Objective: Physicians experience scary cases in the course of usual medical practice. Cases of near misses, legal and ethical dilemmas, or unique clinical challenges are great sources of education. However, there is no format for presentation and dissemination of cases that do not meet criteria for morbidity and mortality (M&M) conferences. The Scary Cases Conference is an innovative educational forum for scrutiny and analysis of these challenging clinical cases. Scary Cases differs from traditional Morbidity and Mortality conferences as it explores outcomes beyond the scope of medical or surgical errors. Methods: From 2011 to 2021: 11 regional and 10 national "Otolaryngology Scary Cases" conferences and mini-seminars were held. The cases presented were analyzed for case specialty, area of management deemed troublesome, and compared to M&M conference criteria. Results: 187 cases were presented. 62% percent of cases included traditional medical problems, whereas 21% involved legal issues, and 17% focused on ethical dilemmas. For the cases with medical problems, 31% involved airway obstruction, 17% nerve injuries, and 17% malignancy. 49% of cases would have met criteria for presentation at traditional M&M conferences. Of all the "scary cases," 25% were near misses and 26% represented ethical or legal dilemmas which would not be classified as morbitidy, mortality, or near miss. Conclusions: The Scary Cases provides a forum conducive to learning amongst peers and experts. It allows medical and surgical specialties to share the cases deemed most impactful. Introduction: The 2024 Voice AI Symposium, presented by the Bridge2AI-Voice Consortium, featured deep-dive educational workshops conducted by experts from diverse fields to explore the latest advancements in voice biomarkers and artificial intelligence (AI) applications in healthcare. Through five workshops, attendees learned about topics including international standardization of vocal biomarker data, real-world deployment of AI solutions, assistive technologies for voice disorders, best practices for voice data collection, and deep learning applications in voice analysis. These workshops aimed to foster collaboration between academia, industry, and healthcare to advance the development and implementation of voice-based AI tools. Methods: Each workshop featured a combination of lectures, case studies, and interactive discussions. Transcripts of audio recordings were generated using Whisper (Version 7.13.1) and summarized by ChatGPT (Version 4.0), then reviewed by the authors. The workshops covered various methodologies, from signal processing and machine learning operations (MLOps) to ethical concerns surrounding AI-powered voice data collection. Practical demonstrations of AI-driven tools for voice disorder management and technical discussions on implementing voice AI models in clinical and non-clinical settings provided attendees with hands-on experience. Results: Key outcomes included the discussion of international standards to unify stakeholders in vocal biomarker research, practical challenges in deploying AI solutions outside the laboratory, review of Bridge2AI-Voice data collection processes, and the potential of AI to empower individuals with voice disorders. Additionally, presenters shared innovations in ethical AI practices, scalable machine learning frameworks, and advanced data collection techniques using diverse voice datasets. The symposium highlighted the successful integration of AI in detecting and analyzing voice signals for various health applications, with significant advancements in standardization, privacy, and clinical validation processes. Discussion: The symposium underscored the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration to address the technical, ethical, and clinical challenges in the field of voice biomarkers. While AI models have shown promise in analyzing voice data, challenges such as data variability, security, and scalability remain. Future efforts must focus on refining data collection standards, advancing ethical AI practices, and ensuring diverse dataset inclusion to improve model robustness. By fostering collaboration among researchers, clinicians, and technologists, the symposium laid a foundation for future innovations in AI-driven voice analysis for healthcare diagnostics and treatment. Background: Despite advances in temporomandibular disorders' (TMDs) diagnosis, the diagnostic process continues to be problematic in non‐specialist settings. Objective: To complete a Delphi process to shorten the Diagnostic Criteria for TMD (DC/TMD) to a brief DC/TMD (bDC/TMD) for expedient clinical diagnosis and initial management. Methods: An international Delphi panel was created with 23 clinicians representing major specialities, general dentistry and related fields. The process comprised a full day workshop, seven virtual meetings, six rounds of electronic discussion and finally an open consultation at a virtual international symposium. Results: Within the physical axis (Axis 1), the self‐report Symptom Questionnaire of the DC/TMD did not require shortening from 14 items for the bDC/TMD. The compulsory use of the TMD pain screener was removed reducing the total number of Axis 1 items by 18%. The DC/TMD Axis 1 10‐section examination protocol (25 movements, up to 12 sets of bilateral palpations) was reduced to four sections in the bDC/TMD protocol involving three movements and three sets of palpations. Axis I then resulted in two groups of diagnoses: painful TMD (inclusive of secondary headache), and common joint‐related TMD with functional implications. The psychosocial axis (Axis 2) was shortened to an ultra‐brief 11 item assessment. Conclusion: The bDC/TMD represents a substantially reduced and likely expedited method to establish (grouping) diagnoses in TMDs. This may provide greater utility for settings requiring less granular diagnoses for the implementation of initial treatment, for example non‐specialist general dental practice. The purpose of this study was to assess the behaviors, attitudes, and beliefs of attendees of a chiropractic research conference (which included chiropractic students, clinicians, researchers, and educators) toward chronic low back pain (CLBP) before and after a biopsychosocial (BPS)–based CLBP educational workshop. This single-arm intervention study used the Health Care Providers' Pain and Relationship Scale (HC-PAIRS) and CLBP-related clinic vignettes to assess behaviors, attitudes, and beliefs toward CLBP before and after a single 90-minute educational workshop. The HC-PAIRS is a self-reporting questionnaire that consists of 15 items rated on a 7-point rating scale, with a higher score suggesting a belief that pain is linked to movement and that recommendations should be given to avoid physical activities. The pre-education intervention HC-PAIRS and vignettes were completed by 40 of 56 attendees. A total of 18 participants completed the posteducation intervention HC-PAIRS and CLBP-related clinical vignettes. Most of participants identified as full-time clinicians, employees of the United States Department of Veterans Affairs, and musculoskeletal/neuromusculoskeletal providers. The pre-education intervention HC-PAIRS mean score was 44.8 (SD 9.22), and the postscore was 39.5 (SD 6.49). Findings suggest an immediate change in HC-PAIRS scores following a BPS-focused CLBP education intervention for a chiropractic audience. The Supreme Court of India has directed the National Medical Commission to find out the rationality of conducting live surgical workshops during medical conferences several times without any clear guidelines or directives. Whilst live surgical workshops are great learning tools for young surgeons, there exists a risk of a breach of patient confidentiality and safety. Do the pros outweigh the cons is to be addressed. The time may be ripe to explore other options like live operations on simulators with the scenario manipulated by Artificial Intelligence (AI), to make it more a real, challenging experience for surgical trainees. Aim: To explore nurses' experiences and perspectives about evidence‐based practice (EBP) implementation in the healthcare context. Design: A qualitative descriptive study design using focus group discussions (FGDs). Method: Sixty‐four nurses who purposefully selected and worked at various healthcare organizations in Bisha Governorate, Saudi Arabia, were included. Eight FGDs were used to obtain data using open‐ended questions. The collected data underwent inductive qualitative content analysis. Results: Two main categories were extracted: experiences and perspectives towards EBP. The experiences category emerged into four sub‐categories: familiarity with concepts and benefits, steps, dissemination sources of EBP and sources of EBP knowledge, while perspectives towards the EBP category included four sub‐categories: application of EBP in clinical practice, barriers, facilitators and EBP application methods. The participants experienced being in a non‐supportive and non‐encouraging atmosphere which results from a lack of organizational commitment to EBP implementation and illuminates the complexities involved in the integration process. Conclusion: The nurses' experience with EBP indicated that there was limited support for the implementation of this approach. Furthermore, they experienced varying barriers to EBP implementation. They viewed EBP as a complex technique as they lacked knowledge and skills related to the formulation of research questions, and retrieving, applying and disseminating of EBP in clinical practice decision‐making. That is due to barriers pertinent to the individual, organizational and patient factors. The key to successfully implementing an EBP in nursing practice is to promote professional development, comprehensive and continuous training, a culture of change, organizational support and motivation. Clinical Relevance: Through the construction and provision of ongoing educational interventions and mentoring programmes about EBP, healthcare organizations and nursing leadership may develop a comprehensive strategy to encourage staff nurses' participation in the EBP process. This is to enhance nurses' experiences and perspectives towards the EBP approach and overcome the barriers to effective implementation. On September 12th and 13th, 2023, the "11th Day of Preservation" took place at the Central and State Library (ZLB) in Berlin. The event was organized and conducted by the Competence Center for Preservation of Archives and Libraries in Berlin and Brandenburg (KBE). The main theme of the event was "Integrated Pest Management (IPM) in Archives and Libraries" and included lectures and workshops on theory, practical reports, and biocide contamination. 88 participants from 52 institutions attended the event, both in person and online. High-quality care for older people is best delivered by multidisciplinary teams involving a range of professions. Similarly, if research evidence is to effectively inform practice, it needs to be designed and executed by teams that are both multidisciplinary and multiprofessional. Here, we summarise the discussions from a 1-day workshop convened by the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Newcastle Biomedical Research Centre in Spring 2021, which focussed on multidisciplinary academic teams. Barriers to success include small numbers of clinical academic researchers across all professions focussing on older people, and lack of career pathways, role models and support for non-medical clinical researchers. The workshop identified strengths in the tradition of multidisciplinary working in the care of older people, research questions that lend themselves naturally to multidisciplinary working, increasing interest from funders in multidisciplinary research, and untapped opportunities for greater commercial engagement. Initiatives to improve engagement of students and trainees, mentorship, career pathways, networking across research centres and possibly developing a national School of Older People's Care Research are all ways that we can ensure the growth of multidisciplinary research to best serve older people's health and social care in the future. Summer 2023 began with the NATS voice pedagogy trip to England that began with a miniconference that brought together 110 voice teachers from eight countries. Our tour group visited three music preparatory schools and two music universities. Celebrating the English choral tradition, we heard rehearsals or services at Eton College, St. Paul's Cathedral, King's College, Cambridge, and Trinity College, Cambridge. Overlapping the Pedagogy Trip, the NATS Intern Program was held at West Chester University, where five Master Teachers worked with sixteen Interns. Next, the NATS Board gathered in Florida for our annual meeting. In late June, the inaugural NATS Science-Informed Voice Pedagogy Institute was held at Utah State University where clinicians presented a wealth of information to fifty-five attendees. July 7--9, we gathered in San Diego for the Summer Workshop. Sessions focused on a variety of repertoire; in addition, the 2023 NSA Finals were held.
