A new compound [Co2(H2BATD)(DMF)2]·2.5DMF·0.5H2O (1) was synthesized from the triazine ligand H6BATD (H6BATD = 5,5′-(6-biscarboxymethylamino-1,3,5-triazine-2,4-diyl) bis (azadiyl), DMF = N,N-dimethylformamide) and Co(NO3)2·6H2O. Compound 1 was characterized using infrared spectroscopy, UV-vis spectroscopy, PXRD, and thermogravimetry. The three-dimensional network of compound 1 was further constructed using [Co2(COO)6] building blocks from the flexible coordination arms and the rigid coordination arms from the ligand. In terms of functional properties, compound 1 can be used for the catalytic reduction of p-nitrophenol (PNP) to p-aminophenol (PAP), and compound 1 with a dose of 1 mg showed good catalytic reduction properties, as well as a conversion rate of over 90%. Based on the unique π-electron wall and carboxyl groups in the H6BATD ligand that provide abundant adsorption sites, compound 1 can be used to adsorb iodine in cyclohexane solution. Metal-organic frameworks [Co(Hbidc)(H2O)2] (1) and [Mn(Hbidc)(H2O)] (2), with multidentate 1H-benzimidazole-5,6-dicarboxylic acid (H3bidc) ligand, have been synthesized under hydro/solvothermal conditions and structurally characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectrum, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis revealed that the center Co atom of complex 1 is six-coordinated with three-dimensional supramolecular structure and center Mn of complex 2 is five-coordinated with exhibiting a 2D layered network. The photodegradation of Crystal violet dye and Methylene blue dye were studied firstly by complexes 1 and 2 as photocatalysts. Research result indicates that the degradation rate for complex 1 can reach 89.85% , 90.6% and that for complex 2 can reach 88.28% , 79.48%. Three co-crystal compounds 1–3 (NDI-A·fluorene) (1), (H3TIBTC·4,4′-bipy) (2), (H3DIBTC·4,4′-bipy) (3) (NDI-A = N,N′-di(4-pyridylacylamino)-1,4,5,8-naphthalenediimide, H3TIBTC = 2,4,6-triiodo-1,3,5-benzene tricarboxylic acid, H3DIBTC = 2,4-diiodo-1,3,5-benzenetricarboxylic acid, 4,4′-bipy = 4,4′-bipyridine) were firstly synthesized by hydrothermal methods. The structural analysis shows that the co-crystal compounds 1–3 have 3D, 2D, and 1D supramolecular structures through hydrogen bonds and π–π interactions. Structural analysis shows that co-crystals 1–3 are constructed into a hydrogen bond ring and chain with graph set notations R 33 (28), R 22 (26), C (8), and R 66 (38), through hydrogen bonds, respectively. Co-crystal 1 has obvious fluorescence properties due to its large conjugate plane. Through the study of the fluorescence emission spectra of NDI-A, fluorene and the co-crystal 1 with their solid lifetimes, the mechanism of luminescence of co-crystal 1 was explored. Based on the good fluorescence properties of co-crystal 1, the detection effect of balsalazide disodium was systematically studied. It was found that co-crystal 1 can qualitatively and quantitatively detect balsalazide disodium under the condition of simulating the ion environment in plasma (Ksv = 8 × 102 M−1; detection limit: 7.25 × 10−5 mol L−1). The field of post‐synthesis modification has aroused widespread concern from diverse perspectives, including chemistry, biology, and material science. Post‐synthesis modification can introduce rich functionality into metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) without destroying the main structure of MOFs. Based on this research status, a series of lanthanide metal–organic frameworks ([Ln2(NH2‐BDC)2.5(CH3COO)(DMA)(H2O)]•DMA, Ln = Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu, Gd and Tb, NH2‐BDC = 2‐aminoterephthalic acid, DMA = N,N‐Dimethylacetamide) with 3D network structures, are synthesized by hydrothermal synthesis. Due to the presence of uncoordinated amino groups in the ligands, a series of post‐synthesis modified compounds are successfully synthesized through aldimine condensation reaction. Based on the good fluorescence properties and stable structure of coordination polymers and post‐synthesis modified compounds in water or organic solvents, they are able to be used as potential fluorescence sensor for the detection of Th4+, UO22+, and Cr2O72−, and the calculation result shows that the post‐synthesis modified compounds are more sensitive to the detection of analytes (Th4+, UO22+ and Cr2O72−) than coordination polymers. In addition, the MOF membrane prepared by self‐assembly of [Eu2(NH2‐BDC)2.5(CH3COO)(DMA)(H2O)]•DMA and ternary soap‐free copolymer (VAc‐AA‐BA) emulsion can be used first for detecting aldehyde vapors. Solvothermal reaction of uranyl acetate and succinic acid in DMF resulted in formation of three uranyl coordination polymers, [(UO2)4(μ2-OH)7(OH)6]·2(H2O)·(H3O)·4NH2(CH3)2(1), [(UO2)(μ2-OH)(OH)3]·2NH2(CH3)2] (2), and [(DMF)2(UO2)(μ2-OH)4(UO2))] (3). Two U(VI)-containing coordination polymers, (UO2)2O2(Suc)(2,2′-bipy)2 (1) and UO2(BC)2(DMF) (2) (2,2′-bipy = 2,2′-bipyridine, H2Suc = succinic acid, HBC = benzoic acid, DMF = N,N-dimethylformamide), have been synthesized and characterized via elemental analysis, infrared spectroscopy, UV-Vis spectroscopy, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Structural analyses show that 1 is a 1-D chain coordination polymer in which U(VI) ions are connected by succinic acid ligand and the 1-D chain is connected into a 3-D supramolecular network by C⊟H···O hydrogen bonds between carbon of 2,2′-bipyridine and uranyl oxygen. For 2, monomeric entities are further assembled into a 1-D supramolecular network by C–H···O hydrogen bonds between carbon of DMF molecule and coordinated carboxylate oxygen. By using 1,4-benzene-dicarboxylic acid and 1,2,4,5-benzenetetracarboxylic acid as mixed-linkers, three novel 3D lanthanide coordination polymers, [Ln(BDC)(BTEC)(HO)] (Ln = Eu ( 1) and Gd ( 2)) and [Tb(BDC)(BTEC)(HO)] ( 3) (HBDC = 1,4-benzene-dicarboxylic acid, HBTEC = 1,2,4,5-benzenetetracarboxylic acid) were synthesized via hydrothermal reaction. The X-ray single crystal analyses reveal that the three coordination polymers present two types of different crystal cell parameters and hereby exhibited two kinds of different metal-organic frameworks, although they have the similar chemical formula [Ln(BDC)(BTEC)(HO)]. Of these complexes, complexes 1 and 2 are isomorphous, crystallizing in monoclinic, space group P2/ n. While 3 is a 3D eight-coordinated terbium complex with triclinic crystal system and P-1 space group. The occurrence of the different structures of these complexes under the similar preparation method may be related to the lanthanide contraction effect. Two new 3-D lanthanide coordination polymers, [CeK(btec)(H2O)2] n (1), [Ho(btec)0.5(ad)0.5(H2O)] n (2) (H4btec = 1,2,4,5-benzenetetracarboxylic acid, H2ad = adipic acid), have been synthesized under hydrothermal conditions and characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectroscopy, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Structural analyses reveal that both complexes crystallized in monoclinic space group P21/c and possessed 3-D net-structures. In 1, btec adopts two types of coordination modes: µ12–η2:η2:η2:η1:η2:η2:η2:η1 bridging mode linking six Ce(III) ions and six K+ ions and the other µ8–η1:η2:η2:η1:η1:η2:η2:η1 bridging mode connecting four Ce(III) ions and four K+ ions. In 2, btec adopts a µ6-bridging with each carboxylate group of btec ligand in a µ2–η1–η2 mode, the adipate is µ4-bridging with each carboxylate µ2–η1–η1-monodentate. The topological analysis shows that 1 can be simplified to a 3-nodal net with the Schläfli symbol {32,48,53,62}4{34,412,512}{438,626,82} and 2 can be simplified to a 3-nodal network with the Schläfli symbol {42,84}{46,66,83}{47,63}2. Abstract: Two three-dimensional (3D) novel lanthanide complexes with the H2Lzole-5,6-dicarboxylate [Ln2L3(H2O)] [Ln=Eu (1), Tb (2)] and one two-dimensional (2D) novel lanthanide complex [Pr(L)(HL)H2O]·H2O (3) were synthesized by hydrothermal reaction at 180°C and characterized by elemental analysis, infrared spectra and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The result showed that complexes 1 and 2 are isostructural and build porous 3D networks by L2− groups linking Ln(III) atoms via tetradentate (bridging and bridging) and pentadentate (bridging/chelating and bridging) coordination modes. Complex 3 is a eight-coordinated Pr(III) chain complex, exhibiting a 2D polymeric network with parallel Pr-carboxylate chains along the crystallographic c-axis. In addition, it is found that in these structures, coordination modes of L2− and HL− are versatile and can adopt different conformations according to distinct dimensions of polymeric structures. Abstract: A series of new lanthanide coordination polymers, with the formula [Ln(Suc)0.5(p-BDC)] (Ln=Eu (1), Sm (2), Tb (3), Pr (4), Ho (5); H2Suc=succinic acid; p-H2BDC=1,4-benzene dicarboxylic acid), have been synthesized under hydrothermal condition and all of them have been structurally characterized. X-ray diffraction analyses reveal that complexes 1–5 are isostructural and crystallized in orthorhombic space group Pbca. One-dimensional infinite inorganic edge-sharing polyhedra chains formed by lanthanide ions and tetradentate carboxyl groups of succinic acid ligands, link to each other through the carbon atoms of succinic acid ligands and phenyl groups of the 1,4-benzene dicarboxylic acid ligands, to lead to a three-dimensional framework structure. Abstract: Two two-dimensional (2D) new complexes: [M(bpy)(C10H16O4)H2O] [M=Ni (1), Co (2); bpy=4,4-bipyridine, C10H18O4 =sebacic acid] were synthesized by the hydrothermal reaction at 180°C and characterized by elemental analysis, infrared spectra, and thermogravimetric spectra, single-crystal X-ray diffraction and surface photovoltage spectrum (SPS). The single-crystal X-ray diffraction showed that both complexes are isomorphous, crystallized in monoclinic system, and space group P21/c. In addition, The results of SPS for complexes (1) and (2) indicate that these two complexes exhibit positive surface photovoltage response in the range of 300–800nm, which can be assigned to LMCT and d→d∗ electronic transition. With the rapid development of nuclear energy, one of the main constraints restricting the development of nuclear energy is the long‐term safe disposal of strong uranium waste. Here it is a great significance that we use four new synthetic Ln (III)‐based coordination polymers to test the uranium solution. In this study, four three‐dimensional coordination polymers 1–4 (CPs‐(1–4); Ln = Eu, Gd, Sm, Nd) were successfully synthesized through 1:1 complexation of Ln (NO3)3·6H2O with poly‐carboxylic acid ligand H3TIBTC (2,4,6‐Triiodo‐1,3,5‐benzene tricarboxylic acid) which contains substituents of the carboxylic acid group and halogen atom, respectively. Based on the ligand being excellent fluorescent properties in the solution, it prompted us to further study the fluorescence properties of the coordination polymers. Experimental results show that the coordination polymers are favorable materials for the simultaneous selective detection uranium solution from water, being potentially useful in monitoring water quality and treating uranium‐wastewater. Abstract: A new series of rigid–flexible lanthanide coordination polymers, namely, [Eu(BSA)(glu)(H2O)2]·H2O (Ln=Eu(1), Sm(2), Ce(3), Pr(4), Nd(5)); H2glu=glutaric acid, HBSA=benzene sulfonic acid), have been constructed by a solution synthesis method from the self-assembly of the lanthanide ions (Ln3+) with the flexible aliphatic dicarboxylate glutaric and the rigid aromatic benzene sulfonic acid. The novel coordination polymer {[In 3 (OH) 2 L 2 (H 2 O) 2 ]·H 3 O} n ( 1 ) was obtained by the hydrothermal reactions of InCl 3 with a V-shaped multi-carboxylate ligand, 3,3′,4,4′-oxidiphthalic acid (H 4 OA), and an N-donor ligand (4,4′-bipyridine). Polymer 1 was characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectroscopy, UV–Vis spectroscopy, powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), thermogravimetric analysis, photoluminescent (PL) spectra and surface photovoltage spectra. Various properties of H 4 OA and the polymer 1 were studied in the solid state and liquid state at room temperature. The single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis revealed that the coordination polymer possessed a new fascinating 3D network framework with evenly arranged pores, and the uncoordinated 4,4′-bipy molecules are embedded the robust 3D porous structure. This encouraged us to realize the influence of the N-donor ligand on the structure of the polymer. The metal–organic framework structural analysis revealed that the flexible multi-carboxylate and N-donor auxiliary ligands are effective building blocks in constructing coordination polymers with visually beautiful architectures. It provides a possibility for us to further study the multi-carboxylate OA 4− ligand, which may adopt varied coordination modes in the formation of polymers. In the meantime we have conducted a test on malachite green dye adsorption and have obtained some good results, which is promising for application of polymer 1 in the field of water pollution treatment. • The compounds 1 and 2 were synthesized by the solution volatilization method. • The compound 1 exhibited excellent photocatalytic and adsorption properties for dyes. • The photocatalytic and adsorption mechanisms of compound 1 are carefully analyzed. Two compounds [BiI 4 (phen)·(Hphen)] 2 (1) and Bi(phen) 2 (NO 3) 3 (2) were synthesized by the solution volatilization method. They were characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectroscopy, UV–vis spectroscopy, X-ray powder diffraction, and thermogravimetric analysis in detail. The experimental results show that compound 1 can not only degrade organic cationic dyes: Rhodamine B (RhB), Methylene Blue (MB), Crystal Violet (CV), and neutral dye Rose Bengal sodium salt (RBS) under visible light, but also adsorb anionic dyes Eosin, Coomassie Brilliant Blue (CBB) and Methyl Orange (MO). Compound 1 could photocatalytic degradation of mixed organic dyes, and distinguish them. After adsorption of CBB, compound 1 still had nearly identical for MB and CV by photocatalytic degradation effects. The kinetic study shows that the photocatalytic process is suitable to the pseudo-first-order kinetic equation, while the adsorption process belongs to the pseudo-second-order kinetic equation. By capturing the experiment and solid fluorescence spectrum, it was demonstrated that the photocatalytic is a free radical reaction. The adsorption mechanism was further investigated through atomic force microscopy and theoretical calculation. In addition, the photocatalytic degradation efficiency of compound 1 remained above 90% after 5 cycles. Therefore, compound 1 can be used as a potential catalyst in dye wastewater treatment. • A 3D supramolecular layered MOF Bi-BDC was synthesized. • Higher degradation efficiency of Bi-BDC for both anionic and cationic dyes. • Bi-BDC can degrade mixed dyes simultaneously. A self-assembled Bi-MOF {[Bi(BDC) 1.5 (DMF)(H 2 O)]·DMF} n (Bi-BDC) (H 2 BDC = terephthalic acid, DMF = N , N-dimethylformamide) was designed and synthesized by the reaction of bismuth nitrate and H 2 BDC under solvothermal conditions. The basic structure of the complex was characterized by elemental analysis, infrared spectroscopy, UV–vis spectroscopy, PXRD, single crystal X-ray diffraction and thermogravimetric analysis. The structure analysis shows that the Bi-BDC has a three-dimensional supramolecular layered network structure by p - π interaction. In addition, the properties of the Bi-BDC on photocatalytic degradation of organic dyes were investigated. Surprisingly, it has superior degradation rate for both anionic and cationic dyes with a very short time by adding hydrogen peroxide. Furthermore, the kinetic analysis, degradation of mixed dyes, recycle experiments and catalytic mechanism were investigated. Abstract: A series of the p-bis[(1-pyrazolyl)methyl] benzene ligands (L1 –L6 ) in the DMSO system were synthesized. In the mean time, by using the ligands as a linker, a new family of transition metal coordination polymers, namely, [Cu2(L1 )2Cl4] (1), [Cu2(L2 )2Cl4] (2), [Ag(L2 )(NO3)] (3), [Zn2(L2 )2(SCN)4] (4) and [Cd2(L2 )(SCN)4] (5) [L1 =1,4-bis((1H-pyrazol-1-yl)methyl)benzene; L2 =1,4-bis(3,5-dimethyl-1H-pyrazol-1-yl)methyl)benzene] have been constructed by the reaction of the p-bis[(1-pyrazolyl)methyl]benzene and corresponding to the transition metal compounds in a mixed solution of CH3OH/C2H5OH at mild temperature condition. All the coordination polymers and p-bis[(1-pyrazolyl)methyl]benzene ligands were characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectroscopy, 1H NMR and 13C NMR, and some of them were characterized by UV spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, X-ray powder and X-ray single-crystal diffraction. Structural analyses reveal that the ligands L3 –L5 (L3 =1,4-bis((4-iodo-1H-pyrazol-1-yl)methyl)benzene, L4 =1,4-bis((4-iodo-3,5-dimethyl-1H-pyrazol-1-yl)methyl)benzene, L5 =1,4-bis((4-nitro-1H-pyrazol-1-yl)methyl)benzene,L6 =1,4-bis((4-nitro-3,5-dimethyl-1H-pyrazol-1-yl) methyl) benzene) are discrete organic compound molecules and the complexes 1–5 are 1D M–L–M coordination polymers, which are further interlinked via hydrogen bonds resulting in 2D or even 3D supermolecular networks. The luminescent properties of the coordination polymers 3, 4 and 5 were examined by luminescence spectra. The analytic results indicate that different metal complexes with the same ligand have different influence on the characteristic photoluminescence. Furthermore, the cytotoxicity of the ligands L1 –L6 and complexes 1–5 were evaluated against hepG2 cells. For the ligands of L1 –L6 , the different substituents of the pyrazole ring slightly influenced the cytotoxicity of the cell. It is found that nitro-compounds have shown the highest cytotoxicity under the same concentration condition. Abstract: Two new Fe(II) coordination polymers, [Fe(dcbp)(H2O)2]n 1 and [Fe(pdc)(H2O)2]n∙nH2O 2 (H2dcbp=4,4′-dicarboxy-2,2′-bipyridine, H2pdc=pyridine-2,5-dicarboxylic acid), were synthesized by hydrothermal method and characterized by IR, UV–Vis absorption spectra, elemental analysis, electron paramagnetic resonance spectra and X-ray single crystal diffraction. The surface photoelectric properties of Fe(II) coordination polymers were discussed emphatically by surface photovoltage spectroscopy (SPS). The structural analyses indicate that 1 is 3D coordination polymer bridged by dcbp2− groups and 2 is 2D layer structure bridged by pdc2− groups. The results of SPS show that there are photoelectric responses in the range of 300–550nm, which reveals that they all possess photoelectric conversion properties. By the comparison and analysis, it is found that the dimension, species of ligands and coordination micro-environment of the Fe(II) ions should affect the results of the SPS. Abstract: Four new heterometallic polymers, [NiCd(mal)2(H2O)2]n·2nH2O 1, [NiZn2(Hcit)2(H2O)2]n 2, [CoCd2(Hcit)2(H2O)2]n 3, [CoZn2(Hcit)2(H2O)2]n 4 (H2mal=malonic acid, H4cit=citric acid) were synthesized and characterized. The photoelectric properties of the polymers were discussed by the surface photovoltage spectroscopy (SPS). The structural analyses indicate 1 is a Ni–Cd heterometallic polymer with 3D structure bridged by the mal2– group. 2–4 are all heterometallic polymers with 2D structures bridged by the Hcit3– group. The results of SPS for the four polymers reveal that there are wide photovoltage response bands in the range of 300–800nm, which indicates that they all possess photoelectric conversion properties. By the introduction of the other metals, the SPS of heterometallic polymers are broadened obviously than the SPS of monometallic complexes. Abstract: Two-dimensional coordination polymers, [M(C8H12O4)(C10H8N2)]·H2O [M=Co (1), Cd (2); C10H8N2 =4,4-bipyridine, C8H14O4 =subaric acid] were obtained from the reaction of the metal salts, bipy and subaric acid at 180°C and characterized by elemental analysis, infrared spectrum, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction and surface photovoltage spectrum (SPS). The single-crystal X-ray diffraction showed that the subaric ligand in the two complexes exhibits two types of modes coordinating to transition metal ions, resulting in the formation of a 1D infinite chain along the c-axis. In addition, the results of SPS for complexes 1 and 2 indicate that these two complexes exhibit positive surface photovoltage responses in the range of 300–800nm, which can be assigned to LMCT and MLCT, respectively. We successfully synthesized two coordination polymers [Cu 2 (H 2 TTHA)(H 2 O) 6 ] (1) and [Cu 3 (H 3 TTHA)(μ 3 -O)(μ 3 -OH)(μ 2 -H 2 O) 2 (H 2 O)]·2H 2 O (2) by using metal Cu2+ and ligand H 6 TTHA, and used coordination polymer 1 to study the behaviors of catalytic reduction of 4-NP and the fluorescent respond to detect Fe3+. • Two coordination polymers were synthesized, 1 can detect Fe3 + and act as a catalyst. A new protonated coordination polymer [Cu 2 (H 2 TTHA)(H 2 O) 6 ] (1) containing two uncoordinated carboxylate acid groups was synthesized under the condition of hydrothermal, and a series of characterizations including elemental analysis, infrared spectroscopy, PXRD, thermogravimetric analysis, and ultraviolet–visible spectroscopy were performed. It has a 3D supramolecular network structure. In order to further study the reproducible synthesis conditions, we unexpectedly got a partly protonated coordination polymer material [Cu 3 (H 3 TTHA)(μ 3 -O)(μ 3 -OH)(μ 2 -H 2 O) 2 (H 2 O)]·2H 2 O (2), which was different from the structure of 1 and contained three uncoordinated carboxylate acid groups in the framework structure. It was found that coordination polymer 1 has good catalytic activity for the catalytic reduction of 4-NP under mild reaction conditions. In the meantime, it can be used as a sensor to detect a small amount of Fe3+ (1 mM), and the detection limit for Fe3+ is 21 μM. With the rapid development of nuclear energy, one of the main constraints restricting the development of nuclear energy is the long‐term safe disposal of strong uranium waste. Here it is a great significance that we use four new synthetic Ln (III)‐based coordination polymers to test the uranium solution. In this study, four three‐dimensional coordination polymers 1–4 (CPs‐(1–4); Ln = Eu, Gd, Sm, Nd) were successfully synthesized through 1:1 complexation of Ln (NO3)3·6H2O with poly‐carboxylic acid ligand H3TIBTC (2,4,6‐Triiodo‐1,3,5‐benzene tricarboxylic acid) which contains substituents of the carboxylic acid group and halogen atom, respectively. Based on the ligand being excellent fluorescent properties in the solution, it prompted us to further study the fluorescence properties of the coordination polymers. Experimental results show that the coordination polymers are favorable materials for the simultaneous selective detection uranium solution from water, being potentially useful in monitoring water quality and treating uranium‐wastewater.
