The objective of this study was to evaluate the bioclimatic conditions of an experimental shed broiler Federal University of Vales do Jequitinhonha and Mucuri (UFVJM) in JK campus in Diamantina, MG. The assessment was made based on the measurement of environmental variables of air temperature, relative humidity, black globe temperature and air velocity within the facility, in 42-day trial. With the collected data we calculated the temperature and humidity index (THI), the black globe temperature and humidity index (BGTHI), the radiation heat load (RHL) and the enthalpy index (Hº). The performance was evaluated at 42 days of age the broiler chickens through the parameters live weight (LW), average daily gain weight (ADGW), feed intake (FI), feed conversion ratio (FCR) and production viability (PV). It was found that most of the trial period the temperature inside the shed was out of thermal comfort zone for birds and the relative humidity was found above the recommended limits, except in the 15:00. The THI was below the comfort zone until the second week, indicating that the birds were in cold stress in this period. The BGTHI at 21:00 was outside the recommended throughout the experimental period. RHL and the Hº also were below the recommended throughout the trial period, indicating little amount of heat in the facility where the animals were housed. The performance of the broiler chickens proved to be lower than expected. In this sense, it is recommended to make changes in the shed to: reduce air intake, decrease the volume of air to be heated in the first weeks of bird life and provide additional heating to the shed level in order to, provide the best thermal comfort and hence higher performance of broilers. Objetivou-se com este trabalho avaliar as condições bioclimáticas de um galpão experimental de frangos de corte da Universidade Federal dos Vales do Jequitinhonha e Mucuri (UFVJM), no campus JK, em Diamantina, MG. A avaliação foi feita com base na mensuração das variáveis ambientais de temperatura do ar, umidade relativa do ar, temperatura de globo negro e velocidade do ar no interior da instalação, em 42 dias de período experimental. Com os dados coletados foram calculados os índices de temperatura e umidade (ITU), o índice de temperatura de globo negro e umidade (ITGU), a carga térmica de radiação (CTR) e o índice de entalpia (Hº). O desempenho foi avaliado aos 42 dias de idade dos frangos, através dos parâmetros de peso vivo (PV), ganho de peso médio diário (GPMD), consumo de ração (CR), conversão alimentar (CA) e viabilidade criatória (VB). Verificou-se que, na maior parte do período experimental, a temperatura no interior do galpão esteve fora da zona de conforto térmico para as aves e a umidade relativa do ar encontrou-se acima dos limites recomendados, exceto no horário de 15:00 horas. O ITU esteve abaixo da zona de conforto até a segunda semana, indicando que as aves estiveram em estresse por frio neste período. O ITGU às 21:00 horas esteve fora do preconizado durante todo o período experimental. A CTR e o Hº também estiveram abaixo do preconizado em todo o período experimental, indicando pouca quantidade de calor na instalação onde os animais foram alojados. O desempenho dos frangos de corte mostrou-se inferior ao esperado. Neste sentido, recomenda-se realizar alterações no galpão como: reduzir as entradas de ar, diminuir o volume de ar a ser aquecido nas primeiras semanas de vida das aves e fornecer aquecimento suplementar ao nível de galpão, afim de, proporcionar o melhor conforto térmico e, consequentemente, maior desempenho produtivo dos frangos.

Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior In the current poultry industry, advances in the areas of nutrition, genetics, management and animal health, along with the importance now being given to the ambiance of the bird to its range of thermal comfort, the activity is allowed to consolidate as one of the most important agricultural sector. The production environment does a fundamental role in the success or failure of the activity, and environmental factors such as temperature and relative humidity are those that most directly affect the birds, because compromise their most important baseline function, which is to maintain of homeothermic own. Thus, the birds require values of temperature and relative humidity of the environmental air within certain specific ranges, and out of this comfort zone, have compromised their performance. The objective of this work was to realize the full thermal mapping of typical barns for layers practiced in Brazil, vertical rearing systems, and to establish the most representative spatial position of the average conditions of temperature and relative humidity of the air inside the housing for better positioning the sensors command of air conditioners panels. The study was conducted in Itanhandu, in Minas Gerais State - Brazil, in a commercial laying hens barn, with the typical patterns used barn creation practiced in Brazil, called vertical systems, during the peak egg production. The barn is 100% automated, having 100,000 birds / barn, housed in four batteries with six levels of cages. The results were presented in two articles: Article I - Mapping the thermal environment of open aviaries in vertical position for the phase of peak egg production system; Article II - Determination of representative spatial position of the average temperature and relative humidity for layer hens in vertical rearing systems. Through the results of the survey, one can observe a thermal variability within the aviary, with the central region had higher temperatures of the extremities, and in situations of maximum temperatures occurrence of heat stress in birds. It was also possible to determine the best allocation for spatial positioning of the temperature sensors and humidity within the facility, and that they represent the internal thermal conditions are distant extremities of the aviary at 1⁄4 the length of the installation, and also away from the sides of barn, so as to be positioned in the intermediate runners, the average height of the battery cages. Na avicultura atual, os avanços nas áreas da nutrição, genética, manejo e sanidade animal, juntamente com a importância que passou a ser dada à ambientação da ave à sua faixa de conforto térmico, permitiram que a atividade se consolidasse como uma das mais importantes do setor agropecuário. O ambiente de produção desempenha papel fundamental para o sucesso ou fracasso da atividade, sendo que fatores ambientais tais como, temperatura e umidade relativa do ar são os que afetam mais diretamente as aves, pois comprometem a sua função basal mais importante, que é a manutenção da própria homeotermia. Sendo assim, as aves necessitam de valores de temperatura e umidade relativa do ar ambiente dentro de certas faixas específicas e, fora desta zona de conforto, tem seu desempenho comprometido. Objetivou-se com este trabalho realizar o mapeamento térmico completo de aviário de postura típico dos padrões praticados no Brasil, sistemas verticais de criação, bem como estabelecer a posição espacial mais representativa das condições médias de temperatura e umidade relativa do ar interna do alojamento para melhor posicionamento dos sensores de comando dos painéis climatizadores. O trabalho foi desenvolvido no município de Itanhandu - Minas Gerais, em uma granja comercial de aves de postura, sendo o aviário utilizado típico dos padrões de criação praticados no Brasil, denominados sistemas verticais, durante a fase de pico de postura das aves. O aviário é 100% automatizado, possuindo 100.000 aves/aviário, alojadas em quatro baterias com seis andares de gaiolas. Os resultados obtidos foram apresentados em dois artigos: Artigo I - Mapeamento do ambiente térmico de aviários de postura abertos em sistema vertical para a fase de pico de postura das aves; Artigo II - Determinação da posição espacial representativa das condições médias de temperatura e umidade relativa do ar para aviários de postura em sistemas verticais de criação. Por meio dos resultados da pesquisa realizada, pode-se observar uma variabilidade térmica dentro do aviário, com a região central apresentando temperaturas superiores as das extremidades, e nas situações de temperaturas máximas ocorrência de estresse calórico das aves. Foi possível também determinar que os melhores posicionamentos espaciais para alocação dos sensores de temperatura e umidade dentro da instalação, e que estes representassem as condições térmicas internas, são distantes das extremidades do aviário, à 1⁄4 o comprimento da instalação, e também afastadas das laterais do aviário, de modo a ser posicionado nos corredores intermediários, na altura média da bateria de gaiolas.

The aim of this research was to evaluate and compare the behavior of temperature inside poultry sheds with bell jar type gas conventional heating and heating in the floor with use of a heat exchanger. It was used the public domain program FEMM 4.2 for the analysis of temperature through the use of finite elements techniques with data collected from two lots. Heating in the floor is made with the hot water flowing through a heat exchanger, which is installed below the bed; this hot water is from solar heaters. From the results obtained with the simulations can be observed that the heating through the floor provides a more homogeneous distribution breast when compared with the bell jar type heating. The flow of heat is upwards supplying thus the most needed heating of the bird that is the pectoral part. Energy consumption evaluation was made with use of LPG; this has enabled a comparative analysis of the quantity of electric energy necessary to provide the same thermal energy and the financial expenses obtained with the heating though LPG or electric energy for each lot. Essa pesquisa foi conduzida com o objetivo de avaliar e comparar o comportamento da temperatura dentro do galpão avícola com aquecimento convencional tipo campânula a gás com o aquecimento pelo piso com o uso de serpentina. Foi utilizado para a análise do comportamento da temperatura o programa de computador de domínio público FEMM 4.2 que utiliza técnicas de elementos finitos, com base em 2 dos lotes coletados. O aquecimento pelo piso se dá com a utilização de água quente passando por um sistema tipo serpentina, que é instalada abaixo da cama, essa água quente é proveniente de aquecedor solar. A partir dos resultados obtidos com as simulações nota-se que o aquecimento através do piso fornece uma distribuição mais homogênea da temperatura quando comparado com o aquecimento tipo campânula. O fluxo de calor se dá de baixo para cima suprindo assim a necessidade maior de aquecimento da ave que é na parte peitoral. Foi realizada uma avaliação do consumo energético com a utilização do GLP, o que possibilitou uma análise comparativa da quantidade de energia elétrica necessária para fornecer a mesma energia térmica e os gastos financeiros obtidos com o aquecimento via GLP ou energia elétrica para cada lote. Brazil, to remain competitive in agribusiness, the challenge is to continue production with low cost technologies in facilities with favorable environment conditions. In general, coverage due to represent much of the building, is the factor that has great influence on the environmental conditions for livestock. The efficiency is associated with the type of tiles material they are made, characterized by isolation, damping and thermal delay and associated with the superficial nature, characterized by radiant absorptivity and emissivity. Using the theory of similarity for the definition of 1:12 scale models, and thermal environmental indices, the objective of this research was to evaluate the conditions inside poultry or cattle sheds made with five types of alternative material roofs, namely: Tetra Pak, toothpaste tubes, Onduline with vegetable fiber and bitumen, Reciplac aluminized on the top and white on the bottom, Reciplac aluminized on the top and neutral on the bottom, compared with the tiling of clay, with and without the presence of an insulating undercoverage, under hot conditions. Considering the Black Globe Temperature and Humidity Index, the Radiant Thermal Load and Thermal Effectiveness enabled by coverage, in the birds and cattle level, it was found that in general there was similarity between the results, but with differences was amplified when the curtains were closed, and that during hot days, the best conditions were associated with coverage of clay. The worst results were associated with the coverage Onduline - vegetable fiber and asphalt - with and without under-coverage, Tetra Pak coverage - no under-coverage, Reciplac aluminized on the upper side and white on the bottom - with and without undercoverage, and Reciplac aluminized above and neutral below - with undercoverage. The use of an insulating undercoverage was unable to promote improvement in environmental thermal conditions, unless associated with the tiles of worse performance. It was estimated reduction in the initial cost of the roof, in comparison to the coverage of clay, at 47, 7% for Reciplac aluminized coated on the upper side and white on bottom, 45, 5% for Reciplac aluminized on the upper face and neutral at the bottom and 41, 2% for the roof made of Tetra Pak tiles. O Brasil, para que continue competitivo no agronegócio, persiste o desafio da produção com tecnologias de baixo custo, em instalações com condições ambientais favoráveis. De forma geral, a cobertura por representar grande parte da envolvente, é o fator que tem grande influência sobre as condições do ambiente de galpões para a criação animal, sendo sua eficiência associada ao tipo do material constituinte das telhas, caracterizado pelo isolamento, amortecimento e retardo térmico, e associado à natureza superficial, caracterizado pela absortividade e emissividade radiante. Com a utilização da teoria de similitude, para definição de modelos reduzidos na escala 1:12, e de índices térmicos ambientais, o objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar as condições no interior de galpões de avicultura ou bovinocultura, confeccionados com cinco tipos de coberturas de materiais alternativos, ou seja: embalagens Tetra Pak, tubos de pastas de dentes, Onduline com fibra vegetal e betume, Reciplac aluminizada na face superior e branca na inferior e Reciplac aluminizada na face superior e neutra na inferior, em comparação com a cobertura de telhas de barro, com e sem a presença de manta isolante subcobertura, em condições de calor. Considerando o Índice de Temperatura de Globo Negro e Umidade, a Carga Térmica Radiante e a Efetividade Térmica propiciados pelas coberturas, ao nível das aves e dos bovinos, verificou-se no geral que ocorreu semelhança entre resultados, porém com diferenças amplificadas quando as cortinas estavam fechadas, e que, no período quente do dia, as melhores condições estiveram associados à cobertura de barro. Os piores resultados estiveram associados com as coberturas Onduline fibra vegetal e betume - com e sem subcobertura, cobertura reciclada de Tetra Pak - sem subcobertura, cobertura Reciplac aluminizada na face superior e branca na inferior - com e sem subcobertura, e cobertura Reciplac aluminizada em cima e neutra por baixo - com subcobertura. O uso da manta isolante subcobertura não foi capaz de promover melhoria nas condições térmicas ambientais, a não ser quando associada a coberturas de pior desempenho. Estimou-se redução nos custos iniciais do telhado em comparação ao de cobertura de barro, em 47, 7% para o com cobertura Reciplac aluminizada na face superior e branca na inferior, 45, 5% para o com cobertura Reciplac aluminizada na face superior e neutra na inferior e 41, 2% para o com cobertura de material reciclado Tetra Pak.

Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior Brazil is the fourth biggest swine producer in the world, standing only behind China, the European Union and the United States. In spite of the advances witnessed by swine culture, in many Brazilian farms the elevated temperature values as well as the relative humidity of the air verified in the sheds, especially in the summer, have affected negatively the animals performance in growth and finishing stages, resulting in production a lot lower than its genetic potential. The ventilation is one of the possible processes used to soften these effects. However, for many regions in Brazil, as it is the case of the Center-West region, the natural ventilation several times is not enough to guarantee the thermal comfort in conditions of heat, requiring also the acclimatized through artificial means. Even though we have used not only all the techniques for natural thermal acclimatized but also the resources of simple forced ventilation, the temperatures of the animal production sheds are used to be so elevated that it is necessary to promote the pre-cooling of the air. Based on what has been mentioned, this work has as objectives to evaluate for the Brazilian Center-West region, based on the environment thermal comfort as well as productive performance, in the growing and finishing phases, three different thermal acclimatized systems: ventilation by lateral positive ventilation, associated with internal fogging; negative ventilation in tunnel model, associated with internal fogging and natural ventilation. The present research was developed in commercial sheds of growth and finishing stages, in the city of Rio Verde, located in the state of Goiás, Brazilian Center- West region. The animals were lodged after the period of weanling (61 days of life) and remained in the installations until the slaughter (166 days of life). The installations used in this experiment were composed of two sheds of the same nucleus, oriented in the eastwest directions, having similar structural characteristics. These sheds had similar dimensions of 90m length, 10 m width, right foot of 3.27 m, 0.80 m edge, covered with galvanized steel roofing tiles without any painting, with a 25% of inclination. They were subdivided into nineteen collective stalls of 47.20 m2 with capacity to shelter 50 animals, with partitions of 0.80 m of height, made in pre-manufactured concrete. They had closings in the East and West faces, in masonry with half brick. In the lateral parts, there were closings with association of pre-manufactured wall and wire fence. The floor was made with concrete, with the usage of water sheet in the stall extremity. For the witness treatment, one of the sheds was used; the other one was divided in half, being equipped with the ventilation system by negative pressure in tunnel model in one of its halves and the ventilation system by positive lateral pressure in the other half. The indexes of thermal comfort of the animals during the growth and finishing phases were evaluated in the two sheds as well as in the external environment. The measures were done continuously inside each installation at 1.5m of height, in relation to the floor, using the following environmental variables: air temperature, dew temperature, relative humidity and black globe temperature. The measures were done with the use of data acquisition system with continuing reading in intervals of 30 minutes, totaling 48 collection schedules per day. From these data the indexes of Black Globe and Humidity (ITGU) and the Radiant Thermal Charge (CTR) were calculated. In order to evaluate the animals performances in the phases of growth and finishing in the distinct phases of the experiment, the following animal production indexes were used: ration consumption, weight gain and food conversion. For the period of 61 to 96 days of swine life, in general, the values of air temperature inside the installations were within or very close to the thermal neutrality zone for the swine in growth, 18 and 22ºC for the swine between 20 and 50 kg. The installation equipped with the negative ventilation systems tunnel model (VT) was the one that was during most of the time within the recommended relative humidity strip, which is of 50 to 70 %. Based on the ITGU, the lateral ventilation system (VL) was the one that appeased the best environment for the animals, for it was the one that reached the limit for this index for the least part of the time, only from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., followed by the VT System, from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.. In the CTR evaluation there were variations of 446 to 649 W.m- 2 for the external environment, of 433 to 586 W.m-2 for the installation with the Natural Ventilation system (VN), 423 to 587 W.m-2 for the installation with the VL system and 428 to 476 W.m-2 for the installation with the VT system. For the animal production indexes there was no significant difference for the analyzed parameters. However, there was a better performance for the VT system, with a Daily Weight Gain (DWG) of 0.779 kg, Daily Ration Consumption (DRC) of 1.660 kg and Food Conversion of 2.13. For the period of 97 to 131 days of life of the swine, in general, the values of air temperature, inside the installations were out of the thermal neutrality strip for the swine in the finishing stage, values between 16 and 18 ºC for swine around 60 kg. Only the installation with the VL system reached a small interval of time within the optimum temperature strip, from 5:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m. For the relative humidity the installation with VN the animals were submitted to high stress in the period of 1:30 pm. to 4 p.m., since the relative humidity reached values below the critical limit recommended for swine production, which is of 40 %. Based on the ITGU, the Lateral Ventilation System appeased comfortable environment for the animals, for only the 5:30 p.m. period reaching the value of 73 for the ITGU, since the values that are over 72 is indication of stress for the swine. For the CTR variations of 470 to 785 W.m-2 for the external environment were observed, of 431 to 564 W.m-2 for the installations with VN System 419 to 583 W.m-2 for the installation with VL System and 398 to 558 W.m-2 for the installation with the VT system. For the animal performance, there was no significant difference for the analyzed parameters. However, a better performance for the VL system is verified, with GPD of 1.049 kg, CRD of 2.621 kg and CA of 2.50. For the period of 132 days of life until the slaughter of the swine, the VL System was more efficient in keeping the internal temperature of the installation within the recommended strip, during the interval of time from the 12:30 a.m. to 8:00 a.m.. Regarding the relative humidity the installation with Natural Ventilation the animals were submitted to high stress in the period of 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., for the relative humidity reached values below the critical limit for the swine production, which is 40 %. Based on the ITGU, the VL System and the system with VT were efficient in the comfort maintenance for the animals, with a slight advantage for the VT. IN the VL System, during the interval of 12:00 p.m. to 5 p.m., the ITGU values reached 72, while the VN System reached values superior to the maximum limit from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., submitting the animal to stress. For CTR variations of 390 to 592 W.m-2 for the external environment, of 421 to 505 W.m-2 for the installation with the VN system, 436 to 516 W.m-2 for the installation with VL system and 433 to 498 W.m-2 for the installation with VT system were observed. For the animal production indexes, there was no significant difference for the analyzed parameters. However, there was a better performance for the VT system, with GPD of 1.022 kg, CRD of 2.877 kg and CA of 2.81. There is still potential for the acclimatized systems to promote thermal environmental improvements with temperature reduction due to the increase of the systems efficiency. O Brasil é o quarto maior produtor mundial de suínos, ficando atrás apenas da China, União Européia e Estados Unidos. Apesar dos avanços testemunhados pela suinocultura, em muitas granjas brasileiras os elevados valores de temperatura e umidade relativa do ar, verificados nos galpões, especialmente no verão, tem afetado negativamente o desempenho dos animais em crescimento e terminação, levando a níveis de produção muito abaixo de seu potencial genético. A ventilação é um dos possíveis processos usados para amenizar estes efeitos. No entanto, para muitas regiões do Brasil, como é o caso do Centro-Oeste, a ventilação natural, muitas vezes, não é suficiente para garantir o conforto térmico em condições de calor, exigindo também o acondicionamento por via artificial. Tem-se verificado que, mesmo recorrendo a todas as técnicas do acondicionamento térmico natural e utilizando adequadamente os recursos de ventilação forçada simples, a temperatura dos galpões de produção animal costuma ser tão elevada que se torna necessário promover o pré-resfriamento do ar. Com base no exposto, este trabalho teve como objetivos avaliar, para as condições do Centro-Oeste brasileiro, com base no conforto térmico ambiente e no desempenho produtivo, nas fases de recria e terminação, três diferentes sistemas de acondicionamento térmico: ventilação por pressão positiva lateral, associada à nebulização interna; ventilação negativa em modo túnel, associada à nebulização interna e ventilação Natural. A presente pesquisa foi desenvolvida em galpões comerciais de recria e terminação, no município de Rio Verde-GO, Centro-Oeste brasileiro. Os animais foram alojados depois do período de creche (61 dias de vida) e permaneceram nas instalações até o abate (166 dias de vida). As instalações utilizadas neste experimento foram compostas por dois galpões de um mesmo núcleo, orientados no sentido leste-oeste, possuindo características estruturais semelhantes. Estes galpões possuíam dimensões similares de 90 m de comprimento, 10 m de largura, pé direito de 3,27 m, beiral de 0,80 m, cobertos com telhas de aço galvanizado comum sem nenhuma pintura, com inclinação de 25%. Eram subdivididos em dezenove baias coletivas de 47,20 m2 com capacidade para alojamento de 50 animais, com divisórias de 0,80 m de altura, confeccionadas em concreto pré-fabricado. Possuíam fechamentos nas faces leste e oeste, em alvenaria de meio tijolo. Nas laterais, fechamento com a associação de mureta pré-fabricada e cerca de arame liso. O piso concreto, com utilização de lâmina d’água na extremidade da baia. Para o tratamento testemunha, foi utilizado um dos galpões, o outro galpão foi dividido ao meio, sendo equipado com o sistema de ventilação por pressão negativa em modo túnel em uma de suas metades e o sistema de ventilação por pressão positiva lateral na outra metade. Foram avaliados, nos dois galpões e no ambiente externo, os índices de conforto térmico dos animais para as fases de recria e terminação. Foram feitas medições continuamente dentro de cada instalação á 1,5 m de altura em relação ao piso, das seguintes variáveis ambientais: temperatura do ar, temperatura de ponto de orvalho, umidade relativa e temperatura de globo negro. As medições foram realizadas com o uso de sistema de aquisição de dados com leitura contínua em intervalos de 30 minutos, totalizando 48 horários de coleta por dia. A partir destes dados foram calculados os índices de temperatura de Globo Negro e Umidade (ITGU) e Carga Térmica Radiante (CTR). Para avaliar, nas distintas fases do experimento, o desempenho dos animais nas fases de recria e terminação, foram utilizados os seguintes índices zootécnicos, consumo de ração, ganho de peso, conversão alimentar. Para o período de 61 a 96 dias de vida dos suínos, em geral, os valores de temperatura do ar dentro das instalações estiveram dentro ou muito próximos da zona de termoneutralidade para suínos em crescimento, 18 e 22 ºC para suínos entre 20 e 50 kg. A instalação equipada com o Sistema de Ventilação negativa tipo Túnel (VT) foi a que esteve em maior parte do tempo dentro da faixa de umidade relativa recomendada, que é de 50 a 70 %. Com base no ITGU, o sistema com Ventilação Lateral (VL) foi o que propiciou o melhor ambiente para os animais, pois foi onde se atingiu o limite deste índice por menor parte do tempo, apenas das 11:30 às 17:30 horas, seguido do Sistema VT, das 10:30 às 18:00 horas. Na avaliação da CTR houve variações de 446 a 649 W.m-2 para o ambiente externo, de 433 a 586 W.m-2 para a instalação com o sistema de Ventilação Natural (VN), 423 a 587 W.m-2 para a instalação com sistema de VL e 428 a 476 W.m-2 para a instalação com sistema VT. Para os índices zootécnicos não houve diferença significativa para os parâmetros analisados, contudo,houve melhor desempenho para o sistema VT, com Ganho de Peso Diário (GPD) de 0,779 kg, Consumo de Ração Diário (CRD) de 1,660 kg e Conversão Alimentar de 2,13.Para o período de 97 a 131 dias de vida dos suínos, em geral, os valores de temperatura do ar, dentro das instalações estiveram fora zona de termoneutralidade para suínos em terminação, valores entre 16 e 18ºC para suínos entorno de 60 kg. Apenas a instalação com o sistema de VL alcançou um pequeno intervalo de tempo dentro da faixa de temperatura ótima, das 5:00 às 7:00 horas. Para a umidade relativa a instalação com VN os animais ficaram submetidos a alto estresse no período de 13:30 às 16:00 horas, pois a umidade relativa alcançou valores abaixo do recomendado limite crítico, para a produção de suínos, que é de 40 %. Com base no ITGU, o Sistema de Ventilação Lateral propiciou ambiente confortável para os animais, pois apenas no horário das 17:30 alcançando o valor de 73 para o ITGU, pois, valores acima de 72 é indicativo de estresse para suínos. Para a CTR foram observadas variações de 470 a 785 W.m-2 para o ambiente externo, de 431 a 564 W.m-2 para a instalação com o sistema VN 419 a 583 W.m-2 para a instalação com sistema VL e 398 a 558 W.m-2 para a instalação com sistema VT. Para o desempenho animal, não houve diferença significativa para os parâmetros analisados. Contudo, verifica-se melhor desempenho para o sistema VL, com GPD de 1,049 kg, CRD de 2,621 kg e CA de 2,50. Para o período de 132 dias de vida até o abate dos suínos, o Sistema VL foi o mais eficiente em manter a temperatura interna da instalação dentro da faixa recomendada, durante o intervalo de tempo das 00:30 às 08:00 horas. Para a umidade relativa a instalação com Ventilação Natural os animais ficaram submetidos a alto estresse no período de 11:30 às 17:00 horas, pois a umidade relativa alcançou valores abaixo do limite crítico para a produção de suínos, que é de 40 %. Com base no ITGU, o sistema VL e o sistema com VT foram eficientes na manutenção do conforto para os animais, com ligeira vantagem para o VT. No sistema VL, no intervalo das 12:00 às 17:00, chegou-se a valores de ITGU no limite de 72. Enquanto o sistema de VN atingiu valores superiores ao limite máximo das 10:30 às 17:30, submetendo os animais ao estresse. Para CTR foram observadas variações de 390 a 592 W.m-2 para o ambiente externo, de 421 a 505 W.m-2 para a instalação com o sistema VN, 436 a 516 W.m-2 para a instalação com sistema VL e 433 a 498 W.m-2 para a instalação com sistema VT. Para os índices zootécnicos, não houve diferença significativa para os parâmetros analisados. Contudo, houve melhor desempenho para o sistema VT, com GPD de 1,022 kg, CRD de 2,877 kg e CA de 2,81. Existe, ainda, potencial para os sistemas de acondicionamento promover melhorias térmicas ambientais, com redução da temperatura em função do aumento da eficiência dos sistemas.

Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior Objetivando-se avaliar camas sobrepostas compostas de maravalha e de casca de arroz para suínos nas fases de crescimento e terminação para as condições de verão, foi conduzida pesquisa, no período de dezembro de 2002 a abril de 2003, no Centro Nacional de Pesquisa de Suínos e Aves (EMBRAPA - CNPSA), localizado em Concórdia, Estado de Santa Catarina. Foram utilizadas três edificações com dimensões de 12,0 x 10,0 m, divididas em 4 baias de 5,0 x 6,0 m. Foram utilizados 216 animais (Landrace x Large White), com 25 kg de peso médio inicial e 63 dias de vida, provenientes da própria EMBRAPA, divididos em número de 72 por instalação, em um experimento com delineamento experimental inteiramente casualizado e 4 repetições por tratamento. Os tratamentos utilizados foram cama de maravalha, cama de casca de arroz e piso de concreto. O ambiente térmico foi avaliado com base no índice de temperatura de globo negro e umidade (ITGU), na carga térmica radiante (CTR) e na umidade relativa do ar (UR). A qualidade do ar foi avaliada com base na quantificação da emissão de amônia e para isso foram feitas medições diárias de fluxo instantâneo às 10:00 e 14:00 horas. O desempenho produtivo dos animais foi analisado com base na conversão alimentar (CA), no ganho de peso (GP), no consumo de ração (CR) e de água (CAg). Foi determinada ainda a taxa de mortalidade (TM). O período experimental foi dividido em três fases: 1) 63 a 98 dias de vida (25 - 50 kg); 2) 98 a 126 dias de vida (50 - 75 kg); e 3) 126 a 183 dias de vida (75 - 135 kg). Verificou-se que não houve diferenças para o ITGU e para a UR entre os tratamentos e, que a CTR foi distinta nos três tratamentos, sendo os maiores valores obtidos na cama de maravalha. Foi verificada diferença entre os tratamentos com relação ao ganho de peso (GP) e taxa de mortalidade (TM), em determinadas fases. Concluiu-se que o desempenho geral dos tratamentos foi muito próximo, tomando-se como base os índices do ambiente térmico, qualidade do ar, taxa de mortalidade e índices zootécnicos. Houve discreta vantagem para o piso de concreto, mas, de acordo com os resultados, as camas podem figurar também como opções satisfatórias, tendo em vista as pequenas diferenças observadas e dentre as mesmas foi evidenciada pequena vantagem para a cama de casca de arroz. The objective of this study was to evaluate the deep bedding made of wood shavings and rice husks for swine at the growth and finishing phases under summer conditions. The experiment was carried out over the period from December 2002 to April 2003, in the “Centro Nacional de Pesquisa de Suinos e Aves (EMBRAPA - CNPSA) located in Concórdia county, Santa Catarina State. Three constructions with dimensions of 12.0 x 10.0 m divided into 4 boxes with 5.0 x 6.0 m were used. A total of 216 animals (Landrace x Large White) with an initial average weight of 25 kg and aged 63 days, coming from EMBRAPA, were used. Each experimental installation lodged seventy two animals. The entirely randomized experimental design was used, with 4 replicates for each treatment. The used treatments were: wood shaving bed, husk rice bed and concrete floor. The evaluation of the thermal environment was based on the humidity and black globe temperature index (ITGU), the radiant thermal load (CTR) and the relative air humidity (UR). The evaluation of the air quality was based on the quantification of the ammonia emission. So, daily measurements of the instantaneous flow at 10:00 and 14:00 hours were performed. The analysis of the animals’ productive performance was based on food conversion (CA), weight gain (GP), consumption of ration (CR) and water (CAg). The mortality rate (TM) was also determined. The experimental period was divided into three phases: a) 63 to 98 living days (25 - 50 kg); b) 98 to 126 living days (50 - 75 kg); and c) 126 to 183 living days (75 - 135 kg). It was found that there were no differences for ITGU and UR among the treatments; CTR was different in those three treatments, and the highest values were shown by the deep bedding. Difference among the treatments were found for the weight gain (GP) and mortality rate (TM) at certain phases. Based on the indices of the thermal environment, life quality, mortality rate and the zootechny indices, it was concluded that the treatments showed a very close general performance A discreet advantage was found for the concrete floor; according to the results, however, the beds can also be satisfactory options, considering the low differences observed. A small advantage was shown for the rice husk bed.
