The article reports on a need to improve the health status of Australia's Indigenous population which exists in 2012 and discusses the role that increased affordability, accessibility and cultural appropriateness of health services can play in improving the health of Indigenous people. In the article the authors offer their opinions on the term cultural safety, which is used to connote active behavioral strategies that ensure appropriate and effective cultural engagement with Indigenous people.
