The research focused on to find out a new cementitious composite material with satisfactory thermal properties by using agricultural waste. Aerogel is a commonly available agricultural waste which are extracted from rice husk. It is a nano porous light weight material with excellent thermal properties. The aerogels are synthesized from rice husk mainly by using Sol – gel method. Addition of aerogel in mortar formulated "aerogel incorporated mortar "(AIM) and the cement-based material containing aerogel called in terms "aerogel incorporated concrete" (AIC). XRD, SEM, TEM, BET AND MIP are the analysis techniques used in order to examine characterization of aerogel in cement-based composite. Aerogel is a worthy candidate that holds awesome mechanical strength and has a great potential in building a structure with perfect thermal properties. From studies it is crystal clearly that further research based on this helps to provides a green material. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
