In this article we analyze term signs and their use in printed or digital dictionaries of the Brazilian Sign Language (LSB), since, in certain cases, the lack of conceptual bases can interfere in the understanding by the Deaf for an effective understanding of the contents presented. The area we analyzed is grammar, specifically, syntactic structures. This is because, in view of the difficulty in syntactic analysis involved in the grammatical teaching of Portuguese, there is a need to create term signs that can transmit the content and, with that, can provide an understanding of the grammatical structure with regard to acquisition Portuguese as a second language (L2). The methodology used was qualitative, since to achieve the purpose it was necessary to understand how the Deaf Community would react to the final result. As a theoretical basis for Lexicology and Terminology, we used the studies by Faulstich (2014). This topic has been under discussion for some years with the aim of improving the understanding of the terms worked in the classroom by Deaf students. We approach the need for the process of creating term signs and analyze the existence or not of referents in existing dictionaries. In addition, we seek to understand whether the lexicographic materials that make up the LSB lexicon are capable of conveying the concept involved. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
