In the contemporary research environment, well-managed research data is recognized as an essential factor for high-quality research. This is because good management makes the datasets easier to reuse, which is translated into a higher coefficient of collaboration between scientists, maximizing the return on investment of research funding agencies, increasing transparency in methods and workflows, enabling, in this way, a greater coefficient of reproducibility of scientific experiments. However, data management is a multifaceted problem that demands technologies, organizational structures, human knowledge and skills to combine, in a complementary way, a wide spectrum of variables, thus characterizing them as a complex solution equation. Faced with this challenge, the present research starts from the following question: are the repositories enough to solve all the challenges presented by research data management? To answer this question, a theoretical and exploratory research was developed, based on literature analysis and observation of repositories and data management service platforms available on the web. As a result, the concept of disciplinary platform for research data management is presented as a possible alternative for solving several challenges encountered by researchers and academics, who aim to find, access, share and reuse data as inputs for new research. It is concluded that the offer of new data management services must be supported by the available computational and informational infrastructures, the analysis methodologies and workflows inherent to the disciplinary research processes and incorporate expertise that is capable of dealing with the environments and technologically sophisticated processes of current research. It is concluded that data management should be guided by the provision of a set of data services that can be classified as scientific, computational, informational and administrative. Those services must closely support disciplinary workflows, processing and analysis methodologies through specific computational and informational infrastructures and incorporate multidisciplinary expertise that can deal with the technologically sophisticated environments and processes of current research. Making data accessible allows further research, provides information for decision-making and contributes to transparency in science. This paper presents an ongoing study about the scientific communication of the global biodiversity data sets, analyzed under the perspective of metadata use throughout the scientific information flow. The proposed methodology aims to establish a baseline by identifying the internationally recommended metadata standards and compare it with existent metadata evidences. This study is grounded in a qualitative and descriptive research of metadata evidences that will be guided by the berry picking method. Furthermore, the systematic review and meta-synthetic analysis were defined as methods to collect and analyze metadata evidences extracted from scientific articles and metadata records related to biodiversity research data sets of public repositories. The expected outcome is to outline metadata use in biodiversity data sets in a comparative analysis view to recommended standards. It is also expected to identify practices that have been adopted in the management, communication and governance of biodiversity research data. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Institutions and research agencies now require scientific conduct that collaborates with the agenda for Open Science. The drawing up of a Data Management Plan can be characterized as an initial procedure for the development of scientific research, a document that proposes that researchers manage the raw data of their research, promoting sharing, the opening up of data and its reuse for the benefit of researchers and society. The aim of this work was to assess requirements for Data Management Plans as part of new conduct for good practices in scientific research. The research was characterized as exploratory; document and bibliographic methods were used for the identification, collection and systematization of information. The results point to the need for the availability of these Plans in open data repositories and their relationship to higher education institutions, funding agencies and researchers. Actions that are carried out in the creation and development of Data Management Plans were also identified, mainly for the development of institutional policies for the management of research data, but also respecting different areas of knowledge, since not all data is generated in the same way. In addition, it is evident that there is a new paradigm in scientific publication and dissemination, which also influences its communication, be it within the academic environment or with society in general. Since antiquity, when the scientific method was introduced to validate knowledge, its production and research results began to be guided by the exchange of ideas and suggestions among peers, by the sharing of information which needed to pass through the scrutiny of the scientific community members. From the evolution of science and technological apparatuses that started to collect more information for scientific researches, the data emerge as an essential product for the advance of scientific knowledge necessary for the validation of the results of any study. The research data are presented in various forms and must be contextualized within the disciplines or areas to which they belong. In this sense, this research aims to investigate the practices and informational needs of researchers (teachers, students and technical-administrative in Education linked to the Master's or Doctorate) of the Postgraduate courses of the Federal University of Ceará (UFC), concerning the management of research data and Open Science. For this purpose, the following specific objectives were outlined: analyze researchers' perception of research data management and Open Science; investigate the practices and informational needs of these researchers regarding these themes; propose a Research Data Management Program (PGDP) for the UFC with the objective of suggesting a Research Data Management Policy; suggest the creation of support services for the researchers at the UFC; develop educational and information actions in order to test an online course pilot as part of the program. Exhaustive research was conducted using Publish or Perish software, CAPES Journal Portal, Wizdom.ai and Twitter. The methodological strategy used was the triangulation of methods - Grounded Theory and Netnography, in addition to the research techniques of documental analysis and participant observation. The data collection was based on the questionnaire and interview, as well as the use of the electronic field journal and the electronic laboratory notebook for the notes, field note records and in the construction of memos. The data were treated by a qualitative approach with the use of Atlas.ti software for the construction of the categories. The results demonstrate that in relation to researchers' storage practices and strategies, the personal computer and the cloud are the most widely used to maintain their research files and data, although most have revealed that they do not have a backup frequency of their files because they use the automatic synchronization service of the cloud. About survey documentation practices with the elaboration of a Data Management Plan (PGD), among all survey respondents only one person elaborated a PGD, while in the group of interviewees none ever used the PGD for this purpose. Regarding the sharing, interviewees stated that they had shared some type of information or survey data, and when they did not share, the reasons stated were: lack of knowledge, for not knowing how to do it or for bumping into ethical, legal and integrity issues in the survey. Hence, the conclusion is that the researcher has a fundamental role in the Management of Research Data, since adopting this posture represents a guarantee of the quality and integrity of the research, in addition to collaborating for good practices in science. Furthermore, the literature shows that the librarian has been the most recommended professional to assist researchers in this process. Finally, the contribution of this investigation is based on researchers' perception of research data and Open Science, in addition to the suggestion of a proposal for a Research Data Management Program (PGDP) for the UFC, which focuses on the development of policies, guidelines, education and information actions, products, services and management of research data at the university.

Institutions and research agencies are demanding conduct in the context of the Open Science agenda. The good practices in scientific research are including the elaboration of a Data Management Plan, which proposes to the researcher to manage the raw data of his research, valuing the sharing together with the opening of the data and its reuse to the benefit of the researchers and society. Therefore, the objective of this work was to identify and identify good practices with respect to the reuse and interoperability that the data opening makes possible, and it was intended to analyze aspects related to the management of research data, aiming at its availability in data repositories open, exploring the relationship of higher education institutions, funding agencies and researchers with the survey of actions that are carried out in the creation and development of PGDs. The research was characterized as exploratory, documentary and bibliographical methods were used to identify, collect and systematize the information. It is considered the need to develop institutional policies for the management of research data, but also respecting the areas of knowledge, since not all data are generated in the same way. In addition, it is evident that there is a new paradigm in scientific publication and dissemination, which also influences its communication, be it with the academic environment or with society.
