STATE power , *COVID-19 , *GOVERNMENTALITY , *PASTORAL societies , *MACHINERY - Abstract
The purpose of this article is to show the emergence of the concept of government in Foucault's concept of power, and to apply it to the current contingency of COVID-19. Government and power operate in tandem, although they maintain their differences. The former focuses on the care of men; the latter is concerned with the relations of force that traverse and control them. Both comprise surveillance mechanisms that operate tactically and strategically. They do not refer to a prohibitive issue or care of the territory, but there is a whole machinery that intervenes in a shrewd way on men. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective: to evaluate the knowledge of nursing students about sexually transmitted infections. Method: exploratory cross-sectional study conducted in September and October 2020. The population consisted of 221 students from all semesters of the nursing course of a private college in the state of São Paulo. The sample of 75 students was for convenience and non-probabilistic. A self-applicable instrument was used based on the “Pesquisa de Comportamentos, Atitudes e Práticas da População Brasileira sobre IST” of the Ministério da Saúde. Results: the students (69 – 92.0%) were female, with a mean age of 20.0 years and 56 (74.7%) had active sexual life. Most knew the signs and symptoms, forms of transmission and prevention measures for sexually transmitted infections. Condom use was considered unnecessary in sexual relations with a steady partner. Conclusion: the students’ knowledge was adequate, but it is still necessary to stimulate self-care and reduce unsafe sexual practices. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Bullying at school is a worldwide phenomenon. Observers are central to understanding the phenomenon and developing preventive actions. Objective: To know the experience of students identified as witnesses of bullying situations. Methodology: Qualitative and exploratory study developed in a Brazilian school, in the light of the Social cognitive theory. Twenty students aged between 13 and 18 years participated. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and focus groups. Thematic analysis was applied to the data. Results: The prevalence rate of students who observed bullying was 64%. Participants have good knowledge about bullying, assess aggressive behavior as negative or harmful, but this understanding does not translate into a sense of self-efficacy and actions to help victims. A thematic category was built -- Taking action, reinforcing and feeling -- "What was also motivating the aggressor to do this is the audience". Conclusion: The students' experience is marked by individual, school and contextual issues. Implications for primary health care are spelled out. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

PERSONALITY , *BEHAVIORAL assessment , *LOSS of consciousness , *VICTIMS , *SCHOOL children , *BULLYING - Abstract
The Callous-Unemotional personality it is well examined among bullying aggressors, however little is known regarding this characteristic in victims. The present study aimed to investigate the insensibility and coldness in children living under bullying circumstances. Sixty children of the 6° school grade took part in the study, divided in groups of aggressors (n=15), victims (n=15), bully-victims (n=15), and a control group (n=15). Personality and behavior assessment scales were applied. Results revealed that victims showed a lower level of Callous-Unemotional personality compared to other groups, and also presented a higher level of pro-social behavior. It turns necessary to investigate if lower levels of those personality traits are associated to a higher passivity in victims and, consequently, to a greater probability of being target of bullying. Introduction: Social networks provide young people with the opportunity to be in touch with society and their environment, for which they spend a great amount of time to seek acceptance from their peers. Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive correlational study was conducted on a sample of 400 students. Two questionnaires were used to collect information. For variable comparison, Spearman's rank correlation coefficient and Chi-squared test were used. Results: 354 (88.5%) of university students have a mobile device with internet connection; 184 (46%) use 3 to 4 social networks and 196 (49%) use them for about 1 to 4 hours a day. 157 (39.2%) claimed that their studies were not affected by using social networks. As for general health, Colombians scored 58.5 and Mexicans 38.3 on a scale of 0 to 100. Discussion: Young people spend most of their time using social networks, being particularly interested in social relationships with their peers. Some studies suggest an association between internet misuse and physical and psychosocial health problems. Conclusions: Social network use behavior and quality of life perception are similar in Colombia and Mexico. In addition, social networks are moderately used as an academic and socialization tool. There is a need for opportunities to share with peers in which social networks are not used as a mediator. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective: to verify the epidemiological profile of the population with cancer in Cacoal - Rondônia, Brazil. Method: documentary, retrospective and quantitative study based on secondary data from medical records between 2012 and 2018, in an oncology center. Results: 52.48% are female, 29.60% had incomplete primary education, however, 32.16% did not have information on schooling. Regarding skin color, 38.72% were white and 40.64% were ignored. Most were from the urban area (82.72%). Prostate cancer (15.04%) and breast cancer (12%) prevailed. Regarding treatment, 35.20% underwent chemotherapy and 42.40% radiotherapy. Regarding the evolution of patients, there was no cure or discharge information in the medical records. Conclusion: it was noticed that the incidence of cancer in the population of Cacoal is 7.95 cases for every 1000 (thousand) inhabitants. Given the above, the importance of prevention campaigns that are carried out over the years, with strategies for early detection, identifying signs, symptoms and lesions suggestive of cancer, is emphasized. Materials and Methods: A quantitative cross-sectional study of correlational-analytical type was conducted with a sample of 187 students from IV to VIII level of a nursing degree in a higher education institution in Bucaramanga, to whom the self-care agency scale was applied. This scale is used to measure nursing knowledge, attitude and practice involving biological hazards. Results: There is a significant relationship between self-care agency and attitudes (p<0.05). On the other hand, regular self-care agency is shown in 79.1% of the students. There is no statistically significant relationship between sociodemographic variables and the self-care agency through the chi-squared test. Discussion: The results found in this study coincide with those found by other researchers who state that self-care agency is kept at a regular level in most of the population. Conclusions: A relationship was demonstrated between self-care agency and attitudes regarding biological hazards in students, which confirms the importance of nursing work to strengthen favorable behavior towards their self-care. - Abstract
Every day we make decisions that influence how others perceive us, which can be interpreted in terms of motives of self-presentation. The objective of this work was to obtain psychometric data of adaptation in Spanish of the self-presentation in exercise questionnaire (SPEQ), based on statistical procedures such as the analysis of its factorial structure, internal consistency and convergence validity. Participants were 412 people with an average chronological age of 20.80 years (SD = 3.52), who answered the instrument. The results rejected the factorial structure with 19 items, as well as the composite structure of 11 and eight items. However, it confirmed the two-factor structure (impression motivation, impression construction) of a reconstruction of the questionnaire composed of eight items. This model confirmed the discriminant validity, the internal consistency of both factors and the convergent validity of the printing motivation. Greater review of the items and psychometric evaluation is needed to improve the instrument. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Introduction: The Art of Maternal Womb Painting is a technique applied to the abdomen of the pregnant woman in which the imaginary baby and other elements related to the pregnancy are represented objectively. This research aimed to understand the meaning of the experience of the Art of Maternal Womb Painting for pregnant women. Materials and Methods: Exploratory study, before and after, qualitative, developed in Curitiba, Paraná, Brazil. The group studied included 10 pregnant women, with gestational age of 24 weeks or more. The collected data involved: Art of Maternal Womb Painting, photography, field diary and interviews, analyzed based on the thematic content analysis, by Laurence Bardin. Results: Two categories emerged: 1) The Art of Maternal Womb Painting promotes experiences of the subjective core of attachment or love; 2) Positive maternal behaviors generated by the Art of Maternal Womb Painting. Discussion: The interpretation of the data, based on the theory of Condon, made it possible to elaborate a hierarchical model of the subjective experience of the attachment or love of the pregnant woman with the baby, mediated by the Art of Maternal Womb Painting. This artistic technique, associated with a humanist approach, is a good care option to be implemented in maternal health care. Conclusions: The meaning recognized by pregnant women who experienced of the Art of Maternal Womb Painting indicates that the technique promoted the subjective core experience of attachment or love with the baby, elucidating its potential in promoting antenatal attachment. Objective. To assess the association between breastfeeding duration and externalizing behaviors in childhood and adolescence. Methods. Data from the 1993 Pelotas Birth Cohort was used. Information on breastfeeding was assessed at 12 months of age. Behavior was assessed at 4 years of age using the Child Behavior Checklist (CBCL), and at ages 11 and 15 years using the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ), both administered to the mother or caretaker. Of 5 249 cohort participants, those with complete data on breastfeeding and externalizing behaviors were included: 630 children at 4 years of age, 1 277 adolescents at 11 years, and 1 199 at 15 years. Poisson regression with robust variance was used to assess the association between breastfeeding duration and externalizing behaviors. Results. After adjustment for confounders, children who were breastfed for least 6 months had lower risk of hyperactivity (RR = 0.54; 95%CI: 0.32-0.91) at age 11 compared to those breastfed for less than 1 month. However, no association was observed between breastfeeding duration and externalizing behaviors at ages 4 and 15. Conclusions. Although breastfeeding for at least 6 months was inversely associated with hyperactivity at 11 years of age no association was observed at 4 and 15 years of age. Further longitudinal studies should focus on other aspects influencing externalizing behaviors, such as presence of the father in the family, domestic violence and abuse, and the quality of mother-child relationship. AAs became popular among competitive athletes and the general population for recreational and performance purposes. The indiscriminate use of AAs occurs in supraphysiological doses and negatively affects cognition. Moreover, nandrolone decanoate (DECA) abuse may reduce the beneficial effects of resistance training (RT) on health. Objective: We aimed to investigate if DECA administration in supraphysiological doses interferes with the positive effects of RT on anxious behavior, memory, and morphology of neurons in the hippocampus of rats. Materials and Methods: Rats were randomly assigned into four groups (N= 12): Control (C); DECA (D); Trained (T) Trained+DECA (TD). EAA DECA was administered in daily supraphysiological doses of 15mg/kg during the 8 weeks of the RT protocol. All groups performed a maximum load test before and after the RT protocol; anxious behavior and memory tests were performed, and thereafter, rats were euthanized for morphologic analyses of the hippocampus. DECA produced an anxiogenic effect, worsened cognition and reduced the thickness of the grainy layer of the DG in the hippocampus. Moreover, DECA reduced the positive effects of RT on cognition and DG neurons. This is the first study showing that suprapharmacological doses of DECA reduce the positive effects of RT on memory and the thickness of the granular layer of the DG.

OBJECTIVE: to analyze the action and coping plans related to the behavior of adhering to drug therapy, developed by coronary heart disease (CHD) outpatients, and to identify the barriers perceived to adopting this behavior. METHODS: the participants (n=59) were invited to formulate action plans and coping plans for the behavior of adhering to the cardio-protective medications and the symptom-relief medications. RESULTS: specific action plans for taking the medications associated with temporal markers and the sleep-wake cycle were shown. The most frequently reported obstacles were forgetfulness and absence of routine in daily living activities. The coping plans for overcoming forgetfulness were the most specific. CONCLUSION: this study's findings support the application of implementation intentions aimed at optimizing adherence to drug therapy among patients with CHD.OBJETIVO: analizar los planes de acción y de enfrentamiento de obstáculos relacionados al comportamiento de adhesión a la terapia medicamentosa, elaborados por pacientes con coronariopatía en seguimiento de ambulatorio e identificar las barreras percibidas para adopción de este comportamiento. Behavior and motivation for physical activity (PA) were assessed among 144 coronary heart disease outpatients according to the sociodemographic and clinical profile. The sample was predominantly male (63.9%), with 59.4(± 8.8) years, with low levels of monthly income and schooling. Behavior and Habitual PA measures revealed sedentary lifestyle with high motivation for future PA. Women, patients with history of angina and non-smokers reported lower levels of behavior and motivation. Higher age, lower income, lower number of associated conditions, less time since last coronary syndrome and higher values of BMI were associated to lower levels of PA. The findings suggest that the pattern of PA and motivation vary among CHD outpatients according to sociodemographic and clinical profile, information that should be considered in educational interventions.
