This study analyses the news coverage of suicide on Spanish public television since the beginning of the confinement, produced as a preventive measure in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic. A mixed methodology has been used. The technique used is the analysis of the content of the information transmitted in the news programmes. The results show that public television pays attention to the subject of suicide by including it in its news agenda, focusing mainly on completed suicides. No relevant link between suicide and the COVID-19 pandemic as a triggering factor is perceived in the news programmes. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
