The article presents information on the Third International Conference on Mechanisms of Action of Nutraceuticals. The topics considered at the conference were regulation of nutraceuticals, nutraceuticals for neuroprotection and neurodegenerative diseases, nutraceuticals and cancer, nutraceuticals and cardiovascular diseases, nutraceuticals and diabetes, and the role of new technologies. Major advances have been made in recent years in understanding the molecular and cellular basis of nutraceutical action. Nutraceutical research is moving away from the tracing of individual events to a more integrated approach looking at the interplay and coordination between many events. The clear and important role of omics methodologies was evident during the entire meeting.
