Background: Iris cyst can lead to iridocyclitis, angle closure, secondary glaucoma, corneal decompensation, band keratopathy, cataract, subluxation of the lens, or visual disturbance leading to amblyopia or strabismus. Incomplete removal of cyst can lead to recurrence. Recurrent surgeries are more complicated and compromise prognosis. So, complete removal of cyst with minimal anatomical disturbances is essential for better outcomes., Purpose: To define a new technique of triple treatment therapy for iris cyst management., Synopsis: Iris cyst was treated in three steps. In the first step, iris cyst aspiration followed by cyst cavity treatment with mitomycin-C was done. After that, cyst cavity was irrigated with balanced salt solution (BSS). In the second step, the anterior cyst wall was removed with a vitrectomy cutter. In the third step, the posterior cyst wall was cauterized with diathermy., Highlights: In this technique, we chose a minimally invasive approach utilizing two 1-mm incisions leading to less astigmatism. Iridectomy was not performed, which led to a small iris defect postoperatively, and pupilloplasty was not required. Injection of mitomycin-C led to destruction of the cyst wall, and diathermy further reduced the chance of recurrence by destroying the cyst base. Postoperatively, mild corneal edema was noted, which resolved in 1 week. Topical steroids were given to control postoperative inflammation. No recurrence has been noted till 6 months of follow-up. The more conservative approach seemed to result in better visual outcomes., Discussion: Wide varieties of approaches are available for iris cysts, like laser cystotomy, aspiration, diathermy, cryotherapy, injection of sclerosing agents, and surgery.[1] Yu et al.[2] treated iris cyst in a 60-year-old female with cyst content aspiration using 30G needle, followed by injection of 0.0002 mg/ml mitomycin-C in the cavity for 5 min. BSS wash was given five times at the end. They noted a decrease of 13.3% in endothelial cell count following the procedure. They speculate that transient application of MMC can cause permanent damage to the epithelial and goblet cells that secrete cyst fluid, hence resulting in regression of the cyst. Similarly, Kawaguchi et al.[3] aspirated cyst fluid with a 30G needle and left 0.3 ml of 10-3 mg/ml mitomycin-C for 5 min in the cavity, followed by BSS wash in a 32-year-old female with recurrent iris cyst. They reported a decrease of 4% in endothelial cell count postprocedure. Shen et al.[4] used micro diathermy to treat residual cyst wall attached to the endothelium and base of cyst in four cases. In our case, we have combined cyst aspiration, mitomycin-C, excision using vitrectomy cutter, and diathermy. No recurrence has been observed at the longest follow-up of 3 years. Respiratory epithelial cysts are uncommon lesions that can be congenital or acquired cystic malformations. Beyond the respiratory system, the location of the respiratory epithelial cyst has been described in the central nervous system, orbits, and the maxillofacial region. The common etiology is believed to be sequestration or entrapment of the epithelial cells of the paranasal sinus. To the best of the authors' knowledge, there are no prior reports on respiratory epithelial cyst involving the lacrimal sac. Congenital saccular cyst of the larynx is a rare cause of presentation of stridor and respiratory distress in newborns. The clinical presentation of a saccular laryngeal cyst often overlaps with other common causes of stridor, such as laryngomalacia, presenting a diagnostic dilemma for clinicians. We present a case of a term newborn infant referred for evaluation of inspiratory stridor since birth. Microlaryngoscopy and bronchoscopy confirmed the presence of a large cystic mass obstructing the supraglottis. Marsupialisation of the cyst was performed with resolution of stridor, and histopathological examination confirmed the diagnosis of a saccular laryngeal cyst. Our case highlights the importance of considering congenital saccular laryngeal cysts, although rare, in the differential diagnoses of neonatal stridor. Background: The Subglottic Cysts (SGCs) are a rare cause of respiratory distress in infants. Typical risk factors include male gender, extreme prematurity, gastro-oesophageal reflux and invasive ventilation, the latter being associated with mucosal damage and blockage of the subglottic cysts' ducts. We describe a case of acquired subglottic cysts in a premature infants presented with respiratory distress., Case Presentation: A premature male infant was born at 25 weeks + 2 days with a history of monochorionic diamniotic twin pregnancy with twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome. During hospitalization, invasive mechanical ventilation was necessary for a total of 18 days; the patient was discharged at postmenstrual age of 40 weeks + 1 day in good condition. At 43 weeks post-menstrual age, he presented to our department with mixed stridor and worsening of respiratory dynamics. A laryngotracheoscopy evaluation was performed. The exam showed the presence of multiple SGCs causing an almost complete obstruction of the airway. Because of the significant reduction of the airway's patency, the child underwent a tracheotomy and thereafter cysts' removal using cold steel microinstruments. A better airway patency was restored although a slight glottic edema persisted. The histopathology confirmed the benign nature of the lesions. Successive controls showed a completely patent airway and absence of SGCs., Conclusion: In conclusion, SGCs should be considered in preterm infants with respiratory distress previously intubated, which cannot be explained by the most common causes. Purpose: Phakic lens implantation in the ciliary sulcus of the eye can be complicated by coincident ciliary body cysts (CBC). We developed an ultrasound imaging and mapping protocol for these cysts., Methods: This is a retrospective case series of all patients who underwent ICL workup at a single institution from April 2015 to October 2019. A standardized ultrasound biomicroscopy (UBM) imaging protocol was developed to screen for CBCs in either the ciliary body or sulcus. The locations and dimensions of all CBCs were graphically represented., Results: The prevalence of CBCs in 158 patients undergoing ICL workup was 34.8%. Among the 159 CBCs detected in 55 patients, 83 were in the sulcus (52%) and 76 were restricted to the ciliary body (48%). ICLs were implanted in 40 eyes with CBCs and 3 eyes with CBCs located within the sulcus horizontally required ICL repositioning due to ICL rotation or iris chafing., Conclusion: CBCs were incidentally found in 34.8% of patients undergoing ICL workup. ICL implantation was complicated in 3 of the eyes with CBCs in the horizontal sulcus. Background: Tuberculous peritonitis often presents with nonspecific symptoms that can lead to diagnostic challenges, particularly when manifesting as peritoneal pseudocysts. This study highlights the clinical complexity and diagnostic approach of tuberculous peritonitis presented as a pseudocyst in an immunocompetent adult, an atypical scenario that is rarely documented., Case Presentation: We report a detailed case of a 41-year-old man presenting with abdominal distension, pain, and significant weight loss over four months. Abdominal CT showed a peritoneal pseudocyst, initially misdiagnosed due to its resemblance to more common abdominal pathologies. The diagnosis of tuberculous peritonitis was confirmed through histopathological analysis. Additionally, a systematic literature review was conducted to identify and analyse similar cases, focusing on clinical presentations, diagnostic methods, and patient outcomes. Our patient exhibited classic symptoms of abdominal TB but was unique due to the absence of prior ventriculoperitoneal shunting, a common factor in similar cases. Our literature review found that such presentations typically result in diagnostic delays averaging five months, complicating patient management and outcomes. This review also underscores the importance of considering tuberculosis in the differential diagnosis of peritoneal pseudocysts, particularly in TB-endemic regions., Conclusion: This case and review emphasize the need for high clinical suspicion and prompt investigation of tuberculosis in patients presenting with atypical abdominal symptoms and pseudocysts. Background: Intestinal duplication cyst is an infrequent congenital malformation that can involve all the segments of the gastrointestinal tract. The cases of intestinal duplication cyst involving the colon, appendix, and ileum in children are particularly uncommon. The symptoms of abdominal pain are similar to other acute abdominal diseases in children, such as appendicitis, intussusception, and intestinal obstruction, so sometimes its diagnosis is challenging and leads to misdiagnosis., Case Presentation: We report a 4-year-old Asian boy who presented to the pediatric emergency department with abdominal pain and vomiting but no fever, peritonitis, or mass. No abdominal abnormality was found via radiology and ultrasonography. After 2 days' anti-inflammatory therapy, the patient was discharged with pain relief. A total of 9 months later, he was readmitted to the pediatric emergency department for the same complaint as the first admission. Abdominal physical examination and ultrasound examination were still negative. Barium examination found a large mass in the colon. Colonoscopy was performed before operation to confirm the rare co-cavity intestinal duplication cyst involving the colon, appendix, and ileum. After resection of intestinal duplication and ileocolonic anastomosis, the patient's abdominal pain and vomiting has not recurred for 5 years postoperatively., Conclusions: The diagnosis of intestinal duplication cyst in children is difficult, especially the rare co-cavity and long segmental intestinal duplication, which is easily misdiagnosed. Background: Traumatic pulmonary pseudocyst is a rare "cystlike" lung lesion that typically develops following blunt chest trauma. It differs from lung cancer associated with cystic airspaces in terms of pathogenic mechanisms, clinical manifestations, and radiological features. Furthermore, there are few reports of the diagnostic bias between traumatic pulmonary pseudocyst and lung cancer associated with cystic airspaces. Here, we present a rare case of lung cancer associated with cystic airspaces that mimicks traumatic pulmonary pseudocyst., Case Presentation: A 61-year-old man with no chest medical or surgical history, no chest radiologic examination within the last five years, and no smoking history had an air-filled "cystlike" lesion surrounded by solid components and ground-glass opacities in the middle third of the right upper lobe of the lung during a computed tomography evaluation following blunt chest trauma. He was initially diagnosed with traumatic pulmonary pseudocyst and treated conservatively. On the third post-trauma day, he experienced hemoptysis, which was successfully treated with intravenous hemostatic medication. On the ninth post-trauma day, he exhibited a significant hemoptysis and a moderate dyspnea. A subsequent chest computed tomography scan demonstrated that the solid components had entered the lesion's cavity and significantly expanded, and the surrounding ground-glass opacities had slightly enlarged. A contrast-enhanced chest computed tomography scan and a three-dimensional reconstruction computed tomography image confirmed that the solid components were a hematoma caused by damage to the right upper pulmonary vein. A right upper lobectomy was performed based on the concern about severe intrapulmonary bleeding. An intraoperative frozen section analysis showed significant bleeding in the lung parenchyma. Adenosquamous carcinoma was unexpectedly identified during the postoperative pathological examination of the resected specimen. A diagnosis of primary lung adenosquamous carcinoma was made. He was discharged on the seventh postoperative day and followed up for two years without any recurrence., Conclusions: The potential of lung cancer associated with cystic airspaces should be considered for "cystlike" lung lesions discovered in elderly patients after blunt chest trauma. A comprehensive review of the medical history, meticulous analysis of the radiological findings, and close monitoring can help clinicians reduce the risk of diagnostic bias., (© 2024. Liver cyst infections often necessitate long-term hospital admission and are associated with considerable morbidity and mortality. We conducted a modified Delphi study to reach expert consensus for a clinical decision framework. The expert panel consisted of 24 medical specialists, including 12 hepatologists, from nine countries across Europe, North America, and Asia. The Delphi had three rounds. The first round (response rate 21/24 [88%]) was an online survey with questions constructed from literature review and expert opinion, in which experts were asked about their management preferences and rated possible management strategies for seven clinical scenarios. Experts also rated 14 clinical decision-making items for relevancy and defined treatment outcomes. During the second round (response rate 13/24 [54%]), items that did not reach consensus and newly suggested themes were discussed in an online panel meeting. In the third round (response rate 16/24 [67%]), experts voted on definitions and management strategies using an online survey based on previous answers. Consensus was predefined as a vote threshold of at least 75%. We identified five subclassifications of liver cyst infection according to cyst phenotypes and patient immune status and consensus on episode definitions (new, persistent, and recurrent) and criteria for treatment success or failure was reached. The experts agreed that fever and elevated C-reactive protein are pivotal decision-making items for initiating and evaluating the management of liver cyst infections. Consensus was reached on 26 management statements for patients with liver cyst infections across multiple clinical scenarios, including two treatment algorithms, which were merged into one after comments. We provide a clinical decision framework for physicians managing patients with liver cyst infections. Purpose: To report a rare case of atopic keratoconjunctivitis (AKC) presenting with bilateral corneal panni associated with limbal inclusion cysts in the left eye., Materials & Methods: Retrospective case report., Results: A 19-year-old female with AKC presented with bilateral corneal panni and limbal inclusion cysts in the left eye. Anterior segment swept-source optical coherence tomography showed bilateral hyperreflective epicorneal membrane and a lobulated cystic lesion in the left eye. Ultrasound biomicroscopy demonstrated a dense membrane overriding the cornea in both eyes and hyporeflective spaces separated by medium reflective septa in the cyst. The patient underwent excision of the limbal inclusion cyst and pannus in the left eye. Histopathological examination revealed subepithelial cystic lesion surrounded by non-keratinizing epithelium; areas of acanthosis, hyperkeratosis, parakeratosis, and hyperplasia in the epithelium of the pannus; as well as inflammation, fibrosis, and increase in vascularization in the stroma., Conclusion: To our knowledge, this is the first case of corneal pannus associated with limbal inclusion cysts in AKC. Surgical excision was done to establish the diagnosis as well as to improve vision in our case.

Background: We conducted this study to clarify the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) characteristics of lobular endocervical glandular hyperplasia (LEGH) and Nabothian cysts., Methods: This study included 48 patients who underwent hysterectomy at our institution between 2016 and 2020 for suspected LEGH. Histopathological studies confirmed the presence of 25 Nabothian cysts and 23 cases of LEGH. We retrospectively analyzed five characteristic MRI findings: (1) located at the upper cervical canal, (2) positioned within the cervical stroma, (3) not circumscribing the cervical canal, (4) low- to iso-intensity on T1-weighted images (T1WI), and (5) "cosmos" or "microcystic" pattern. We compared the diagnostic accuracy of these findings for LEGH and Nabothian cysts using sensitivity, specificity, and predictive values. Combinations of findings were also calculated., Results: The characteristics "cosmos" or "microcystic" pattern, lesion not circumscribing the cervical canal, and low/iso-intensity on T1WI had a sensitivity and specificity greater than 50%. The sensitivity was 73.9% and specificity 84.0% when a combination of "cosmos" or "microcystic" pattern and lesion not circumscribing the cervical canal was present., Conclusion: The coexistence of a "cosmos" or "microcystic" pattern and not circumscribing the cervical canal was the most characteristic finding that distinguished LEGH from Nabothian cysts. Splenic cysts are uncommon and classified into parasitic and non-parasitic origins. Non-parasitic cysts are further categorised into primary and secondary forms; primary cysts develop congenitally and progress into adulthood and secondary cysts result from factors such as abdominal trauma, infection or ischemia. This case series presents three instances of splenic cysts in children. The first case involves a splenic epidermoid cyst, the second a pseudocyst and the third a splenic epithelial cyst. All patients exhibited an abdominal lump in the left quadrant that increased in size over time, without additional symptoms. The third patient had a history of abdominal blunt trauma a year prior to symptom onset. Treatment approaches varied: the first and third patients underwent total splenectomy, while the second patient underwent aspiration drainage with frozen section analysis and partial splenectomy. All patients, first, second and third, were discharged 6, 3 and 5 days postoperatively, respectively, without complications. Splenic epithelial cyst (SEC) emerged as the predominant primary non-parasitic splenic cyst type, with an unclear pathogenesis. Typically asymptomatic, splenic cysts are commonly detected incidentally during imaging or exploratory laparotomy. Histopathology stands as the gold standard diagnostic method for splenic cysts. Although rare, paediatric splenic cysts should be considered in cases of abdominal trauma. Imaging serves a vital role in diagnosis, guiding decisions between conservative or surgical interventions based on cyst size, symptoms and associated complications.

Background: Cystic and nodular lung diseases encompass a broad spectrum of diseases with different etiologies and clinicoradiological presentations. Their differentiation is crucial for patient management but can be complex due to diseases with features of both categories and overlapping radiological patterns., Objective: This study aims to describe the imaging features of cystic and nodular lung diseases in high-resolution computed tomography (CT) in detail-primarily based on their etiology-in order to allow a more accurate differential diagnosis of these diseases., Materials and Methods: A narrative review based on current literature on the topic was conducted from a clinicoradiological perspective., Results: This paper systematically categorizes the differential diagnosis of cystic and nodular lung disease and provides insights into their radiological patterns and etiologies. It highlights the role of CT in the diagnosis of these diseases and emphasizes the importance of multidisciplinary panels combining expertise from radiology, pulmonology, rheumatology, and pathology., Conclusion: Reliable differential diagnosis of cystic and nodular lung diseases, particularly based on their radiological features alone, remains difficult due to their overlapping and dynamic nature. Multidisciplinary boards should be the clinical standard for accurate work-up of these diseases, as they combine the medical history, symptoms, radiological findings, and, if necessary, histopathological examinations, thus providing a more robust framework for diagnosis and management., (© 2024. The iris is a unique structure, with exquisite variations in colour and form. Pathological changes, specifically including iris cysts and tumours are relatively uncommon, difficult to diagnose, and yet potentially blinding or life-threatening. Based on a comprehensive literature review, with highly illustrated key case examples, this report aims to guide the clinician in filtering the differential diagnoses of iris cysts and tumours. Evaluation is in the context of key diagnostic clinical tools and management considerations. Diagnostic imaging techniques include serial anterior segment photography, ultrasound, anterior segment optical coherence tomography, and iris fluorescein angiography, however, the roles of computerised topography and magnetic resonance imaging are also considered in this review. Management includes categorisation in terms of solid iris tumours (melanocytic vs. non-melanocytic), or iris cysts (primary vs. secondary) that may be usefully differentiated by clinical assessment, avoiding more invasive interventions. Cystic lesions are generally benign, although implantation cysts in particular cause significant complications and surgical challenges. Most solid tumours are melanocytic and also typically benign. Background : Inflammatory lesions and cysts are the most common Bartholin glands pathologic diagnoses. There have been very few reports of benign solid lesions of Bartholin glands such as nodular hyperplasia. Materials and methods : Thirty-two lesions diagnosed as Bartholin duct cyst in the gynecologic specialized institute were reviewed by two expert gynecological pathologists. Results : Using specific criteria, 7 qualified as nodular hyperplasia, 25 as Bartholin duct cyst. The average age of the patients with nodular hyperplasia was 31 years (range, 24 to 43). These lesions were solid, solid and cystic or purely cystic, had a mean maximal dimension of 3.3 cm, and were frequently thought to be Bartholin cysts on clinical examination. Four lesions were diagnosed as Bartholin duct cysts, while in the review they were considered as nodular hyperplasia. Conclusion : Nodular hyperplasia of Bartholin gland may be more common than is reported in the literature. Abstract: Tailgut cysts are rare congenital abnormalities that develop due to failure of embryologic tailgut to involute. This generally manifests as a presacral, retrorectal and multicystic mass. It has a high propensity in female patients including paediatric age group. The clinical presentation varies depending on the age of patient, location and size of the cyst. The symptoms are mostly due to mass effects and rarely complications such as malignancy. Being a rare entity, it is generally misdiagnosed. Differential diagnosis mostly includes rectal duplication cyst, sacrococcygeal teratoma and anterior meningocele. Radiological imaging such as computed tomography scan and magnetic resonance imaging is useful in the diagnosis. The treatment of choice is complete excision to prevent recurrence, infection and malignant degeneration. A primary orbital respiratory cyst is a congenital choristoma that presents in the orbit and with different signs and symptoms depending on the location, which might also change the surgical approach. The aim of this report is to describe 2 new cases of primary respiratory epithelial cysts and to review the literature on presentation, management, and risk factors with different surgical approaches and complications. Two cases presenting with gradually increased proptosis had a confirmed diagnosis of a respiratory epithelial cyst. CT and MRI imaging revealed a thin-walled intraconal cystic lesion. Complete surgical removal was not possible and an incisional biopsy of the wall was performed. Rarely, orbital respiratory epithelium cysts are primary lesions. The high risk of breaking the capsule during surgery and the presence of residual epithelial cells within the orbit may cause cyst's recurrence. Focal liver lesions (FLLs) have become an increasingly common finding on abdominal imaging, especially asymptomatic and incidental liver lesions. Gastroenterologists and hepatologists often see these patients in consultation and make recommendations for management of multiple types of liver lesions, including hepatocellular adenoma, focal nodular hyperplasia, hemangioma, and hepatic cystic lesions including polycystic liver disease. Malignancy is important to consider in the differential diagnosis of FLLs, and healthcare providers must be familiar with the diagnosis and management of FLLs. Foregut duplication cyst is most commonly seen in the posterior mediastinum without communication with adjacent organs or presence of other malformations and typically shows ectopic gastric or respiratory epithelium. The finding of ectopic pancreatic tissue is extremely rare. A 15-year-old female patient presented with elevated blood pressure, intermittent right flank pain for 18 months. An abdominal MRI revealed a 4 cm right cystic retroperitoneal mass, initially thought to arise from the right adrenal gland. Intraoperatively, the mass was centered in the retroperitoneum between the right adrenal gland and kidney, without attachments to these organs and no communication with other structures, and it was completely excised. Gross examination revealed a 3.5 cm well-circumscribed solid and cystic mass with orange-white cut surface and cloudy fluid surrounded by variable amounts of adipose tissue. On microscopic examination, the cysts were lined by respiratory and gastric antral/oxyntic-type mucosa, surrounded by muscularis mucosae, submucosal tissue, muscularis propria, and perienteric tissue. Within the muscular propria, exocrine pancreatic tissue was also noted. The patient is well with 7-months of follow up. A 4-month-old girl was referred for evaluation of an anterior chamber cyst in the left eye. Examination under anesthesia (EUA) revealed a large iris stromal cyst in the anterior chamber involving the angle and the pupillary border, with touch of the corneal endothelium and anterior lens capsule. Intraocular pressure was normal. There was no anisometropic refractive error by retinoscopy. Close observation with amblyopia management was recommended as the pupil was only partially occluded by the cyst, and there was a clear red reflex around the cyst. Repeat EUA 6 months following diagnosis showed spontaneous collapse of the cyst. There was no recurrence noted at her most recent follow-up, 2 years after presentation, and most of the pupillary axis remains unobstructed by the cyst. The patient continues to be followed to monitor for possible cyst progression, anisometropia, and development of amblyopia. Background: Primary vitreous cyst is a clinical variant delineated by the existence of a vesicle within the vitreous cavity from birth. This particular disease tends to be uncommon, and the underlying mechanisms contributing to its pathogenesis remain obscure., Case Presentation: A 37-year-old male patient manifested blurry vision and floaters in his right eye, a symptomology first noticed three months prior. Upon slit-lamp examination, a pigmented, round, 1 papilla diameter-sized mass was discerned floating in the vitreous. A meticulous examination of the floaters was conducted using an array of multimodal imaging techniques. Other potential conditions, including cysticercosis, toxoplasmosis, and tumors, were conclusively excluded through comprehensive diagnostic tests such as blood examinations, liver ultrasound, and cranial magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), resulting in the diagnosis of a primary vitreous cyst. The patient did not report any other discomforts and did not receive any subsequent interventions or treatments., Conclusion: We furnish an exhaustive case report of a patient diagnosed with a primary vitreous cyst. Objective: We describe a rare case of uterine mesothelial cysts mimicking ovarian cysts in a primipara patient with a history of Cesarean section., Case Report: A 39-year-old female patient with history of Cesarean section presented with dysmenorrhea. Sonography revealed that a hypoechoic and anechoic multicystic complex, which was located on the right side of the pelvic cavity, had infiltrated the adjacent posterior wall of the uterus, and it was preoperatively misdiagnosed as ovarian cysts with suspected endometrioma. Laparoscopic surgery revealed multiple cystic lesions filled with clear yellow fluid on the posterior uterine wall instead of the adnexa. Laparoscopic uterine cystectomy was performed, and the patient's recovery was uneventful. Pathohistological and immunohistochemical examinations confirmed the diagnosis of uterine mesothelial cysts., Conclusion: Uterine mesothelial cysts should be considered in the differential diagnosis of pelvic lesions. Background: Many cutaneous lesions are clinically suspected as "cyst"; however, following histopathological examination, are found to be more significant lesions. Here, we examine the frequency and features of malignancies with cutaneous cysts in the clinical differential., Methods: A retrospective study of surgical pathology specimens at the James A. Haley Veterans' Hospital from January 2018 to December 2022 was conducted. Cutaneous specimens containing the clinical diagnosis of "cyst" were included. The clinicopathological features were summarized., Results: Premalignant or malignant neoplasms accounted for 4.5% of all specimens submitted with cysts in the clinical differential. Most cyst-mimicking cancers were basal cell carcinoma (BCC) or squamous cell carcinoma (SCC); however, cancers with poorer prognoses, such as Merkel cell carcinoma and melanoma, also clinically masqueraded as cysts. The BCCs were predominately nodular, and the SCCs were largely well-differentiated and invasive. Many exhibited clinical signs and symptoms compatible with benign cysts, such as central punctum, pain, and rapid growth. Identified risk factors included history of prior non-melanoma skin cancer diagnosis, previous excision, and immunosuppression., Conclusions: Many lesions clinically concerning cutaneous cysts were found to be malignancies following histopathological review. Purpose: To compare outcomes and complications of three surgical techniques for the treatment of congenital dacryocystoceles: nasolacrimal probing and irrigation (P+I), P+I plus nasal endoscopy (NE) with intranasal cyst marsupialization, and primary NE with intranasal cyst marsupialization., Methods: The medical records of children ≤2 years of age at a single academic center with a diagnosis of dacryocystocele from 2012 to 2022 were retrospectively identified and reviewed. The primary outcome was resolution of the dacryocystocele (ie, elimination of the medial canthal mass and resolution of tearing or discharge) after a single procedure ("primary success"). Surgical techniques were compared using exact logistic regression., Results: Of 54 patients, 21 (39%) underwent P+I, 23 (43%) underwent P+I plus nasal endoscopy, and 10 (18%) underwent primary NE. Primary success was 76% for P+I and 100% for the other two cohorts. Most patients (89%) who underwent P+I received general anesthesia compared with none who underwent primary nasal endoscopy. Most complications were related to the use of general anesthesia, with a complication rate of 10% for P+I, 48% for P+I plus NE, and 0% for primary NE. Background. Enteric duplication cysts are rare but can occur in various parts of the gastrointestinal tract, including the pancreas. Most enteric duplication cysts are benign; however, neoplastic transformation has been reported in a few cases, with adenocarcinoma being the most common malignant transformation. Case Presentation. We present an adult with a pancreatic enteric duplication cyst and low-grade mucinous neoplasm. The patient did not exhibit any clinically significant symptoms or physical signs. Imaging revealed a cystic mass in the pancreatic head. Upon pathological examination, the cyst was found to have a bilayered muscular wall with an inner surface lined with pseudostratified mucinous columnar epitheliums. High-power microscopy revealed low-grade dysplasia in epithelial cells. The final pathological diagnosis confirmed an enteric duplication cyst with a low-grade mucinous neoplasm. Conclusion. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first reported case of a low-grade mucinous neoplasm occurring in an enteric duplication cyst in the pancreas. Background: Rare cystic lung diseases are increasingly recognised due the wider application of CT scanning making cystic lung disease management a growing part of respiratory care. Cystic lung diseases tend to have extrapulmonary features that can both be diagnostic but also require surveillance and treatment in their own right. As some of these diseases now have specific treatments, making a precise diagnosis is crucial. While Langerhans cell histiocytosis, Birt-Hogg-Dubé syndrome, lymphoid interstitial pneumonia and lymphangioleiomyomatosis are becoming relatively well-known diseases to respiratory physicians, a targeted and thorough workup improves diagnostic accuracy and may suggest other ultrarare diseases such as light chain deposition disease, cystic pulmonary amyloidosis, low-grade metastatic neoplasms or infections. In many cases, diagnostic information is overlooked leaving uncertainty over the disease course and treatments., Aims: This position statement from the Rare Disease Collaborative Network for cystic lung diseases will review how clinical, radiological and physiological features can be used to differentiate between these diseases., Narrative: We highlight that in many cases a multidisciplinary diagnosis can be made without the need for lung biopsy and discuss where tissue sampling is necessary when non-invasive methods leave diagnostic doubt. We suggest an initial workup focusing on points in the history which identify key disease features, underlying systemic and familial diseases and a clinical examination to search for connective tissue disease and features of genetic causes of lung cysts. All patients should have a CT of the thorax and abdomen to characterise the pattern and burden of lung cysts and extrapulmonary features and also spirometry, gas transfer and a 6 min walk test. Discussion with a rare cystic lung disease centre is suggested before a surgical biopsy is undertaken., Conclusions: We suggest that this focused workup should be performed in all people with multiple lung cysts and would streamline referral pathways, help guide early treatment, management decisions, improve patient experience and reduce overall care costs. Leiomyomas of the uterus are the most common benign tumours of women in the reproductive age group, affecting up to 40%-50% of women older than 35. In postmenopausal women, the incidence is much lower with an estimated incidence of 1%-2% in women in the 60-80 years old age group. Vulvar leiomyomas are much rarer than their uterine counterparts, accounting for only 0.03% of all gynaecological neoplasms and 0.07% of all vulvar tumours. These tumours are well-circumscribed, painless, solitary growths that affect females of all ages. Given the presentation and rarity of vulvar leiomyomas, they are often misdiagnosed as a Bartholin gland cyst, abscess or even cancer preoperatively. We present a case of a woman in her 70s with a 1.5 cm firm mass that was palpated on the left lower vaginal side wall and was initially suspected to be a Bartholin gland cyst or abscess. Initial treatment included antibiotics and an incision and drainage. Two weeks later, the mass had grown to 3 cm in size. Enteritis cystica profunda is a rare and benign disease defined as the invagination of the intestinal epithelium into the submucosa and more profound layers of intestinal wall leading to the formation of mucin-filled cystic spaces. We reported the case of a 45-year-old female, suffering from a Crohn's disease, with a Koenig's syndrome, diarrhea, abdominal pain and weight loss. The colonoscopy and the abdominopelvic scan showed a terminal ileal stenosis, with parietal calcifications. A surgical ileocecal resection was decided. Gross examination of the ileocecal resection showed a thickening of the ileal wall, with many mucin-filled cysts measuring 1mm to 2cm, with some calcifications. The ileal mucosa was ulcerated, and showed a stenotic sector extending over 3cm. Histological examination showed acute ulcerated ileitis lesions, with chronic ileitis lesions and stenosis, compatible with the known diagnosis of Crohn's disease. There were also many cysts into the ileal wall. They were lined with a regular ileal epithelium. The cysts contained mucus, with some calcifications. Some cysts were ruptured, with extravasation of mucus within the wall. Cystica profunda can be found anywhere along the digestive tract. The physiopathology is not yet well understood, but it seems to be favored by chronic aggression of the intestinal wall. This pathology most often coexists with Crohn's disease. Introduction: Cardiac blood cyst is a very rare benign tumor of the heart in adults. Though it is very common in the first half year of life, it regresses with time and its occurrence is very rare in children older than six months and in adults. Until now less than 100 valvular blood cyst cases have been reported in adults., Case Presentation: We present a case of a 66-year-old male who presented to us with exertional chest tightness, shortness of breath, and right leg weakness for two weeks. He was diagnosed with a cardiac mass two months ago in another hospital. The physical examination was unremarkable. Abdominal ultrasound showed a cyst in the liver and left kidney. Echocardiography showed a mass-occupying lesion of a cystic nature in the mitral valve with moderate mitral regurgitation. Based on echocardiography findings and computed tomography report, the preliminary diagnosis of mitral valve cystic tumor was made. The patient underwent minimally invasive resection of the cyst. The posterior mitral cusp was repaired and a mitral annuloplasty ring was placed. The postoperative recovery was uneventful. The histopathology report confirmed the diagnosis of a cardiac blood cyst. The patient was followed up for six months without any complications. This case is presented to enrich the medical literature on the cardiac blood cyst., Conclusion: Although a cardiac blood cyst is a rare entity in adults, it still should be considered in the differential diagnosis of cardiac tumors. Background: Adrenal gland cysts are a rare entity, with a reported incidence in post-mortem series of 0.06-0.18%. However, the incidence seems to be increasing in recent years. The presentation of adrenal gland cysts is usually asymptomatic, but those cases in which symptoms are present are usually non-specific, which makes adrenal cysts generally recognized as incidentalomas. The finding is mainly made by computed tomography. The main objective of this article was to describe the clinical course of a patient with an adrenal gland pseudocyst, which is accompanied by symptoms of compression and persistent pain of long evolution in the left flank., Clinical Case: A 65-year-old female patient attended the emergency room of a second-level hospital due to an increase in volume of the abdominal region with a sensation of fullness, heartburn, vomiting and pain. Computed tomography was performed, which reported a cystic mass and, later, exploratory laparotomy plus adrenalectomy were carried out. The pathology analysis reported a diagnosis of a 10 x 15 x 14 cm solid, cystic, and adherent tumor, coinciding with a pseudocyst of the adrenal gland., Conclusions: Adrenal gland cysts are rare. This report describes the diagnosis and treatment of a benign renal cyst in an adult, female golden eagle ( Aquila chrysaetos ) presented for unilateral leg lameness. A cyst at the cranial division of the left kidney was diagnosed by computed tomography and was suspected of compressing the lumbosacral nerve plexus, resulting in limb lameness. The renal cyst was incompletely excised because the cyst wall was closely adhered to the kidney parenchyma and local blood supply. Fluid analysis and surgical biopsy of the cyst and left kidney confirmed the diagnosis of a benign renal cyst. No evidence of an infectious, inflammatory, or neoplastic etiology was noted. Postoperatively, the eagle's lameness resolved and the bird was ultimately released following recovery. During treatment for the renal cyst, the eagle was concurrently found to have increased serum titers on elementary body agglutination for Chlamydia psittaci and a positive titer for Aspergillus species antibody testing. The bird was administered doxycycline, azithromycin, and voriconazole for treatment of these potential pathogens prior to release. Unfortunately, the eagle was found dead 86 days postrelease due to an unknown cause. To the authors' knowledge, this is the first report of a golden eagle with a benign solitary renal cyst causing unilateral lameness secondary to nerve compression that was resolved with surgical excision.
