Abstract

Presents a standardised admission ratio for measuring widening participation in British medical schools. How there is currently no system in place by which medical schools can measure their accountability to widen the acceptability of students for higher education; Reporting of students by ethnicity, socioeconomic class and gender; Reasons a quantitative index is needed; How data was collected for the study; Results which showed the difficulty for students from a lower social class to get into a medical school; Sex specific admission ratios which did not vary significantly by gender but did by socioeconomic factors; Massive inequalities in admissions by social class.

Abstract

This article presents the results of a new survey which shows British gay men and lesbians have fatter paychecks compared with their straight counterparts, as of February 2006. Their earnings are now pegged at nearly $125 billion annually. The sexual orientation gap as measured in annual pay. Gay men earn $60,922 annually compared to straight men who earn $43,213 annually. Meanwhile, lesbians earn $44,185 annually compared to straight women who earn $33,059 annually.
