This article presents suggestions for the storage of food in several kitchen containers. Well-rounded storage glass tumblers and bowls and the stainless-steel mixing set are glorious multitaskers that prepare, store, and serve food. All are round, which makes mixing easy, and each comes with a lid. They go easily from kitchen to table. Ideal for leftovers, especially oily foods, which can stain plastic. Avoid nuking food in plastic containers not designed for that purpose. They can't handle high temperatures and can warp, melt, and leach trace amounts of chemicals into food. Don't let plastic wrap touch food during heating, either. Rubbermaid Inc.'s new Professional Food Containers are made of impact-resistant polycarbonate, the same material used in airplane and space shuttle windows, the containers resist staining, warping, and cracking — and probably even misguided geese and meteors.
