The article focuses on the logical and conceptual problems related to community, society and institutions in the U.S. Communal groups have their own group norms and other characteristics. It should be distinguished from all other types of groups in the community. Meanwhile, institutional subsystems of behavior are the functional product of various differing types of group structures. On the other hand, the problem of the relationship between the concept of community and the community institution is fully as old as the problem regarding the distinction between community and society.

The article discusses the study on the impact of sociology in the reconstruction of community theory. The author employed an operational model which involved a conception of community as an organizational manifestation of the basic culture of a society on an interconnected and hierarchically stratified series of levels. Through the aid of the specific model of communal organization, observations and measurements were carried out concerning the emersion and institutionalization of community organization. Finally, it was revealed that a body of sociological facts are necessary to permit the establishment of a systematic theory and a genuine comparative science of community.
