Aim: To investigate the distribution of tubal endometriosis (EM) in the right and left sides and four parts of the fallopian tube. Methods: A retrospective, cross‐sectional study was conducted on patients with tubal EM at the Fourth Affiliated Hospital of Guangxi Medical University from October 2011 to September 2021. Chi‐square and binomial tests were used for analysis. Results: Thirty‐four patients (53.97%) had tubal resection due to EM (EM group). Twenty‐nine patients (46.03%) had tubal resection due to non‐EM (non‐EM group). Thirty‐two patients (50.80%) had left fallopian tube EM, 21 (33.33%) had right fallopian tube EM, and 10 (15.87%) had bilateral fallopian tube EM, with significant differences among them (p = 0.000). In the EM group, 15 patients (44.12%) had left fallopian tube EM, 13 (38.23%) had right fallopian tube EM, and 6 (17.65%) had bilateral fallopian tube EM (p = 0.052). In the non‐EM group, statistically different (p = 0.001) diagnoses of left fallopian tube EM, right fallopian tube EM, and bilateral fallopian tube EM were 17 (58.62%), 8 (27.59%), and 4 (13.79%), respectively. In the EM group, 18 patients (52.94%) were in the ampullary region; 16 (47.06%) were in the nonampullary region (p = 0.864). In the non‐EM group, 22 cases (75.86%) were in the ampullary region and 7 (24.14%) were in the nonampullary region, with a significant difference between them (p = 0.008). Conclusions: The incidence of left fallopian tube EM was higher than that of right and bilateral fallopian tube EM. The incidence of tubal ampullary EM was higher than that of nonampullary region. Introduction: The World Health Organization estimated that approximately 48 million couples and 186 million people are infertile worldwide. Although the problem of infertility is increasing worldwide, as well as in Ethiopia, there are limited studies done. Therefore, this study aims to determine the magnitude of infertility and the major risk factors in three governmental hospitals in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.Method: An institutional-based cross-sectional study design was used to conduct the study. The participants were selected by using a systematic random sampling technique. Data were collected through an interview using a structured questionnaire. The data were entered into Epi Data version 3.1 and exported to SPSS version 25 for analysis. Logistic regression was used to identify the predictor variables. Statistical significance was considered at a P < 0.05 with an adjusted odds ratio calculated at 95% CI.Result: The overall prevalence of infertility was 27.6% (95%CI = 23.2, 32.0). Of these, 14.4% had primary infertility, and 13.2% had secondary infertility. Those whose duration of marriage was less than 60 months [AOR = 3.85; 95%CI 1.39, 10.64], had a history of fallopian tube obstructions [AOR = 8.27; 95%CI 2.36, 28.91], had irregular frequency of coitus [AOR = 37.4; 95%CI 11.29, 124.114], had more than one sex partner [AOR = 3.51; 95%CI 1.64, 7.54], had an abortion greater than 3 times [AOR = 6.89; 95%CI 1.28, 37.09], and had partners who currently consumed alcohol [AOR = 1.31; 95%CI 1.11, 1.86] were more likely to be infertile than their counterparts.Conclusion: According to the results of this study, the prevalence of infertility was high compared to the global estimate of the World Health Organization. The government, health care providers, and researchers should emphasize developing appropriate strategies, research, education, and awareness creation of infertility and its potential causes. Background: Laparoscopic surgery for fallopian tubal occlusion (LSFFTO) could be an alternative method for tubal factor infertility. Here, we conducted this study to identify the factors associated with the success rate of LSFFTO in Vietnamese infertile women. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted on infertile women (n=50). These patients were infertile due to distal tubal occlusions, and diagnosed via laparoscopic surgery (LS) with methylene blue administration. Both fallopian tubes (FT) were repaired and opened after LS. We used a self-developed tool to collect information from study subjects. The binary logistic regression method was used to find the associated factors with surgery outcome each side and both sides. Results: Among 50 infertile women in the study, the percentage of opening status for FT was quite similar in both sides, 48% in left tube and 50% in right one. There were three factors associated with surgery outcomes in each side including secondary infertility, did not have tubal occlusion before LS, having history of miscarriage (induced abortions). For both tubes, there were 2 factors associated with the surgery outcomes: being no fallopian tubal occlusions before LS and having adhesions at the proximal part of Fallopian tube during the LS. Conclusion: Our findings had highlighted the evidence of associated factors which affected LS in each side and both sides of fallopian tubes among Vietnamese infertile women. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective: To determine the prevalence of Chlamydia trachomatis infection among Nigerian women undergoing hysterosalpingography (HSG) and to identify any correlation between chlamydial antibody levels and a diagnosis of tubal disease.Methods: A prospective cross-sectional study was conducted from January 1 to June 30, 2013, among women scheduled to undergo HSG in the radiology department of Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Nigeria. Endocervical swabs and serum samples were collected to assess the levels of chlamydial antigen and antibody, respectively.Results: Among 150 participants, 83 (55.3%) had bilateral tubal patency and 67 (44.7%) had tubal disease. Overall, 53 (35.3%) women had positive test results for chlamydial antibodies; however, none of the participants tested positive for chlamydial antigen. Women with tubal disease were more likely to test positive for chlamydial antibodies (n=44 [65.7%]) than were those whose test results were negative (n=9 [10.8%]; P<0.001). The sensitivity and specificity of chlamydial antibody testing to predict tubal disease diagnosed by HSG were 66% and 89%, respectively.Conclusion: The presence of chlamydial antibodies was quantitatively related to the likelihood of HSG-diagnosed tubal disease. Objective: To determine the prevalence of bacterial vaginosis among women with tubal factor infertility.Methods: A cross-sectional prospective study of women with tubal factor infertility was conducted at a Nigerian teaching hospital between March and September 2014. An equal number of fertile women attending the family planning clinic were recruited as controls. Interviews were conducted to collect data on sociodemographic characteristics, history and characteristics of vaginal discharge, knowledge, and practices. Bacterial vaginosis was diagnosed using the Amsel criteria. Odds ratios (ORs) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were calculated to determine predisposing factors.Results: Overall, 178 women with tubal factor infertility were recruited. Bacterial vaginosis was noted in 50 (28.1%) of these women, compared with 14 (7.9%) of 178 fertile women (P < 0.001). Patients with tubal factor infertility had an increased risk of bacterial vaginosis when they were of low socioeconomic class (OR 11.89; 95% CI 5.20-27.69), practiced vaginal douching (OR 19.15; 95% CI 7.26-47.75), used vaginal drying agents (OR 17.04; 95% CI 6.91-43.24), had an early sexual debut (OR 32.08; 95% CI 12.02-88.89), and had a history of sexually transmitted infections (OR 12.42; 95% CI 5.36-29.35).Conclusion: The prevalence of bacterial vaginosis was high among patients with tubal factor infertility. Objectives. To evaluate the diagnostic performance of medical history in the diagnosis of tubal pathology among subfertile patients. Patients and Methods. Prospective cross-sectional study was performed. Prior to tubal evaluation, medical history data were collected. Sensitivity, specificity, and likelihood ratios (LRs) for predicting tubal pathology as determined by laparoscopy and dye test were calculated for each issue of medical history. Results. 39.6 % (59/149) were diagnosed with tubal pathology. The sensitivity for the different issues ranged between 1.7 and 54.2% and the specificity between 75.6 and 97.8%. The estimated highest value of positive LR is attributed to the history of ectopic pregnancy and lowest of negative LR to pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) and abdominal surgery. Conclusion. The positive history of PID, sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), abdominal and laparoscopic surgery, and ectopic pregnancy are satisfactory screening tests for ruling the tubal pathology in. Introduction: Implantation is one of critical step in human reproductive processes. There are many factors that affect successful implantation. Good quality embryo or blastocyst is a prerequisite to successful implantation together with a receptive endometrium. The purpose of this study is to describe the patient clinical profile and to investigate the factors of interest association with implantation status. Methods: This is a cross sectional study involving patients planned for in vitro fertilization (IVF) treatment in the hospital infertility clinic. All demographic data and clinical profile data of the patient in each visit was recorded. Among the data taken were, physical examination data, patient history, causes of infertility, hormonal investigation and outcome at the end of treatment (presence of fetal heart). Successful implantation is indicated by presence of fetal heart. Results: A total of 246 patients record were collected. Mean age of the patient was 34.2 (SD = 4.12) years old. Mean BMI was 24.5 kg/m2 (SD=4.70). Mean of infertility years among the patients was 5.9 years (SD= 3.40). Most cause of infertility was tubal issues 87 cases (35.4%). The prevalence of successful implantation was 12.8% ((95% CI 7.8%, 17.8%). None of the factors of interest (age, BMI, infertility duration, progesterone at baseline, progesterone at trigger day) were found associated with successful implantation. Out of 224 patients, 53 (21.5%) were having elevated progesterone level at trigger day. However, in this study, there is no conclusive evidence that level of progesterone is associated with successful implantation. Conclusion: The successful implantation in our setting is approximately 1/10 of IVF treatment. Implantation involved a complex mechanism, thus there is wide variety of etiologies to predict for successful implantation. Thus, further study on wide comprehensive of risk factors is warranted.
