A new Bi(III) coordination polymer Bi 2 (Hpdc) 2 (pdc) 2 ·2H 2 O (H 2 pdc=pyridine-2,6-dicarboxylic acid) was synthesized by hydrothermal method. Solid state thermal decomposition of this complex under 500 °C for 1 h led to the foliated Bi 2 O 3 nanoparticles, which were then characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Comparative study on their photocatalytic activity toward the degradation of rhodamine B (RhB), methylene blue (MB) and methyl orange (MO) in polluted water was explored, and the mechanism of these photocatalytic degradation was discussed. Reactions of copper salts, zoledronic acid, and 2,2′-bipyridine/1,10-phenanthroline in aqueous ethanolic solutions afforded four phosphonate oxygen-bridged copper complexes, Cu(bipy)(H4zdn)(HSO4) (1), [Cu2(bipy)2(H2zdn)(H2O)(Cl)]·4H2O (2), [Cu2(phen)2(H2zdn)(H2O)(Cl)]·2.5H2O (3), and [Cu3(bipy)3(H4zdn)(H2zdn)(SO4)]·5H2O (4) (H5zdn = zoledronic acid, bipy = 2,2′-bipyridine, phen = 1,10-phenanthroline). The copper centers of1–4have square pyramidal coordination geometries. The Cu(II) ions are coordinated to bipy/phen, zoledronate, and HSO4−/Cl−forming mononuclear units for1, dinuclear for2and3, and trinuclear for4. These building units are further extended into 3-D supramolecular networks via multiple hydrogen bond interactions. Temperature-dependent magnetic properties of2and4suggest weak antiferromagnetic coupling (J = −4.53(8) cm−1for2,J = −1.69(4) cm−1for4). Two 2-(1-imidazole)-1-hydroxyl-1,1׳-ethylidenediphosphonato and oxalic acid bridged coordination polymers (H 2 en)[Co 3 (H 2 zdn) 2 (ox)(H 2 O) 2 ] ( 1 ) and Cd 2 (H 2 zdn)(ox) 0.5 (H 2 O) ( 2 ) (2-(1-imidazole)-1-hydroxyl-1,1׳-ethylidenediphosphonic acid=H 5 zdn; oxalic acid=H 2 ox) were synthesized under hydrothermal conditions and characterized by the infrared (IR), thermogravimetric analyses (TGA), elemental analyses (EA) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). Compound 1 is bridged by phosphonate anions to 1D chain, and further linked by oxalate anions to 2D layer. Compound 2 is bridged by O–P–O units of H 5 zdn to the layer, and then pillared by oxalate anions to generate 3D frameworks. Compound 1 shows anti-ferromagnetic behaviors analyzed with the temperature-dependent zero-field ac magnetic susceptibilities, while compound 2 exhibits an influence on the luminescent property. Self-assemblies of the 2,4,6-tris(2-pyridyl)-1,3,5-triazine (tptz) and Cu(OH)2in the presence of dicarboxylate ligands yielded four new complexes, [Cu4(bpca)4(L1)2(H2O)2]·5H2O (1), [Cu2(bpca)2(L2)(H2O)2]·2H2O (2), [Cu2(bpca)2(L3)(H2O)2]·H2O (3), and [Cu2(bpca)2(L4)(H2O)2]·3H2O (4) (bpca = bis(2-pyridylcarbonyl)amide anion, H2L1 = phthalic acid, H2L2 = succinic acid, H2L3 = maleic acid, H2L4 = acetylenedicarboxylic acid). Their structures were determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analyzes and further characterized by IR spectra and thermogravimetric analyzes. The five-coordinate Cu ions in1are bridged by phthalate to form 1-D chains, which are assembled into 3-D frameworks by extensive hydrogen bonds. Treatment of freshly precipitated Cu(OH)2 · xH2O and 2,4,6-tris(2-pyridyl)-1,3,5-triazine (tptz) with oxalic and malonic acids in methanol-water at room temperature gave [Cu(tptz)(C2O4)(H2O)] · 4H2O (1) and [Cu(pma)(C3H2O4)(H2O)] · H2O (2) (pma = 2-aminocarbonylpyridine), respectively. Reaction in the absence of any acid resulted in [Cu(bpca)(tca)] · 2H2O (3) (bpca = bis(2-pyridylcarbonyl)amide anion; tca = 2-pyridinecarboxylate anion). Complex 1 consists of [Cu(tptz)(C2O4)(H2O)] and lattice H2O molecules; the tridentate tptz ligand, bidentate oxalate dianion and an aqua ligand are bound to Cu with distorted octahedral geometry. Complex 2 is composed of [Cu(pma)(C3H2O4)(H2O)] and lattice H2O molecules; the bidentate 2-aminocarbonylpyridine ligand, a bidentate malonate dianion and an aqua ligand are coordinated to Cu with a slightly distorted square pyramidal geometry. Complex 3 consists of [Cu(bpca)(tca)] and lattice H2O molecules. Reactions of freshly prepared M(OH) 2 - 2 x (CO 3 ) x · y H 2 O (M = Mn, Zn) and 4,4′-bipyridine (bpy) with succinic acid (H 2 L) or fumaric acid (H 2 L′) in CH 3 OH-H 2 O afforded [Mn(H 2 O) 4 (bpy)]L · 4H 2 O, 1 , [Mn(H 2 O) 4 (bpy)]L′ · 4H 2 O, 2 and [Zn(H 2 O) 4 (bpy)]L · 4H 2 O, 3 . The three coordination polymers are isostructural and consist of [M(H 2 O) 4 (bpy) 2/2 ] 2+ cationic chains, crystal H 2 O molecules and dicarboxylate anions (succinate or fumarate anions). Within the chains, the metal atoms are each octahedrally coordinated by four aqua oxygen atoms and two pyridyl nitrogen atoms from two 4,4′-bipyridine ligands. The crystal H 2 O molecules are hydrogen bonded to dicarboxylate anions to form ribbon-like anionic chains. The cationic and anionic chains are interconnected via hydrogen bonds to generate a 3D network. Two fumarato-bridged Co(II) coordination polymers Co(H2O)4L 1 and [Co3(H2O)4(OH)2L2]·2H2O 2 with H2L&z.dbnd6;HOOCCH &z.dbnd6;CHCOOH were prepared. Complex 1 consists of polymeric chains ∞1[Co(H2O)4(C4H2O4)2/2], which result from octahedrally coordinated Co atoms bridged by bis-monodentate fumarate anions and are assembled by interchain hydrogen bonds. Within 2, the edge-shared Co2O10 bi-octahedra are connected to the CoO6 octahedra to form 1D cobalt oxide chains and 3D open framework generated from the chains inter-linked by bis-bidentate fumarate anions displays rhombic tunnels, which are filled with the lattice H2O molecules. Thermal and magnetic behaviors of both the title coordination polymers are discussed. Two novel hydrogen maleato (HL) bridged Cu(II) complexes ∞1[Cu(phen)Cl(HL)2/2] 1 and ∞1[Cu(phen)(NO3)(HL)2/2] 2 were obtained from reactions of 1,10-phenanthroline, maleic acid with CuCl2·2H2O and Cu(NO3)2·3H2O, respectively, in CH3OH/H2O (1:1 v/v) at pH=2.0 and the crystal structures were determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction methods. Both complexes crystallize isostructurally in the monoclinic space group P21/n with cell dimensions: 1 a=8.639(2) A˚, b=15.614(3) A˚, c=11.326(2) A˚, β=94.67(3)°, Z=4, Dcalc=1.720 g/cm3 and 2 a=8.544(1) A˚, b=15.517(2) A˚, c=12.160(1) A˚, β=90.84(8)°, Z=4, Dcalc=1.734 g/cm3. In both complexes, the square pyramidally coordinated Cu atoms are bridged by hydrogen maleato ligands into 1D chains with the coordinating phen ligands parallel on one side. Interdigitation of the chelating phen ligands of two neighbouring chains via π–π stacking interactions forms supramolecular double chains, which are then arranged in the crystal structures according to pseudo 1D close packing patterns. Both complexes exhibit similar paramagnetic behavior obeying Curie–Weiss laws χm(T−θ)=0.414 cm3 mol−1 K with the Weiss constants θ=−1.45, −1.0 K for 1 and 2, respectively. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

• Three new 3D uranyl-organic frameworks have been synthesized. • Compounds 1 and 3 have good degradation effect to tetracycline hydrochloride. • Compound 2 can be used as adsorbent for removal of TC in the aqueous solution. Nitroterephthalic acid (H 2 ntp), 2,5-dibromoterephthalic acid (H 2 bdc) and N,N′-donor ligands have been employed to synthesize three uranyl compounds: (H 2 -tmp)[(UO 2)(ntp) 2 ]·H 2 O (1), (2,2′-Hbpy)[(UO 2) 2 (ntp) 2.5 ]·H 2 O (2) and [(UO 2)(bdc)(4,4′-bpy) 0.5 ] (3) [where 2,2′-bpy = 2,2′-dipyridyl, 4,4′-bpy = 4,4′-dipyridyl, tmp = tetramethylpyrazine]. Single-crystal X-ray crystal structures of compounds 1 – 3 have been determined. Compounds 1 and 2 consist of dinuclear units, which are linked by ntp2− ligands on the equatorial plane to form 2D network, the layers are further bridged by the carboxylate at the angles of 118.69° (1) and 106.18° (2) in the axial position to form the 3D frameworks. In compound 3 , each uranyl center is bridged by four bdc2− ligands to form a 3D framework with the carboxylate at the angle of 73.96° on the equatorial plane, and the 4,4′-bpy further consolidates the crystal structure. Compounds 1 – 3 have been characterized by IR, powder X-ray diffraction, UV-vis absorption spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis and photoluminescence spectroscopy. Abstract: Three new phosphate-bridged copper(II) complexes, [Cu4(H2O)2(phen)4(μ4-PO4)2(μ2-O)]·11H2O (1), [Cu4(bpy)4(μ4-PO4)2(μ2-Cl)2]·18H2O (2) and [Cu2(bpp)4(H2PO4)2](HPO4)·H2O (3) (phen=1,10-phenanthroline, bpy=2,2-bipydine and bpp=1,3-bis(4-pyridyl)-propane), have been synthesized under ambient conditions. The tetranuclear Cu(II) butterfly cores in 1 are aggregated to 2D supramolecular layer via intermolecular π–π stacking interactions. In 2, the dinuclear copper units are bridged by the phosphate and Cl− anion to generate centrosymmetric tetranuclear complex molecules [Cu4(bpy)4(μ4-PO4)2(μ2-Cl)2], which are aggregated to 2D layers via π–π stacking interactions. The Cu atoms in 3 are interlinked by a pair of bpp ligands to generate 2D (4,4) network which is through twofold ‘2D parallel/2D parallel’ mode inclined interpenetration to induce 3D motifs. The variable temperature magnetic characterizations suggest antiferromagnetic coupling interactions with J =−9.38 and −28.03cm−1 for 1, J =−2.41cm−1 for 2, respectively. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

Abstract: Four butane-1,2,3,4-tetracarboxylato bridged supramolecular complexes [Co2(H2O)5(BTC)]·2H2O 1, [Co2(H2O)5(BTC)]·2H2O 2, [Co2(H2O)6(bpy)2(BTC)]·4H2O 3 and [Co2(H2O)2(bpy)2(BTC)] 4, (H4BTC=butane-1,2,3,4-tetracarboxylic acid, 2,2-bpy=2,2-bipydine) are synthesized and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. IR spectroscopy, TG-DTA analyses, elemental analyses, powder X-ray diffraction and magnetic measurements for 3 and 4 are carried out. The dinuclear Co unit in 2 is bridged by BTC4− anions into 2D layers, which are assembled via interlayer hydrogen bonds into a 3D (44·62)(45·65)2(46·68·8) topological supramolecular architecture. In 3, the [Co2(H2O)6(bpy)2(BTC)] molecules are aggregated to 2D layers via π–π stacking interactions, the resulting layers are engaged in hydrogen bonding leading to a novel 3D supramolecular architecture with the schläfli symbol of (102.12)2(4.102)2(42.102.122). The Co atoms in 4 are linked by BTC4− anions into a 1D chain, then the hydrogen bonding and π–π stacking interactions result in formation of a 3D novel (43.62.8)2(46.66.83)(63)2 topological networks. The variable temperature magnetic characterizations on 3 and 4 suggest weak antiferromagnetic or ferromagnetic coupling exchange via π···π stacking interactions (J =–0.03cm−1 for 3, J =0.11cm−1 for 4).
