The antioxidant activity of all organic extracts of Alyssum sibiricum Willd. growing in Trakya Region was investigated and the chemical content of hexane extract was identified by GC-MS this study. For this purpose, Alyssum sibiricum was extracted with hexane, chloroform, ethyl acetate and methanol successively. The antioxidant activity of the extracts was investigated using DPPH, ABTS, β-Carotene-linoleic acid decolorization activity and CUPRAC methods. Methanolic extract showed the highest antioxidant activity in all methods. According to the GC-MS results of A. sibiricum plant, 41 components were detected. n-Docosan (23.24%), palmitic acid (15.02%), lauric acid (7.67%) and 1-hexadecanol (5.82%) were identified as the major components. It is anticipated that this study will provide insights that will inform future research on the isolation of antioxidant compounds and the elucidation of their structures. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
