Es dóna una especial rellevància a una organització: Cultura Popular, i quatre bibliotecaris: Tomás Navarro Tomás, Juan Vicens, María Moliner i Teresa Andrés., A study of three areas of library-related activities carried out by the government of the Republic during Spain’s Civil War: the creation of libraries at the front, in military posts and in hospitals; the work involved in confiscating and protecting books and libraries, both public and private; and the activities of the Library Section of the Central Council for Archives, Libraries and Artistic Treasures. The article first provides the background for these activities, including a mention of efforts made on public libraries between 1931 and 1936 such as: the development of libraries for workers; the small collections of 100 volumes sent and lent by the Foundation for Pedagogic Missions to more than 5,000 towns and villages; and the 200 municipal public libraries opened during the period 1933-1936.
