% solution) with 30.35 gm and seed yield per plot 171.7 gm.

The direct effect of Palmer amaranth, Amaranthus palmeri Watson, on cotton growth and development is well documented, but its indirect effect through harboring feeding insects is less understood. Palmer amaranth emerged with cotton and remaining in the field for 30 days increased tarnished plant bug, Lygus lineolaris (Palisot de Beauvois), populations compared with a weed-free system. Weedy systems noted up to 49% more damaged terminals than weed-free systems, with cotton yield decreasing as damaged terminals increased at one of two locations. Thrips (Thysanoptera: Thripidae) populations were effectively controlled with Aeris® (Bayer, St. Louis, MO) seed treatment (imidacloprid + thiodicarb at 0.375 mg active ingredient per seed), but there was no correlation between thrips infestations and increasing damaged cotton terminals. However, Aeris seed treatment significantly reduced the occurrence of damaged cotton terminals. In a second experiment, Palmer amaranth infesting an area adjacent to a weed-free cotton field had maximum damaged terminals of 51% on the cotton row proximal to the weedy area, with the distal cotton row (44 m away) having 8% terminal damage. Cotton yield significantly decreased as damaged terminals increased. A final bioassay experiment further evaluated the influence of seed treatment on tarnished plant bug feeding impacting cotton seedlings. With Aeris seed treatment, tarnished plant bug mortality was 97%, compared with 37% for nontreated seed. Results suggest tarnished plant bug infestations increased where Palmer amaranth was present in cotton fields. Additionally, greater Palmer amaranth infestations led to an increase in damaged cotton terminals and lower yields.

The Experiment was conducted in the field of Department of Genetics and Plant Breeding, Sam Higginbottom University of Agriculture, Technology and Sciences, Prayagraj (U.P.) during Rabi season 2020-2021, in order to standardize the suitable pre- sowing seed treatment for Mustard. Different pre- sowing seed treatments with control (Unhardened) were evaluated viz., T0– Control,T1- Mg(No3)2 @ 0.1%,T2- Mg(No3)2 @ 0.3%,T3- Mg(No3)2 @ 0.5%,T4- Ca(No3)2 @ 0.1%,T5- KNO3 @ 0.5%,T6- Mg(So4)2 @ 0.1%,T7- Mg(So4)2 @ 0.3%,T8- Mg(So4)2 @ 0.5%,T9- GA3 @ 25ppm,T10- GA3 @ 50ppm,T11- GA3 @ 75ppm,T12- PEG6000 @ 25ppm. It was found that the all pre-sowing seed treatments showed significance difference with control. Seed treatment with KNO3 @ 0.5% found to be highest in field emergence and yield attributes of Mustard and it was followed by GA3 @ 25ppm and Mg(No3)2 @ 0.1%. Pre- sowing seed treatment with KNO3 @ 0.5% and GA3 @ 25 ppm showed maximum increase yield of mustard seeds and found to be lowest in control seeds. Pre-sowing seed treatments of the mustard seeds in which KNO3 @ 0.5% gave best result to enhanced germinability, seed vigour, seed yield and yielding attributes. These conclusions are based on the results of six months investigation and therefore further investigation is needed to arrive at valid recommendations.

Increasing the productivity and quality of forage crops is a necessary condition for creating a solid feed base that will ensure the full feeding of farm animals. The paper considers the results of studies on the influence of mineral fertilizers and pre-sowing seed treatment with Raikat Start on the production processes of the Sudan grass of the Julia variety on chestnut soils in the Lower Volga region. It was found that the highest yield of green mass of Sudan grass 28.6 t / ha was formed on the variant with the introduction of mineral fertilizers at a dose of N120 P120 K90 + N30 and the growth stimulator Raikat Start, the increase to the control was 9.3 t / ha. This variant also showed a decrease in the fiber content and an increase in the proportion of pro-tein from 7.05 % in the first cut to 8.28 % in the third cut. The application of mineral fertilizers in the studied dose provided a green mass of Sudan grass that was safe for agricultural animals with a nitrate content of no more than 407 mg/kg.

This study aimed at understanding the uptake pathway of combined copper, zinc, and molybdenum applied to soybean (Glycine max (L.) Merrill) and maize (Zea mays (L.) seeds and their effect on seedling development. Two doses—2 and 4 mL kg−1 seeds—of a mixed copper, zinc, and molybdenum formulation were applied on both seed species, and process efficiency, i.e., how much of the applied solutions were transferred to the seeds, was determined. The spatial distribution of these nutrients was examined through microprobe X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy, and the effects on seed germination and seedling’s root and shoot development were recorded. Besides, the fraction of applied nutrients transferred from the seeds up to the seedlings tissues and the efficiency of the coating process were quantified. The results showed that seed treatments presented an overall efficiency of 70%. Most of the nutrients applied remained attached to the seed surface, i.e., seed coat or pericarp tissues in both species, being transferred to the soil afterwards. Only a tiny fraction of zinc, copper, and molybdenum was found in root and shoot tissues germinated from the coated seeds. The treatments did not impair seed germination or affected the content of the other mineral elements in the root and shoot tissues, although it had promoted a slight increase on maize’s root tissue length and dry mass. These results bring to light that the current seed treatment transfers part of the nutrients directly to the early developing seedling, while the remaining is precisely deposited in the soil volume where the root system will develop.

Soilborne Rhizoctonia, Microdochium, and Fusarium species are major causal agents of seedling and stem-base diseases of wheat. Currently, seed treatments are considered the most effective solution for their control. Rhizoctonia solani anastomosis groups (AGs) 2-1 and 5, R. cerealis, Microdochium, and Fusarium spp., were used in series of field experiments to determine their capability to cause soilborne and stem-base disease and to quantify their comparative losses in the establishment and yield of wheat. The effectiveness and response to seed treatment formulated with 10 g sedaxane and 5 g fludioxonil 100 kg−1 against these soilborne pathogens were also determined. Our results showed that damping-off caused by soilborne R. cerealis was associated with significant reductions in the emergence and establishment, resulting in stunted growth and low plant numbers. The pathogen also caused sharp eyespot associated with reductions in the ear partitioning index. R. solani AG 2-1 and AG 5 were weakly pathogenic and failed to cause significant damping-off, root rot, and stem-base disease in wheat. Fusarium graminearum and F. culmorum applied as soilborne inoculum failed to cause severe disease. Microdochium spp. caused brown foot rot disease and soilborne M. nivale reduced wheat emergence. Applications of sedaxane and fludioxonil increased plant emergence and reduced damping-off, early stem-base disease, and brown foot rot, thus providing protection against multiple soilborne pathogens. R. cerealis reduced the thousand grain weight by 3.6%, whereas seed treatment including fludioxonil and sedaxane against soilborne R. cerealis or M. nivale resulted in a 4% yield increase.

The results of a field experiment to study the effect of seed treatment with the biological product Rhizoactive (сompany BioNorma, Ukraine) on the formation and functioning of the symbiotic apparatus of common bean (grain) plants are presented. The experiment examined six varieties of common beans (grain), included in the State Register of plant varieties suitable for distribution in Ukraine: Bukovynka, Halaktyka, Slaviia, Ros, Otrada, Nata. The influence of bacterial fertilizer based on nodule bacteria " Rhizoactive " on the indicators of symbiotic and grain productivity of these varieties of common beans was studied. It was found, that the maximum number and raw weight of active nodules in the studied varieties of common beans were formed in the flowering phase. A larger number of nodules, compared to the variety Bukovynka (control), was formed on the root system of bean varieties Ros, Otrada and Nata. The maximum raw weight of rhizobia in the plots without the use of Rhizoactive was formed by the common bean variety Otrada – 0.297 g/plant of active nodules. Inoculation of the seeds of the studied common bean varieties with Rhizoactive increased the raw weight of active nodules in the flowering phase by 0.016–0.042 g/plant. A larger mass of nodules, compared to the Bukovynka variety, was formed on the root system of Ros, Otrada and Nata beans. The maximum raw weight of rhizobia in areas without the use of Rhizoactive was formed by the variety of beans Otrada – 0.297 g/plant of active nodules. Inoculation of seeds of the studied varieties of beans with Rhizoactive increased the raw weight of active nodules in the flowering phase by 0.016–0.042 g/plant. The highest increase in grain yield from seed inoculation was obtained in 2018, which was more favorable in terms of moisture. Thus, the largest increase in grain yield from the use of Rhizoactive was provided by the varieties Halaktyka (0.14 t/ha or 5.7 %), Ros (0.15 t/ha or 5.5 %) and Otrada (0.22 t/ha or 7.7 %). On average, in 2018–2020, inoculation of bean seeds with Rhizoactive, depending on the variety, provided an increase in grain yield from 2.4 to 6.7 %. And the highest level of bean grain yield on average in 2018–2020 was provided by the varieties Otrada (2.60 t/ha), Nata (2.50 t/ha) and Ros (2.40 t/ha) for inoculation of seeds with Rhizoactive

Cereal cyst nematode (Heterodera avenae), an important plant-parasitic nematode causing yield losses of wheat, has been found in many provinces in China. It is urgent to develop an effective method of protecting wheat from H. avenae damage. Because of its novel mode of action, fluopyram has been registered for controlling root-knot nematodes on cucumber and tomato in China. However, the bioactivity of fluopyram against H. avenae and whether this seed treatment can effectively control H. avenae on wheat remains unknown. In this study, a bioactivity assay revealed that fluopyram increased the mortality of H. avenae second-stage juveniles (J2), with lethal concentrations (LC) required to kill 50% (LC50) and 90% (LC90) of 0.92 mg⋅liter−1 and 2.92 mg⋅liter−1, respectively. Hatching tests showed that the H. avenae egg hatching percent was reduced by 35.2 to 69.2% with fluopyram at rates of 1.6 to 6.4 mg⋅liter−1, and that the egg hatching period was delayed by 3 to 9 days compared with the control. During pot and field trials, fluopyram seed treatment significantly reduced the H. avenae population density and increased wheat yield by 3.0 to 13.7%. Therefore, fluopyram seed treatment is an effective approach for the management of H. avenae on wheat in China.

The effect of different doses and modes of low-energy electron irradiation of cucumber seeds (cvs. Nezhinskiy and Izyashchniy differing in their earliness and disease resistance) on the viability of their phytopathogenic microflora has been investigated under laboratory conditions. Seeds were treated within a dose range from 1 to 5 kGy with the 1-kGy increment at two accelerating voltages, 100 (mode I) and 130 kV (mode II), and one dosage rate (100 Gy/pulse). Seeds of the cv. Nezhinskiy were put for germination 6 and 30 days after the treatment, while seeds of the cv. Izyashchniy were put for germination 6 and 7 days after the treatment. In the case of a 6-day postradiation period (PP), the level of antracnose affection of seedlings of the cv. Nezhinskiy was reduced at the doses equal to 1, 3, and 4 kGy (mode I) and 3 kGy (mode II) but increased at 5 kGy (mode II). At the PP duration equal to 30 days, the seed treatment at the dose of 1 kGy inhibited the development of Fusarium wilt on cucumber seedlings (cv. Nezhinskiy) irrespectively of the irradiation mode but increased the level of the disease development at a dose of 2–4 kGy in the mode II. In the case of the cv. Izyashchniy and PP duration equal to 6 days, the treatment reduced the level of seedling affection with Fusarium wilt at all doses excepting 5 kGy in the mode II. In general, compared to the mode II, the treatment of seeds in the mode I resulted in more significant reduction of the plant affection level. At a PP value equal to 7 days, the disease affection level, as well as disease prevalence, increased at a dose of 2 kGy in the mode I as well as at 1, 2, and 4 kGy in the mode II.

Aim. The investigation of the influence of the constituents of Izatison, DMSO and PEG400, on the oat growth and its grain productivity during 2 generations after the seed treatment became the aim of this study for the elucidation of mechanism of Izatison stimulant influence. Methods. The broad scale of the concentrations of the solvents composition in the proportion, to be as in Izatison, was used. The plants were grown in the field. The growth processes were evaluated by the stem height on the tubing stage. The grain productivity was characterized by the panicle length, the grains number in the panicle and of theirs weight. Results. The dependence of influence of the solvents composition on the stem growth from its concentration was detected in the first generation. In some variants the negative influence was revealed on the grains number in the panicle and on theirs weight. The stimulation of the growth regardless from the solvents concentration was observed in the second generation and the more pronounced negative effect on the grain productivity. Conclusions. The solvents DMSO and PEG400 are able to influence on the oat growth and its productivity, and that effect was manifested also in 2 generation after the seed treatment. The role of women has always been a multi-dimensional and significant as women have performed well in case of agricultural activities, domestic activities, marketing activities as far as labour requirement is considered. The decision-making process is an important segment of every household because the functioning of family resource management depends on the efficiency of decision-making progress. So, women involvement in decision-making process has been of great importance because sampling method to make a sample of 120 respondents. Hence finally the sampling consisted of 120 respondents. More number of farm women were found to have level of decision making process: the highest decision making behavior in sowing followed by winnowing process, seed processing, irrigation management , collection of harvested crop, storage, field preparation, selection of seed/variety, marketing, Manures and fertilizer application, weeding, harvesting, seed treatment, Pest and disease management and soil testing. Commercial essential oils (EO) obtained from different parts of black cumin (N. sativa), mustard (S. nigra), St. John’s wort (H. perforatum), garlic (A. sativum), grape (V. vinifera), and ginger (Z. officinale) plants were evaluated for in vivo anti-mildew activity against pathotypes ‘771’ and ‘773’ of P.halstedii. The EOs were examined at concentrations of 0.2%, 0.4%, and 0.6% in susceptible sunflower variety ‘08-TR-003’ as seed, foliar, and seed + foliar treatments.It was concluded that seed treatments could be applicable and appropriate, due to the phytotoxic effects of foliar treatments at increasing concentrations. Moreover, it was observed that seed treatments with St. John’s wort, mustard, grape, ginger, or garlic EOs at a concentration of 0.6% exhibited anti-mildew activity with a decrease in sporangium quantity above 80% for pathotypes ‘771’ and ‘773’. Seed treatment with grape EO had the highest anti-mildew activity at a concentration of 0.6% and was found to be the most effective with a decrease in sporangium quantity above 90% for both pathotypes of the pathogen.

Non-thermal plasmas (NTP) are partially ionized gases that represent a promising technology for seed treatment to enhance seed health while promoting germination and vigor in a fast, cost-effective, and eco-friendly way. The seed treatment with NTP generates phenotypic variations in plants that could be related to changes in DNA methylation. This work analyses the effects of two different NTP: nitrogen for 3 min (PMN3) and oxygen for 2 min (PMO2) applied to soybean (Glycine max) seeds. Growth parameters of plants grown from treated and untreated seeds were evaluated at two growth stages: 6 and 20 days after sowing (DAS). MSAP (Methylation Sensitive Amplified Polymorphism) markers were assayed to evaluate epigenetic changes induced by NTP treatments. Plants obtained from PMN3 and PMO2-treated seeds were phenotypically similar to each other: exhibited a superior growth at both stages. At 6 DAS root and shoot length and fresh weight surpassed the Control, while at 20 DAS root length and fresh and dry weight were higher than Control. PMN3 and PMO2 induced DNA methylation changes with respect to the Control plants, with higher differentiation at 20 DAS than at 6 DAS. The epigenetic variability and the phenotypic variability correlated only at 20 DAS (R2 = 0.5). The observed phenotypic differences among Control and NTP-treated plants could not be explained by overall changes in the methylation levels, but both demethylation and methylation changes at specific loci appear to be operating in response to NTP treatments.

The results of experimental studies to determine the actual changes in stem height, plant productivity and sunflower yield depending on the plant density and different variants of retardant application are presented in the article. The research was carried out in a model field experiment with a density gradient from 19.84 to 160.0 thousand plant / ha. The aim of the research was to determine the optimal parameters of the crop structure of new sunflower Choral hybrid in the technology with retardant application. It has been established that the optimal variant for ensuring the technological parameters of the plant height of the Choral hybrid in the northeastern Forest-Steppe of Ukraine was the complex application of Moddus retardant according to the scheme "seed treatment + plant treatment in the phase of 8-10 leaves". To maintain the basic level of yield, it is proposed to increase the calculated indicators of the final (pre-harvest) crop density from 56.5 to 73.1 thousand plants / ha.

Plant-based screening experiments were conducted with the aim of identifying biocontrol bacteria and fungi for seed treatment of maize. Candidate microorganisms were evaluated for their protective effects against soilborne infections by species of Fusarium, Globisporangium (syn. Pythium) and Rhizoctonia. The microorganisms tested were bacteria and fungi from maize roots or other sources, including some active microbial components of commercial biocontrol products. Due to the method of isolation chosen, the majority of bacteria from maize roots were spore formers, most of them species of the genera Bacillus,Brevibacillus and Paenibacillus. In pot tests with the potting substrate inoculated with F. culmorum, the level of control provided by seed treatment with the most efficacious bacterial and fungal isolates was comparable or close to the chemical reference seed treatment thiram. The most effective bacteria were species of Pseudomonas, Burkholderia and Streptomyces. Among a subset of approx. 100 bacteria studied, the in vivo and in vitro activities against F.culmorum were only weakly correlated, although some strains deviated from this pattern. The most effective fungi were two strains of Clonostachys rosea and isolates of Trichoderma. The latter and a strain of Gliocladium virens provided also protection against R.solani. Activity against Globisporangium ultimum was recorded for one isolate of Trichoderma and the two strains of C. rosea. A reduction in the impact of seedborne F. culmorum was also observed after seed treatment with two strains of F. oxysporum f. sp. strigae. The results are discussed in relation to previous reports on rhizosphere bacteria of maize and their use in biocontrol of plant pathogens or for plant growth promotion.

Seed potatoes in North America are predominantly cut and treated with a fungicide seed potato treatment before planting. Though seed potatoes that have been cut and fungicide-treated have been shown to perform as well or better than single drop seed (whole tubers in the range of 43–85 g) without fungicide seed treatment, no comparisons were made with single-drop seed that had been treated with a fungicide seed treatment. Here we present results from field experiments conducted in Bingham County, Idaho over ten consecutive years (2008–2017) using potato cultivar ‘Russet Burbank’ where both cut and single drop seed were first inoculated with isolates of Fusarium spp. and then treated with a fungicide seed treatment containing both fludioxonil and mancozeb. Single-drop seed outperformed cut seed with respect to emergence, vigor, and Fusarium seed decay, yield of large tubers, and total yield. However, the fungicide seed treatment offered a larger measure of improvement in terms of Fusarium seed decay and Rhizoctonia stem canker. The boost in yield of US No. 1 grade tubers for single drop seed (1.09 t/ha) was smaller than the increase due to an application of a commercial formulation of a mancozeb plus fludioxonil fungicide seed potato treatment (2.34 t/ha). Thus, the most important factor to consider, regardless of seed type, is use of a fungicide seed treatment.

Trigonella foenum-graecum L. is a widely used herb in traditional medicine. The aim of this study was to evaluate the genetic polymorphisms in fenugreek plants following the treatment of fenugreek seeds with different combinations of biotic and abiotic agents using the random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD)-PCR technique. We assessed the effects of two strains of the fungus Trichoderma harzianum (Th-1 and Th-2), methyl jasmonate (MeJA), and Aloe vera gel (AVG) on growth parameters of fenugreek plants. Combinations of Th-1, MeJA, AVG significantly increased fenugreek root length, shoot length, shoot fresh weight, number of true leaves, and chlorophyll content. The Th-2 isolate, on the other hand, markedly slowed plant development (except for root length which was not affected significantly). In contrast, the combination with MeJA had no considerable effect on all growth measures, whereas the combination with VAG resulted in a substantial drop in shoot height and chlorophyll content when compared to other growth parameters that were unaffected. The present study has shown that the PCR amplification of DNA, using five primers for RAPD analysis, produced 62 DNA fragments that could be scored in all genotypes. The total number of polymorphic bands was 26, and the average percentage of polymorphism was 54.21%. The RAPD-PCR results showed that the treatment of fenugreek seeds with Th-1 alone or in combination with MeJA and AVG induced polymorphisms in fenugreek leaves.
